Ramiro and his crew did a great job rebuilding our collapsing retaining wall. They dug new footings, added the missing drainage, and went above and beyond in an area that was difficult to work in. Reasonable charges, too. Highly recommended!

They are meticulous; they use quality materials and construction methods and the results reflect this attention to detail. Most recently we asked Ramiro to help us design a new paver patio retreat in our backyard, including a fire pit and lighting effects. Ramiro and his crew installed privacy trees in our back yard and added a mulch bed this Spring. Everything turned out better than I could have imagined. I was extremely happy from the time I called for an estimate, the initial walk of the property, and installation of the landscape. Every detail was covered for the job, Ramiro provided an itemized list of costs and was very transparent with the entire process. Communication was excellent! We also hired Merino Landscape to dig our downspout run-offs last Fall and they did an amazing job with that as well. We will continue to use them for all of our landscape needs.

We had been looking for quite some time for someone to help us find a solution for erosion control on the steep slope in our back yard but contractor after contractor declined saying it would be too labor-intensive, too costly, or they just weren't comfortable or qualified to work in the conditions. Then another service pro we use recommended Merino Landscape. Ramiro promptly returned my call and set an appointment right away to come out and look the site over. He spent a fair amount of time talking with us that day about what could be done within our budget. We decided on building a two-sided retaining wall, or 'corner' with backfill to raise the area to level it to the highest spot of the exisiting yard. The plan also included underground draininage from the back corner downspout to discharge away from the yard along with and grass seeding the new topsoil. Ramiro gave us options for the block style and color and was up front about his full schedule, noting that it could be several weeks before he could start which was fine with us. We received a handwritten estimate by text followed by an official quote via email within a couple of days of his visit and had sufficient communitation in the weeks leading up to when the work could start. We expected to put down 1/2 of the amount due when it would be time to purchase materials, but Ramiro told us he'd get it the day work started. Work started on a Wednesday and Ramiro double-checked again on what our expectations were and the crew got right to it. I asked about the deposit and he said he'd get it later. Despite having to make multiple trips from the front of the house to the back with construction materials and a Bobcat, they were as careful as they could be to keep damage to grass in other areas of the property to a minimum. The crew was efficient and extremely meticulous. The excavation for the foundation perimeter and the precise footing and stack of the blocks gives me confidence that the construction will prevent further erosion for many years. The work was completed by Friday of that same week, and it looks fantastic! It is solid, perfectly aligned and beautifully constructed. The grass started coming up within a couple of days and should be nice and lush before too long. The only hiccup was in getting payment made. I should have gotten more direct instruction on what payment method was to be expected. We presumed credit card, but at the end of the job, we were asked for split payment of cash/check. It was a bit of a scramble because it was already the weekend and our bank was closed and doesn't allow such large ATM withdrawals, but in the end we worked it out with Ramiro and were able to arrange a couple of extra days to get the invoice paid. Other than that, 10/10 - would call Ramiro and his crew again in a heartbeat. Their work is outstanding!

Merino Landscape LLC provided a detailed estimate/quote indicating the approximate cost of materials and services to be rendered. Merino removed four trees, ground the stumps, and graded to ground level. In addition, Merino removed the rotted timber retaining walls, shored up the gravel drainage system and replaced the walls with new pressure treated timbers. Merino’s estimate was higher than the others I received, but I was impressed with his detail and obvious knowledge of doing my project. The only drawback was failure to be precise with start and finish date, but that is likely consistent with the landscaping industry. I would recommend Merino.
