We purchased a home in winter only to find a mud filled backyard come spring. We had uneven grading which resulted in an overactive sump pump. Dean and his crew regraded, installed irrigation system, new fence, mulch and sod. The project finished just before the first snow Fall 2019. When the project started, they were timely and professional. We are so excited to finally be able to use our beautiful new backyard this summer!

I entered into a contract with Dean Bjorkstrand to build steps on my patio to my slider door. Throughout the whole process Dean was readily available to answer any questions that I had and to make professional recommendations as to stone size and colors. His work was outstanding and it was great to deal directly with the owner rather than a representative. Service was provided on time and to the specs we both agreed too. We had Deans crew build us a paver patio and dog run in an area of the house that had water issues into the foundation. They dug everything out, patched up the foundation, and then build the dog run. Quality was very good and everything was done on time.

We have had a few projects completed by Dean and his team and they did a great job on both. When we started, we had water in our basement and our landscaping looked terrible. Now we have no water and our landscaping looks great! Dean gave us several options on both projects, which made the process much easier. There are no extra costs or expenses beyond what he says it will be. We will be using Dean and his team again!

We worked with Dean and his crew to design and install a beautiful brick paver walkway, a stone staircase, and beautiful stone retaining walls. They improved our drainage too. Dean has been wonderful. His team does amazing work, and we love our oasis that has been created. You dont see many owners willing to come out multiple times, or change plans multiple times for their clients with a positive attitude and willing to do it, to make things as perfect as we wanted them. If we have had a question, he has been a phone call, or quick email reply away. Dean also went above and beyond for our backyard so we could get the most out of it. Our yard backs up to a nature preserveand we told Dean we would reach out to the city and get some information for him, and before we even picked up the phone, he had been in contact with the city multiple times. 11/10 customer service. Came back from a trip to California thinking we needed a fire pit in our backyard. Solicited bids from three companies and chose Dean because he had great examples of similar work hed done, a competitive bid and because he took the time to listen to our ideas about what we wanted in the fire pit but also in the yard overall. We ended up with a bigger project than we originally contemplated, but one that really enhances our enjoyment of our yard. Perhaps the best testament I can give for the work Dean and his team did for us is this: last night, my family sat around the fire pit for six hours, just talking and hanging out. Were very happy and highly recommend Dean for any sort of outdoor landscaping and construction.

Dean and crew were absolutely fantastic to work with. Id HIGHLY recommend them. We landscaped our entire yard. Stone patio and pathways, raised vegetable garden, 5 trees, and 100+ shrubs/perennials. Dean came up with a great plan full of just about every possibility. We scaled it back a bit, but never felt like there was any pressure to upsell us on anything. Communication was stellar. When we had questions or wanted to make changes, Dean was incredibly responsive. We usually heard back the same day. Installation actually happened a couple weeks earlier than anticipated (since when are contractors every early!). His guys were very respectful and did a great job. We made a few last-minute changes in the midst of install. There was no groaning or pushback; it just got done. It looks great, and we cant wait to see to see it grow over the next few years!

As others have reported, Dean Bjorkstrand charges a $125 consultation fee. We didnt really have an issue with this as it is credited toward the final cost if the quote is accepted... Problem is, his estimate to have half an average front yard resodded and the other half reseeded was a cool $6,500. Another service will resod the entire yard for $2200. He might do beautiful work, but his prices are outrageous and the $125 fee for a mere 20mn consultation seems borderline unethical when he very well knows many people will not sign the dotted line.

One of the best experiences I have had with a contractor / service provider of any kind. The project was done ahead of schedule and the quality of the project exceeded our expectations. Not only that, there were no additional / hidden costs and the crew was super nice to work with. Awesome! I cant wait to be in a position to have Dean back for additional projects.

A little late writing this, we had several bidders for landscape work at our home, and we really liked Dean and his ideas best. Very responsive and on time with his proposals and pricing, gave us a full breakdown of every wish list item we had and the cost of each, and then we worked together to find the best combination of ideas to fit our budget: removal of existing landscaping, installation of new mulch beds, stepping stone walking path, plants, trees, and resodding and new grass seeding. Deans crew was great, very professional, and accommodating to our on-the-fly modifications, and everything was cleaned up at the end of each work day, Im sure the neighbors appreciated! Everything was completed on time and on budget, and a year later, all but one plant survived and everything is thriving! Our yard is transformed from an eyesore to a beautiful and colorful landscape. Recommend Dean for his friendliness and professionalism, and every time Ive called him with a question or concern, there he is stopping by and checking in same day. Reliability and honesty are very important to me, and Dean checks all the boxes.

