GreenThumb Leicester East in Leicester

I’ve only been using Green Thumb for a couple of months and honestly what a shocker it’s been. I was advised my grass needed airing, which is essentially making wholes in the grass to allow air follow from the soil to the surface. My grass was left a complete mess. I decided to continue with Green Thumb and had someone come to my address to perform a winter treatment. He arrived and I told him how to get access to the back garden. I was painting in the back room which over looks the garden. After roughly two minutes the Green Thumb worker hadn’t entered my garden, so I went back to my front door to see if all was okay. Only to to see the van driving away. I left it for 30/45 minutes to see if he would return but he didn’t.. basically he turned up and didn’t even go into my garden but stood by the side of my house for a couple of minutes before leaving. I called Green Thumb to report this and the customer service team didn’t sound shocked or surprised but rather skeptical of what I was saying! Why on earth would I make up such a story? I was told I’d have a call back and haven’t heard anything since. I’ve heard mixed reviews of Green Thumb but from my experience they made my grease worse and then turned up and pretended to do the work . I’d recommend watching YouTube videos to self help or pay a gardener. Avoid this lot.

DO NOT USE! Beware of this company especially the manager Kevin Toomey. He has been aggressive and verbally abusive to me, insinuating I owe an additional £150 on top of my direct debit - colourful bookkeeping going on, heard many poor reviews. Treatments not up to standard!

Definitely makes a difference to the lawn. Grass is much greener and thicker and with regular maintenance, there are no weeds. Would definitely recommend if you're wanting to keep your garden looking nice all year long.

Green Thumb were asked to quote for treating our lawn for Leatherjackets then killing off the present lawn, removing the turf and re-turfing. They quoted £25 for each application to kill the pests and £1,300 for the rest of the treatment. They carried out this treatment with a weeks gap in between. Seven weeks later after several reminders we managed to contact them to ask them when they would complete the Contract to be told “we can’t do it for that price” and they wanted another £350. We said no. It is a shame as we had decided to take out their maintenance plan at £30 per month to maintain the lawn. I would not recommend them at all.

A chap called Stuart came to my house and I showed him my small garden which needed all the grass uplifting as there was a drainage problem. He proposed just changing the grass and then committing to a plan where I pay monthly to have green thumb come out and spread seeds over it. This was quoted at £650.00 + the plan. I was told to dig a gully and fill it with pea grain myself to assist with the drainage. I was told if Greenthumb did it then the cost of my garden would be around £1500.00+. I was told Greenthumb will be round my house within 3 weeks and to ensure I have dug out the gullies accordingly. 3 weeks later I decided to take some initiative and ask what date they were going to come... I was then told they will not be able to come as it was not the right season for the new grass to grow. They proposed coming round 3 months later which was just not good enough as I’d already dug up my garden with the gullies. When I called back to try and get hold of this man called Stuart, he did not return my calls, nor did he bother coming round to apologise for the incorrect advice given. When I called the office they did not even have the details of my property. I must admit I’m glad I dodged a bullet as there was a bigger underlying problem. I had lots of clay inside my earth which needed to be removed. Greenthumb did not acknowledge this and thought of just changing the grass to sort out the problem. Luckily I did not get ripped off. I ended up calling another gardener and doing the job ourselves for just £600.00 including all the materials, new grass, seeds, and topsoil. I wonder how many old people end up being charged extortionate prices to have half the work done by Greenthumb. The company called me back last week to ask if I still wanted their services, can you guess what my answer was?..
