Very happy with Z Trees. A couple of months ago, a huge tree branch came down in our backyard on a weekend. John came over that day for an estimate and then came back 2 days later to remove it. He came back about a month later to trim all the trees on my property and, just recently took down two trees that were dying and very unsafe. John even took the time to come back to my property to help raise a huge forsythia crushed by the fallen branch. His communication is great, pricing is fair.

We had the pleasure of working with John and his team on two occasions. We had 3 gigantic pine trees we wanted to remove. He came the same day to take a look and gave us a quote for the trees and the stumps removal. They came to cut the trees first thing in the morning on the appointed date and time. The communication was excellent. Removed them in less than 3 hours and left the place spotless. I needed them to come early next week to remove the stumps and they managed to rearrange their super busy schedule to come and do the work in the afternoon. Went out of their way to remove the stumps and all the roots. Grinding is a loud and messy job, but they had techniques to do it without the mess. It was honestly amazing to watch. Left the place spotless once again. We are very impressed with their work and will definitely use again and recommend to friends or anyone who asks for a tree removal service. I wish I took pictures! John and Mike removed a tree from my neighbors house after Hurricane Helene. They needed to use my yard to complete their job and they were amazing. These guys are professionals and treat property with extra care. They removed the tree from the house and you cant tell they were ever there (except everything looks so much better). When they left, they were headed towards Asheville to determine if there was any assistance they could donate to the cause. These folks are good people!

John & his team at Z Tree Experts just completed a tree removal and pruning job at my home. 4 large trees were removed, several of the stumps were grinded down, and 3-4 other large trees that were hazardous were pruned. John and his team were incredibly friendly, personable, and worked very well together. It was impressive to see their operation working smoothly and safely. Z Tree Experts were equipped with the RIGHT tools and machinery for the job, no corners were cut, and my property was delivered back to me cleaner than when they showed up! We recently had a tornado devastate our property. Dozens of 250 foot tall trees snapped in half and fell on our house, cars, decks, and property. I think John of Z Tree Experts was a savior, when he pulled up right after it happened and spoke to me while I was still in shock. He came the next morning with his crane and crew at 7AM. He lifted the trees up over our home, with the crane, off our cars, decks,and property, and even tarped our roof for us! They worked straight through and were finished by 6pm, right before the next rainstorm.I cant praise them enough. They work right with our insurance company. Everyone was so nice and professional. Theres still more cleanup and fixing to do, but at least the yard, house,decks and driveway are cleared and roof is tarped while we wait for insurance adjusters.I highly recommend this company to anyone in need. Keep their name somewhere youll remember for when you will need them!

Z Tree experts removed a huge dead tree in our backyard. They did a great job with a difficult task, avoided all of the power lines, and did not damage our backyard at all despite all of the necessary heavy duty, high tech equipment. We were so lucky John answered our call when an 80ft tree fell on our home. John and team showed up within the hour and spent all night making sure there was no trace of tree left. During a recent storm with heavy rain and strong winds, our 80 ft. Douglas Fir fell in the front yard just missing the house. We contacted Z Tree Experts and immediately got a call back. They came out that night, assessed the situation and took our information to begin working with insurance. I had a 30 foot tree in my yard that was starting to uproot because of a recent storm, as well as 2 other huge trees. I called Z Tree Service and 3 other tree companies. After receiving 4 estimates I decided to go with Z Tree Service. Their price was comparable with the others but they had so many good reviews I decided to go with them and Im so happy I did. I wanted to make sure I added my review of John Zelenka and his crew at Z Tree Experts before too much time had elapsed! I purchased a little cabin in West Milford a couple of years ago and I really love it and cozy 1/2 acre of property that its situated on. The only real drawback were these two rather large 60+ feet tall and looming dead ash trees which filled me w/ dread every time really wet and windy weather was predicted! So after some comparison shopping I widdled down the choice of which tree removal service I used, to Z Tree experts and one other. They were both around the same price, but John actually managed to get to my house the same afternoon I called and complete a friendly and informative walk-through at the same time. Like I had indicated, I was beginning to have regular anxiety every time inclement weather was forecast as I could now visualize this huge, rotten, dead tree toppling over and completely crushing my little cabin in one fell swope!!! Anyway, on the day of the job John and his crew arrived around 8 am and he immediately set to work trimming the branched and almost immediately placing them in one of his trucks to be instantly removed! John and his crew also took great care at the same time in protecting the lawn while removing the tree as well as protecting the outside of the cabin from flying debris while grinding the stump into dust. When he wasnt cutting and trimming, John and his crew were cleaning, raking and clearing the property as well! If you didnt know it, you wouldnt even realize that two huge trees had just been removed along w/ any obvious traces that they had been there at all!!! I would recommend John and his company without hesitation to anyone needing some serious tree removal service!!!

