Custom Landscaping & Lawn Care in Monroe Township

The first year of service was great, but unfortunately, the second and final year turned into a nightmare. We hire services like this to ease the burden of our busy lives, but instead of peace of mind, we encountered a series of issues. Despite being on auto-pay and seeing charges on my card, it became apparent that no actual service was being provided. Reviewing our security footage, it was startling to discover that our property was frequently going unserviced. In addition, our small pickup truck, used for errands, was hit while parked in front of our home. We found through our cameras that the companys tanker hit our truck while arriving and immediately departing, without notifying us or the company. To my disappointment, when I brought this to their attention, the resolution offered was inadequate a free leaf clean-up after repairing the truck myself. The service seemed inconsistent across different crews, evident in the way our yard was cared for. While one crew did an excellent and respectful job, the other showed little regard, resulting in cutting our garden hose in two, blowing yard clippings into our pond or just destroying whatever was in the way. If youre reading this, I urge you to consider finding another service provider.

Terrible service, and people disrespect you over the phone, and they dont show up for the scheduled appointment. Dont waste your time with them.

Terrible. They got bought out the service became bad. They usually come do whatever they want (and more important dont want) and like to blame it on liability - give me a break. Cant mow here, wont mow there. Never a boss to talk to and never anyone to get a hold of. Office has zero clue on what they are doing. I would NEVER use these people again. They are disorganized and do not communicate whatsoever.

This is a good company. However, if you have any issues. DO NOT deal with Saul Garcia. He is the WORST when it comes to customer service. He would string you along for months and tell you what you wanna hear but would not fulfill the promises. Ask to speak with someone else other than Saul Garcia. Saul should run for politics in order to make promises he cant keep.

I have now hired and fired this business twice in the past couple years. In both cases I identified (and even observed!) damage to my property due to careless work. I will not hire them again. To their credit, they reliably show up, the price is ~reasonable for a landscaper of this size.

Always come late and rush through. This season my grass is two feet high and every day they are coming tomorrow . Joke of a company

They are not detail-oriented. They damaged a newly installed vinyl fence, came to replace the panels using my spare panels I had laying in the yard without my permission. I took that as an insult, honestly. That they couldn t replace them with new ones purchased by them? Smh.

Do not use this company! I heard good things about them and admired a neighbors recent work done by them. Well, the sales guy made all sorts of promises regarding the quality and professionalism of landscaping installation. Then, you never hear from him again (after he collects his commission). They covered/blocked 4 sprinkler heads, failed to install the bushes I asked for, and then harassed me repeatedly for payment. I had 1 bush be replaced immediately, bc it wasnt what I asked for. Then, three bushes started dying after less than 2 weeks --- bc they couldnt be watered properly (due to Custom covering/blocking my sprinkler heads). They couldnt come for several days to free the sprinkler heads, but they kept calling for payment. Finally, when I mentioned that several brand new bushes are dying...they referred me to the agreement, I signed which stated it was my responsibility to flag sprinkler heads, and my responsibility to hand-water. Instead of standing by their work and making sure I was satisfied, they hide behind generic contract language that gives them a loophole. What a terrible way to do business. Please dont waste your money.

Be careful with custom landscaping, they are over priced and never complete the work. They charged us $2,000 for a spring cleanup and never finished. Been calling they ever since and never get a return call. They sent two people for 2 hours and said they would be back tomorrow and never showed up. Its 3 months later and Im still waiting. Still in the process of fighting this with my credit card company. Never been more upset with a lawn service company in my life. Think twice before you sign a contract with them.

There was one side of the grass (edging) that was not being cut. The weeds were growing and growing. After providing pictures and leaving messages, no one called me back. Had to cancel as it was so stressful to try to get a hold of someone so they can just cut the edging, so the weeds wont continue to grow. Basically, not completing the work.

