Finding this company was a dream come true...a real life saver for us! They provided great communication throughout the various projects we had for them to do. Everyone worked hard and was professional. We needed a lot of dirt and sod in our backyard, as well as a French drain installed to help with a soggy backyard at times throughout the year. They got us on their schedule and thankfully completed everything just as the weather was starting to transition to wintery conditions. I plan on hiring them again to add a wider mulch border around our backyard. I am very pleased with this company.

Pollina staff did a great job trimming my overgrown trees and bushes to prepare for winter. In addition, at my request, I was given a quote for new plantings and other work to improve my backyard. Tommy Pollina Landscaping (TPL) installed both of our hardscape and softscape plans over 20 years ago. Our hardscaping needed to be updated and refreshed as they were lannon stone based walks and stacked walls. Time and weather inevitably take their toll over any such installation. TPL came out and reset, power washed and tuckpointed all of the stonework. Once the work was completed we immediately received multiple compliments on the work. It was a job well done...both times.

Joe Pollina was wonderful listening to what I was looking for and offering great advice and a good landscape plan. Lorenzo and his crew did an excellent job with installation, making sure plant placement was exactly right. The office staff was responsive and friendly. All in all, a great experience.

Tommy Pollina is an excellent company to work with. They actually tried to talk me out of some work that may have made them more money but was not necessary to solve the scope of work for my project. Whitney, Alphonso and the team did a great job installing a French drain in our yard to redirect where standing water collects. The cost was reasonable, the team took great care of our yard, and they were very flexible as the project morphed a little bit. Highly recommended and thinking of switching to them for landscape design and maintenance.

I have a first floor condo corner unit and the Board of Directors allowed me to landscape my corner with perennials. Over the years it had become increasing difficult to find Landscaping companies that would assist me with this project and if they did their work was not great, but this year I called Tommy Pollina ! I had heard them recommended by Lou Manfredini on WGN radio, but always thought they were too big a company to take my little job. Boy, was I wrong ! They our fabulous ! They sent Whitney to meet with me and walk me through what I wanted and give suggestions. She then came again on the first day of service to make sure the work crew knew exactly what to do. I was treated by everyone at the company like I was their most important customer and my garden has never looked better. My neighbors are always taking pictures of my flowers and even bring their grandchildren to take their picture with the flowers. Tommy Pollina is the BEST landscaping company !

I am thrilled with the work they did and absolutely recommend them. We had an old French drainage system in our backyard that was no longer able to disburse the water correctly. This was causing pooling and buildup, making about a quarter of our backyard mushy and unusable. We had 3 different companies come out to give us estimates. Not only did Tommy take cost into consideration, but his design best suited our concerns and goals. They ripped out the old drainage system and replaced it with a longer run of perforated PVC that was able to tap into an existing underground drain system. They also added a large underground flo well to handle the excess water. They worked fast and were done in one day and cleaned up beautifully. Afterwards, we had a lot of rain in early May and the new system handled it all. Tommy and his team gave us our backyard back. Thank you!

I hired Tommy Pollina Landscaping to work on my back yard which required regrading , re-sodding and removal of dead shrubs and trees. The whole job was great from start to finish. We had bushes in front of our place that had been there for over 50 years. They were completely overgrown and out of control! Our neighbor has used Tommy Pollina for years and suggested we give them a try. Joe came over and made some suggestions. we gave him the go ahead and after some back and forth we settled on design and plants. His crew came out and in a half day ripped out all the roots, added soil and put in all the plants! It was like a miracle! They cleaned up after and you wouldn t know they were there except for our beautiful front yard! Thanks, Joe and crew!

We used Tommy Pollina Landscaping (Mt. Prospect, IL) to fix all of the drainage problems that we were having in our backyard and our side yard. Larry, our salesman was very thorough, which, of course we appreciated. Once the guys came to do the job, their work was GREAT!!! They were professional, hard-working and accommodating!!! Their work was EXCELLENT!!! They worked hard, and helped us to achieve exactly what we were looking for. They laid sod in our backyard after they laid all of the PVC piping to fix the drainage issues. The sod looked really good, as did the way that they installed the PVC piping. A huge shout out to the foreman, Alfonso, who was our main point of contact once the job began. He was understanding of our concerns and made sure that he accomplished all of our requests. After they were done, Alfonso and the team cleaned up and made our backyard and side yard look really good. During the project, to our surprise, the owner, Joe Pollina came to our house to check things out. He assured us that if we needed anything further that they would come back and fix whatever needed fixing. That was fantastic, and we really appreciated him coming out and meeting him. Very happy with their snow removal contract. They do an excellent job in a timely manner whenever it snows.