John and his partner guided us through every step of trimming a heavily overgrown oak tree, arranged for his equipment to be brought in to a business behind our property, trimmed and removed several dead branches and crossing branches and fully cleaned up the area. They also removed 7 arborvitae trees and a rotted stockade fence from the back of the property. They returned to remove the arborvitae roots and leveled the yard in preparation to install a new fence. Their work was exceptional. The work was done efficiently, professionally and with great care. This crew totally crushed trimming our large pine tree! They covered ourselves shed with plywood and carefully placed all the debris around it. I decided to give up on the bamboo experience and cut it all myself. That left me with a driveway full of cut bamboo (a long driveway) so I needed it chipped out of here. Sent John a message via website and he called me within a half an hour. Came by 15 minutes later for an estimate. Although it was a lot, it was still only about an hours worth of work. Quoted me a very reasonable price and an hour later all my bamboo was gone and my driveway was pristine clean. 2 hours tops from first contact to job complete. I know thats not the norm and the stars just aligned perfectly but I do have to say that he was responsive, professional and reasonably priced. I called John on a Sunday for a tree fall emergency. He called me back from the beach with his family and sent his brother over that day to inspect the situation. Both of them came back the next day with a great crew, worked all day to remove the fallen debris on our house and take down a few other problematic trees. John even went onto the roof as a thunder storm started, with heavy rain, and patched the holes on our roof with tarps to keep water out. A tree fell on our property two days before Xmas and right before a winter storm was expected to hit. John and his crew were able to remove the tree within hours and did a great job, hauling debris away and all. They even re-attached a gutter damaged by the tree. Highly recommend.

The day prior to the project, they knocked on our door and warned us what was going to happen and let us know where we should park, so that our cars don t get damaged. They did a great job in taking the trees down without anything falling on our side of the street. If we ever need our trees taken down, we will absolutely be using their services! Z Tree is the best!

These guys are wonderful. John the owner/operator explained everything thoroughly and came out to my property twice before the removal. He was easy to deal with and professional. When it came to the work, it was on point. They removed a lot of trees and debris, and you wouldnt even know they were here. We had multiple large trees in a difficult location that needed to be removed and he had the right equipment and skills to safely get it done. I independently had another tree expert who confirmed what Z Tree recommended be removed was necessary. While on site John identified another large tree (100+ feet) that posed a risk to our house and he recommended we remove that as well. While not in the original plan we are glad we ultimately listened to him as the tree was rotten throughout the inside. These guys are amazing! John came out on an emergency call this past Saturday. Our beautiful but OLD oak tree that shaded our entire backyard as well as reached over 4 neighbors backyards decided to split in half as a result of the recent windy days we had. Extremely Happy with the service John and Kyle delivered at my home in Clifton. I had a cluster of very tall mulberry trees and a row of razor sharp sticker bushes removed. Z Tree and their crane saved me during this last storm. He worked with Arbor Ace to get my emergency tree removal done before the storm hit again with wind, hail, and rain. I had a tree thar was ready to cave down and would have done so much more damage than was already done. Z tree and crew worked HOURS in the pouring rain to make sure that the trees that could destroy my home were removed safely. They went above and beyond, and even introduced and talked to all my surrounding neighbors and next door neighbor to make sure everyone was safe and property was safe. He had a huge crane to fit into my small property and carefully covered my driveway to make sure it was not damaged. John runs an excellent business. Hes personable, professional, and efficient. We first used Z Tree Experts during a storm when a tree fell in our driveway and landed up against our home. Every time weve called Z Tree, weve gotten an answer right away and prompt service. After our second emergency incident, in which a tree limb came down and snapped the power line clean off our home, we knew it was time to do a more comprehensive treatment to our property. Wed had an estimate done when we bought the house a year ago by a different arborist service, and Johns estimate wasnt very different. These guys were fantastic. This was the best service we have received in a long time. For something as important as removing two very large (and dangerous) trees, we cared most about quality and execution. They were quick to get on the job, timely (finished as promised), and incredibly neat. You can t even tell they spent two days on our property they cleaned up that well. Last summer we had a microburst come thru and take down three huge oak trees and Z Tree came and saved the day! Fitting his remote controlled crane past my house into the driveway was a very tough job, and he did so without damaging a thing. Can t say enough good things about Z Tree. They removed 4 trees and did a substantial amount of branch cutting/trimming over the course of 2 days. Any normal human would have done this over the course of 3 days and quit at 5pm, but they worked hard, stayed late, and not only got the job done, but got the job done in a way that significantly exceeded my expectations. They left my yard and my neighbor s yard spotless such that even my neighbors commented that they were impressed. If you re taking down a tree, I highly recommend stump grinding. Called Z Tree Experts to take down a long big hanging tree leaning on the side of a double detached garage about to fall on the roof and was held by another branch plus trimming some other big trees over a semi long driveway in Nutley. John, the owner with his assistant miraculously saved the garage, trimmed all other trees as if it was his own house and thoroughly cleaned the entire area. Because of their good work my both sides neighbors hired them to do some work for them.

