Great place, great owners, very fun and unique gifts and diverse tree selection I ve ever seen. If you need or want something different, you need to go.

Personal touch was great. I was educated on plants.

We ve had many trees installed on two different occasions and the crew is great!

We hired Milford Gardens to plant eight trees in our community. From the knowledgeable people like Dee who helped us select the trees to the hard working crew that delivered and planted the trees, it was an enjoyable experience. We plan on using them again next year. I highly recommend Milford Gardens for your landscaping needs.

Delivered and planted two concolor firs. They did a real nice job! Price was reasonable. Would recommend.

Prices are ridiculous.

Milford Gardens did a wonderful job with our project of re-wilding some of our acreage. They were passionate about the job and helped us pick a variety of native trees/shrubs to create a natural looking area. Their planting crew did an excellent job working efficiently and cleanly. We are very happy with the outcome and will likely return in the future to pick out more to fill in the area.

Trees,shrubs,all good and healthy

I just bought a couple trees and had them planted, but they took great care of a small customer. They cleaned up everything, including the driveway. They were even patient with getting the trees in just the right spot.

Outstanding company!! From start to finish, Dee and the installation staff were professional, knowledgeable, reasonably priced and delivered great quality trees. I purchased two trees to be planted in my back yard. The 3 gentlemen who came to plant (on the 95 degree day!) were on time, very friendly, and cleaned up any debris that was left. Dee answered all of my questions and was extremely helpful with advice on selecting the best trees for my property. I would highly recommend them and will use them again in the future.

Disappointing

5 stars - first experience with them and I lived in the South Lyon for 10 years, I bought several box woods, burning bushes and grasses, they had BY FAR the best deal anywhere near this area (inc Bordines, Home Depot and Lowes) and the best looking plants. They were running a 50% off sale, staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

We first went to Milford Gardens some years back- new home construction and yard design. There was an older gentleman and young lady who were terrific, so we went back when we built again. The female owner told us that a dead looking tree would come alive in spring. That was a NO. Had another encounter with her when we stopped in looking for yucca plants. She stated Ooo- YUCK. Returned again when a tree purchased from them had bugs. Again had to deal with Mrs. B. No personalitycuzineedmeds. How they stay in business being as rude as that. Never been or going back! Love my Yuccas!

Great local selection! The employee that came out to greet us was incredibly nice and knowledgeable; and definitely helped us narrow down what we were looking for! Lots of healthy plants and a variety of options! Will be back to get our grab our final pick (they also offer delivery and installation)!

The day we contacted Milford Gardens to come out and give us a quote on a new raised flower bed in our front yard, they came out that very evening. A real good first impression. The quote came back very reasonable and we proceeded to set a date for the work to be done. A real good second impression. The two guys that came out to do the job did an outstanding job. We are very pleased with the new look of the raised bed. A real good third impression. When we have other landscaping jobs, well be sure to go back to Milford Gardens, in Milford, MI.

I love supporting local businesses, but I am disappointed with Milford Gardens. Both times I have talked with them, they have sounded irritated, and were unhelpful. And their prices are very high. It may be good for professional landscapers, but for the public, I was stunned by their high prices!

Great plants and products. Helpful staff. I like that it is smaller than most nurseries, you don t need to walk half a mile to find what you are looking for. The prices are way higher than other places. The same size weeping redbud that was $240 at Bordine s was $400 at Milford Gardens. And Bordine s isn t exactly cheap themselves.

Excellent choices and quality trees. Not the run of the mill varieties. Expert design and horticultural knowledge.

Highly over priced compared to other nurseries.

The people there are and very helpful love the Sugar Maple Tree we purchased. Highly recommend Milford Gardens!

Nice trees prices are little steep

Milford Gardens did an excellent job on my yard. They were all one should expect from a landscaping company and more! The quality and value were great and the professionalism was excellent. I highly recommend Milford Gardens from tree removal to full landscaping design and installment.

Wow, wow and wow!! Check out the reviews! Called in February they were closed but they had a recording saying if you had questions to leave a message. Left a vm asking if they had large pine trees and that I needed quite a few and was preparing for spring! No call back, now I understand after reading the massive amount of negative reviews! Boy thank god they never called back!!

Counter and office staff were rude. Quoted me one price then charged another. Very pricey with no warranties. All perennials I purchased didn t weather the winter. All I purchased from Lowe s and other local places are resprouting their second year. Will not go back!

