Very good price for river rocks I bought 5 gallon bucket

Popped beads on both trailer tires after loading up 1 yd. sand. (Low air, my fault!) Charlie came to the rescue. Jacked up trailer, put tires back on wheels, aired them up, and I was on my way. Charlie went over and beyond true customer service! Thats the reason I will continue my 25+ yr. business relationship with Great Western! Thanks, Karl G.

If u need delivery, they have outsourced, so shop around, i used dunns hauling which they referred me to.

Raised garden mix has a ton of shredded plastic in it. This is not what I wanted for my vegetable garden. Contains a mix of hard and soft plastics (like shredded bags) in a range of all different colors. I highly recommend going elsewhere for dirt that is going to be used for growing food.

I can never get a human being on the phone anymore been coming to this place for 15 years. My employees and I are going to start going to Black Lake Landscape Supply instead they are much more responsive and better with their customers.

Has anyone else had an issue with their Native Mix? All of my plants have been stunted. My mom and sister in-law also bought this mix and they are experiencing the same exact issues. We think the mix was too hot. Last year my garden was absolutely amazing with the same mix.... so incredibly disappointed.

My go to for rock and soil. Fair prices, quick loading. The only draw back is the loaders. They have a hard time retaining good ones. There is one who is excellent, the rest are ok.

The price is right for small nugget bark ($38+/yard, prices change seasonally). They load super fast and the loaders are kind and professional. Its a bit of a drive for us, but worth it because its fast and the yards are not on the small side. I have been there 3 times for loads in my pull behind trailer this week.

I have ordered garden dirt and mushroom compost from GWS for over a decade. I recently ordered a load of garden dirt and was shocked at the truly awful customer service. The load looked light to me and my partner. When I called to get clarification, the initial person I talked with was haughty and rude. Eventually the manager agreed to handle it and offered to provide another yard. I ordered more dirt at that time, then when they called to confirm, I asked if the yard had been credited to my order. The young woman I spoke with seemed personally offended by this. The only thing I can think is that the woman I spoke with was the same person who shorted my order? At that point I felt I needed to just cancel my order and reverse the $350 charge. She basically hung up on me. I called back to get confirmation that they would reverse the charges to my credit card. I got vague assurances that someone would email me and they were done talking to me. LOL. Wow.

Ordered some compost this year from this company for the first time. It was delivered right on time, and the price was right. However, it is CHOCK FULL of plastic. I keep taking plastic bag shreds out of my compost, and tiny pieces of hard plastic. Lots of painted wood chips in there. I wont get compost here again, but if you dont care about having plastic in your compost, this was a great experience.

My past experiences with GWS have been good. This year (2022), however, I havent been thrilled with the garden soil Ive picked up here. The Garden Mix seemed to have a great deal of uncomposted manure, and the Simply Organic mix also seemed really hot (not fully composted). I talked to customer service staff there and they were very polite and explained that these are mixed on site, and maybe I just got a load that had more manure than the standard ratio. Oh well, not a huge deal; a little bit of time will take care of the problem. So, GWS is not perfect but overall Im happy. Good prices too.

I would give it a zero if I could. I have used this company in the past. Sent email for an order. I then called a few minutes later to confirm the email was received. It was and I was told it looked like a delivery would be on Monday ( 6 days away). This was a Tuesday. Nobody contacted me so on Sunday called. Went to voice mail. I left a detailed message letting them nopbody called me back. As of 5:45 on Monday, nothing from the company. I guess my plans, work crew, etc do not matter. Lost my business for good.

Website not working. Called them and said the website is not working. The women answering the phone didnt seem motivated to find out why. Asked about topsoil mixes, she told me what they have without going into details of what are in the mixes. A little strange. Ive dealt with many suppliers and they all tell me whats in their topsoil mix.

My garden soil I got from them was infested with wireworms, we had it delivered just before spring, it was pile into the driveway and I saw a few worms in it, but didn t think anything of it, worms are good for gardens right? Then we added to our newly built garden boxes and all of my seedlings began to die off, when I pulled out the plants the roots were infested with adult wireworms, meaning they were in that soil at least a year, and it s nearly impossible to get rid of them, they are the worst, the whole intention of a veggie garden is ruined. Make sure you go check out the soil before you have it delivered, I never considered something like this could happen.

I have been multiple times and never had a bad experience. The team noticed one of my trailer tires were running low and helped me add air. Just a sample of the great every day service beyond rock, bark and dirt.

Friendly staff. I assume the prices are good but I really have no idea how to price soil and gravel. Delivery option is nice to have for those bigger jobs. Have used them several times for bark, soil, rock.

