These guys are absolutely top notch. Everything from their design process to the organization in their shop is world class. They clearly take pride in their work and if you're looking for the best, these guys are it!
Three landscaper designers over the course of the project resulted in a less than smooth execution. Numerous issues and mistakes occurred and management of the project was mediocre, at best. Lack of communication between departments caused issues at most levels. Overall, the cost versus output reduced the value realized. I used them for Phase 1 of a 2-phase landscaping project, but will not employ Grunder for Phase 2. When I contacted senior management to discuss the problems, I was met with a less than cooperative and minimally empathetic response.
This is my second year of contracting Grunder Landscaping Co. to maintain my lawn. Grunder provided me with a personalized application for my lawn. The technicians who service my lawn are knowledgeable and courteous. Chris Brecht, who provides information on the many services Grunder offers, quickly returns my phone calls and emails when I have any questions or concerns. I am a loyal customer and wouldn’t think of shopping for a different lawn service.
My family built a new home in Carlisle and contacted Grunder to provide lawn care service to our property. They are prompt, respectful, and always professional. We couldn’t be more happy with our service and would recommend them to anyone who wants top service at reasonable prices!
Grunder Landscaping just completed a full Spring clean-up of my yard. It took less than a week to meet with Grunder’s landscaping consultant, receive a quote, schedule a time and complete the job. The crew arrived right on time and worked very efficiently. My yard looks fantastic. Everything was done meticulously well, including the clean up. I will definitely be using them again and recommending them to others.
From top to bottom, Grunder delivered an amazing level of service. From the landscaping ideas provided by Brad Keller (highly recommend asking for him!) to the execution by the on-site team, everything had a meticulous level of detail and thought. They transformed our yard in only a short couple of days. If I had another yard, I'd use them again!
Edit: We just had our backyard redone by a different landscaping company and the amount of work they had to put into our yard vs. what Grunder did was insane, so I wanted to give this review one last update. The new company quickly found out that about 2 feet under our ground is a cement like layer of soil that they couldn’t get through. This layer also retains water and was a big reason our house flooded last year. The new company had to install a cement patio with a very large retaining wall and SEVEN dry wells to fix it. Grunder was either completely unaware of this or didn’t tell me about it. They also had to reslope our backyard and fix Grunder’s mistakes with their drainage system. We’ve had several heavy rains since it was finished and the new system works great. Grunder barely did half of that and charged nearly the same price. And their design actually caused more water to flow into the area that retains water because there was no drainage out of my yard. I cannot recommend enough to stay away from this company. Some additional info: After inspecting the lawn further, I have found yet another issue. The drains in the yard are all in the middle of the yard, not the edge of the yard where they need to be. The whole yard is sloped. At the bottom, it slopes up the other way, not allowing the water out of the yard. The water then flows to the basement door which is why we knew we needed the work done.(see pictures). I do not know what they were thinking. Full review below —————————————————————————— I highly recommend avoiding this business. Their designs leave a lot to be desired and they don’t back their work that they do if it’s faulty. Update: The solution that is mentioned below turned out to be warranty work. Which is fine, but that wasn’t my complaint. My complaint was the design. They did offer to draw up a new design I could pay for, but I declined. I do not trust them enough to pay for any more of their services. The retaining wall they installed originally to mitigate the water did nothing to help in the slightest. This is a design flaw. This is what I thought would be the focus for a solution. Not to mention there were several additional services that should have been offered to mitigate the water, but they were overlooked in the design phase. If I come to a landscaping business and say “I have water problems in my yard,” one would expect the whole yard to be analyzed. Hindsight’s 20/20 but it still stands that all of the yard should have been analyzed. I never intended to ask for anything from the business. I just posted my review to share my experience with it. If all that would be offered is warranty work, I’d rather have been told that up front. I would have moved on, rather than put more time into this. Truly disappointed with my experience, will not use again. —————————————————————————— Had drainage installed around this time last year. Spring came and it rained heavy on a number of days. Our drainage system was full in a day and took weeks to a month to go down. We had this installed to prevent a flood, but it did nothing. So our house flooded a lot and it kept coming because the drainage wasn’t draining. I spent almost a week remediating the situation. And that’s not considered the price of the issue fix, which was triple what I paid for the landscaping.
Excellent work, great staff and super easy to work with. If you want a top notch landscaping firm, look no further. They now handle my home and my business landscaping for good. Awesome quality work and they should be recognized as a top company in the Dayton region. If I could, I would give more than five stars. I could not be more pleased. Highly, highly recommend.
I have Grunder Landscaping Company takes care of my house backyard for more than a decade. In general, I am satisfied this companys work.
A month later and they haven t finished the job per contract.
The team from Grunder is always professional and courteous.. They do exceptional work. Never hurried and no shortcuts. I would highly recommend them!

