Service for several years, worked out well for a while. I was recently charged for mowing in the winter which was obviously not done. They won't give me my money back and they didn't even charge my card till their "dispute deadline" was reached!!!
My sister contracted them, paid $65 up front. Nobody showed. Delayed till Friday, again no show. Phone calls were not returned. When finally getting through to a person they hung up on her. Check BBB website to read more complaints.
This is possibly the worst company you could possibly go with. Their policies are terrible and it's just a way to keep you in contract, always going from one shady contractor to another. I've hired this company approximately 2 months ago and I'm still waiting for my first cut. Called them 6 separate times with zero customer satisfaction. They offer no proper solution and refuse to cancel the contract with you. Please go anywhere else and save yourself the headache. If I could give zero stars I would because 1 star implies that there is some aspect of this business that works. I a have no experienced that aspect.
This company by far is the most atrocious business I’ve ever worked with. They constantly cut our neighbors grass thinking it was ours, then they charge us and give us a hard time giving our money back. I don’t know how they are still in business. We also have a front yard and backyard, we asked them to cut both, they would just cut the front and charge us for cutting both, straight robbery. Don’t do buisness with these people. Cancelling now
This company is absolutely atrocious. They will have you go through all of the work to set things up. Give you a confirmed start date, and then without warning cancel you on the day they are supposed to show up. After calling they will confirm they can make it work and reset everything up, have you wait another 4-5 days and then have it cancelled again. When you call they’ll tell you they already knew it was at capacity in your area but have you waiting anyways knowing they will not be able to help you. Their customer service will just ask you to put in another start date and after 3 attempts they have had me waiting for weeks and are now telling me there’s nothing they can do but set it back up. This is the worst business I have ever had to deal with. No honesty. No transparency. And they will intentionally have you waiting and relying on them when they know they can’t help but won’t give you the courtesy to call and let you know that. Just awful.
In retrospect, the low prices should have been an indication that the deal they offered was too good to be true. We scheduled service for May 16th, and the company texted me a link confirming the appointment. They also sent me a link confirming that the appointment was scheduled for 5/16 OR 5/17. They also started sending me texts asking me if I wanted to sign up for the exact service I'd already signed up for. I called them for clarification and they could not give me a straight answer on when they were coming. They only told me that it was now too late to cancel the service, but they would call me back to discuss the details. The 16th came and went. No call-back came, no service was provided. I called toward the end of the business day and was told that it was too late to cancel the service, but if I wanted more information, I could wait on hold for what I was assured would be "only a couple of minutes" while they transferred me to customer service. Twenty minutes later, I realized that nobody was going to pick up the phone. The 17th came and went. No call-back came, no service was provided. I called on the morning of the 18th. Once again, I was repeatedly assured that I would be transferred to customer service. Nobody picked up. It's now very clear that I will never get that repeatedly promised transfer to customer service, and very unclear whether someone is coming or not. I eventually paid for another service to mow the lawn, but the ONLY thing LawnStarter had been able to assure me that if their guys do show up, we will be charged regardless of whether or not they provide the service. All I know is that they collected my credit card information back when I originally made my appointment, and now this company, which has repeatedly demonstrated bad faith and dishonesty, has my credit card info.
Their policies are weird. I had some short grass and some tall grass and they couldn't or wouldn't give me an accurate quote until they saw my lawn, which is fine I totally understand. The weird part is they wanted me to give them my credit card number over the phone before they would come to see the property. I told them I wasn't going to give them my payment information until I knew how much was going to cost. They assured me they weren't going to charge me unless I accepted their offer and booked them, but if that's really true then you don't need my credit card number in order just to make an appointment. I didn't use their lawn care services, but their customer service policies are one star.
I really enjoy this service. Great pricing, and love that I am updated of any changes with service or change in work crew. I always know who will be at my home and updated if my scheduled service is changed due to weather or other circumstances. The account set up was easy and I really enjoy having the app to communicate with LawnStarter if needed or see when my services are scheduled. Jose Louis and his crew do such a great job on my lawn, I believe I will be a life long customer. Thanks guys.
What a mess of a company... still waiting for a first cut since August 18th... very disappointing!!!

Worse experience with any company of my life. Don t even bother with them. Your grass will be a forest before anyone shows up. Couldn t even get good enough service to do the lawn projects needed.

If you re looking for a reliable lawncare service, i would save yourself the hassle of giving this service a shot. Crews are incredibly unreliable and will cancel day of because of inclement weather on a 75 degree sunny day or equipment malfunction on Friday going into a holiday weekend. Meanwhile your grass will be calf-high and they ll push out the reschedule for 7 days later. I gave this a shot over a two month period of time, asked to switch crews, received the same experience with both crews. Oh, and when they do cut it, they don t do a very good job- leaving grass clippings all over your lawn, average job weed whacking perimeter. Don t waste your time here.
Look elsewhere, this service is unreliable. I had a mow scheduled for May 20th. I had to file a ticket when the crew never showed up (without any communication). I received a response many days later and was rescheduled for May 27-28. On May 26th it rained, while it was sunny and dry on the 27th and 28th. Then I received a notification that I was being delayed due to inclement weather until June 1st. I messaged the provider asking if he could come on the 28th still and explained the situation that my grass was way too long, I had been delayed already and needed the lawn mowed for the weekend. The provider responded sure, but failed to show up, again without any communication. I was scheduled for June 1-2, and then at around noon on the 2nd, received a notification that, due to inclement weather (again after two days of good weather), I was being delayed until the 12th?!
If I could give half a star I would!! These people are VERY UNRELIABLE!! I have had my appointment with them canceled and rescheduled by them 3 times in one week! Meanwhile my grass is growing like a forest !! If you want your service to be done on time, I suggest you NOT do business with them!!! As Im writing this review, Im on hold with them for 10 minutes so far!!

Im so surprised to hear that people found them unreliable. I had to get my lawn done quickly because my husband was sick. They fit me in within a week. I love the text updates. Ive been happy.

Be careful when you order lawn mowing service from LawnStarter; if your grass is extra tall. They would tell you it would be a extra charge but won t tell you the ballpark of how much. They charge me double the amount to cut my lawn (Just plain ridiculous). I now see why I hesitated for months to use them. If you have used any discounts for your service, they would try to get back every penny from you. So disappointed.
Wasnt happy with the service
If you are looking for a professional company that keeps their word and is responsive to your inquiries, this is not the company for you! This company cancelled my account without informing me. Ive never worked with a company with so little integrity! I also requested several quotes for additional services and there were times that they never replied; its almost like they didnt want MY business. I will be sure to post on every site to let customers know that this is not a good company to do business with. Extremely disheartening!
They are only available to take on new customers, will so happy to take your credit card info to clock you in but when you need to speak to someone they switch you over to nothing!! You wait online for customer service they a machine verify your name and number and let you know someone will call you back and they never do!! This company sucks! and I do not recommend using them! You are better off using your neighborhood Lawncare person because at least you can get them on the phone and you know who you re dealing with! LawnStarter is TRASH!!!! Don t bother signing up!!!!

Darrell, did an excellent job on my lawn while I was at work. It was great to come home to a clean cleared lawn. Its very calming to sit in your yard and relax after a long drive home after work. I need additional services done and I will get them done in August, and trust Darrell to assist me with those services.
The site/app are quick and easy with friendly local mowers and you dont have to deal with the hassle of coordinating and paying separately as its all done online. Communication is good after the crew services your property but a little more notice in advance the day before arrival would make the service 5 stars.
Joshua has mowed my lawn twice now and has done a great job. I am really pleased with what he has done including the trim. I highly recommend him to everybody. Thank you, Josh.
