I am very happy with the service provided by Crown Down. Their contract was very clear, and Nate explained all the steps he would follow to complete the job. I was impressed with the plywood barrier they used around the stump to stop debris from flying around when the stump was ground down. It was a rainy day when they cut down the tree, and they did a thorough job of cleaning my yard and the muddy street. There were no stray branches or twigs, and the street was clear.

Shortly after moving into a new home we had a large tree fall and snag in another tree on our property. Due to the proximity to our home I reached out to Crown Down for an assessment. Nate thoroughly inspected the tree and deemed it an emergency situation due to the danger to our home and incoming severe storms. Nathan and Caspian were the epitome of professional. From the first quote to the last leaf blowing to clean up the yard, they went above and beyond. Nate cares about trees and people. We had a huge pine that had to come down immediately, and one that was not an immediate threat but was problematic. He called in an arborist to advise. Then took both trees down at the same time since he needed to hire a cherry picker, but only charged emergency rates for the first tree. Clean up was immaculate. He came back the following week and spent about two hours repairing the gate post that he had to remove, even though we told him that it had already been badly rusted beforehand.

Nate and his crew are always true professionals. Todays project was stump removal. The crew were very careful to protect surrounding plants and our neighbors property from any unintended damage. They completed the planned work and provided a few welcomed recommendations for monitoring a large oak in the back yard. Crown Down Tree Services are our tree guys for all tree work going forward. The work I asked this business to do (hauling away logs that had been sitting in my backyard and occupying space in my brain for years) was straightforward and they performed it quite capably at a reasonable price. What really won me over was the professionalism on display at every stage of the job, from the prompt responses to my initial request to do the work, the speed and efficiency in getting an estimate and having the work performed, and the automated texts linking to an online job manager keeping me informed every step of the way. Additional points for taking care to protect my driveway from heavy equipment, and leaving the area where the wood had been cleaned of any debris with the dirt raked up so I could drop some grass seed right on it. We needed help with stump removals as we had a fence being put up in a few days. Nate and team were referred to us and even though were basically booked were able to fit us in at last minute. They showed up early and from the beginning of the job to the end, were truly one of the most professional groups that we have had work at our home. The care that they took with my garden to prevent any damage to plants or planters while grinding the stumps was amazing. And when they had finished with the grinding, they took the time to put everything back to the original place. The clean up was outstanding, no mess on the grass or in the garden beds and even cleaned off the deck steps. They left the area where the stumps were perfect for me to plant some annuals for this season. They were knowledgeable, polite, friendly and had an incredible work ethic which is much appreciated these days. We will definitely be calling them again for future tree removals and have referred them to friends and family without hesitation.

They quickly and safely removed two dead trees in our backyard, and pruned a large willow tree (with deference to our desired aesthetics, but healthy for the tree). I can t recommend this company enough! We met Nate at the Manassas farmers market when we asked a few questions about removing a couple of stumps and the health of a few trees on our new property. He came by our property for an assessment, gave a lot of advice, and, in a few days, provided a quote. We had to wait a few months to get the work done, but in that time, Nate gave us more advice and dropped off a pile of mulch to spread around a not-so-healthy maple we are hoping to save. When we scheduled the service, it was for a day my in-laws were babysitting. Typically, I d want to be home while having this sort of work done, but Nate was so honest, friendly, and helpful that I felt comfortable with him and his team working the work while away. We hired Crown Down Tree Service to evaluate our large oak trees that were dropping large branches on our sheds. Nate is incredibly knowledgeable about trees, blights, and bugs. He spent a good bit of time evaluating the trees and discussing all options for the trees. He also reviewed the remaining trees on the property. He found only a few needed trimmed and scheduled a date to return with his equipment and team. Crown Down Tree Service is more than a business; it s people. I have known Nate Hardy for almost a decade, and for much of that I have watched him grow into a passionate and committed arborist. When he finally made the decision to leave his old career behind and forge his new path as a small business owner, it was years overdue. Nate is an expert at his craft. He is knowledgable in dendrology, arboriculture, ordinances and statutes, and legal liability. When we consulted Nate about some concerns with a problematic tree on our property, he provided us with a comprehensive explanation of the condition of the limbs, the health of the tree, a timeline of the future life of the tree, and recommendations to improve its longevity. He provided a written scope of work very quickly after his site visit. His labor quote was reasonable, and the turnaround time on the job was quite rapid for a small business the labor of which has (justifiably) come into heavy demand. Crown Down s workers are professional, diligent, and tidy. They were respectful of our wishes and our property, even to the detriment of the simplicity of the job. The work could have been accomplished much more easily, but with the potential for damage to the yard surrounding the tree, Nate and his workers took extra care to prevent catastrophes. And when they cleaned up and left, they left no evidence that they had been there at all. There is an old saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I noticed in the Spring of 2021 that there was a limb that was precariously dangling from my 40+ year old oak tree in my backyard. I kept telling myself, I really should get that looked at, but kept putting it off. When Tropical Storm IDA rolled through the DMV in the summer, the limb finally snapped and when it did, it came crashing down on a corner of my deck, causing several thousand dollars worth of damage. Luckily for me, I found Nate Hardy and his team with Crown Down Tree Services. He was in the area doing work for one of my neighbors and asked if we could schedule an inspection. Not only is Nate a certified arborist, but he did a THOROUGH inspection and analysis of the tree by spending an afternoon climbing to the top of the tree (about 50 feet high), taking detailed pictures, and then explaining to me what the issue was. In my case, the tree had a disease that was slowly rotting the tree from the inside out. Nate even took a few cuttings to show me the wood rot and sent me a detailed write-up via email with documentation on the disease that my tree had. During the scheduling process, Nate was always very responsive via text and email, and always showed up at the agreed upon time. I was very impressed with Crown Downs commitment to safety and am happy to say that there was no damage to my or my neighbors property during the few days it took to carefully cut down and remove this huge tree. Nate ensured that the job site (including the roof) was cleared of any debris and that I was completely satisfied with the work before making remittance. I received a few quotes for the work before going with Crown Down, and Nate was by far the most fair and transparent with the pricing. Nate and his crew did an excellent job of taking down my tree in the front yard. I received a professionally written quote breaking down what each expense was for prior to hiring him. I didnt need him to haul the cut logs away so his crew stacked the cut pieces in the area of the yard I designated. I observed high safety standards from Nate and his crew members. The job had to be cut up into 3 days but I was completely flexible so that was fine. He took down a large Maple tree and grinded out the stump. He communicated each day of the job and was quick to respond if I texted him. I am very pleased with the work and would recommend Nate and his tree service to anyone.

Our property needed significant tree work above a retaining wall behind our building. This was the first time since the 12-year old building was constructed that this work was done. The retaining wall at its highest point is about 20-feet tall. The tree limbs had intertwined with the chain link fence on top of the wall. Crown Down Tree Service, LLC did an incredible job. We had Crown Down Tree Service out last spring to do some trimming on a very large oak tree in our backyard. They arrived as scheduled and completed all the work within the time frame given. Very professional, excellent work, and did a fantastic job cleaning up We just had them out again to remove two trees and grind out the stumps in our front yard.