Boy am I glad Milford Gardens is back open!! I have been buying trees from them for almost 20 years. I love their large variety of large trees. We have some really unique trees and bushes. We have probably purchased over 50 specimens from their lot. Our neighbors and friends constantly comment on the appearance of our landscaping. Not only are their prices super competitive, they offer a great relatively inexpensive delivery service. Ive not had an issue with any of their specimens, ever. In addition, their indoor garden decorations have bailed me out in a pinch, Mothers Day, birthdays, house warming gifts, etc etc Glad to have them in our community!

Always stocked with plenty of beautiful things ... staff is amazing!!! Lovely store and willing to order anything they don t already have . We drive from Rochester to shop there !!!

We love Milford Gardens. Their selection of plants and knowledgeable staff make this the perfect place to buy plants, shrubs and trees for your yard. Their team of installers is courteous, prompt and thorough. They arrive on time, work efficiently and clean up when done. And, shopping local is great for the community. We are long time customers and have been shopping here for over 30 years.

Great inventory, but customer service is wholly disappointing. The approach to customer care is very casual and embarrassing. I expect more from a family owned business

Milford gardens is beautiful as far as inventory goes. The staff know a lot about their plants. HOWEVER, they are extremely rude and their warranty does not hold up when you actually need it. The prices are outrageous.

Spent over $500 on shrubs. One of them was basically dead when they sold it to us - it didnt last a month. Took it back and they made us pay to replace it. Their warranty is the worst. EVERY nursery replaces dead shrubs within a year. Mine was dead in less than a month and they made me pay money to replace it and it was dead when they sold it to me. Manager rude and lied about their sale price. They flat out ripped us off!

Very disappointed, i felt like they RIPPED me OFF! I bought 6 Shurbs from them spending over $500 @ $80 a piece June 3, 2020 and one died on me. So i took it back today on July 12, 2020 to get another one and i had to pay another $40. For a new one. So all together for one shurb I paid $120. Mined you right now their shurbs are 50% off. My original shurb died just over a month not even a year. Their policy needs to be revised to keep customers. Ill never return and I will tell other people not shop there.

We add to our landscape yearly and we always have an excellent experience with Milford Gardens. Dee is extremely helpful and accommodating...she has even helped me avoid pitfalls multiple times. Most recently, on incredibly short notice, they moved five trees for me one day before I would have lost them to pipeline construction. Its not every day you can find a company that goes the extra mile for you. I highly recommend Milford Gardens.

We have worked with Milford Gardens for years and have had positive experiences. When I was selling my home in Livonia, I needed a quick landscaping update of the front near the house. The crew came soon after we contracted with them and they did a great job - house sold in 1st day on the market. We purchased a new to us home that had lost a huge pine tree and other aspects of the landscaping were in need of repair. We talked to a number of landscape companies about our project. Only 4 gave us reliable quotes. One did not take our interests into account and just wanted to do a low cost update. One had good ideas but was very expensive and the plan was too formal for our tastes. We selected Milford Gardens - they were mid-priced for the project but seemed to understand and respect our tastes. We worked with John and found him very easy to deal with and he certainly understood the wide range of plants they had available to meet our requirements. We were very happy with the way the project turned out - new stone steps to the upper patio, movement of large boulders to raise a sloped area where the tree had fallen, selection and planting of many new plants (all except 1 small grass have thrived). The did the project on the schedule we were promised. Not everything was perfect - mulching of the beds was included and we did not get to select the color, some of the product was too fine and it was not spread as evenly as I would have done (but my wife says that I am an engineer and expect perfection). It was not a major issue and we are fixing that this year. We also had them install a small water feature (falls). It turned out just as I had pictured but my wife had hoped that it would turn out more like the water feature at her prior home. It seems to be losing some water via splashing and we have to refill it frequently but I expect to get that resolved this summer.

Milford Gardens is the greatest place to buy large trees. Hands down. selection and quality that are unmatched anywhere, Dee the owner is just wonderful. Would give a 10 star if I could. Been going there for years and my trees are beautiful. Thanks so much Milford gardens!!

Always quick to respond, high quality products and quality installation. I ve bought trees, shrubs and had them do several landscape projects for me.

