Aiden gave me five star service. He really seemed to go out of his way to save me money when fixing my lawnmower. It would have cost me too much money in parts to fix my lawnmower, so it wouldn t have been worth it and he explained that to me thoroughly and gave me good suggestions on what I should do. kevin and chris did a fantastic job. as the sun went down, they were tidying our beds until last light. the following sunday (thanksgiving weekend) oswaldo & jafeth diligently tackled the remaining work to be done. we do our own yardwork throughout the year, so to indulge in a fall cleanup was well worth the investment. the edging ( a task i am terrible at), was impeccable.

Randy, Jake & Steve did an amazing job setting up our fall clean up & the completing it with a very short turn around. They also did our gutters. We couldnt be more pleased. Thanks for taking the stress of yard work off our plate this year! We will definitely use them again.

UPDATE: After having such a great experience with RILAWNS for a one time service (see below) I decided to sign up for their weekly lawn services. It has been a phenomenal experience, and I am so impressed by every member of their team thats been out to the property. I want to give special credit to the three technicians (Nacho, Oswaldo, and Jafeth) that came out today to do my fall clean up. They did an amazing job of cleaning up all the leaves and sticks that were in the yard, and I appreciate how respectful they were in the back yard working around all my garden boxes and furniture. Original Review: I needed to get my lawn mowed and cleaned up ahead of our annual memorial day party. The issue was my lawn mower was broken, and I didnt think I would have time to get it fixed before the party. I contacted Steve at RI Lawns and he was a huge help. We were able to schedule a one time mow service ahead of memorial day, and he arranged for my mower to be picked up and fixed. He was super communicative through the process and easy to work with. The team that came out did a phenomenal job. They got my yard looking better than I ever could, in way less time. I cant say enough good things about how they did. When it came to the mower repair, Aidan was awesome. He communicated clearly with me during the whole process, got it fixed in a very reasonable amount of time, and it runs great now. If I ever need more small engine repair, I would absolutely trust him again.

They came over during the horrific rain on a weekday to start their work, then came back this weekend to finish. Very happy with the results! This is our 2nd year with the Company. Chris and Kevin came to clean my gutters and did an excellent job. They let me know when they arrived. They asked if there was anything they should know about and asked if I had any questions or concerns. I let them know of one area where the gutter was overflowing and they set off. A couple of hours later they had worked their way around the house and my gutters were clean. They let me know they were done. And the area of concern, well there was a pretty good clog that they were able to take care of for me. Ive used RILAWNS for Spring Cleanup, Fertilizer Applications, Firewood, Gutter Cleaning, and Aeration & Overseeding. Ive been happy with their friendly service, prompt communication, and reasonable prices.

UPDATE (OCT. 2024): After a number of years of doing our own lawn care, weve gone back to 855-RILAWNS (formerly A Cut Above) for a variety of services: fertilization, weed and moss control, aeration and overseeding, trimming bushes, and fall cleanup. Overall, weve been very happy with the work and with the staff. Chris, who does most of the work on our property, is friendly and professional. Hell go the extra mile -- after one seeding job, he blew leaves off our driveway without being asked, just to be helpful. Steve Martino, the operations manager, has been very responsive, professional, and accommodating of our various needs. He has personally come by on a weekend to make sure everything was in good shape. One good measure of a company is how they stand by their work and respond to problems. When some spilled fertilizer burned parts of our lawn, Chris and Steve both came by promptly to reseed the damaged spots, which now look great. In our experience, this is an honest, reliable, and reasonably priced company that we recommend. ORIGINAL POST 2012: Weve had very good experiences with A Cut Above Lawn Care, whom weve hired several times for fall clean up and, most recently, to re-seed our lawn. They are reliable, professional and friendly. Prices are reasonable. The company is small enough that there is still a personal touch: the owner Justin has personally come out several times not only to provide estimates for service but to offer advice on lawn and plant care; Stephen, the office manager, is always friendly and returns calls promptly; Omar provided excellent follow-up when our lawn was re-seeded (and the results look great). The staff is very knowledgeable (Omar, for instance, has a degree in microbiology) and we appreciate their commitment to environmental sustainability and biodiversity. Wed gladly recommend A Cut Above to our friends.