Dean and his crew just completed a water mitigation/landscaping project for my front yard that included regrading, installing drain tile, new paver walkways and stone retaining/border walls, and Im very happy with the results. Mr. Bjorkstrand and his awesome crew installed a pondless waterfall, a couple of large raised beds this past summer. I absolutely LOVE it all! Prior to this they tiered our hill and removed a limestone wall and installed railroad timbers with seating around out huge oak tree. Great people. Would not hesitate to hire them. Next summer, I will hire him for another raised bed.

He was prompt in returning my call, clear about pricing, and most importantly, he was willing to get to my project in a timely manner. Dean has been very skillful in designing and laying out a unique driveway and sidewalk option for us using permeable techniques which will help us try and stay green. His design was approved for a grant from the Minnehaha Watershed District for us and should go a long way in helping finance the project. After meeting with other top landscapers, we chose to work with Dean on an extensive landscaping job. He provided a multiphase design that was inline with our budget. This design was completed with a couple of consultations with us, which we greatly appreciated. Following the design his crew went to work. They scraped and regraded entire yard, installed a beautiful bluestone patio with stone sitting wall. They also added an irrigation system, full sod yard, and beds. His crew worked hard and with attention to detail. They were very respectful to our neighborhood as they worked away. Dean was quick to answer calls from us and was very attentive through out the process. We would not hesitate to recommend Dean and his crew.

We had major ice dams this year. I waited until close to the last minute as it was going to get nice in 3 days. I messaged Dean via his website, he responded that same day - Very promptly. Deans Crew was able to come within two days - They were friendly, gave me helpful tips for the future and worked quickly & efficiently. They completed clearing four large dams within an hour and a half. The price was much more reasonable compared to other companies (By at least $150!!!) and Im very happy I went with Dean and his team. I will take steps next year to hopefully NOT have ice dams but if for some reason I end up with them again, Im contacting Dean Bjorkstrand right away. You should too!

Dean Bjorkstrand have cleaned our gutters for years now. They have always been reliable and done good work. Very responsive to calls and emails, too.

We always use Dean Bjokstrand Inc. for gutter cleaning (at least twice a year) and ice dam removal when necessary during the winter. In addition, Deans crew routinely does battle with the threats to our lawn. What impresses me is that Dean makes explicit at the front end what they are doing for you, and then, remarkably compared to other shops, his crew does the work when they say they will do it, and their efforts are helpful and well done. The operation is professional from start to finish, and Dean himself is very responsive should any questions or concern arise. I recommend his services to anyone.

I had a great experience with Dean and his company. I had them design and install a lighting system for my yard and from the start he showed up on time with ideas and how they could fit in my budget. The installation went smoothly without any issues and the lights look great. This winter a portion of the wiring was damaged by a snow blower and Dean came out the next day to help me with a repair. I am a senior with COPD and I asked my wife to get some quotes to make a retaining wall on a hill alongside our house so I would no longer have to mow it. Unbeknownst to me Dean Bjorkstrand said he would come out for $125. Well she wrote him the check and he came back with a quote of $26,000. The nearest quote from others is $10,000. When he looked looked at my humble house he should have known I couldnt afford the 26k. But he pocketed my $125. Quit a nice little scam he has got going there. So unless you have money to burn dont have this guy come to your house. I sure threw my 125 in the toilet. I am thinking about calling the better business bureau to get my money back.

Dean Bjorkstrand does exceptional landscaping work. We hired him last year for my property and my neighbors. The dry creek he installed is elegant and the perfect drainage solution to move water away from the house. The plantings he choose underneath my neighbor s maple tree are lush and beautiful. Dean gave us a bid after another company did and then did not follow through. We appreciated his response. We had a water issue to fix. He had a good solution and we are pleased with the work. They moved and replaced a great deal of rocks, built rock walls and berried drain tile. His crew is fast and efficient. We appreciate their work. On a side note we were not easy customers and he dealt with us in a pleasant manner. The grass is still growing so I will not post a picture. But it is lovely.

Came out and charged me $120 for 20 minutes time. That money wouldve gone towards the project if i decided to hire him. For 530 sq ft of pavers laid he was going to charge me $16,000. Really? Really! Basically, he pocketed my money and went on another consult. Way overpriced in my opinion. If you have money to burn go for it.

