Roots was quick to respond when we needed a big tree removal/clean up due to a recent storm. They also gave us the best bid out of all the estimates we got. They provided a detailed estimate on what they would do with a price breakdown! Definitely best bang for your buck! Highly recommend!

We had three 25 year old shrub stumps that needed to be removed. They brought in the skid loader to see if they could pull them out without having to dig them out. That was not a possibility but they had the machine there ready and made it happen. Highly recommend.

We were very impressed with Roots. Rudi was very knowledgeable and helped us formulate a plan to hopefully save 2-3 of our diseased trees. We received quick service, both for assessment and treatment/tree felling. The entire team was friendly and professional and the services were reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend Roots to anyone who needs an arborist and/or tree removal.

Great service and very affordable. Tree was down quickly, stump ground down, and everything cleaned up and hauled away.

Came out when ground was still wet. Left some divots in yard. Debris was left on front lawn and public sidewalk. Work was done on a Thursday was told debris would be up next day. Was not picked up next day. Called office and was told debris is normally picked up within 24 hrs. It was not picked up. Called again left message call was not returned. Debris was left on front lawn and public sidewalk which caused all sidewalk traffic to have to cut through our yard to get around got several complaints about the blockage. Debris was finally picked up on Monday. Wondered if this is normal procedure.

A very tall oak tree across a waterway behind our house fell on to our property and knocked another large oak to the ground together they smashed several large ornamental shrubs after knocking limbs off a few more trees. It was a real mess. I called Roots. Rudy came out within a few hours examined the damage and gave me what I thought was a very fair estimate considering all the horror stories I have heard. His crew finished a job early next day, got an amazing start, and finished up next day. They moved the limbs and logs to the best spot and did a very nice job of picking the smaller debris up. I think that I will never call another service in any situation involving tree removal.

Such amazing customer service. Jessica in the office and the man who gave us a bid were so friendly. Very professional.

I wanted to give the company a higher rating but just simply cant after the last couple interactions. I asked for a quote and they came out fairly quickly and bid the job. It wasnt the lowest but overall seemed reasonable and Adam was very professional. I was still getting quotes, so I didnt schedule with them right away. After some time, they reduced the price to get my business and went and ahead and approved the work. At this point they said they would call back to get me on the schedule. This is where things went downhill. A few days later, unannounced, a crew shows up to cut the tree down. There were 3 people, of which two did not speak English and the one that did left my house to go down the street to a yard sale. Cutting the tree down itself was a pretty small job and they crew was gone pretty quickly. My biggest issue was the communication with scheduling. They also drove their machine through my neighbors yard which was completely unnecessary. Also they damaged my grass to some extent even though they had boards on their trailer they could have put down to protect the grass. This crew left without grinding the stump. Shortly after, my work order from Roots was marked complete; however, the work was not complete. I called Adam, who assured me that since it was not invoiced the work would still get done. I let him know graduation was the coming weekend but we could have someone come out after that to grind the stump to finish the job. Well the weekend passed and that work did not happen but I did get invoiced for the final bill. I called Adam back and he said he would have the scheduling team contact me to get a crew out to grind the stump. Again that did not happen. Someone just showed up, again unannounced, at 7:45am to grind the stump! The project is completed and no real issues from a quality perspective. Just wish there were better communication throughout the process.

The workers that showed up were very professional and knowledgeable, when grinding the stump they made sure chips didnt go all over the yard, made sure the entire area was cleaned after they finished. Would definitely recommend them

We had half a large tree come down in our yard. We were able to dispose of it ourselves, but over the next 2 days, more branches kept coming down. I was worried the whole tree was going to fall over and crush our house. I called Roots and explained my concerns and they went out of their way to get someone to look at our tree next day. After their recommendations, they sent a crew to fix the tree without taking it completely down. They were fast and cleaned up the debris completely. Would absolutely recommend.

Did not arrive on day set for work, and 5+ hours late on the second date set. One tree not done to customers satisfaction. One tree not done to Roots stated standards, and thus not to customers satisfaction. Rudy was confrontational and used foul language speaking to me when told I was not fully satisfied. Yard cleanup was terrific when they left.

The guys did a nice job. They cleaned up after the job. The trees look good and safe again.

I called them and they said they would be out in two days to check out my tree. Almost two weeks later I call. They said they havent been out to check out my tree and would call me back soon. Still nothing almost a month later.

Company was on time, stump grinding went well, employee used blower to clean off driveway and blew all debris from grinding towards hole and packed soil down. Ver happy with this job and company

They did an amazing/ quick job of cutting down and removing the tree from the backyard. The only reason I didn t give them 5 stars was the fact they rolled over some landscaping in our front yard which killed multiple flowers and two solar lights. Other than that they did a very good job and would probably use them again.

Roots cut back our Magnolia tree to make more sunlight available for future solar panels. They cleaned everything up and my wife is happy that she still has shade for her garden.

