I have had a phenomenal experience with Hersch's this year. Staff is very communicative, responsive and goes the extra mile. I forgot to take my dog toys inside during a spray and I found the serviceman put them on my patio table so my dog would not ingest it. So appreciative!
My neighbor hired this stupid company to come spray cancer all over her yard, but apparently they employ people who don't understand what the numbers on the houses mean because they sprayed my organic lawn instead. I have pets and this represents such a massive inconvenience for me. I wouldn't trust this company to do anything. DO NOT HIRE.
I was insanely happy with their service until today, we’ll see how my actually getting to talk to them goes. Today their provider decided that they were going to apply an insecticide to my lawn that I didn’t ask for or approve that is dangerous to my animals and requires watering of my lawn to make it safe. I didn’t find out till AFTER my dogs had gone outside to play in the lawn. I’m not at all okay with thus
Hersch's is the best! They are extremely professional and accomodating, and my wife and I couldn't be happier with their service. Tim, our tech, is extremely infornative, profession, and thorough, and Gina, in the office, is always helpful, letting us know a a day in advance of treatment, so we know to keep our dog in the house for a couple hours. Thanks ti them, our lawn looks better than it has in the 50 years our family has owned our home.
Be cautious of any flyer you may receive from them. They sent us a quote to our home which we purchased, then when they arrived we got a call stating they needed to double the amount due to our lot size. First, if you sent it to my address, one would assume you did your homework. Second, there is not a single statement on your quote that says the price could vary based on square footage. Their first customer service rep was very polite in discussing it, while the second person was quite rude. It’s important for companies to be called out when they provide false advertising, which is what this is.
Awesome place for all your lawn care needs. The representatives are very knowledgeable and helpful. They take the time to understand your situation and then try to come up with an economically viable program, tailored to your needs. The prices are very reasonable and some are wholesale prices. They don't do much advertising or marketing. Hence probably that is how they keep the costs down. The store is tucked away from the main street. So make sure you use your GPS.
Despite my very clear and explicit request to not renew service to my lawn last year, Hersch's decided they don't care and came anyway. When they did show up, my neighbor informed me that they only sprayed the area between the sidewalk and the road. The picture I've posted should tell you how that worked out. That portion of my lawn has been dead since and is only now (October) beginning to grow back. I'm sure they are going to charge me though because I suspect that it's their part of their business plan to charge for bad service. But If any other business was told explicitly not to perform a service and then did so only to destroy the thing they're supposed to be performing service on, they'd have no clients. I guess Hersch's is just smarter than most. They would get zero stars but there's no option to go lower than 1. Update: They just called and are prepared to extract their $54 fee for an application I explicitly instructed them not to make, through collections. The caller (a man named Robert who claimed he was the manager) didn't care much about the damage they did to my lawn. They seem to regard collection agencies as a form of customer service. Nice job Hersch's!!
Professional service. Excellent results! They complete the various applications and advise of their observations. They offer several methods of payment as well as prepay and package deals. My lawn appreciates them and so do I 😃
Reached out to them multiple times via online lead submission on their website. Never got a call back. Irritating to input all my contact information (multiple times) and not get a call back. Disappointing.
I love Herschs lawn care and have recommended them to several neighbors. My lawn looks so good people stop and ask me how I got it that way, always tell them Herschs.
After they did an application, I am able to clearly see on my cameras that they only did the front yard and did not bother to do backyard or side yard. Called to let them know about it, and instead of of trying to offer a solution they blamed it on my cameras. I told them I would go back and check the cameras again and if I didnt see anything different, Id call to cancel. Went through all 5 cameras again, didnt see anything different, called back to cancel and they guy told me my service is cancelled already. Very strange for them to not even try to rectify the situation. Beware and stay away.
Signed up full year plan. A few applications in ,i asked them to reapply because still weeds. They came back and applied so much all over lawn and pavement that my dog lost his hair on legs for two years. Suffered. Thanks for the follow up guys.
They never mark where your sprinklers are ! They will then damage your sprinklers & your neighbours !!! Be careful !! I do not recommend this service !

Have been a customer of Herschs for 4 years, wished that I would have found them earlier. Excellent service, support staff, and overall friendly. The give very helpful tips. What really stands out as test or evaluation for any company or service, is how well they handle a concern or problem. Few years back, called with a problem, they responded promptly and with concern. Quickly resolved to my full satisfaction. They have my trust and respect.

Received direct mail specific to my home property with pricing and an expiration day to take advantage of the discounts. First phone call , no one returned my call. Second call, gentleman claimed to be the manager and stated those prices are incorrect and wont be honored. Actual costs are over $100 more. Buyer beware of bait-and-switch!

The people at Herschs Lawn Spray are impressive. I signed up a little late in the season but theyve been able to help me to get my lawn in good shape. We had wild violets which are very invasive they have been working with me to get rid of the violets and there is a significant difference. My neighbors have noticed the difference in my lawn this year and complimented it. From the people on the phone to the techs that actually treat the lawn they are friendly and professional and knowledgeable about lawn care. I appreciate Herschs as Ive always taken pride in my yard and my lawn looks much better this year.

Lousy company. They claim they serviced my lawn after I cancelled the service and then reported the bill to the credit bureau over $60 that I don t even owe them. Stay away from this company. Unethical and unprofessional.