So i decided to get service with this company and their partner company Healthy Lawn. I needed them for mowing services and fertilization. I accepted the estimate and they said someone will reach out to set up a time and date when they were going to come. I was ok with that. They randomly show up without notice and woke me and my newborn up and damaged the lawn as it rained for the last 2 days straight. Its mind-boggling how a company would operate like this. I cancelled all my services with them and I reccomend you dont use them!

For the very first visit, there was a miscommunication of the start date. On that day I called to say my lawn wasnt cut. It was getting a little high at that point and waiting until the next week wasnt really an option. I explained all that and they sent someone right away. The guys, Im sure, were on overtime that day but they came and my lawn looked great.

Tired of using smaller landscapers who are so over booked and never knew what day they would get here. I have used custom landscaping for the past three years for lawn mowing primarily. They are prompt and always notify me if due to weather conditions they are delayed. I have also consulted them on tree removal and replacement as well as spring and fall cleanup, pruning, and mulching. They are knowledgeable and very professional. I highly recommend their service.

I had sod put in and they did a terrible job. They did not remove enough rocks to grade properly. Something with a spot that had sand from pse&g putting in gas pipes. It just looked bad. And the people doing the job didn t want to do anything we ask till they talk to nick who does not answer the phone. Will never hire them again.

This past season we completed a complex residential landscape project which was constructed by Custom Landscaping. They executed this timeless outside the box design solution designed by our firm (Princeton Design Collaborative) to solve a code requirement in an imaginative way that accentuated the properties attributes. This project involved many skill sets, from pools, hardscaping, retaining walls. Grading, lighting and of course plantings. The project also included a design/build rainwater catchment and irrigation system by Custom as a sustainable measure for watering the landscape. Custom brought in their own in-house team plus outside subcontractors to execute the design and were a true collaborative partner in bringing our vision to reality for the client s enjoyment for years to come. We look forward to Collaborating on future projects with Custom Landscaping and highly recommend them for your upcoming Landscape project to create your own private Oasis.

I was told wednesday they were coming to mow my lawn. they never showed. then when i spoke to several people they told me they would be out that day and if not tomorrow for sure. next day no one came either. same old song and dance. on friday 3 days later i find out i need to be authorized for a double mow. which no one i spoke to told me the last two days. i authorize the double mow and they said okay thanks we will be out today. yet again that was a lie and when i called. they said i was high priority and the will be there. now it s saturday day 4. my lawn is out of hand no one has showed and every time i call they just pawn it off to someone who insist they called the manager and will call me back and never do !

Custom landscape is a good company and have good prices too. They leave me emails and details on how to make my lawn better. If they aren t goin to make it on a certain day they follow up with me to let me know what day in the week they will come. Only thing I didn t like was the extra fee for gas when gas prices went up.

I couldn t recommend this company enough! The crew that serviced my lawn was very professional and hardworking. They would sometime arrive prior to 8am but knew I had small children and a newborn so never started before 8 or when they saw my door open! If asked they would always do a little extra weed whacking. When my grass didn t need to be cut it was no issue canceling or the crew would even advise skipping the week. I have a ton of toys in my yard and they always moved and than put back anything needed! Again I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The workers were very professional. Whenever they came they would cut and trim the grass and even off around the edges to make it look uniform and neat. Our lawn took on a manicured look each time they came around which is very much appreciated.

Custom Landscaping does not mow my lawn when it is too wet avoiding turf damage. They take the time to remove any objects accidently left on the lawn to avoid breaking the. They are very predictable -- showing up at the same time every week.

Custom does a very professional job. When I wanted my lawn cut a little lower they immediately followed my instructions and continued through out the year. When we hit the drought this year, they only cut the grass when needed and did not try to take advantage of us.

I have used Custom for about 7 years now. First only for lawn mowing but I eventually expanded to use multiple services - lawn mowing, fertilizing, sprinkler closing, mosquito control. Any service issues have typically been dealt with quickly and to my satisfaction. Overall, I think they have done a good job and I plan to continue using them. I would definitely recommend.