Very rude and unprofessional. Being rude and miserable is easy as it takes no work or skills. I cared for the bushes exactly as they told me to. They planted them too deep and somehow that is my fault. They stated the expert that is now taking care of them does not know what he is talking about. They will not work with me to resolve the problem. Hung up phone when talking to them today. Hung up when I contacted them with concerns last year after planting them. Thus, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited. 1 star rating is generous, should be 0. 5 stars for rudeness and customer service. Stay away these are not good people to deal with. Over 2 grand wasted on 16 arborvitae. The two kids that planted them apparently did not know what they were doing. They put all the dirt back that they removed when planting the bushes. They did not even open up the burlap around the root ball. These two missteps caused all the problems. Anybody that is reputable would warranty the full cost for a year. Lesson learned.

Buyers beware. I was sold 3 tress, One did not look well. I called them the SAME DAY they delivered it and told them it looked sick. They told me to give it time. I called a couple more times that summer as it was dying. The 3 trees were planted in the same row at the same time but I was told I must not be watering that one correctly. The tree died. They will not replace it. Will never shop there again.

Great selection, friendly staff, and awesome design services. We always get compliments on our landscaping and asked where did it come from and who did it. They have a big selection of trees and shrubs and it allowed our landscaping to look awesome around our house, pool, and patio. This is my second house Milford Gardens has landscaped and I remember the original building and layout nearly 20 years ago. I would recommend this business.

Good selection but can be pricey

CAUTION ** CAUTION: Please read before purchasing .. Visiting from Maine to purchase trees and shrubbery for a new home of my daughter in Spring ( 2019 ). Staff was knowledgeable and offered the service of delivery and planting for a fee. I was assured that with the professional installation along with topical nutrients amended in the soil combined with the proper location and watering ( routine irrigation ) all things would be fine ! Unfortunately one of a group of 3 trees had died. My daughter had reached out to a representative from Milford Gardens for assistance and to explain the situation ... the female representative advised that it was either lack of water of even bugs and she must dig the tree out ( 8 ) and physically return it for a 50% refund, store credit only accompanied by store receipt. She also added the back of the receipt explains the process. The landscape of the house has irrigation, lawn care and treatment as well as maintenance. Having all the above I said, well.50 % is better than nothing and maybe they will have some early fall specials. Reading the back of the receipt to learn of their meaning if GUARANTEE, it voids for water issues, bug damage, chemicals, lawn food and just about any other excuse possible, and does not cover anything for transporting or replanting. This review is not an attempt to bash Milford Gardens, I just want other people and families to inquire about the guarantees of the money they work hard for. There are many other choices in the area for plants, trees and shrubs with exceptional guarantees, for one example; English Gardens !

Love it

We initially were pleased with our purchase of (9) evergreen trees, however over time we have become anything but pleased. In the first year there were issues with three of the trees. One died and two had to have to tops cut off. The folks at Milford Gardens were not willing to work with us on these issues and instead put all of the blame, and cost, back on us. We paid them to replace the tree that died and the replacement has now died within a year. We had the second dead tree removed today and the arborist who removed the tree said it died because it was not planted properly. The burlap bag and wire basket were still encasing the root ball and preventing the roots from properly spreading. Many of the other trees are on life support, likely for the same reason. We feel we made a mistake purchasing from Milford Gardens.

I bought 4 beautiful 20 foot maples from Milford Gardens and it is amazing to have immediate coverage/privacy from the second story deck. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. I highly recommend!

Rude

Very rude. This is our second encounter of horrible unprofessional and dishonest service. We bought plants and had a $250 store credit of which the nasty owner lady will not honor. Very risky people to deal with.... Very rude!

Milford Gardens has been our go to for most of our landscaping needs. Theyve designed & installed our front yard landscaping including a huge rock berm & loads of beautiful trees. In addition to planting beautiful perennials, blue stone walkways & large lakefront patio. In addition their store front has great home & garden accessories & onsite there is an abundant amount of large & small trees & schrubs. I think they are the best in town & cant imagine going anywhere else. The owners always give me a generous amount of time & advice. Give them a try, you wont be sorry !!

I have been using Milford Gardens for years. Most recently Two visits totaling 30+ trees. Very professional every time even if its to replace a tree! Great service, Best selection of harder to find trees and fair pricing. The Fitzpatricks could not be happier.

These guys know what they are doing! We needed some work at our office, and they came out quickly, gave us a couple of options, and then installed just what we wanted. The place looks great, and they were prompt and courteous and clean. Highly recommended!