Steve has been fantastic - started with mowing services and it went well so added in some soil analysis with lawn rejuvenation and then mulching and most recently some hardscaping with the creation of a new garden bed with stepping stones. Consistently fast service with excellent communication by phone and text, plus reasonable pricing - so glad I found 855-RILAWNS! Update 11-2024 - continuing to use 855-RILAWNS for lawn care and rejuvenation and mulching and recently added in some gardening services with Kevin - saves me many hours as he keeps things looking tip-top. I used RILawns for a wood delivery. Steve provided a proposal right away and was great to work with through the process. Oswaldo and Jafeth were very kind and efficient on the day of delivery. Today Chris and Jake from Roland came to my house to repair my grub damaged lawn. They were very pleasant and easy to talk to about what they would be doing. They aerated my lawn and seeded. Update 9/30/24 I ve been using 855 RILawns for my landscaping maintenance and mosquito/ tick treatment this season they ve been punctual and showed up as promissed the lawn crew has done great work and Chris whos does the mosquito application has been great checkin after he completes the work and advising what service he just performed. 855RILawns does outstanding work I just had them install new plant beds and overseed my grass. From my first interaction with Steve their sales manager he made the process seemless he knew exactly what was needed was efficient in the estimate process and scheduling of my project. The estimate was more than fair price wise and the work was excellent. I will continue to use 855RILawns for my future lawn care needs.

A shout out to both Steve and Chris These guys are major players! I assigned them two projects, one involved some land clearing and brush removal and the other was resetting a major area where stumps had been removed. I called the company as my lawn appeared to be dying and found that I had grubs which I thought my other company was treating for. Chris came over within days, we aerated, overseeded and put down grub control. He walked me through everything, and cleaned up after. Nice job, hopefully the lawns will grow back.

I recently had my lawn treated for grubs, crabgrass, fertilizer and aeration. RI Lawn came out in 2 days from the original call. The technician-Chris was very pleasant, explained to me what the scope of work included on the day of service. Chris took the time to address my questions, concerns. He was very professional and knowledgeable. All the work was completed on the same day. Chris followed up several times to see if I had any other questions. I am very pleased with this experience. I recommend Chris is your guy when it comes to point of contact on the day of treatment and service on your lawn.

Great job done by all from Steve Martino s estimate and discussion of work to be done, the folks manning the office, and especially the guys who did the yard work. It was a large job that was expected to take a full day, which it did. The two fellows who did the work labored diligently all day and did a wonderful job clearing the overgrown edges of our yard and trimming back branches and overzealous vines. Definitely recommend and will hire them again.

RI Lawns has been fantastic to work with. We did a lawn restoration project in the beginning of the year and Steve was very attentive and helpful in figuring out just what I needed. I also signed up for the lawn fertilization, weed treatments, and aeration/overseeding. Its only been a few months but I (and many neighbors) notice a huge difference. Chris and Jafeth were very helpful in getting rid of the crabgrass and helping me with doing a clover lawn in my front yard. Had a great experience from start to finish, the guys who came out were very nice and did great work with both our spring cleanup and mulching of our beds. Steve was a great point of contact all the way through, answering questions and keeping us updated on scheduling and accommodating a couple last minute changes!

We just signed up with RILAWNs and our experience thus far has been fantastic. Very smooth and professional onboarding process, which was focused more on meeting our needs than pushing the most expensive packages. RILAWNs keeps me updated on service schedule via text, which is very helpful. Steve has been very communicative during our first couple weeks with RILAWNs.

Absolutely the worst! Avoid at all costs. Mowed down established perennial gardens even though company was advised the plants were marked by fluorescent pink flags. Company rep stated they marked the account. Flags were mowed down with the plants. So much money lost on our perennials that took so long to establish. Steve, manager, is absolutely the rudest human being. Referred family to these people and they are canceling their services and switching to another provider. TOTAL NIGHTMARE. Also missed several scheduled mows-no call/no show and became very rude when asked about this issue as well. Poorly run, managed and operated. Hire at your own risk!

I highly recommend RILAWNS to anyone who wants the job done right, in a timely manner, and at a reasonable price. Steve returned my call immediately and gave me a very reasonable estimate. His crew came out two weeks later (Probably would have been earlier if not for the bad weather), and did an amazing job. They were all kind, and hard working. Weve used 855-RILAWNS for many years. Their spring cleanup is fantastic. It is marvelous to watch them swarm over the yard and make it beautiful in a fraction of the time it would take us. My back appreciates it. Matthew is easy to chat with, and gives lots of good advice. You can t beat their experience. If you are in the area they serve , I definitely recommend them.

Wet friendly and knowledgeable. Steve was very pleasant and patient with me on the phone. I explained the few places that were problematic. It was very windy but managed to not let the leaves visit the neighbors yards. Sorry i am not proficient with the camera on the phone. I am technically challenged. Will be happy to see them return.

Buyer beware. I ve had 2 services performed by Steve s team at RILawns and was charged significantly higher than the proposed price. This was after having Steve come out to survey my property and provide an estimate. The fine print in the proposal essentially says if we need extra men you will be billed per man/per hour. I had lawn cutting done last week that was proposed at $63, and was charged $136. They claim the grass was over 6 . It wasn t, except for one area on the side of the garage that they avoided. In the fall I was charged hundreds more than the estimate because they sent more guys for a minor cleanup (we have no trees on our property). The excuse from the office manager was it s in your proposal. A business can t be trusted that will bill well beyond an estimate each time. It s anyone s guess what arbitrary charges will hit my credit card each time they come. Check the negative reviews before working with this company as their billing practice have impacted multiple consumers.

