We worked with TJ Collins over the course of a year to completely overhaul our yard and make it more usable. We were very happy working with Terry and his team on the design process and installation. They helped us install new hardscaping which included a very long wall along the sidewalk, regraded the yard to create a more usable flat surface, and installed large perennials and trees as well as raised garden beds. They also helped us mitigate water flow. The results are beautiful!
Terry built a large retaining wall (100+ feet) for us in 2016 with a 5 year warranty. The wall looked fantastic but began to buckle slightly in year 4. Unclear if it was just due to the large amount of water which naturally flows down our hill or because neighbors above us had trees removed (with a crane truck!). Regardless: Terry sent a crew back to our house and spent a full week repairing and strengthening the existing wall with geogrid. He honored the warranty and the wall is brand new and stronger than ever. I am grateful that he was our contractor because a lesser one likely would not have done the repair so long after the initial construction!
Thank you so much to TJ and his team (especially Natalie!) for their generous donation of time and materials to Nashoba Learning Group, a school for children and young adults with autism. Their generous donation allowed us to complete raise garden beds and a memory garden. This donation allows students to practice vocational skills in landscaping and gardening. We are so appreciative of their help!
Terry and his crew transformed my backyard into something that is absolutely gorgeous and that I would have never imagined possible. I had worked with a different landscaper previously and was not pleased with their work that they left unfinished. I was very hesitant to have someone else come out to do the work and considered doing it on my own but I am very happy with the end results and it's something that I never could have done myself. From the first moment I contacted Terry, his daughter was in contact with me via email as requested and Terry was in touch throughout the entire process. His crew is absolutely wonderful and they work very hard to make sure everything is perfect. The project I had in mind at first grew as soon as I met Terry and knew that the job was going to be done right. My dog and I can now enjoy the backyard without me having to worry about her getting into anything.
Terry and his team were professionals with a commitment to quality and excellence. They brought a tasteful visionary eye to the blue stone hardscape and the accent lighting project that brought my house to life and transformed my front walk from what looked like a DIY project to a show piece. They built it into the side of a hill that sloped in two different directions which is very challenging and almost requires an engineer's touch. Terry's team of Bobby and Luis not only worked in 100 degree heat in July/August for 8-10 hour days, but were respectful family oriented professionals. They accommodated the 20 questions from my curious 6 yr old and left her laughing and excited about the project.
This spring we hired Terry and his crew to put down a patio in our backyard, based on our good experience when TJ Collins did some landscaping for us several years ago. They did a great job on the patio, showed up when they said they would, and were personable and accommodating throughout the process. We were having trouble making up our mind on some of the details but the guys were patient and offered good suggestions to get us on track. Along with the patio in back, we also had them put down new sod in the front yard, and asked them to perform what we described as "cleanup" on the front yard -- basically we wanted them to remulch and pull out some of the shrubs that no longer looked good. As happy as we were with the back we were stunned by how much better the front looked when they finished. Our pre-existing stone walkway now looks like it was just put in, and the lawn looks fantastic. We had talked to Terry about returning for a couple maintenance visits over the summer, but he never got back to us about it even after a couple reminder emails; but as it turned out they left the yard in such good shape that we were able to keep up with it pretty well without the outside help. Thus our only minor complaint is that quick email responses are not Terry's strong suit. An indication of our overall happiness is that we hope to have TJ Collins back next year to add a couple more things to our yard project. Highly recommended!

With giant trees that overwhelmed the house, bedraggled bushes and shrubs, and a walkway that turned into a pond whenever it rained, our front yard needed serious help! In short order, Terry and his team worked wonders -- removing all the existing trees and shrubs, building a gorgeous stone walkway, installing an irrigation system, creating a new landscape design, and planting new shrubs, trees, and perennials. Through it all, Terry and the team were professional, responsible, hard-working, reliable, and always focused on customer service. We are incredibly happy with our new front yard!!
Terry and his crew made a generous donation of soil to Nashoba Learning Group, a non-profit school for autistic children located in Bedford. When I contacted Terry he didn t hesitate to offer his extensive knowledge and worked with everyone s schedule to make the delivery happen in a timely fashion! The day of delivery Natalie came with the truck and kindly stayed to help unload all of the soil into the garden beds not only donating materials but her time. Nashoba Learning Group is very appreciative of TJ Collins Landscaping for their kindness and professionalism!
We thought this business was strictly patios and plantings and we re pleasantly surprised to find lawn care was offered as well. This is our first season with Terry and his men plus Alison and Natalie, and we are very happy with all of their work to make our property cared for once again. The workers are genuinely careful, courteous and cordial, and also appear to have a good working relationship with each other. This is Big!

Terry, Jonathan and crew are the best. Great design and execution of sizable landscape plan, including plantings, irrigation, stone walkways and lighting. We are very happy with the outcome of our landscaping project. TJ Collins put in irrigation, sod, a stone pathway, and plantings. The crew was hardworking , extremely skilled, knowledgeable and thoughtful. They went above and beyond at the end of each work day, making sure they left the areas under construction clean and safe for my young family.

Although TJ was very nice, his crew made several mistakes during our landscaping project of 10K . Most of the plants died - even though we watered and did exactly what he said to do. Many of the trees began to lean after a year or so - we had a line of trees planted along a fence for privacy. We still had an outstanding balance when the job was finished, but because there were so many plants that died before he was done, we both opted to just call it quits. Technically, we could have asked for money back, but we decided to just move on. Too bad - the patio work was actually pretty good that his guys did.
TJ Collins Landscaping provided excellent input on design. The landscape crew were courteous, talented and on time. We were extremely pleased with our new patio, seating wall and plantings. In addition, TJ Collins were quick to respond to any questions or issues that developed during construction and equally willing to follow-up on minor issues post-construction.

We worked with TJ Collins in the summer of 2017 on a project at our Newton home. It involved hardscaping and planting. Terry and crew were very responsive and professional, offering up suggestions and constructive feedback on our ideas, talking to neighbors and the city inspector to allay any concerns about the project, and ultimately creating a lovely garden for us. We rely on TJ Collins for our regular landscaping maintenance in addition to enhancing new features to our yard. Shortly after we purchased our home, Terry and his crew created a flat playground area for our kids, which quickly became our most-used space, and enhanced our outdated irrigation system to accommodate the new sod he laid down for us. After our home remodel, Terry and his team installed pavers for our walkway and driveway that greatly enhanced the look and functionality of our home. He also designed plantings for the front of our porch that were durable and worked with our budget. In addition to his reliability and quality of work, Terry and his team take a personal approach to our landscaping needs. Terry himself has met with us several times to discuss our plans and always respected our budgetary and scheduling needs.