I could not have asked for better service and precision from a tree removal company. After a wicked storm hit, a large branch from an old tree crashed onto my roof. I immediately called ZTree Experts and they showed up to assess the damage within 2 hours of the storm passing. NJ was hit pretty horribly, and yet the team still made there way to remove the branch within the week. They came back the following week to remove the entire tree, which was far back on the property behind 2 other large trees. The precision which the ZTree team worked was incredible. They were able to efficiently and effectively remove an entire giant tree, and weave it through the spaces between other trees and houses. There was no damage to ANYTHING - including the lawn, which they kindly protected by placing wood boards along a path so the giant tree-removing truck could travel the law without causing damage. Their services are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. And in this case, I paid for excellent, efficient, precise work - and they even cleaned up after themselves! ZTree is worth every penny! These guys are incredible - friendly, take pride in their work, experts at what they do and the ultimate pros. About a month ago I had a huge tree fall in my side yard and onto the sidewalk late at night. Googled and found John. Called him expecting to schedule for next day - he came within 30 minutes to assess the damage and had his army of professionals at my house within the hour. John reassured me that they had everything covered so that I could take care of assessing the other damage. They methodically removed everything (it was a lot) and went above and beyond - got on my roof to remove debris and even pointed out where I should show the insurance company for the repairs. The cleaned up after themselves incredibly and my yard looked better than it did before. It was night time and raining and none of that deterred them. Within a few hours they were done. Z Tree Experts did a great job removing an extremely old and tall tree (which was rotting inside). They did the job promptly and left the area completely well manicured. Most amazing was that you could not even tell a tree had been there. My eighty year old mother s backyard was like a jungle, and she also had a dead tree that needed to come down. I called Z Tree Experts solely based on their good reviews. John came for the consultation, he was extremely friendly, and his quote was surprisingly fair. Last year we had a tree fall down during a storm. It was removed by a different company. The job was done while we weren t home, even though I asked them to let me know when they were coming. They were very expensive, the job was poorly done, and to add insult to injury, they left the yard a mess. So I was dreading having to deal with another tree company. I shouldn t have worried. Z Trees came when they said they were going to come. They did what they said they were going to do. No, did MORE than they said they were going to do. I recently bought a home and been having to deal with endless service and repair people, mostly minor issues and things here and there. But Ive spoken to and dealt with probably 2 to 3 dozen guys in the last 2 months. Joe from Z Tree Service was the most genuine, honest person I think I have ever dealt with not just since i bought my new home but since I can remember. I called Z Tree Service and literally 6 to 8 other tree removal companies. I had a downed tree hanging from the secondary PSE&G line. PSE&G has been saying they would take care of it but a rep today told me they wouldnt. So I called probably every tree removal service in NJ that was open. Joe from Z Tree was the ONLY person who said, hey, let me call forest contractor (Kieran) for PSE&G cause hes a friend of mine. He would know about this because they should be taking care of this. What do you know, he gets Kieran on the phone and Kieran confirms its still on their list of things to do. Exactly the opposite of what the PSE&G rep told me. Joe, if youre reading this. I want to tell you that youre a good person. I cant relay to anyone reading how genuine he is. A breath of fresh air. Look dont take my word for it, if you have questions and are shopping around, you have to call these guys.

