THINK TWICE AND VERIFY! I had Martin Lawnscapes do a project for me in Mt. Juliet. It was just a simple cleanout for an overgrown bed next to the house, followed by planting some lower maintenance trees and shrubs in the same area. In the bed, we had a very large Crepe Myrtle stump that needed to come out. I had already cut the tree down to ground-level but it was already starting to grow back. We needed this stump totally removed due to the Crepe Myrtle being too close to the house and very difficult to maintain when grown. When we first got the estimate, Martins agreed to dig out the stump or grind it down to nothing. However, upon seeing how close to the house it was, they backtracked a bit and we agreed that it would be ok to drill holes in the stump and use stump remover/root rot to keep it from growing back and eventually, the stump would rot out completely. Not ideal, but I understood where they were coming from. The project was “completed” and the bed area looked better. We forked over several thousand dollars for the work and we thought we were all good, until a couple of weeks later we see the Crepe Myrtle starting to grow again through the mulch that Martins applied. After some digging and raking, I found out that the stump was never drilled and was never treated with any kind of stump remover or root rot like we agreed. It was left as-is and covered up with mulch (see pic). This was a critical part of the project that was not done. I reached back out to Martins to get the work completed and traded texts on when they would be back out to finish the job and treat this stump. They never came. Eventually, I just gave up on them and did the work to treat the stump myself. Moral of the story: If you’re about to pay several thousand dollars to have work like this done, make sure you hire someone that will actually do what they say they are going to do. Also, learn from my mistake and verify all the work was completed even if you have to dig up the finished product to be absolutely sure.

I worked with Lee (owner) and he was fast, dependable, affordable and made our yard look AMAZING. He did a variety of hardscapes and landscaping. Highly recommend.
