Schmechtig Landscapes in Mundelein

We are about 5 weeks in with our first Maintenance Contract with Schmechtig Landscaping. We have periodically used various Landscaping Services throughout the 35+ years. So far Schmechtig has been the best. Our maintenance supervisor Anthony has been wonderful to work with. He has always promptly replied to our numerous questions & doesn’t hesitate to make a site visit. Steven our maintenance manager is awesome. Not only did he take the time & interest to understand our needs & concerns, he pays attention. He stops by after his crew has been here to make sure we are happy. Our crew, led by Moses is outstanding!! They take their time & are so hardworking & thorough. They are all so knowledgeable about what needs or should be done to have our yard looking its best. We’ve also had additional services performed & every team member that has been here has been professional.

Lisa is absolutely fantastic. Knowledgable, creative, inspired and indefatigable. Her design skills are superb and on site implementation is flawless. She is a treasure for anyone having the privilege to work with her and an invaluable asset for this company. Always a pleasure to have her add her magic to our landscape. Louise

Schmechtig is more than our landscaper. Besides making our grass the greenest in the neighborhood, they also help take care of our perennials and prune our trees. This year they even put up our Holiday decorations.

Schmechtig Landscapes is a full service operation. For the past 10 years they have taken care of all of my landscaping needs and my lawn looks beautiful. Full service means they take care of fertilizing, weed control and maintain my sprinkler system. There are many service options to select from.The crew workers are friendly and professional. I have an excellent relationship with my Schmechtig account manager and he is always quick to respond to an email or text. I also worked with a landscape designer to create a beautiful paver front walk and new front landscaping. They have provided power washing and upkeep of my paver patio. I highly recommend this company.

We have been using Schmechtig for the last few years to help us create a landscape plan to improve our yard and weave together the many various providers we have used in the past. Ling and her team have been creative, professional, and deliver projects on time. More importantly, everything they planted looks great and has flourished. Our yard looks great and keeps getting better.

We hired Schmechtig for a full patio redesign and front and back landscaping. They did a really beautiful and detailed design for us and were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the whole process. They finished and started exactly on the days and times they promised and the quality of work was outstanding. We love the space and would definitely suggest them to others!

Mark and I both appreciate our account manager, Matthew. He is responsive and always ready to help. He offers practical solutions for problem areas that are attractive and that work well. The maintenance crew members are unfailingly friendly and polite. They do a good job with the lawn and weeds as well as shrubs. We have been happy with our service over these last four years. Ling, the landscape architect we have worked with, has beautiful design ideas that are also workable. We have worked extensively with her. It’s amazing how Ling has improved our property. She understands exactly what types of plants will thrive in the conditions we have, including a large pond. I highly recommend Schmechtig Landscapes for everything from weekly maintenance to large and even very projects.

I have worked with Schmechtig for the past 4 years and engaged them for both landscape architecture, lighting, irrigation and ongoing maintenance (as well as snow removal). Suffice it to say, I have experience with them across multiple services and years. Although I enjoyed working with their design people (very pleasant and knowledgeable), I cannot say anything positive about their ongoing service and maintenance. They are happy to bill you quickly and at full market prices, but the quality of their maintenance crews is laughable. Effectively, they are a mow & go company while charging full service. I continually found large weeds in my beds that even a cursory look would find on the same days that the crews visited. I reached out the supervisor (who was a nice guy) but nothing improved. And this was a complaint I expressed over several seasons. I also engaged Schmechtig on to water all my lawns and flower beds and although they happily charge me for that service (start up in the spring), the lawns and beds look awful. Dead flowers and sprinklers heads that are not working. In a last ditch effort I wrote a direct email to the owners of the company and rather than taking the time to respond, they had their maintenance guy follow-up with me (which I had reached out to initially to express my frustration). I started this relationship with high hopes, but I am utterly disappointed and would advise you to go elsewhere.