Called needing a tree taken down. My long time landscaper has a team member whose parents had used Roots. They were happy with Roots so I called. Roots said they would be out in a week or so to look at tree and provide an estimate. Three weeks later no one had shown up. I called back. Roots said since I live in Troy that it was taking longer to get someone out to look at the tree. Roots said it would be next week for sure. Another three weeks later no one has called or shown up. Extremely unprofessional. If traveling 15 miles up the road from O Fallon to Troy is that difficult then they should have said that six weeks ago.

I am sorely disappointed with not only the tardiness of the work this business did in terms of stump grinding and chip removal, they did not remove the chips from the grinding when it was finally done ( in fact, I removed the chips which, at my age, was difficult). I deducted $50.00 from the $275.00 they charged for this service and have now received a red flag from them. I was also treated to an incredibly rude and impatient communication when speaking over the phone. I will think long and hard about using this service again.

The tree came down quickly without any issues of cut lines or broken fences. The three workers were efficient and friendly. The tree carcass was removed from my front yard the next morning by a fourth employee. It all went very smoothly with no surprises.

The owner came and bid the job without us needing to be home, and received the proposal electronically. I was impressed with the foreman and crew. They are masters of their trade. Also Elisabeth the office manager is so upbeat and helpful. I will have Roots back again!

Roots did a great job on a clearance pruning and crown raise on a huge oak in our front yard. It looks great and we get so much more sunlight, and now nothing is hanging over or scraping our house. Weve already booked another job with them. They are so friendly, professional, and affordable. Ive already recommended them to so many friends and neighbors!

Had them remove 4 trees and grind the stumps. Everything was done professionally and safely. Cleaned up very well all the debris. Definitely recommend and will use again if needed.

I really wanted to support a local business, but they failed miserably. I do NOT recommend this place at all. I accepted a proposal 3 weeks ago and was told within a week they would reach out and set up a time to do the work. After waiting over a week and a half I called to ask what was going on. They said they would reach out in the next couple of days to set it up. I am now going on week 3 with still NO call or NO communication from them.

Excellent service. Came out and walked the property with me, listened to what I wanted, gave advice without pressuring for sales, and provided a detailed proposal. No delay in getting the work scheduled, work was completed cleanly and quickly, used panels to help ensure that the damage to the yard was minimal, and cleaned up the site well. We came home from a trip to find half of a Bradford Pear tree laying over our fence. We borrowed a chainsaw to get it off the fence, but we knew we were in over our heads, so we called Roots after seeing they were a local business with positive reviews. Within 48 hours, the limbs and stump were gone, as if there had never been a tree in the first place. We have a few older, diseased, trees in our front yard that we know need attention, and Rudi helped my husband come up with a clear, affordable plan to have them all removed within the year. Our interactions have been professional and in person and we are so happy we found them!

Rudy was extremely quick at responding and had my tree and stump grind down within a week. They cleaned up all debris to include the apples that had fallen to the ground. Their price was very competitive to other businesses. I highly recommend roots for any tree job or anything else you would need that they perform. I am definitely using them in the future for all tree trimming jobs or any other services that they provide.

Rudi responded to our call immediately. He brought his crew the next morning and had the tree completely removed from the house in about 4 hours. He returned the following Friday to cut down and remove the rest of the tree. They treated our property with respect and hauled everything away. We we highly recommend them!

Tree removal was done on time and with excellent cleanup. The tree stump grinding was outstanding. There was literally nothing left to indicate a stump was originally there. The tree stump grinding was an excellent value. I will use this firm again if the need arises.

Wonderful job grinding my stump

Was super happy with their communication, and availability. Rudy gave us the best quote by far out of 3 quotes. He came out ahead of schedule, which was great, double checked what we wanted (because we were only having the top part of the tree removed due to a ropes course on the bottom portion and have a few years left before roots rot but branches had started falling so kids couldnt safely use the course). Hell be our go to for all future tree removal or stump removal in our wooded lot. Honesty, integrity and hard work go a long way in our book! Thanks Roots Professional Stump Grinding!

Ive used Roots for 2 stump grinding jobs. Their prices are very competitive and the estimate process is very convenient. The guys are very nice and I highly recommend them. The 1st job I paid them to fill in the hole with dirt after the stump removal from bushes I had removed. The dirt was filled with so many rocks it took me a year to try and clear out all those rocks before planting grass seeds. The 2nd job I paid them to remove a tree stump and the chips but I still had to go back and remove remaining chips. I now have a trash can full of chips & dirt sitting in my garage. I was able to get rid of one barrel full of chips and dirt but I still have a trash can remaining. Im planning to plant grass and didnt want to plant it over wood chips as it can cause mushrooms to grow on the surface when the wood chips decay. I would say just communicate exactly what youre trying to do and they will accommodate you as much as they can.

We had several trees planted and they are flourishing. The customer service is prompt and courteous. The quality of work is superior. We have had two stumps removed also. We have been very pleased with Roots Stump Removal and will continue to do business. Highly recommend!
