Sava Tree does an outstanding job on my lawn and shrubs. They listen when i have concerns and answer all my questions. A supervisor will visit when i want to show him something and they always have a solution. The people who do the applications are excellent and if i have special request (such as to not spray an area because i spread new seed ), they are happy to follow these requests. We had a very large and damaged old Red Oak tree in our small backyard here in South Orange. Ryan was very responsive and sympathetic, as it was a tough decision for us to have the tree taken down. Ultimately, the tree could not be safely saved. His crew did an incredible job in an extremely tight space. Overhead wires, our garage and our neighbor s garage it was an involved removal. We appreciated the crew s efforts in protecting our yard they also did a great job cleaning up after the tree was down.

Juan and his team did a fantastic job of removing a massive tree on our property that we sadly could not save after it had been infested with the ash borer. They took great care to protect the various plantings in our garden and did a great job cleaning up afterward.

Fantastic company. Showed up on time, worked diligently even in this heat. Cleaned up better than before they came and were so polite. I cant say enough about the way they looked after the property. Wasnt easy to get to this tree, but they used equipment Ive never seen before to get to it and worked it expertly. I contacted SaveATree this spring to have 1 or 2 trees evaluated for pruning. Jody, the arborist, scheduled the appointment with me, he arrived on time and walked my property with me as we discussed several trees and shrubs. Jody did a complete evaluation of my trees and we agreed on appropriate work to be done and cost. The work was scheduled for several weeks later and Jody called to confirm time and date He worked with my neighbors to make sure they were aware of work being done and his crew finished in a couple hours. The work was done as agreed and his crew was very neat and cleaned up all traces of prunings and branches. Jody was very knowledgable and up-front about tree health and recommended work. I highly recommend Jody and SaveATrree if you value your trees.

Very happy we were able to secure our 100-foot Tulip with what I now know is a co-dominant stem instead of removing it from the property. Sav-a-tree came in and cabled the tree (and secured a much smaller tree that was leaning against a neighbors fence after a recent storm), and was done faster than I expected. Work I couldnt have done myself, so its great to know there are professionals nearby we can count on.

Id give less starts if I could. Scheduling SavATree in the first place was a pain. There was no immediate availability and I had to wait nearly 4 days for an arborist to provide an assessment. When Evan did show up, he committed to sending a proposal. After eight days of silence, I followed up and didnt receive a callback. When I called back saying that Id be moving forward with other quotes unless I heard back, Evan finally got back to me, only to say that he couldnt conduct the service or provide a competitive quote. Ryan applied a fruit tree spray to my cherry and apple trees and for the first time since I planted them 10 years ago, they have produced amazing amounts of delicious fruit. I had SavATree come by to evaluate a sad looking tree on our property. They recommended removal and even though the tree was very close to the house, they removed it quickly and without a problem. They went above and beyond in helping me navigate the tree remove permit process for my town, and even left behind some cut logs of the old tree at our request. The cedar logs smell great.

Not happy how they handled the scheduling of the tree service. They took the job, but never gave a service date. I had a long wait and I had to wait 3 months to have the branches be removed. Finally, they showed up while I was away. They charged me in thousands and did not cut the branches as I had explained and for what purpose. It did not seem like the service guy was listening other than hell bent on explaining the technicalities of what could and could not happen.

SavATree inspected which trees on property required removal since they were in bad shape, as well as which trees required removing dead branches. They did a nice job.

We have a weeping cherry which has been oozing more sap than normal. Staci gave us an assessment on the tree. She was very smart, funny, and informative. Then, we discussed my neighbor s huge oak tree (another client) and our dogwood which had too much mulch around the trunk Really grateful for her advice.

They charged me for a service that had not been completed and was not very communicative about finishing the job: First they couldn t perform the service because there was no street parking available (my doorbell camera said otherwise), then came, did front yard, and provided a note that they would return the following Monday to finish. No one came on Monday to finish but my credit card had been charged so I called the office. The office manger said that it was rescheduled for Wednesday as if I somehow should have known? I have been a customer for a few years and never had an issue but this was poor customer service - rude, lack of communication, no explanation, no apologies.

Four years ago, when we purchaed a 75 year-old house in the Sleepy Hollow historic district of Plainfield NJ, we knew we needed some expert help. We recently moved to the area (Short Hills) and have a little over an acre with numerous very large trees. We worked with Jody and our team to get a large dead Oak removed from our back yard, as well as essential trimming of other trees on our property. We came out of a year re-establishing our lawn and was concerned about the heavy equipment ruining the lawn. Jody worked with us to select an appropriate time in winter to perform the work to allow for the ground to freeze over to do minimum damage to the lawn. Because the schedule was flexible (waiting on the weather) we werent at home the day that his crew performed the work. Even so Jody kept us updated every step of the way. His crew left the property in immaculate condition - you could hardly notice they were there. My wife and I received a flyer in the mail from SavATree, and were actually doing research to find a company to provide pruning and treatment services at the time. We called to make an appointment and received a call back right away. We ultimately scheduled a walk-through with Stacie Phelps, whose assistant was extremely polite, and helpful in getting our appointment scheduled. During our initial walk-through, it was evident how knowledgeable and passionate Stacie is about her profession. She was extremely patient with us, and was willing to answer all of our questions (and we had a lot). She was not pushy at all, but rather offered great insights into what she felt was necessary (mainly from a safety perspective), and what could wait. The overall cost was reasonable and her customer service was impeccable. We immediately booked an appointment to have the services completed. On the day of service, the crew was punctual, respectful, clean and expeditious getting the work done. Stacie was present too, and conducted a pre-, and post- walk through with us to make sure nothing was missed. We would highly recommend SavATree - Mountainside, and in particular were extremely impressed with Stacie Phelps!

