John McEvoy Lawn Maintenance in Morganville

I am extremely disappointed with the services provided. We have a gated property with two dogs. I have informed the owner that they will need to let us know in advance ( day before was agreed upon) when they need to access the yard (as my fiance works from home and usually lets the dogs run around the yard while shes on calls). Owner forgot to tell us many times. His guys would show up and unlock our fence by prying the gate apart to fit their hands in and unlock it. This could seriously injure them or break our new fence. Once we left the gate open for them (because they told us ahead of time that they would come on that day)...and they LOCKED it behind them- locking us out in the process. Not to mention the multitude of brightly colored dog toys they ran over. (Again- had they gave us a heads up...we would have picked all of them up). Last straw, I was home sick and heard a mower. I thought it was our neighbor until I went outside to find my previously LOCKED gate WIDE OPEN....while one of their men were attempting to work on our lawn. AGAIN NO WARNING OR HEADS UP. Not to mention my two dogs were IN the yard! I was livid. I reached out to the owner who just said "I forgot to tell you". I discontinued service with their company due to his inability to respond professionally to my texts. The company never called back, NOW, my fiance tells me their lawncare guys just came to our property and let themselves in AGAIN to cut our lawn. I obviously told the owner I am done using their service. They have been told never to enter my property again. Save yourself the hassle and find a better company. This seems really unprofessionally run. I am livid....

I’m quite disappointed with the service provided by John McEvoy Lawn Maintenance. While they did a decent job on the front lawn—mowing, trimming, and edging—the back yard was left in a terrible state. There are grass clippings everywhere, large patches of the lawn were left completely untouched, and the overall quality was lacking. Additionally, when my fiancé requested that they trim the weeds along the fence line, they refused, claiming it required a trimmer. This was frustrating because they had used a trimmer on the front yard to get around the fire hydrant at the curb and around the perimeter of the house. Ultimately, they created more work than they alleviated as I cannot go over any portion of the lawn with my own mower because the amount of clippings left behind immediately clogs and stalls the lawn mower. So now I have to rake the debris from the entire yard before work can be done. Unfortunately, the issues with the back yard overshadowed any positive aspects of their work. I would not recommend this company based on our experience.

I have been using McEvoy for a few years now and they do a great job! Also, my yard looks beautiful after fall clean up; everything is spotless! Thank you!

I have been using John McEvoy Lawn Maintenance for many years, they are reliable and always do a great job.

I've used this company on and off in the past and I always have to stop them because they always dig up my lawn, no matter how much I complain about it. John the owner always responds quickly, but the least he could do when that happens is offer to compensate through the billing. You shouldn't have to constantly repair your lawn after hiring someone to cut.

They charged us $360 (including $40 to remove backyard debris which i was not aware of) for clean up and at first look, I thought they did a good job except for trimming the branches around the backyard door. They came a few days after and cut the branches. After taking a look at yard, they did not clean up half the branches or the weeds. The only good thing they did was cut up the old bushes. Their regular cuts are $33 which is similar to a lot of other places. Maybe hire them for cuts but definitely not for clean ups. Right after our second cut, I called and canceled the service. I just feel like the $40 for removal was not discussed in the beginning and after paying almost $400 for clean up, at least make sure you do a good job cleaning up.

Zero stars if I could. For the 2 months that I had the service I had to call and make sure that the crew was going to come to mow. Did this 3 times in a row. AND had to call multiple times to get a call back. The first time, John said I thought "you cancelled" , I didn't. The second time I called was told they would be there on Tuesday, They didn't show up,  called again and they finally came on Wednesday. The third time Was Monday June 1st called again, John made a big deal about me calling him on his personal line. I told him no one responded to me when I called on the business line. His crew didn't show until Tuesday close to 7pm. AND They damaged the gate to my fence. I received his bill today, that always seems to show up on time though... Also my father uses John McEvoy at his house. One time about 2 years ago his crew damaged the front glass storm door. Took John 2 months  to acknowledge and replace it. There are better lawn services out there that actually care about their customers, contact them instead.

We saw one of his workers drive the mower through our swing set at a very fast speed, catching the handle of the mower on one of the chains on the swing, cracking the overhead beam of the swing set. When we brought it to his attention, he shrugged his shoulders and rode off!!! We left a message for the owner, saying we were not looking for money, but felt he needed to see what his worker did!! He never, ever contacted us, and we now have another lawn service and we are most happy with the new service!! Gave McEvoy one star only because we had to give at least one, otherwise, would give him none!!!!
