We used j&h to do a yard and sprinkler install and could not be happier. He was ahead of schedule and went above our expectations. We couldn’t be happier and so glad we chose them to do our install! We will definitely recommend j&h to friends and family.
J&H was responsive to my voice mail and my texts. Price was competitive. Delivery was on time. The pile of gravel was dumped in a neat pile next to my curb, and not a single rock poured onto the lawn which I really appreciated.
J&H did the backyard for my new construction home including grading, drainage, block retaining wall, sprinklers, sod patio, curbing, and dry creek. I challenged Jackson to give me the budget option on multiple items and he delivered. The quality relative to the price was great. Some frustrations included not knowing when the crew was coming to work despite asking for advance notice, delays due to not having the correct materials or parts, prices of some sections creeping up during the project, a new crew each phase which required an explanation of the plans, and final payment requested when the job was 95% complete. I think many of these frustrations are common to hiring landscaping companies or contractors, but I have high expectations when spending tens of thousands of dollars on a project.
Jackson did a great job fixing a leaking stop and waste valve. He showed up on time and communicated with me throughout the process. If you need sprinkler work done, make your first call to him. 5 STARS

We had such a great experience with J&H Landscaping. Our yard looks beautiful. They were quick to respond with any questions we had, they were very careful when getting equipment in and out of our yard, and they were very thorough. If you need any landscaping done, you can’t go wrong with these guys. Thanks Jackson for everything!
Jackson and his crew were great. There were a few delays with weather and HOA stuff, but they were great with flexibility. Sprinklers, curbing, rock, plants…they did it all!
We’ve had a long and frustrating process with j&h. Here are the things to watch for if you decide to go with them: 1. Quality of work. Jackson’s work is great, but he’s consistently sent less experienced kids to our project. They buried our downspouts immediately next to the house causing damage including eroded out and and broken curbing, ruined grass, and improper drainage which was part of the reason our basement flooded. They put sprinkler lines/heads where we had plants going in our designs, and wouldn’t correct this even though we discussed it. The grading of our backyard isn’t great. Our trampoline install was poorly done and now sits about 1 foot lower than the rest of our yard. Jackson said he was going to put gravel under the tramp during the install. Never did, and now it’s a sunken in mud pit. 2. Consistently inconsistent. The other reason our basement flooded was due to his team’s negligence to show up like they told us they would. Our sprinklers did not properly turn off and were left running for 3 days straight while we were out of town. Ironically this didn’t happen until after his team had come to the house, then failed to return to the job that weekend like they said they were going to. Ended up being a jammed valve that Jackson cleared in 2 minutes. Could have been prevented and now we have thousands of dollars in damage that we’re dealing with. In the past month alone, we’ve had Jackson cancel or reschedule, or just no show us 5 times now (since April). 3. Mismanagement. Jackson seldom shows up to manage the work. He’s been telling us he has to “squeeze us in” after his other jobs. Why? Aren’t we your client too? With the consistency in in cancelling, it’s become apparent that time management isn’t great. When we hired him last summer, we gave him plans to use. That was pointless as they weren’t followed, and we’re still dealing with fixing things such as missing drip lines where plants were installed. 4. Missing tools. Consistent with another review, we’re now missing both of our shovels (after his crew has showed up). I contacted them about our first missing shovel last year, but never had it returned. Within 2 showings this year, my other shovel went missing. I don’t believe they’re “stealing” them, but due to the poorly managed operation, they’re not aware of what is theirs vs their clients. 5. Accountability. We just want what we paid for to be done. We want them to show up when they say they will. I so badly want things to go well for Jackson because he’s a good guy, but I unfortunately can’t confidently recommend j&h based on our personal experience. Final update: we kept getting treated secondary to other clients which is fine since they’re probably spending more money. Jackson came out and quickly fixed a pipe his crew cracked. I’ll be ripping up grass and curbing that was ruined due to improper drainage. He told me he would do it, but every time we’d talk, it would be “2 weeks out”. Never got closer. We will be hiring another crew to finish this job.
I m a General Contractor, Only reason we used him was for his timeline which we regret. terrible plumber, expensive and does poor work. Told me he couldnt move a drain he bid to move once he already started the project and sent me a video explaining why and said that we would essentially have to rip up the entire concrete slab of a bathroom(I had other plumbers check it out and it was pretty clear he didn t know what he was doing). He also installed a shower drain that was extremely off level, it looked so bad. Luckily our tile guy caught it. Instead of doing it right the first time or coming back the next day to fix such a blatant mistake he headed off to lake Powell and we had to set our tile guy back 4 days so he could return from his trip and get it fixed. Extremely disappointed, couldn t provide me licensing information and it was an absolute wild goose chase, even had to call dopl to verify. He told me he was a journeyman plumber but is only had an apprentice license. Demands to be paid and will not hesitate to threaten a lien so make sure you cover your bases with this guy. if you re going to hire him, you better know your way around construction or hire someone else to come check his work.
Jackson and his crew did great work with our concrete patio & front steps! He was very easy to communicate with, not pushy, and very fair. We plan to use him for future projects as well.
They came out quickly, removed a large bush that was in the way whose roots caused the stop-n-waste to become inoperable, replaced the stop-n-waste at my request and replaced the ice damaged back flow preventer
I have used this company on two separate occasions. Both times, the response has been remarkable and he did an amazing job! I would highly recommend their services!
Jackson installed water, sewer and PI laterals on a new development for me and did a great job at a reasonable price. He was easy to work with and stayed on schedule.
I had been needing topsoil for weeks but no one would sell me just a couple yards, but Jackson was super helpful and treated me with the attention that I would have had if I was buying 10+ yards of topsoil, it was a great customer experience. J&H landscaping is the place to go.

