J&J Landscape Management recently completed a project at my home in Alexandria. From start to finish the team, led by Donnell, was responsive, professional, and the finished product was amazing. I would highly recommend J&J to anyone in the area looking for a landscaping team.

J&J was great to work with. They helped us build a full plan for our yard and implement it in phases to align with our budget.

Getting cut off by an aggressive driver in VA rush hour traffic with their branding on it convinced me not to do business with with them. Seriously, if you are driving a company car, do it with some respect.

We were looking to undergo an extensive landscaping project for our home. We initially tried multiple highly rated landscaping companies near Oakton, VA and met with many of these companies. However, after being ghosted by many landscaping companies, likely due to size/scope of project (RulyScapes, South Side Specialties), or being quoted with outrageous prices and paying $3500 for a kindergarten-grade landscaping design/blueprint (NOVA Landscape Construction), we finally met with J&J Landscaping. From our first meeting with Jamie Derrington and Donnell Jones, we immediately noted their professionalism and extensive knowledge with landscaping. We completed a walk-through of our project which entailed installing brand new mulch islands with magnolias/crape myrtles/ boxwoods/peonies/ hydrangeas / daylilies/azaleas/daffodil/etc., completely tearing out our existing foundation beds in front of our house and planting extensive plants/shrubs/mulch, building a retaining wall for an elevated foundation bed, clearing out/leveling/placing topsoil/sodding a 1/4 acre parcel of land, and putting in dazzling accent lights in the islands/walkways/retaining walls. They confidently accepted this challenge and started within 2 weeks. What impressed me most about J&J Landscaping was their constant communication with me, always keeping me updated on their progress. In addition, I tasked J&J Landscaping with coordinating with Pascual Irrigation in installing a sprinkler/irrigation system while they completed our project. Again, J&J Landscaping handled this coordination with aplomb. They seamlessly coordinated for Pascual Irrigation to install the sprinklers right after they had built all the islands/foundation beds/retaining wall, but before leveling and placing the topsoil layer for the 1/4 acre sod area. The J&J Landscaping work crews were also extremely professional and showed the utmost pride in their work. As our project progressed, we made many changes and expanded the scope of the work. The many changes that we incorporated did not faze J&J Landscaping - they were able to easily adapt and forge ahead with the new direction. This is a testament to their competence in landscaping and customer care. In summary, I cannot laud J&J Landscaping enough with their professionalism, knowledge, and quality of work. Their fair pricing undercut the exorbitant charges of other landscaping companies who charged almost DOUBLE the price that J&J Landscaping quoted. It was truly a pleasure to work with Jamie Derrington, Donnell Jones, and the J&J Landscaping family.

I was very pleased with their work and the process-- from scheduling, to the consultation and completion of the project itself-- was very easy.

This is an excellent company. I have used them for three different projects of varying size, complexity and cost, and have been happy with all three. They responded promptly to my initial inquiries, provided clear cost estimates, and in the most recent case (a drainage problem) suggested a solution I had not considered. In one instance, when a particular holly tree agreed on in the contract turned out not to be available, they promptly provided a slightly larger one at no additional charge. They are so reliable that for the second project, I arranged for them to do it while I was out of town, and it was all finished (including all cleanup) when I returned home. Highly recommended.

Wanted to advise of two (2) projects completed this year by J & J Landscape Management .. consider the results in both to be GREAT (5 STAR) The earlier project involved my observations concerning a project completed on the property of my next door neighbor about late May 2024. During the project on my neighbor s property they leveled the ground, removed a previous garden depression, filled in some low areas, added top soil, and planted grass seed. My impression was only by observation, but they worked the project continual for about three days. They were hard working all day, produced an excellent product, and the neighbor had only excellent comments concerning the employees. My project was done for 5 days the last week of July 2024, temperature was in the high 80 s or 90 s. During the project they mainly worked on the rear yard and removed a heavy weed area, cleaned and leveled the yard, added top soil, removed beds and replanted bushes, added mulch, and installed sod. They were not furnished detailed directions, only furnished a rough outline of the desired project, and told to make the product good and easy for them to maintain for their future Full Service Agreements. The Account Manager visited each day, offered suggestions, modified the original project plans as necessary, and checked on the employees due to the temperature. It was noted that the Ground Crew leader spoke both English and Spanish, which made worker communication possible. In the front yard they edged a few beds, added mulch, trimmed some bushes, and placed sod in a few areas with little no grass. During the entire project they all were polite, hard working, dedicated to providing a Great project result. and were responsive to any comments or questions. They were told to plant things based on their experience, and that to furnish any suggestions they desired. Result was GREAT (5 STAR)

