Rutland Turf Care & Pest Control in Marlborough

This our first year with Rutland Turf Care. The initial contact was friendly and very helpful in tailoring our needs to our rather larage yard. Their employees show up, do their jobs and leave. My daughter reports that her pet squirrel and bunnies are doing well, and no more tickbites in the family.

This company has mainly done fertilization of my lawn. But they also can do weed control, lawn aeration, and overseeding of the current lawn. My lawn has remained in very good shape and always looks nice. The only problem I have had is with wild violets being somewhat persistent. But as they have been applying a weed control for the wild violets, I have seen a noticeable decrease in the amount of these weed plants in the lawn. Overall, the people who have shown up at my house are courteous, polite, and seem to care about the work they do. I will more than likely continue to use Rutland Turf Care this coming year.

As we discussed, they called the day before the application, and it was put down without any issues. My lawn looks great.

The tech showed up on time as scheduled. He rang my doorbell to introduce himself in person. This is my first year. I am planting grass seed in part of my yard. He made sure he did not put down any chemicals that would harm the seed. He fertilized only in that area. He used fertilizer and crabgrass preventer on the rest of the lawn. I appreciate him asking my personal plans, so he could work with me.

I m giving them this rating because they was supposed to fumigate my apartment and I spent 2 1/2 days prepping for it because someone from the office sent over the information to my building management office and I m in a wheelchair and I had my PCA do most of the work for me and then when he showed up he said that he didn t come to fumigate he came to inspect so I was after I had spent time and energy on putting everything in plastic bags I wouldn t use them again or recommend them

Tec was prompt and courteous. Also very knowledgeable. He moved items away from home that were in area to be sprayed. The guys berating and fertilizing lawn were quick and courteous.Very professional.

I requested for a single time emergency ant control from here, and this is what I received: If you have a company coming Monday why contact us? Are you seriouse about hiring a company and bring loyal to them? It seems like theres a king living in the area, and we have to get their approval before we want to do anything.

They are very responsive and always walk you through in detail what they are doing to be applying to your lawn. They always stand by their work and have come back if I had a concern and addressed it right away. I have added the pest service this year and it has shown great improvement at our property. Nothing but positive experience with Rutland turf. I set up my account to get a phone call the day before treatment, and the lawn care professional who is assigned my house personally makes the phone call the day prior. During my last treatment I was able to let them know I had new grass growing after work on my septic and that the ground was a little soft. He had planned on using a heavier piece of equipment for the application, but for the area in question he made sure to switch to a push spreader. Much appreciated.

As a new homeowner, I wanted to be able to enjoy my outdoor spaces during the warm months. I noticed my yard had a lot of mosquitoes and other small irritating flies in the late afternoon and night time. I signed up for mosquito and tick treatment through Rutland, and have definitely seen an improvement. I can grill without getting swarmed! Id suggest them to anyone. Its not in the budget yet, but Ill be glad to use them for turf care in the future as well.

I was very disappointed that my prior lawn care company went out of business because I really appreciated the individual attention they gave to my lawn and its resulting great appearance. I tried Rutland on the advice of a friend who is similarly critical of the lawn care received. He couldnt have been more right. The staff is amazing. They always take the time to ring the doorbell to tell me the service they were performing and ask if I had any concerns or spots to note to them. They tailor their service to what my lawn needs, not spray every customers lawn with the same chemicals (Rutland drop spreads). They are experts in their field (no pun intended). I was happy to renew for this year.

Previously, I used a company that was acquired by TruGreen, and as soon as they took over, my lawn went from pristine to diseased. I switched to Rutland Turf Care because they re locally owned. My lawn almost fully recovered the first season, and now in my 3rd season, the lawn looks great, and is sturdy in the heat of summer, as long as I don t cut it too short.

Rutland Turf started lawn care with me this year (2024) and I have to say Ive noticed a world of difference. The lawn is much more lush and enjoyable to walk on. A lot of the bare spots have grown in, and it looks great. I used to spend a lot of money to try and do it myself, but now theyre doing it for less than I paid for all the chemicals, seed and such, and Im seeing a much better result.

Since this is my first year with Rutland, my experience has been minimal but always satisfying. The communication with Rutland has been incredible compared to our last lawn service company, whom I had for many years. I have recommended Rutland to my neighbors just for that reason alone.