Great crew who did an amazing job removing all the downed & damaged trees from my property: (10) 40 evergreens and (40) 15 arborvitae cut down, destumped and removed in 1 day! They also did an incredible job at backfilling the stump holes and cleaning the remaining debris. They left my yard in better condition that it was before the trees fell down. Unfortunately the snow in March severely damaged the largest tree on our property. Reviews do matter as weve never used Z but picked them based on Google reviews. We couldnt have been happier! The yard is difficult to get to so they actually went over the house, removed the tree and grounded down the stump. We were not at home but when returned its as if the tree...and they...were never there. I hear my neighbors were so impressed they offered them Florida oranges upon their return from Florida. I cannot recommend them enough!

I contacted Z Tree Experts after reaching out to numerous companies for quotes for a standard tree removal in my backyard. It quickly became obvious that they weren t called Z Tree Experts for no reason. After meeting with John, he offered me a professional opinion to move in a direction with tree removal that I hadn t even considered, and ideally would save me money in the long run. I initially only planned on removing one tree but John educated me about the health of a 2nd tree in my yard that would have to be removed in the near future. Amazing service! John came out to our home on a Sunday afternoon after my husband and I discovered a large portion of a tree had fallen onto our roof and shed. With thunderstorms in the forecast for most of the week John and his team were there the very next morning to beat the weather. Knowing we had just moved in he gave us a very fair price, much better than other quotes. He saved our garage and made very much appreciated suggestions on how to preserve our favorite tree.

John and his crew do great work and are a pleasure to work with. On July 18th at 6:30pm a very large oak tree branch, with many attached branches, fell on the roof of our 3 family property and John was the only person who picked up the phone the first time reaching out to him. He and Kyle, a member of his team, were literally at the gas station fueling up to head out of town, but they agreed to meet me at the property to evaluate the situation and determine the urgency. The situation was urgent and John and Kyle stayed with us at our property that evening for almost 2 hours until he found a crane operator that would come the following morning at sunrise to work with him to remove the limb. Needless to say he cancelled his plans to go out of town until after the job was done. He, Kyle, Pat and the crane operator were at the house at 5:30/6:00am and worked all morning to safely remove the huge limb and attached branches from off, and out of, the roof. It had to be taken down in pieces and John successfully removed it without creating any further damage to the roof/house. The guys chipped up all the branches and cleaned up the property to where you couldnt tell anything had happened at all. John, Kyle and Pat were great to work with and all have good attitudes and are polite with good work ethics. John is definitely customer service focused, returned my calls and texts (even on weekend while out of tow) very promptly. When I got upset because the roofers didnt get over to put on the tarp after two days of this happening and rain was expected, John told us he would come back with his bucket truck and get on the roof to put a tarp on it. I let him know the roofers were coming so he didnt need to make the trip but he still came by the house to check in on us and make sure it was taken care of.

John. Was the only guy who was up for the challenge of removing a monstrous cherry stump off a 4 wall. I was in a pinch and he was able to make it there the same day. They spread everything out nicely and left the area presentable. I have no complaints with his service. Thanks again John !!!

f you have a tree issue, CALL THESE FOLKS!!! John and his crew are amazing: extremely efficient, highly professional, amazingly courteous, and totally committed to the job. John himself is like some sort of timberland Superhero. The guy answers the phone, comes early, stays late, supervises all aspects of the job personally, and is a genius at problem solving. He and his crew make your problem their problem, and they dont rest until the problem is solved. Trust me, Z Tree Experts is in a league of its own. We just dealt with what could have been a nightmare situation with a tree falling in our backyard (100 year old tree, no access for the crane, torrential rain, etc.), but John and his guys vowed to get in there and make things right, and somehow they did. Johns as competent as he is nice, which is saying something. Dont waste your time with any other tree service. For price, quality, and commitment, they are in a league of their own!