I wanted to get more light into my backyard, but keep as many trees up as possible. Two other companies told me it wasnt possible and that I had to remove 3-4 trees minimum. I called Sav-A-Tree per the suggestion of a friend and was very satisfied with their assessment and performance - my trees were pruned back, but not one was removed and now I have more light, but still have privacy in my backyard.

Jody and his team were great and very responsive to what I wanted. We discussed specifics of what would be trimmed and how it would be trimmed. The job was done well. Jody recommended a plan of action for my lawn and was flexible in trying to keep costs down.

I saved more than $1000 this year by not signing up the service, and I waited to make sure if this problem is from my lawn or this company. Last year by fall, half of my lawn was complete covered by weed and the other half was gone from grubs, every single time that I called and mentioned my concerns, the answer was dont worry this will be fixed after a year or two but at the end my lawn was completely stressed and damaged. This year I did a favor to my lawn and I took over the nutrition and weed control so far it looks way better than last year. I picked save a tree although the service was the highest proposed between the others in the area but I picked them to make sure I am working with professionals. Out every 10 emails I sent maybe I got one response back. and at end just after I kept telling them that my lawn has grubs, they just added handful of seeds. If I did not treat my lawn for grubs this spring again I would have an ugly lawn like last year.

I have interacted with dozens of companies throughout the renovation of our home and property these last few years. Most have been decent, some have been great, and others have been a nightmare. Last summer I had a terrible experience with a big landscaping outfit and was left feeling completely ripped off and misinformed. A large area of newly planted evergreens was looking worse each week-and all I would hear from the company that planted them was they are fine!. They were not fine..I knew it but I needed an expert opinion to diagnose the problem and present a plan of action. I looked around online and quickly was attracted to SavATree after reading all the 5 Star reviews. Stacie met with me the next day and quickly assessed the situation. She pointed out that the lower branches of the trees were buried under the mulch-which was suffocating the trees-slowly killing them by the day. She patiently explained how the trees should have been planted and how best to lower the grade of the mulch to save them. I was able to call a trusted landscaper who carried out her instructions the very next day. Stacie also recommended a Kelp treatment and proper watering schedule-and was able to get her crew out within days to give the trees the nutrients they so desperately needed. Within a few weeks-the trees made a full recovery from sad and dying to happy and thriving-and they are still looking great over a year later. This year I planted several more trees in my backyard and immediately called Stacie for her expert opinion. The tree farm was telling me I did not need to irrigate, my sprinkler guy was telling me to irrigate every day-who do I trust? That right there is the value of a true HONEST professional like Stacie. She is an encyclopedia of knowledge and she shares it with her clients in the most passionate, genuine, and trustworthy way imaginable. Most other professionals who are offering services to home owners will prioritize making the sale over all else-and it often ends up hurting everyone involved. Stacie takes a unique approach that simply works. She shares her knowledge and is completely honest in her assessments and suggestions. If something is good and does not need fixing-she will tell you to leave it alone. And when she sees something that is or could become a problem-she will inform you-not push you-into utilizing the services she suggests. Jody was very helpful through the process of removing a tree that was too close to our house foundation. The crew did a great job of removing the tree and stump and left the site looking clean. As luck would have it, a large tree was uprooted in my front yard. With no phone service I sent an email to SavATree asking for help but expecting not to hear back. To my delight, the team showed up the next day to take down the uprooted tree that was precariously leaving toward my home. I ve been a customer ever since. We called Jody to assess a tree that was recently hit by lightening. Jody confirmed it was indeed hit by lightening and probably hit twice. There was no way to save the tree. The tree would start to die but we might not see that for another 6 mos to a year. We decided to have the tree taken down sooner rather than later. The job wasnt an easy one, as there were wires on either side of the tree. Jody and his crew respected our property as well as our neighbors property. They worked efficiently and cleared the property of ALL debris. This is the second time we have used Jody and SaveATree. We are very pleased with them.

We hired SavATree in May 2019 to prune several pine oak trees that are close to 80 tall. During the previous winter and spring storms the trees had been shedding big branches. After the pruning, we have experienced several strong thunderstorms and high winds and not one branch has fallen off. The crew did an amazing job with the pruning and clean up after the job was over. They also kept us informed of their up close observations about the health of the trees. From the first call to the last recap email - Jody and his team were amazing!

Buyer Beware, I take absolutely no pleasure in writing a review like this but I am left with little recourse since this company has refused to contact me regarding their work. I hired Save A Tree to remove several trees around my property. They couldnt have done a more sloppy job and they destroyed half my lawn. Half the grass on my front lawn is dead, I have huge areas that are just piles of dirt from their equipment and I am going to have to replace half my lawn. Where they dragged the trees out from my back yard, the ground cover has been destroyed. Additionally, there were two trees that were supposed to be removed and they were left. One tree was to be trimmed and there are still many branches that are dangerously close to falling and clearly should have been removed. The ground cover around that tree has been trampled and destroyed. I have contacted them several times to no avail. I will have to resort to other means to be compensated for the damages to my property. As soon as I asked for a make good and sent in photos of the damage, I did not hear from them again. I will be reviewing on other sites, contacting the better business bureau and others to make certain anyone hiring this company is aware of my experience. Avoid this company. Hire them at your peril.