So far no complaints, the management, the crew, all very courteous and responsive, The crew is always on time, they listen to what you have to say. Management is professional and ready to work with you. Communication is clear and precise. I m glad to be using their professional services for the 2nd year in a row.

Custom is an excellent all around lawn and landscaping company they have done numerous jobs on our property from using in a lamppost, to replacing and finding the type of mulch we were looking for for our shrubs trees and landscaping, to trimming installing landscaping lights , shrubs, flowers, they are reliable, friendly. attentive to our requests, and offered suggestions with turned out to be exactly what we wanted, they even did a one time lawn cutting for us even though we were not on their regular seasonal program for that. Nick who comes out to give landscaping and other estimates is great at providing ideas and giving us a perfect end result each and every time. Great company, great customer service. I have been using their service for a few years. They are very good with communication and responsive. If here is ever an issue due to inclement weather or otherwise, they let me know quickly. The operation is very smooth, they come in and do the work, I get billed, I never have to think about it - just what I wanted! When gas prices were high, they added a fuel surcharge - which is understandable - and when the prices came back down, to my surprise, they removed the surcharge. They could have kept it on like so many other businesses have, but they re honest and honorable. I like that. If I need more than the routine maintenance from them, I know they re just a call or email away. Two thumbs up.

New customer after moving to the area in 2022. Their customer service is fairly responsive. I did prefer every other week but they said that wasn t an option for new customers which I found annoying since my neighbor is on that schedule.

Custom Landscaping customer service has always been responsive and very professional in handling any kind of question or concern. Ive had a few experiences with other landscaping companies with less than stellar results. Custom Landscaping has fair pricing and impeccable work, the job is done cleanly and explained to the customer on what needs to be done or if there is a complication. The contractors do the work seamlessly and also respect that most of the homeowners also work from home - A+++ in my book.

Without notifying us they changed our bi-weekly service to weekly. When we became aware they had switched, charging us for services we did not ask for or want, they did not offer a refund. We cancelled service, but they continued to try to show up and do work. Horrible company.

This place went down hill. They seem to have split the business into two parts (healthy lawns for fertilizer, weed control, etc and custom landscaping for the mowing part). Its completely disorganized now and their service went down the drain. I had a great looking lawn that diminished over these past couple seasons. I had to stop my service with them and find other options.

My lawn looked great all season, and when I asked if the height of the cut could be adjusted they were very responsive and made sure it was better. Looking forward to continuing next season.

They used to be good. Now they are way over priced and do not follow directions.

I have been using Custom for many years now. I really enjoy the way they cut my grass, it s not too short which allows the grass to tolerate the hot summers. They are extremely punctual as they come approx the same time each week, and there is always someone available in the office if you have questions. I recommend them to anyone that asks me for a landscaper.

First lawn service we found that could bill correctly, on time and only for services provided. We sometimes had our truck and bass boat in the way accidentally but they moved around them without scratching anything and still getting all the lawn work done. Never a mess left on the sidewalks. There are so many landscaping companies out there to choose from during the lawn maintenance season, and honestly, we had been using another company that decided to go out of business with NO heads up and just days before our lawn would have been SO overgrown back in very early spring 2021. Not to be repetitive, but What bugged me was No advance notice was given at all that he(the owner) decided to close up shop. So, we actually saw other people using them in the area, and they returned to Custom. We had stopped for a few years using any company because of financial issues, and yes, we should have just gone back to them when we were able to get a company to help me. I had to stop doing extreme yard work due to a heart condition and working with Wade when we were panicking to find a new place was an absolute joy. He is thorough, helpful and fair. Their prices are competitive. And they are %100 better with communicating with us. The previous company would never answer the phone or reply to texting or emails. We re considering using Custom to help get rid of some extra weeds on the side and in back of of our house. I recommend them if you re not sure who to use !