Steve was very accommodating when I couldn t figure out how to make a phone appointment and I really appreciated that because my phone skills are very basic. RI Lawns did a great spring cleanup job. They were able to pick up all the pine needles and pine cones off my lawn. They took away several piles of broken branches. They cleaned up all my flower gardens including my vegetable garden in my backyard. They cleaned up all the leaves off my deck and walkways. They work fast and provided a professional service.

RILAWNS quickly lost our business when their incompetence ruined a set of mature ornamentals that lined our driveway (citing a Google search for the expertise to do it, which was Steve). Then, in a striking absence of internal communication, their team contradicted themselves about payment arrangements and became rude (Steve, again). Many other lawn care companies out there clearly communicate with clients and work with their priorities and schedules, so choose one of them. UPDATE: We have yet to receive a formal invoice for payment through the mail. However, we do receive regular harassing voicemails from Steve. Suppose the company wants to act professionally and deal with this transaction and not spend its time creating a fictional narrative for public consumption to mask incompetence. In that case, we can easily cover the bill. We will not, however, respond to voicemail and text threats and harassment.

Every spring we have a lot of tree debris down in our yard and these guys do a transformative job of cleaning it up! They pay attention to detail, yet work swiftly. Great job!

We had an unexpected event coming up and our yard was looking rough. With such short notice during the peak of spring cleaning season we had little hope of being able to find someone to return our call let alone get the job done in time. To our surprise Steve from RI lawns called us back within a few hours of receiving our request. Steve had me send him some pictures of the area to better estimate the amount of mulch needed since I was unsure and was overestimating. Within the same call he also provided some recommendations on what to plant to make a few of our beds look more complete. After receiving my estimate Steve was super patient in answering some of my questions and even altering a few things. Best of all, steve had originally told me they were fully booked a couple of weeks but would try to squeeze us in before my event. Sure enough a few days before the big day RILawns showed up and put in some work! It s not a small yard by any means but they were able to finish everything I asked for and then some. They even cleaned up some areas that weren t necessarily part of the deal. They checked every single one of my boxes. I received so many compliments about my yard that day I really had no choice but to write this review. Trust me, if you want it done right, you don t want to go with anyone else other than RILawns!

The work completed was generally acceptable, but I am disappointed by the estimate accuracy, scheduling, billing, and clean up. I would not recommend working with RI Lawns on a general labor contract until they update their practices in regards to labor charges. Estimate accuracy and contract details I read another review on Google that made me a bit hesitant to go forward with the project and I should have trusted by gut. They include text in their hourly contracts that says the people-hours / man-hours to complete the project is only an estimate and the actual amount charged is subject to change based on how fast they get the job done. This is very atypical of landscaping work (and contractors in general) and creates no incentive to get the job done efficiently. Before signing the contract, I talked to Steve about my concern and he said I am confident we can get this job done [in the estimated number of hours]. I expect the team was working a bit slower than usual since it was a hot day; however, no unexpected issues came up. When time was up on the originally allotted people-hours, only about 2/3rds of the job was finished. I talked to Steve and he agreed to split the cost of the additional labor. This practice feels very unfair to customers (almost like a bait and switch) as you re essentially just signing up to pay for an undefined number of labor hours at a very high hourly rate when you have no control over how fast and efficiently they will work. The work could have been finished in the allotted time or it could have even been completed faster if they worked very quickly, but instead a poor estimate and/or slow work meant I had to pay more to complete the job. The company needs to move towards firm quotes instead of soft estimates. Have confidence in your knowledge of the time required to complete a job and bite the bullet when you underestimate the job instead of sticking customers with higher than expected bills (especially when no unexpected issues come up). Scheduling On 6/23, 6/30, and 7/5 it was confirmed that the work would be completed on 7/6 with work starting in the morning. I cleared my schedule and woke up early for the crew s arrival. Early afternoon and no one had shown up. I reached out for an update and was told that my project was actually pushed to 7/7 due to the July 4th holiday. It s a bit mystifying that a federal holiday sneaks up and impacts scheduling, especially when the contract says We come as Scheduled. Period. Billing After the back and forth with the additional charges, I was carefully monitoring my email for a final bill (for payment of the second half of the work). Before receiving an invoice, I noticed my credit card (which I was required to put on file) had been charged. My credit card should not have been charged without receiving a final bill. Clean Up After the crew was done, I noticed quite a bit of small stones in my yard (the job was creating a stone patio). I did not ask the crew to pick up the stones as I would have continued to be charged by the hour. I spent several hours picking the stones up to avoid the risk of my lawn mower throwing one across the yard. I know the crew would have picked up the loose stones if I asked, but I would have continued to be charged overages.