Dean and an associate complete a full-house window cleaning project in a day, a promised. We have an older two-story home in Minneapolis with windows that are hard for us to reach and disassemble for cleaning. They were careful with the interiors and things near the windows -- absolutely no damage or clean up for us to do.

Dean did a really nice job landscaping around our driveway and sidewalk. He took the job after several other companies either didnt return our calls or thought the job was not big enough. After a thorough and thoughtful consulatation I knew he possessed the knowledge and expertise to correct the backyard nightmare I ve been experiencing. The final project, a large retaining wall complete with perfectly placed perennials, is stunning. The backyard has improved beyond just being beautiful. I had Dean and his crew regrade our backyard and install a small drain tile system to prevent our garage from flooding, and add a new walkway. The grading works well, keeping water from out garage AND looks great. They got it complete very quickly, and on the estimated budget, while clearly communicating issues and considerations throughout the course of the project.

He had suggestions for me when I needed them and has understood all my concerns from the start. I have a 3-phase project with him and he has completed phase 1 beautifully. Dean Bjorkstrand did a good job with my regrading project. The work was completed in 2 days once they began. The process was painless from the initial consultation to project completion, and payment. There was some confusion about the final price, however Dean worked with us and we were able to come to an acceptable compromise. Im deducting 1 star for communication as there were huge lapses in communication after signing the contract to project completion. A tentative date was never set, even when I inquired. I was told they would complete it within a couple of weeks. They also came out to the property for a final survey prior to starting the project without telling us, and then when they did start the project, there was no advanced that they were coming that day. As stated, the final product is very well done and I would consider using their services again, hopefully with some better communication.

A couple of days delaying in responding to my email, but the guy was busy. Got that. He came to the residence promptly by appointment, made the measurement for the landscape rocks, and late in the evening the quote. I was unable to pay for what he quoted me for. I made another the request at a reduced price that we both agreed upon. Dean and his crew promptly and completed the project within two days. im 99% satisfied with his service and highly recommend Deans services to anyone.

How often do you get to say that you love a service year after year? 4 Years ago we said the following - and it is still very much true today. We have used Dean to clean our gutters in our 1920s four square for a number of years. To make it more difficult he has to wait for the last of the Catalpa leaves to fall. We had a hilly area next to our home that was difficult to mow. My husband and I were very pleased with Deans landscaping plan of adding a parking pad and placing 2 retaining walls for flowers. His 2 employees were very hard workers. They arrived early each morning, took very few breaks (even though it was very hot), they only took a short lunch before they were back to work again. They were very knowledgeable of landscaping and were more than willing to explain what any why they did things. Simply awesome. I contacted Dean early in the season and we went through a pretty in-depth consultation addressing my drainage concerns as well updating the poor landscaping attempt a previous home owner put in place. His crew was able to come out about 2 weeks earlier than originally anticipated and they worked efficiently. Dean answered all my questions in a timely manner with clear communication throughout. The completion of the project looks amazing and the price paid for the quality of work was more than fair. Highly recommended.

We were continually having water/flooding in our basement with each significant rainfall. Dean assessed the situation and accurately diagnosed the problem. Dean repaired, heightened and strengthened five window wells and re-landscaped the area to eliminate run-off into our basement. Dean did the job very well and very quickly, providing timely information from scheduling to estimating through to completion. Dean is a great guy, knows what he is doing and you can trust him to do what and when he says he ll do it. We ll work with Dean Bjorkstrand again and recommend Dean Highly.

Dean installed a backyard patio plus landscaping, a stone path and lighting. I loved the design he created and now that it has been installed it is beautiful. I never thought my backyard could look this fantastic. I highly recommend him.

They were efficient and prepped the area and completed the work quickly. We hired Dean to do major work on our property due to faulty grading around our home that caused water infiltrations and foundation problems. Dean took the time to come over several times, look at the situation, and discuss options and work required to fix the problem. He is very thorough in assessing the work to be done, so the proposal reflects the actual cost of the project and there is no surprise extra costs added to the project as we go along. He was flexible when we had issues with the initial schedule, and what we appreciated the most was his responsiveness whenever we had a question or if we ran into unexpected problems during the project. We would hire him again in a heartbeat if we had more work to do on our property and highly recommend him.

Dean did a great job of working with us to figure out what made the most sense for our space. He and his team were professional and timely. He brought us great ideas and was a pleasure to work with.

I cant rate the work but he charges a consulting fee for giving an estimate. Pretty ridiculous.