Excellent SERVICE! Nowadays, it is SO HARD to find companies that do what they say and EXCEED expectations! I came home the other day to a beautifully manicured lawn and landscaping - what a stress relief! I asked and they OVER- delivered!

I chose what I did not like about this business being, not on time based on the observation made assuming that the person driving a green Grunder company vehicle in a reckless manner by exceeding the speed limit by 30 mph in a construction zone 75 southbound, south of st. rt. 35 clearly indicates that I am late or that I just do not care about the safety of others or self, and will risk that to make it on time. Just because others are driving recklessly fast, does not give you a free pass to drive that way as well. Set the example and drive responsibly. The pattern of behavior can follow various aspects of that individuals actions. Could be in a hurry to get the work completed on our project. The safety training mentioned in some of the reviews needs applied and reestablished with their employees. The insurance company would be interested as well. That is how premiums go up. Grunder is presently outside of my house doing a small job. Ive never personally used them before but have heard many wonderful things. The foreman and crew are going above and beyond. I am so impressed and so glad that we selected them for this project. Thanks Brent and team.
The install team performed outstandingly. They dug very slowly, layer by layer because of the cable and electric right underneath according to the markings. The plantings were painstakingly installed, even replanting one shrub slightly for a better look. The mulch was a very nice final touch. The clean up was so meticulous, even including blowing off the street of leftover dirt. I couldnt be more pleased. Congratulations to this team -- they represented Grunder well.

Great job, Grunder, on creating a natural pathway as an update to our front garden. As a bonus, recent tree removal space was expertly seeded and is now refreshed with a lush green grassy bed. We appreciate the expert landscaping work and your advice for maybe a future project!

Grunder Team worked in winter conditions, site was kept clean and tidy throughout the process... new hardscape made immediate impact for guests and neighbors arriving at our facility.
We just moved to a larger property and as we were getting the equipment we found we needed more time.. Grunder stepped in and helped us out with keeping our grass mowed until we could do it ourselves. They were quick to get us a quote, very reasonable, and great at communication. Kent was super friendly and helpful. We really appreciated how easy he made the process as we settled into our new home! Highly recommend!

Brent Grolic did my spring cleanup on Friday May 21 in unusually high May heat. My yard has lots of ground cover and shrubbery and is on a terrace. It is not an easy yard to work in and Brent did an excellent job. I could not ask for anyone to work harder or do a better job.
On August 5, 2021, two Grunder employees (Gaston and Alejandro) cleared brush along the creek that runs behind our house. Both men were amiable and attentive to our desires. They listened to our description of what we wanted done and then carried out the project to a successful completion. The work was done in a professional manner, from start to finish, including a thorough clean-up. We are very satisfied!
We are renovating a building for our business and there were some gigantic cement footers holding metal poles. Gus and his crew made very short work of getting those removed. No matter the job, Grunder will get it done. Thank you, Gus and your crew!!
The whole team did an excellent job with all the work, communicating with us, and my kids thought the guys working in the back yard was the greatest thing ever. Every person was beyond respectful and courteous. My neighbor bragged about them to me every day when I got home from work, which I thought was a compliment as well. Grunder Landscaping should be your first call if you are looking to redo your yard. I approached three different Dayton-based landscape companies and for the first round of work, chose another company. They did good work but compared to what Grunders did in my second phase, just the prep alone assured me Grunders was going to look better and be a better value. The Grunders team from the person who answered the phone to the design team to the people who did the work....excellent service, high quality work and just nice people.
Last fall we hired Grunder Landscaping to solve a drainage problem at our house. I cannot say enough about the professionalism, attention to detail, expert advice, and successful results that their team delivered. At every level of the Grunder organization we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of their work and their high degree of customer care. It has been approximately 6 months since the work was completed and everything we were promised has worked perfectly for us. I highly recommend Grunder Landscaping.
Grunder did a great job installing the landscaping for our new office building at Korrect Plumbing Heating & Air in 2016. All the crews we experienced were polite and professional and hard working! This past summer we were struggling to keep up on the flower bed maintenance so we hired them again to maintain the landscaping a couple times a month. Ken stopped out at the office to meet with me and give a proposal for a maintenance plan and was fantastic. He helped me add and remove services to customize what worked best for our company. I paid thousands of dollars to Grunder to make the flooding in my backyard go away...after the very first heavy rain we had the exact same flooding...I sent pictures to Marty and told him that I expected him to fix the problem and he would not stand behind it...I had to hire another company to get it right, costing me thousands more...I was highly disappointed.