Amazing variety of plants to choose from. Can be overwhelming. Prices seem a little high, but good quality plants for sure.

My family and I have been going here for several years. I can honestly say that we have never had a bad experience, and our trees are gorgeous. The owner and staff are all terrific and eager to help. Truly, I would not buy a tree from anywhere but here.

We were seriously considering using Milford Gardens but after reading the reviews how rudely and unprofessionally customers have been treated we will go elsewhere. There is NO excuse for behavior like that!

Buyer beware!!!! Be sure and read the return policy before purchasing any trees. - No refunds, store credit only - 20% charge for changes orders after 24 hours - 1 year guarantee at 50% of price paid, does not include labor and delivery I never took possession of my tree and now I am stuck with an in store credit. The tree was delivered with spots on the leaves and we were told this is normal. Also told to expect the leaves to fall off the first year which would give us two months in the spring to figure out if the tree was healthy or not. Very nasty customer service. I would not recommend this nursery to anyone.

Milford Gardens does NOT even deserve one star! The owner is extremely rude! I called them last weekend and asked if they still had apple trees left. I was told they had quite a few left and the price was $25 each. She said if I was interested, to come back before they close for the season. Their sign out front says they are open for 6 more days. We hooked up our trailer to our car and planned on buying apple trees today. Once there, we were told they already had packed up all their apple trees for the season. We asked the owner if she would give us the $25 price on 2 trees next spring on the ones that were put away. She said, no, I cant do that and turned and walked away from us!!! So incredibly rude and unprofessional!!! I would NEVER go back!!! And, here we had planned on buying garden accessories for Christmas presents while there, too. Not anymore, not ever!!!!

I am shocked and disgusted by the way I was just spoke to by the owner of Milford Gardens. We bought our tree there a few weeks ago and it is already struggling. I brought in a few leaves for them to look at. An employee asked that next time to please bring them in a bag, no problem. When the owner was given the leaves he aggressively told me how I could have just diseased his entire nursery by bringing in the leaves. I apologized and he continued to berate me. He even said and I am being nicer than I usually am to most people. I told him that was sad that he talked to people so rudely. He continued to publicly belittle me and talk down to me in front of my girls. As he wouldnt help me, I told him he would just go somewhere else. I kept my composure the entire time, and the other employee even followed me out and apologized. After I informed my husband of the way I was treated, he called the owner who continued to be aggressive with him. My husband asked for them to come get the tree and refund our money as it is clearly struggling and they are unwilling to help. The owner refused saying the tree isnt dead and hung up on My husband. I came in with the intention of buying more plants and trees today, but will never go back there again. We wanted to support a small local business and we were treated horribly.

Avoid Milford Gardens. Hired them to put in a few plants & trim some trees. Surprized that it cost $600 but didnt realized that we got the bonus - a cut sprinkler line. I talked with the infamous Steve and asked if he can get his guys out to fix it before winter. Said he would charge $50 for a service call. A service call on a mistake by your staff??? Confirmed that I paid him to do X but not Y. His team made a mistake and needs to correct it. He hung up on me. Wow! Hang up on your X-customers? Ill spend the $50 making sure EVERYONE knows how un-reputable this company is.

What a humiliating experience! My husband and I hired Milford Gardens to plant 7 Arborvitae and transplant 3 rose of sharon. A winter snow storm and the poor digging of the 2 teens Milford Gardens sent to our home, proved a bad combination. 2 of our Arborvitae and 2 of our rose of sharon uprooted. My husband (2 weeks from having brain surgery) and I geared up and to no avail, attempted to stabilize the trees/bushes. From Winter2011-September 2012, numerous conversations, a few messages, Steve of Milford Gardens managed to disregard our complaint and us. He would put us off weeks at a time, stating the following week he would come out. He stated to us on one occasion that they didnt come out our way often and that we could have fixed it ourselves. He went on to add that his 80 year old grandmother could have handled that. What manner of professional would say that to a customer? We remained polite but assertive in our conversation. Our 2 Arborvitae are dying. Steve, owner of Milford Gardens waited us out and our warranty has now expired. We have been demeaned and treated with contempt.There is simply no excuse for this time of service.

Huge selection of plants. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the plants that do well in the area. Local business willing to reasonably price match some of the other guys when I asked. Im a customer for life now!
