Mid-America Lawn Maintenance in Maryland Heights

UPDATE: The response below glosses over the facts: the name Robert G Keppel is on the deed of the property cited in my review. He is listed as the General Manager of this company and is the son of the listed owner, Curt Keppel, so at the very least is a presumed successor as owner. A simple Google search is all that is necessary to uncover this information. As for the city's citation and corresponding issues, it's public information obtained by speaking with multiple employees from the office of Community Development in St. Charles regarding this property. I most certainly do NOT have this company confused with someone else; after all, the lawn crews that do sporadically service the property wear Mid-America apparel. Original review: I find it laughably ironic that the person in charge of responding to reviews here used the phrase "[We] strive to treat [customers] like we would our own neighbors". The name of the owner (update: actually the GM and son of the owner) of this company has been on the deed of a property next door to mine for nearly a decade now, yet I've never met him personally. Instead, we've been subject to nonstop unneighborly behavior: 1) Most pertinent to this company, lawn care has been inconsistent and lazy; the city has on at least one occasion cited them for failing to maintain the overgrown grass. When they do come, they wear Mid America gear; they also blow grass shavings and leaves into our yard nearly every time and more than once have caused damage to our fencing. 2) The house on this property has been in varying stages of disrepair and construction for the entirety of their ownership; only while a young family lived there for its first few years was it kept up. Since then, the only tenant who did live there completely failed to do so, and more often than not it has been vacant. Construction has occurred off and on, often using a loud generator running before 7 a.m., for years, without a displayed building permit. The city has cited them for this and other issues to no avail, as allegedly the owner did not show up for his court date. He must think he is above the city's code. 3) Broken asbestos shingles were placed in a pile in the backyard and left there for ages; since only the largest chunks were cleaned up and no remediation was done, the lawn crews have likely stirred up harmful asbestos dust, releasing it into the atmosphere mere feet from where my kids play. I truly hope the owner of this company does not treat his clients like he treats his neighbors; if that's the case, it is inexplicable that they are still in business.

This company is phenomenal. In this day and age, it is very difficult to find companies that follow through on what they promise. From the very first time Mid-America came out to my house, I have been elated with what they have done. Every single person that has come to my house to provide a service has been perfect! Also, communication is top-notch. Every time I have reached out, I have gotten a phone call or a text immediately. Mid America truly cares about their customers and treats them with such professionalism and respect. Other companies should take lessons from Mid-America. They have followed through on every single promise they have made. I am 100% impressed.

We have used Mid-America Lawn Maintenance for many projects around our house! From mulch, irrigation system, lawn care, leaf removal, pruning, sod, even Christmas lights! They are efficient, and always getting the job done. We have had parties & needed to get the yard in shape and have called, & Robert will send over a crew to get the yard cut, and looking good!!! We will be using Mid-America Lawn Maintenance for all of our lawn care and maintenance needs! Wouldn’t trust anyone else!

Note: they did respond and refund this latest charge quickly after I contacted them so adding one more star for that at least. These people kept charging me after I moved for a full year, even after I called and settled and closed the account. I don't know what else I can do but let other people know their customer service is garbage and have my credit card company charge back. Absolutely unacceptable.

If I could give zero stars I would. We have used this company for several yrs without an issue. When they started this season of 2023 we had issues almost every time they cut or didn’t cut our yard. The owners don’t care and won’t respond if there are issues. We paid to have our lawn cut, trimmed and the debris blown away. They rarely even cut our whole lawn, skipping sections at a time. Didn’t always trim and blew the debris right up to our door mats instead of away from the house. When I complained they fixed it the first time but every time after that they wouldn’t respond. You get a choice of who you use and I hope people choose a different company so they don’t have to deal with the poor work and neglect like we did.

Being a Maryland Heights resident I took please in selecting this local company only to be highly disappointed. I called them to get an estimate on what I would think would be a money-maker for them on the date of Tuesday April 5th, 2023 and was advised by their receptionist that I would get a call back by the next day. After not receiving a call back on April 6th I contacted their office once again on 4/7/23 only to then be told by the receptionist that a gentleman by the name of Ryan would be calling me that or no later than Monday April 10th.......No call............ Clear to see that they have too much going on to even give me a courtesy call back........I have moved on with my search but if this is the way they communicate I can only imagine what their work would be like..............

They cut my neighbors lawn and have caused damage to my lawn on multiple occasions. Instead of saying sorry, they say “we aren’t watching where we are going” and tried to blame me. I hadn’t cut my grass, yet. When you are operating machinery, you should be paying attention, especially when children are playing in the area. When you make a mistake, you should own up to it. It’s not hard for regular people, but it’s obviously a challenge for Mid-America lawn.

My yard is cut every week and I have been with this company over 10 years. They do an excellent job and the lawnmower men are friendly , if you ask them a question about your lawn they are ready to listen and do what service you ask them to do within there work guidelines. The owner of the company I know him and he is a good man and manager of his crew of lawnmower employees very well. I will give this service company , Mid-America Lawn Maintenance an excellent rating.❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 and there prices are reasonable to cut your yard. I can enjoy my life and do other things that need to be done , while my yard is looking picture perfect. You must try them give yourself a break we all are getting older let those young professional men cut your yard and be happy , God sent them to help you 🙏 😊.