We had J&J install permanent drainage in our 50-year old patio, where a makeshift downspout drain pipe across the patio had been installed by the Condo Association--not attractive and definitely a tripping hazard. Not only did the company install a buried drain pipe, with clean-outs, and a French drain outfall, but they restored the original brickwork in a way no one can tell anything was disturbed during the construction! Also, the work was done during an early cold-snap--very hard on the workers. Praises for your skilled, hardworking craftsmen and masons.

J & J Landscape Mgmt Inc just finished two days of landscaping work at my house, and it is FABULOUS! We had a ton of overgrown plants along the fencing of our property; we have a flower garden area and a big area under our juniper tree that were a big mess. The 3-man crew spent one whole day cleaning up our yard (1/3 acre). The next day they did more cleaning and then spread mulch everywhere. Honestly, Ill bet the neighbors think we are selling the house; it looks that good! The crew is professional and helpful; answered my questions during the process. We highly recommend this company.

They show up at 0700 and mow my neighbors lawn every two weeks. Im sure that they are very happy about their grass; however, the rest of the neighbors are less happy. Ive called the company twice and left messages, but funny enough they arent open at 0700. Strange isnt it? Update: the owner recently tried to get me to take down this review and said that it wasnt a fair representation of his company. Odd that the company wouldnt answer the phone or respond to my calls when I attempted to reach them and has yet to apologize or admit that their actions were questionable but are willing to ask for the review to come down.

I use J&J for all of my landscaping and hardscaping needs at multiple properties that I own. Recently, at one of my properties, J&J built a retaining wall along my driveway. The crew led by Yovanny did an excellent job. They were thoughtful and careful in the overall design and construction and always acted in a professional manner. J&J does a great job taking care of all the common area landscaping in our townhome community, so we hired them to do some work on our back patio. Donnell was very communicative, and the crew took their time and was very thorough. We could not be happier with the result!

I moved into a new home that had a wet driveway. Water was constantly seeping out between the pavers and the apron and I couldnt figure out why. In the winter, it would cause a sheet of ice at the base of my driveway that I slipped on once, and my car would struggle with (rear wheel drive + steep driveway + ice = #Fail). I called another company that wanted to come out, pull all my pavers, put a retaining tank or something under my driveway, etc. etc. to the tune of $13k. J&J came out and thought that the issue was somewhere to the side of the driveway. I contracted with J&J. Turns out that the issue was NOT somewhere to the side of the driveway, and J&J determined the best option was to install a French drain across the driveway where the pavers met the apron. The put it in, closed up two lines of pavers, ran a pipe to the storm drain, poured some new cement, and put everything back together and charged me only about $3k. I expected to pay way, way more. And my problem has been solved for 2 years!

We are so happy with our side steps that J&J did for us - beautiful work - Ernesto is an excellent craftsman and the crew assigned to do the work were very responsive and polite and so easy to work with. If there was a weather delay we knew in advance and we were always kept in the loop re project. My only negative is that I want more stonework done by J&J but had to stop at the steps. What happened?! I had this place out to do a backyard landscape/ drainage quote based on all of the good reviews. The person that came was quite gruff, which was fine, until it wasnt. As I was showing the person the severe erosion issues in our backyard, while pointing toward our downhill neighbors fence that had been knocked out by over a foot from a mudslide, the person actually told me that I didnt have an erosion problem. WHAT?! He then proceed to, and I kid you not, say, Maam, your backyard is going to be wet when it rains; theres nothing you can do to stop that. How derogatory!! I get a small river running through our backyard, as were on a slope, which is destroying our fence. What a waste of my time. Response to Owner: You stated I didnt have an erosion issue - there was no need to get back to you on an issue you dismissed.