We have been dealing with water drainage issues in the back yard and between our house and a neighbors. We always had half of our driveway covered with ice most of the winter and the backyard couldn t be mowed till late May because of the wet and soft soil. Tommy Pollina came out and assessed the situation and put together a plan to remedy the issue. This was the first winter without ice covering the bottom half of the driveway, and the backyard was mowed several times in April. We recommend their services, listen to their proposal and do not short cut it. Great Job!!!!

We hired Tommy Pollina to re-grade and re-sod our front yard. Theirs wasnt the lowest estimate, but were glad we went with them. Joe came out and assessed the project and filled us in on all of our options. He and his staff communicated exactly what would be done and when it would be done, no surprises. They tore out the old turf, rototilled the underlying soil, augmented it with additional topsoil, did a rough grade, a final grade and then laid down 380 rolls of sod. Even with the large crew he committed, the project took several days to complete. The crew was efficient, clean and did a fantastic job. The crew chief was very professional. Joe came out midway through the project to make sure everything was proceeding as planned. He and I talked for a long time about what was being done and how to properly care for the lawn afterwards. We couldnt have asked for better results or a better crew and staff to work with. Very pleased.

Abysmal customer service, cant provide a timeline on when they will be out for fall cleanup. oh youre on a list, ok where am I on the list? Oh I dont have an answer for you there, ok would you like to look up my name? Still wont be able to give you any information used you guys for 3 years paid your absurd costs, enough you have lost another customer.

The best place

Truly a disaster of an experience and I would highly NOT recommend this company to anyone. I was given their information from the village of Mount Prospect as I have horrible flooding issues in my back yard. It happens to be common thing in the area and I was told to contact the best in the neighborhood to fix it. To make a long story short, $4,000 project later in creating a swale in the back of my yard to get the water to discharge properly and unfortunately the issue is still there. Here is some things you can expect from this company if you choose to hire them: - Incorrect start date, and continuous excuses as to why they are delayed - Poorly supervised work with many pieces of the job missing when they claimed they were completed. - Poor communication from everyone on staff, the excuse of this is our busy season is their favorite. - Horrible follow up to the job not being completed to your satisfaction and lack of ownership. - Rude and ignorant staff which do not know how to speak to their customers. - If the job isnt done well, dont expect any phone calls returned or anyone to help remedy the situation. - Incorrect verbiage used in their contract about a warranty on the work done considering they will not fix any of the issues. Attached are some pictures for your viewing. You will see the issue of the flooding still taking place to this day. Behind the shed near the gravel is supposed to be where the water is supposed to discharge at. In the final email back to me, you will see that his remedy of our flooded back yard is to clear the area of dog feces. In all the pictures of the area I took, including the last one I sent him there is not dog feces anywhere to be seen. Unfortunately they have left me no other options other than contacting a lawyer to resolve the issue. Just save yourself trouble and find someone else for any landscaping needs.

Friendly and efficient

I hired Tommy Pollina to construct a swale in my yard which was a recommendation directly from the city of Northfield. Several thousands of dollars later I still have standing water in my yard, the swale was never built properly. I must have mentioned this to thier guy, Joe, one hundred times, that water doesnt flow uphill, not the last time I had checked. Any fifth grader doing geometry could tell you that there was no slope. He refused to fix it at that time and when the city tried to make him build the swale to the suggested dimensions, he blatantly refused, citing that it would be bad for whoever had to mow the lawn...despite the fact that I told him I couldnt care less about who mows the lawn because that person was me! Laughable. When the city finally tried to force him to consider the suggested dimensions, he demanded more money. I said I would consider paying more because I just wanted to complete the job, correctly. He still didnt want to do it do it. So, instead, he suggested that the alterations the city was recommending would cost something like 1.5 times the amount of the ENTIRE original job. He gave me a figure so high he knew I would reject it. I eventually paid them the original amount to just go away. In no way shape or form can I recommend Tommy Pollina to anyone. In fact, I can definitely recommend you stay away, stay far away. If there was something less than one star, that would be my rating. Feel free to contact me if you want to see the estimates or the pictures of the standing water that has done nothing but made my yard worse. UPDATE: Oh and I see TP has responded now and its the same blah blah blah b.s., its like that guy that owes you fifty bucks but you just cut your losses because youre too sick of hearing his excuses. I wrote you off a long time ago, TP, dont you worry about it, were done doing business together.
