In 2022, when we moved into our new home in Wyckoff (with a pool), my wife and I knew that we wanted to redo the hardscape and landscaping that had been done a number of years ago and which we found to be somewhat “dated”. We worked with a Landscape Design company to create a comprehensive plan that encompassed changes to most of the existing landscaping as well as all new hardscape in the back yard and around the pool. With plans in hand, we interviewed 3 different Landscape companies...all of which came highly recommended. Our initial meeting with Ken Steenstra Landscaping was conducted at our home by one of the owners, Chris Tanzola. We found Chris to be very professional with a very friendly easy going manner. During our initial meeting, Chris provided a number of helpful bits of information and suggestions. He immediately followed up with an extensive onsite review of the property and shortly thereafter provided us with a comprehensive proposal and pricing. I found his pricing to be very fair and transparent. He also provided us with a tentative timetable and details about the crew that would be conducting the work. After meeting with all 3 of the Landscape Design companies, I knew for sure that I wanted to use Chris for our job. The project began on time in early April and was largely completed on schedule. During the job, Chris worked closely with our contractor (who was doing some renovations to the home) and with several other sub-contractors (e.g. Mason & Electrician) and the Hardscape supply company to ensure that all phases of the project were properly coordinated. Chris also directly handled and coordinated the installation of new irrigation and landscape lighting. He was in constant contact with me and was regularly onsite to provide guidance to his crew and to ensure that everything was done properly. His responsiveness and attention to detail was impressive. Even after the project was completed, he regularly followed up to ensure that we were fully satisfied with the job. Overall, my wife and I are very happy with the results and I would highly recommend using Chris and Ken Steenstra Landscaping.

We hired Chris and his team to implement the first phase of our landscape design, which required rock removal, regrading, drainage adjustments, plantings, and lighting. Chris listened to our concerns about our problem areas with water, as we border a hill, and put together a thoughtful proposal on how to best proceed. The prices were competitive but the trust built during the initial discussions is what helped drive our decision to move forward with them. It was clear that they had our best interest in mind and it was truly a collaborative process. Chris was flexible in working with our timelines and did a great job communicating with us before, throughout, and after the project was complete. The team was very careful and efficient and did a stellar job at keeping the property clean. The attention to detail exceeded my expectations and they went above any beyond at every step. The final result was amazing! We have a couple more phases of work that need to be completed and we will certainly be going with Ken Steenstra Landscaping again!

We brought on Ken Steenstra, Chris Tanzola to complete our new home landscaping from the ground up. We were sold during our bidding process. Chris was very professional, detailed, and organized throughout the entire process. They deliver on time and pay attention to all the details. We have also signed on with them for lawn maintenance. I really enjoyed working with Chris. I have deer in my yard every day so we had to pick plant materials that would not be attractive to the deer at all. Not an easy task! Chris has extensive knowledge of plant materials and picked an Arborvitae variety that filled the bill. My plantings have been in for over a month and the deer have not even taken a look! He also picked Leather Leaf Viburnum, an evergreen variety, and placed them in the landscape in a most interesting way. He finished up with an assortment of perennials. Steenstra provided a great install team as well. I am very happy with the results. Definitely recommend Ken Steenstra, Chris and his team.

After looking at different companies I chose Ken Steenstra landscaping and I’m so happy with the results. I had Chris and his crew at my home for an extensive landscaping project. Chris had great ideas and he was able to explain everything thoroughly. His entire crew were professional, pleasant and super hardworking. From start to finish they were meticulous with their work and Chris was on scene constantly to make sure the job was being done the way I had wanted. Chris Tanzola and crew did a fantastic job on my property. Chris is very easy to work: Patient, knowledgeable and very professional. Crew was always on time and does impeccable work. Very satisfied and can’t recommend Chris enough! Chris installed a new stone patio in the back, walkway in the front, landscaped the entire property with a great selection of plants, installed landscape lighting, laid a pad for our new hot tub and fixed several small issues around the property that I was too lazy to get to. - Mike