A fantastic job start to finish. The J&J Crew arrived on time every day for two weeks and finished our new patio on schedule. Their attention to detail was spot on and their workmanship absolutely flawless. The beautiful design has transformed our worn out and overgrown old brick side yard to a beautiful new outdoor living space. The oyster blue flagstone is absolutely stunning. J&J serviced my lawn in Alexandria for more than two years. Heres what I have today after spending $180/month with this company. Pictures tell the story. Workers also piled up lawn debris along rear property line without permission, creating a miniature landfill where poison ivy, small trees, and wildlife took up residence. Owner was evasive and failed to respond to multiple attempts to reach via telephone. Services terminated. There are other lawn-care companies offering better customer service.

We just finished a fairly large landscape project with J&J. I worked with Donnell Jones and his team. They exceeded my expectations!. The work was exceptional! Their head landscape manager, Francisco, was top notch. The plant material, the sod, excellent quality. The demo of the old overgrown landscape was handled with expertise and they clean up everY evening and never leave a mess for me to deal with. Highly recommend !

If I could give this business a zero, I would. This has to be the most disorganized company I have ever dealt with. It took 6 weeks after I scheduled a clean up of my 100 ft yard to be done. I scheduled weekly mowing and it never happened in July. I actually thought they forgot until I get 4 invoices in Oct for $425 for mowing that never happened. After getting written up by my HOA, I finally found a reliable gardener one month ago. Stay away from this company!

Very happy with the work J&J did. We had them install a flagstone patio, large fire pit area, and mulch beds. The crew did a good job of cleaning up each day and the project manager made sure we were happy with the end result. We will definitely be calling J&J when we landscape our front yard in the spring.

We have used J&J several times over the years for different jobs. We use their leaf and bed clean up regularly in the fall and winter. More recently we had them clear a corner in our yard which involved removing a few trees and bushes, re-planting some bushes and creating a level ground, and rock platform for a shed. We have been customers of J and J Landscape Management for about a year. Thus far, they have provided fall leaf removal services and spring and fall clean-up services (weeding, pruning, edging, mulching and seasonal flowers). Earlier this year they also installed ground cover over a large space in our front yard where grass refused to grow. Ms. Jill Boyarko, Account Representative, has also been a pleasure to work with. The teams that arrive on site are punctual, professional and hardworking; leaving our yard looking fabulous every time! Outstanding customer service is hard to come by these days. J&J installed a flagstone patio at a townhouse in Alexandria, VA. I met with Donnell who was very professional and then quickly sent me a quote. He worked with my budget. They did a fabulous job on the patio. It was designed and constructed perfectly. It was a pleasure working with them and I would definitely hire them again.

I have used the company for many years, taking care of the lawn. They were always very reliable and did a good job. Recently I have asked them to clear the leaves from the grassy areas only and trim the hedges in front of the house. I got an outrageous quote for the leave removal, but accepted it. They did the entire back yard and the hedge in front of the house is still not trimmed.

Very professional company and very punctual. They responded quickly showed up on time and did great work. I found their pricing competitive with other companies that I spoke with, but they were by far the most professional and punctual which made a huge difference. Quality of the work completed was great as well.

The J&J Team was fantastic; from the initial design consultation, construction, and the final planting, the team was professional, creative, and provided great ideas & attention to detail. They transformed our previously unusable backyard into a wonderful outdoor living space! I highly recommend J&J. They designed and installed new landscaping around our addition, including hardscape. Jamey and his team were great to work with during the design process to come up with ideal design that fit our budget. And the installation looks amazing. The attention to detail is something I appreciated - during the installation, the crew always left the job site clean and everything was perfect at the end.

Easily one of the best service businesses Ive dealt with (and I deal with a lot of them). Staff members are polite and courteous; they shut down the machinery when theyve seen my kids walk up the driveway from school. I was starting to just accept the dandelions, dirt and onion grass my lawn had become but within a year of hiring them the crew at J & J have turned my lawn around and it looks fantastic! The flower beds, hedges and plantings are also all thriving under their care. Just hire them, you cant go wrong!

J&J were great to work with. Their team was thoroughly professional and knowledgable. We had them re-landscape our front and back yards and put down new sod in certain areas. They finished on-time and on-budget. When it turned out that they had extra sod, they even asked if i wanted more put down at no cost to me. Which of course I did! Now that theyve done such a great job of improving our yard, I plan to continue using them to help me maintain it. I highly recommend them.