Moments after I had left a voice mail, with my info, I received a phone call from Steve and set up an appointment for an estimate the following morning at 9:00am. Due to increasing allergy problems, yard work became a seriously unpleasant chore, taking hours and usually meaning at least a day or two with extra itching, sneezing, and watery eyes. We saw a little ad on a post at the bottom of our street, and decided to check them out. We are so glad we did. These folks are great! Everyone is local and friendly, and are truly happy to have our business. We even had some improvements done to the yard; with help from Chris, Jace, and Nathan, we were able to get beautiful, thriving plants and gorgeous stones/mulch. UPDATE 7/27/23: We have continued on now as customers of RI Lawns all this time, and I am happy to report that the service has remained wonderful. The communication from this company has been witnessed to be poor and accusatory, over a $20 discrepancy. After seeing their practices, I would highly recommend ensuring you put a time cap on the expected work, because they will sit on your property for an extensive amount of time in the truck prior to beginning work and you will be billed. They lack clear and friendly communication, and should not be used unless you proceed with explicit consent and understanding of the billing process. Editing to respond- I do not need to be an active client to attest to the customer service and make a recommendation for future clients to take into account prior to using RILAWNS. It would appear that you re using this as an approach to censor reviews to boost your rating.

Fire wood is not the quality that is claimed on the website. It is not seasoned enough for the price. $350 for a cord and it wont burn properly until I season it for a few more months. Update: the owner has reached out to me to adjust the price of the wood to reflect the quality of the wood and assured me that this is an isolated incident. Based on the actual price I ended up paying paired with an honest businessman that reached out to make it right I have increased my rating.

These guys removed over 32 cubic yards of leaves and undergrowth from a forested section of my yard in a day and a half and did a GREAT job. Coordinating with Nathan was smooth and efficient and Will and his team far exceeded our expectations with their results! Other than the cleared out section of forest, you couldnt even tell they were ever here due to their meticulous clean. Highly recommend their services!

Avoid if you dont like surprise $3500 bills. Edit to address company s response: First: the credit card company did not side with them. We were unable to proceed with the dispute because we did not have a sales receipt. We should have asked for one at the time, that s on us. But they didn t give us one so we don t have the documentation to proceed. If the company would like to send us one so we can continue with the dispute, I d be glad to send it to the credit card company and see whose side they take. You have my email. Second: they gave an estimate based on the wrong property square footage. This was their mistake, not ours. To quote their email to me, they say the difference in square footage between what was in the estimate and our actual property lines resulted in a significant impact on the time . But rather than let us know there had been a misunderstanding, they just went ahead and did significantly more work than the estimate accounted for, then claimed we had asked for it to be added. This did not happen. I asked for an estimate for our yard, not 2/3rds of it. I m a public school teacher and the main breadwinner in my family. This yard cleanup cost more than I take home in a month. I would never have casually agreed to a major addition to the scope of the work. Lastly, as for the contract language, if potential customer feels it is normal for a company to exceed a quote by 5X with zero attempt to warn the customer of rising costs before or during the job, then by all means select this company to do your yard work. Original review: This company quoted us $695 for a fall cleanup. We were aware that our lawn was in bad shape due to my pregnancy and an accident that left my husband unable to do yard work for some time. I emailed them letting them know that the $695 was the maximum we could spend. We scrimped and saved for that $695 to get a lawn clean up because, despite the fact that we could barely afford it, we felt a responsibility to our neighborhood to keep our lawn in good shape. Not being in physical shape to do it, hiring a company was our only option. We had never paid for a lawn cleanup before, so as far as we knew, $695 was a reasonable price. They came and cleaned our yard. Then a few days later, with no offer of a receipt or warning, my credit card was charged $3,500. This was right before Christmas, no less. When we asked for an explanation, they informed us that the yard was in bad shape (isnt that what an estimate is for?) and that the day they arrived we had asked to add on a large part of the yard that wasnt in our original estimate (this was completely untrue, we assumed our entire yard was part of the estimate and no one informed us that they had made an error regarding our property lines). We attempted to discuss this with them, but they simply stopped responding. I understand that this is a business transaction and emotions dont enter into it... but this companys dishonesty and shady dealing have had a significant impact on my familys finances. We have had to make difficult choices that impact our children. This is why Ive chosen to leave reviews. Unfortunately, since they never sent us a receipt, my credit card company is unable to take any action. At this point I can only assume they knew this would be the case.

I have been a client of Cut Above Lawn Care for quite a few years now and I have been impressed with the care and professionalism shown by all staff members. I have had this company install a stone walkway (which is beautiful) I have had them clear an area of bushes and am in the process of having them prepare and plant that area.
