Our Home Owners Association needed to find a solution to our soil erosion issues. We investigated many landscape design companies and decided James Martin and Associates was the company that would best meet our needs. They listened to our concerns and came up with a plan that not only controls the erosion in one of our cul-de-sacs but is also aesthetically pleasing and stayed within our budget. We have additional areas that need to be addressed that we will be continuing to work with JMA in an effort to continue to remediate our soil erosion issues.

James Martin Associates Landscaping based in Mundelein IL are experts in all aspects of landscaping services. Not only the maintenance and beautification of the homeowners property, but also for special projects. Which in our case, was solving a complex drainage problem that caused water to collect at the foundation in front of our home. The original homeowner had graded the property incorrectly. Every time it rained, there would be standing water accumulating at the foundation. The Martin Team designed a drainage system that channeled water away from the foundation and deposited it underground, 15 away from the house. No more water problem! In terms of weekly maintenance, our 2-man crew did an outstanding job. Lawncare and edging are always impeccable. Treatments for crabgrass, weeds, insects etc., are performed in a timely and consistent manner. By having a single point of contact, our Martin Account rep stayed in regular communication with us and addressed any issues immediately. His follow up is excellent. Would strongly recommend Martin & Associates to any homeowner looking to have the best landscaping in the neighborhood!

We engaged Aaron Schlines and James Martin Associates to design and develop a significant renovation and expansion of our backyard. Our project involved designing a new master plan for our yard after purchase of a neighboring lot, and involved design and installation of a pool, spa, fire pit areas, retaining walls, patio, grading, fencing and landscaping. Aaron did a terrific job in guiding us through various design options and accommodating our numerous changes and requests. Due to external complexities involving need to alter property easements and move above-ground utilities, the entire project took much longer than we had initially estimated or communicated to Aaron, but Aaron and the entire Martin Associates team remained incredibly patient and collaborative throughout the project. Once we got underway, the team (led by Aaron overall and Ramon on a day-to-day basis) was very professional and responsive. We are thrilled with the final project and enjoying it immensely. Aaron and the Martin team were wonderful to work throughout the process and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to do an outdoor project!

We bought a brand new house that came with large yards but no landscaping. The designers at James Martin created a 3 year plan to spread the costs. All phases are now complete and we love the final product. All the workers have been friendly, expert and extremely hard working. We get so many compliments from neighbors and even passers-by!

I worked with Aaron and had a great experience. He came up with some concepts for me. I told him what things I liked and disliked about each and he merged them into an updated concept which was just about perfect. A few more small adjustments and we were ready to get it done! The team did a beautiful job with the work and were very careful not to cut any existing sprinkler lines or low voltage lighting.

We have used James Martin Associates now on several Hardscaping projects. Our Rep Charlie Kempke has made the process very easy, clearly laying out what work will be done. Their work has been completed with a high level of quality, and done in a timely manner, along with having very competitive pricing.

Used JMA for a backyard upgrade and they were great from initial meeting to final permit closeout. Our designer was attentive to our style and incorporated multiple options for us to choose from. Once plans were settled, permitting and construction were well communicated and couldnt be happier with the end result. We broke our project into two summers to ease the budget and JMA was open and helpful in splitting up work to focus on hardscapes one year and planting the next. Total pros, and totally recommend!

We ve lived in our house for 28 years and used several other landscapers, but James Martin Associates is by far the best. They have exceeded our expectations since our first spring cleanup and continue to do so with their superior weekly maintenance. When I saw that they had staked my hydrangeas without being asked or tacking on an up charge, my jaw dropped! They even trimmed some overgrown yews. They are a bit more expensive than other landscapers, but we got a discount by paying for the season in advance. They continue to impress us every week with work that is careful, thorough and professional. We couldn t be happier!

We worked with a landscape architect, Janet C., to redesign our very small backyard. We wanted a private, beautiful space to relax and also an area to garden for our children. Janet provided three wonderful designs with different price points. We were able to choose what we liked and combine to a final design with Janets expertise. There was significant additional labor involved due to a gas line needing to be up to code and moved. We were not charged for this additional labor from James Martin, only for the expense for the gas company Janet needed to hire. The men who performed the labor worked very hard, full days and were very respectful and artistic. I called Janet 6 months after the completion of our project to ask about the health of our shrubs and trees. She came out again and called to coach me through how to take care of them, and I will call again in the spring if any need to be replaced, as James Martin has a one year warranty. Overall, we are extremely pleased and so glad we went with such a professional company due to the fact we ran into a few complications with a gas line! Everything was taken care of and Janet remained positive the entire time! Highly recommend James Martin if you want things done right, safely and beautifully!

Martin Associates designed and constructed a new stone patio and surrounding landscaping for us in summer 2021. Our designer Janet Cherbak really listened to our input and produced an elegant design that fit our space and incorporated extra features like a seat wall, gas fire bowl and completely new drainage system. Janet oversaw all aspects of design and construction, which was completed on time and on budget. We have gotten great enjoyment from our new patio and expect to keep using it well into the fall.

Martin keeps our business campus lawn and plantings healthy, neat and tidy.