OMGoodness - the Owner of this place helped me and he is awesome! I was really put off by this place when I first went there because it took me 15 minutes just to get someone to help me, but when they did - WOW!! Definitely recommend, but make sure you have the time :)

I think Ive bought my last load from them. It seems that every time I buy either garden or turf mix, I get more weeds that dirt. Each time with new weeds Ive never seen before. The weeds are so bad this time that I really have no choice but to spray RoundUp and start over. Completely disappointed. The people that work there are always nice and the service is quick in and out. The quality of soils has just been so consistently disappointing.

Two things 1 I bought medium bark and they gave me junk called walk on he s shoveling out of my dump trailer now. 2. I bought turf mix and at no additional charge I also got a lot of WEEDS

Ill keep going back every time I need any material or landscape products! I cant say enough good things about this company. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!

I bought dirt from this location the first time and it costed a little over 800 dollars because they didnt charge me the delivery because I live literally 2 min away. I called again today to get a delivery and a woman named kaya says that they cant do that price. Im even asking for ten yards less of dirt but they want 500 more dollars than I paid for the original dirt cost. 1404 to be exact for 40 yards of dirt after I just paid 800 for 50 yards? I received a message from Cindy about calling back so I did and she helped out with the price I still thinks its a bit pricey for dirt, but at least she was willing to make an effort because her last rep screwed up she said. With that said I got an offer for 1107 for 50 yards which I will buy, but I recommend if you ever get kaya on the phone ask for someone else who wants your business to speak with because her pricing is way off. I hope this stays the price point goes down at some point but I may be willing to do business more with them if I dont have to speak to that rep anymore. Thank you to Cindy for helping me out.

Even though we are noobs in the world of gravel getting, the staff helped us figure out what we need. We couldn t have it poured into our truck because of the tonneau cover but they provided shovels and moral support for our digging! They were mostly very friendly however they were not masked at all inside which will make a lot of people uncomfortable. Overall, I am very happy with my gravel!

I called this place 4 weeks ago, was told the river rock was out of stock, would be dug in 1-2 weeks and that I would be called after that for delivery. I never received a call. 4 weeks later, I had to call and was told it may be another 4 weeks before they even go out to dig the rock. I was put on a list yet never updated and probably would not have been had I not called myself. Very poor customer service. Use Black Lake Landscape instead, they will deliver my river rock in 1 day.

My husband really needed s clay based dirt. So needless to say your company was their you manager there talked to me about my predicament and gave me what my husband really needed to complete our pandemic project one of many anyway a waterfall with bog and stream. Anyway thanks again Dianne K. Cox

One day service for a load of gravel - arrived exactly on time - put it right where we wanted it and the driver was very capable and pleasant . Definitely 5 star service.

I went to Great Western with my wife on Sun before 12:00 to pick up cedar play ground chips. I have a fixed cap on my truck bed which is difficult to remove so I bring a pitchfork to load by hand myself. I informed the loaded we would load ourselves he said okay. While we loading the loaded pulled up and said we needed to move he had a customer waiting. We were also customers and was there first. I could of had it filled in 5 minutes. At the time we were halfway done so I continued...he again told my wife he needs to get in the spot to fill a customer. Instead of him offering help he stayed on the loaded and looked discussed. At that point we we re getting upset so we closed our top paid and left with 1/2 a load. I informed the ladies at the desk about the incident an they didn t seem surprised . Me and my wife are both Seniors Citizens /Army Veterans. Rude employees are unacceptable with us, it s probably not the first time it happened but it s the last time it will happen too us. At the time of this incident the waiting customer was the only one on the lot....they weren t busy ...Note: the last time I got help loading they were so careless loading they scratched my tailgate and I had them stop and filled it myself.....

Short version: I retract my negative review, and am now supremely satisfied. I originally gave a bad review because I had a regrettable experience with a certain product. I was reached out to by great western and told it would be investigated and made right. First I want to say Im extremely impressed with the owners business ethic, I was truly surprised, it was refreshing to see such commitment. They stand behind their product, and if you have a problem, like I did, they will make it right. It was surprising to me the lengths that were taken to make it right. At first I didnt even feel comfortable accepting how much effort and input was offered to me, but as the man himself said You bought it, you didnt like it, were going to make it right. Its whats right. I am still unclear as to what exactly was at fault in the first place, but either way, I am satisfied with what has been done for me, and I couldnt ask for more. I dont have any doubts that I will have a excellent garden next year.

I have used Greatwestern for the last 17 years. They are totally customer oriented. They provide a second to nonthing service. Their products are of the highest quality. The only thing they could do more of is to include a lawn mower with their turf mix. That composted topsoil grows beautiful grass. Dan and the whole staff have not only exceeded my expectations but have become my friends as well.

I love this place, its a builders paradise. The staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgable.

After receiving a lengthy explanation of how they dump eight buckets of firewood into your trailer...and it is assured to be at least a cord, I got home, stacked the wood, and it maybe makes 3/4 of a cord. My advice, hand stack it into your trailer yourself...or go elsewhere. A very expensive $250 mistake for fir.