Products are good, they show up in a timely manner, they send you emails regularly explaining what they will be applying to the lawn and why, before they visit. I have had a few issues when I first hired them, but was always able to get in touch with a person on the phone right away. Much better than the huge companies I have dealt with in the past like Scotts or Save-a-tree.

So for transparency, I have not used this company. This review is strictly related to the sales call I just had. I called to ask if someone could come out. The person on the phone said they could talk to me about what I needed. I told them that I needed someone that knew what they were doing (obviously) and that I was interested in a company that did not just throw stuff down and move on. I wanted a company that would actually maintain the turf, understand what to do if an area started going south, etc. The guy I talked to did not seem to know a ton of stuff other than the basic - they come out and fertilize and control weeds. I asked him what brands of fertilizer they use and he said its all golf course grade. I said great, what are the brands. He could not answer at all. I said I used to use Lesco and he said oh yeah, thats one of them. I said, great what are some others. He did not know. At that point I said ok, if you dont know what you use Im all set and hung up. Take it for what it is but if you are looking for something other than someone to come out and do a scotts sort of program, these are not the people to do that

Employees are very friendly. They come on schedule and helped a lot with our yard.

Rutland Turf Care has been taking care of our lawn for several years. Even in drought summers (particularly summer 2022) when all lawns were suffering, staff responded to our concerns for our dry front lawn, and responded with solutions to help. Recently, Rutland Nurseries designed and installed landscape for a difficult sunny sloped area, and we are very pleased with the results.

Recently hired Rutland turf for lawn maintenance program. Had specific areas of concern I wanted someone to stop by and discuss prior to hiring but was assured I would me good. Should have stuck to my gut and insisted for site visit first. First application they skipped the whole area I was concerned about. Second application they were skipping again until we caught them before Leaving and it was done with attitude. Also done during thunder storm warnings and left note not to water for like 5 hours, and it poured in less then 30 minutes. Called customer support and placed complaint and was told it was not a big deal. Then received call back from sales man that would not come out first and ended up ending my contact with them Edit... The issue is that you would not come onsite to discuss my concerns. I dont feel it was nessacary to say it was a play yard as you did not come look at it You have no idea what there is in there. I was not asking to spray slides ect... As I dont have any. They are all little tykes toys that are moveable. The problem is totally that you would not come discuss what we would or would not have to move and instead just kept skipping that area. As for the rain, you are correct you cannot predict it, but it was literally thunder storm warnings during the application that said dont water. Maybe the tech could have left a note or talked to us as someone was home. So I stand by my review, certainly could have been handled better by you and your customer support. Instead you bash me saying I asked you to spray my kids toys without knowing what was in they playyard as you never came onsite.

I had a lot of bugs in my yard, like ticks and mosquitoes, so I called Rutland Turf Care for help. I want to give a big shout-out to Alicia, the pest technician who did an amazing job. She really knew her stuff and did a thorough job, and I highly recommend her to anyone who needs pest control. When Alicia came to my house, she acted very professional and knew exactly what to do. She did a great job with the mosquitoes, in particular. She thoroughly treated my heavily wooded property line. I saw a big improvement in a short time. Another thing I liked about Alicia was how nice she was. She answered all my questions about the products she uses and made me feel better. Overall, Rutland Turf Care, with Alicia as the pest technician, went above and beyond to help me with my outdoor pest problem. Alicia knew a lot, did a great job, and I highly recommend her. I trust Rutland Turf Care and am grateful for her excellent service.

In the summer of 2020, our lawn suffered from the dry weather (as did everyone!). RTC advised us on watering along with a complete care analysis to help bring our lawn back to a healthy, green state. I found the service to be excellent. Any time I called the office with a question, I was greeted warmly and my question was answered clearly. Occasional updates about what to expect with each application and tips for how to best take care of my lawn were timely and appreciated. We finally committed to both lawn services as well as tick/mosquito treatment through Rutland Turf Care starting last fall and I could not be happier. Our backyard was green and lush through the summer and well into fall and even better I didn t see a single tick all season! With two young kids this was amazing, our property is surrounded by woods and the ticks have been a constant battle in the past. Beyond the results the customer services has been great and their field crew are all wonderful and very respectful. Cannot recommend enough!

Rutland Turf has been reliable 100% of the time. They came to my property every 3 weeks to spray the yard for fleas and ticks using their organic formula. They will switch to an insecticide if you request it. They always notify you of when they expect to be at your home. They write down what was done on your invoice. They are dependable and responsible! And -- no fleas or ticks!!