Snake oil sales people who get people signed up for a summer service and slipstream auto renewal policies from year to year. They chased me for months for $35, only to immediately reduce it to $17.50 and then immediately fold and reduce the balance to $0 after telling me SEVERAL TIMES that they cant reduce balances to $0. This shows you the ineptitude of their business management is as equal or worse than their customer experience. They are losing money chasing people on a failing policy that is causing people to leave 1 star reviews in masses. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!
I signed up with Herchs/1-800-THE-LAWN for the first time this year and wasn t sure if I needed this type of service. I have been pleasantly surprised by how effective it has been. The company is great and very attentive and my lawn looks better than ever. It is the best value per dollar service I have for my home because it effects curb appeal the most. Will for sure continue to use.
Please avoid this company, they have deceitful practices. They try to scam you into an auto renew policy and dont give any heads up emails or info about auto renewing. They put a $31 dollar bill into collections without ever notifying me. Im just seeing it 3 years later on my credit report. Avoid these guys, theyll be out of business soon with the way they treat people!

This company sent a flyer with a price for their service and when I called they stated the price could not be honored at all and blamed the marketing company.
Ive only had 1 application, but they came out within 2 days of hiring them. Received spray treatment, plus analysis of lawn grasses and unwanted plants in lawn.

We switched from a different company to Hersch s two years ago and have been very pleased. We referred a new customer and received a $50 check in the mail. It was a happy surprise that if we donated that $50 back to one of two agencies addressing food insecurity in our area that Hersch s would match it. We were pleased to turn that $50 into $100 for Forgotten Harvest.

Great service and super professional staff. Unlike a lot of the lawn care companies, they dont try to sell you a bunch of stuff that you dont need. They also dont constantly pester you for business. Ive had great luck with my lawn since I started using Herschs. Highly recommend them!
Very bad experience! I did NOT want to use Herschs this year and since I never sent back the paper they send you with discounts for the year I thought they would NOT come back to spray. Therefore, I come home and find their flag, and they give me all this excuses: ...blah,blah.... Who is going to be reading small print? I was a customer for many years of Mikes Tree Service and they NEVER gave me this stupid excuse of letting them know I didnt want their service. I have ALLERGIES and cant be exposed to the chemicals they use. Do they want to be sued?

They are the best in my opinion. I have used them for years and no issues. I highly recommend. I tried others but only one was even comparable in quality but not in pricing.

Cancelled late last year as we and our neighbors all started to get headaches when they would spray, however they have conveniently never received the call. SIt seems rather difficult to cancel service this without being continually being charged with company. For any potential clients- I would think twice around their terms of service.
We used this service for one summer and pre-paid for the entire season over phone at the start of the summer. It cost $28 per application for our small Berkley-sized front lawn, which is a bit pricey in my opinion. The results were good for weeds, but not much else. That said, I expected we would use their service periodically in the future for management, but had no expectation to use it every year. The following year, our lawn was unexpectedly sprayed. This was without our permission since we never signed, nor pre-paid for the service. A bill followed, which I tried to dispute. After my first call, I was left with the impression that the bill would be cancelled. However, another bill followed, which caused me to call again. I learned that the bill was not going to be cancelled, and if left unpaid, it would be sent to collections. According to Hersch s, I should have known to cancel service because it was noted on the bills. However, since I prepaid for the previous season, all of my bills had a balance of zero. So, in other words, I had no reason to look at my bills since it was akin to junk mail nor was I informed that I would be automatically added to a subscription plan when prepaying over the phone. The argument that I was oblivious to the obvious is without merit, given my situation. Rather, their billing practice is straight-up sneaky in the same way legal agreements for downloads are sneaky! Hersch s will get my precious $28, but at the same time will have lost any future business from me. Moreover, they earned this review. If you use their service, make sure to cancel at the onset, because they won t work with you if you have a billing issue later on. Better idea use a different service, that isn t so difficult to work with.
Herschs Lawn Spray has serviced my lawn for 24 years. My lawn is the best looking lawn on the block.
They have been spraying my lawn for a few years now and we have the best looking lawn on my street. We also had a bug problem when we moved in our home and had them start doing pesticide applications a few times a year and have no issues anymore.

This is my 3rd year with this company and have always been very pleased.
Switched from another service provider last year and am very happy. Lawn looks great and I no longer have to deal with the constant upsell calls that my previous lawn fertilization company made part of their operation.
Only effective treatment is the dandelion killer. Will harass you endlessly for payment when they start spraying your lawn next season without permission or agreement. No advanced warning of spraying for pets. Would not recommend.
First summer with the company and we will not be using this company again. Ive had to call twice to make sure someone was coming out to spray our lawn. The first time, they were within the recommended timeframe, however, we were used to our other fertilizing company who comes out more frequently. The second time I called they did forget to come to our house ( company says they spray every 4-6 weeks and its been 2 months since our last treatment). The person on the phone said this was not a normal situation and this doesnt happen. He was polite and said they would come out the next day or two. While I appreciate the company trying to respond in a timely manner, I will not be using this company in the future. We have more weeds than we have had in the past. We will go back to our old fertilizing company who sprays more frequently and regularly. Would not recommend.

Herschs Lawn Spray has been caring for my lawn here in Ferndale and it looks great. Their employees have always been very professional and careful when working at our house. They also leave the yard sign that notifies everyone that the fertilizer has just been applied. Great place.
I called quite a few services the day I was looking for someone to spray our lawn to kill the dandelions. They are reasonable, and our lawn looks very good after one spray! We are pleased! The office staff is very accommodating as well as polite!!