He asked permission before using a neighbors driveway to haul out some trimmed branches. John was on site, working with his crew. (After all, he is the one who is certified.) The removal of the ground stumps was included in his quote and wasnt just another add on that other tree services may charge. Finally, John and his crew were meticulous in the post job cleanup. Hired them to remove multiple trees from my front yard. He came out the next day to give an estimate, which I thought was fair. He also offered to, for free, clear out the gutters and perform other small tasks around the house. He came the following day after giving the quote to remove the trees at the time he said he would, and finished quickly in 2 hours. A tree came down during a wind storm, I called z tree experts and was told they would be at my house in 20 minutes and 20minutes later John was there. He worked on cutting the tree so I would be able to get out. Answered all my questions and was very nice about. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

A++ job! John came to my house at 930 pm when I called him bc a huge tree came down in my driveway. He started work first thing the next morning, and also cleaned up the tree damage at my neighbors and in the street. Pseg was also there bc we lost power and there was contamination from the transformer oil, and the town of Montclair was also involved. It was so complicated but he and his team handled everything so professionally and efficiently and did a tremendous job under pressure. I recommend him super highly.

I called Z Tree Experts at @ 2PM this afternoon for an estimate. John told me he would try to come this afternoon to give me an estimate. Unfortunately for John, a contractor who had already given me an estimate that id accepted showed up unexpectedly ( its a long story, but I was fully not expecting this other contractor to show up as hed broken 3 appointments already and I told him if he couldnt get here today, not to show up at all. He said hed call me, which he didnt so I was not expecting him to come, and I sent out for other estimates). At any rate the stump was ground out before John got here. I failed to call John to tell that the job was done. Even so, he was very polite and professional about it, and he did what he said he would do by showing up when he said he would (a fully unexpected happening , given my experience of having to get estimates over the past 3 weeks)Given Johns equable and professional demeanor, I wouldnt hesitate to call him for future work.

I had a giant ancient Maple that was getting out of hand. Branches without purpose, some rotting which I, as a layman, couldnt see. I called Z Tree Expercts because I saw them take down a difficult tree a few doors down from me. John did a great job sculpting the overgrown tree. We had John and his team out about a month ago and did a fantastic job. We had a very large tree taken down in our front yard, numerous trees trimmed on the side and another tree in the back yard taken down. When John came out for an estimate I was surprised when he peeled a little bark off a tree and showed me where it was split and not one solid trunk inside. With previous estimates I had, no one had taken the time to go over such detail. Since we wanted the front tree to have stump grinding he also touched up one we had from a prior service that we were not happy with. With all of the annoying town rules he did not hesitate to apply for the permit for us and called for the gas lines to be marked. While working they always had plywood down as to not damage my grass and cleaned up at the end of each day. At the end the yard looked great and was ready for grass seed. The team he works with does the job with detail as you would expect at a fair price.

John Zelenka, the owner of Z Tree Experts and his partner showed big hearts, compassion and professionalism in helping us retrieve our escaped parrot Squash on 10/22/16 in Glen Ridge, NJ. Very soon after my wife called, John brought his truck with cherry picker and attempted to reach the bird at a height of some 35 feet in a tree. The bird flew away, but John and his partner came back later that night with strong light trying to locate it high in the trees. Unfortunately due to worsening conditions, the bird couldnt be found. John and his partner helped us a lot in this hard time especially for my son and my wife. We are really grateful for that. I contacted Z Tree Experts to evaluate a Japanese Maple on my property that had extensive dead branches on it. Although, I had hoped to save the tree, John advised me that it was near the end of life span and it was best and more economical to remove it. So, we negotiated a very attractive price to have the work done and Z Tree Experts completed the job to my satisfaction. From the quoting stage to the finished project John and his team were punctual with appointments and were courteous, professional and respectful of my property. As well, they have the proper equipment to do the job and in the end all debre was removed to my satisfaction. It was a completely hand-off situation for me including securing a city permit for the tree removal. These guys are great. They showed up on short notice and are super pro! Very efficient - and impressively tidy - taking great care to make sure everything is clean. They even stacked the rounds so I can split firewood out of our newly felled oak. The expedient service allowed me to get my out building started before winter sets in. Thanks to Z Tree!