Delivered rocks in a pinch, great service and value
I am a art teacher at a public elementary school. I was looking for 600 rocks for my students to paint. I called several local nurseries and landscaping companies in my search. I was so impressed with J&H!!! Jackson Hinckley (the owner) called me back immediately and quickly sent pictures of my options. I texted back with a selection of rock and when I asked for the pricing he asked me to call him back. I was shocked when I called him and he explained he would like to donate the rocks since I was a teacher. This was a very different experience compared to the other companies I called. The others were very vague as to what type of rocks they could even offer and what the pricing would be quoting anything from $99-$200 per yard (however many rocks that even is). I did not even ask for a discount. Jackson s offer came simply out of the goodness of his heart! It is so clear that J&H is a company that can be trusted and takes care of their customers. I had 600+ rocks within a few short hours. He had someone meet me to load the buckets and then load them into my car. Thank you is not enough!!! Care like this is extremely rare these days. I m forever a giant fan of J&H!!!!!!!!!
Love these guys. I ve been in a bind with some boulders stuck in my yard for a while and I needed them out asap and they came through for me.
They were kind, quick and very knowledgeable. They also came back on to turn on my sprinklers because I couldn t figure it out!! They got everything replaced and taken care of quickly!!! Their rates are very reasonable too!!

These guys, especially Jackson and Conner, are the best! We had them come in and remove the grass in our backyard and grade it. Then they got us road base and put it down so we can lay the flagstone ourselves. Hard workers, great communication, and a fair price. They let us customize what we wanted to do and answered our bazillion questions; and, we are so appreciative to find excellent workers for our smaller job. Would definitely hire them again!

They installed a sprinkler system in our backyard. It was priced very reasonably and we got booked on the week we wanted it done. They were on time and got our entire backyard done in one day. After install, Jackson was very helpful with some minor issues that came up.

We called several companies in an attempt to repair our sprinkling system, and J&H was first to respond. Jackson came out the next day, repaired everything quickly. He was very professional and had great communication!
Had sprinklers installed, broke that month and it took forever to have him come out .He wouldnt respond to my messages. Broke our fence and never came back to patch it. Dont waiste your time. They dont do a good job and there flacky. Please find someone else who is professional and does good work. They were supposed to take off a $100 then patch the fence but he never came back to patch it.
Jackson replaced a sprinkler manifold. He worked on a set price, was fast, reasonable, and very competent.
Jackson, so sorry it has come to this. Weve tried getting in touch with you to get our shovel and broom back but theres been no response for over two months. The following however, are a list of things that I think might be worth examining in order to help elevate your business practices. 1. Do not offer your potential clients a discount at Thrive and then not follow through. I was not expecting a discount but you offered and then backed down. I understand you get a cut from the plants we buy and was expecting to pay full price until you made the offer. Dont make offers you cant meet. 2. Do show up when you say you are going to, or make a timely effort to reschedule. You booked us a few weeks out and the morning of installation called and said you were running late. Running late turned out to be two days. later. 3. There was an error when ordering the right amount of rock. Thats fine, I understand. But it was weeks of saying youd be back tomorrow to finish before tomorrow actually came. 4. When you back into someones fence you should address it right away. I watched you back into my fence and waited a couple of days for you to bring it to my attention before I finally did, which begs the question, were you ever going to tell me? What would have happened if I didnt see that happen? 5. The trees I wanted were never installed. I was told multiple times theyd be installed tomorrow but after almost a month I figured Id do it myself. 6. When your crew accidentally takes off with our yard tools, please return them in a timely manner. Weve been ghosted now for months. 7. Please advise your crew to notify the homeowner if they break a water line so they can adjust the watering schedule. Our main drip line was severed during rock installation and it wasnt mentioned to us and I didnt know until the next morning when I looked outside and saw a river of water flowing through my flowerbeds. *I truly want to see you succeed in your business, but this experience was rough and I cannot in good conscience recommend you to anyone at this point. The rock installation looks very nice and we are happy with the finished product but getting there was really frustrating.
Jackson and his crew did a phenomenal job on our back yard. I had a vision and they brought it to life. We had them do a retaining wall, grading, underground trampoline, sprinkler system, and sod. They met deadlines, communication was on point, and the whole crew was friendly. Ive got a few neighbors and friends Ive referred them to as well. Happy I went with J&H.
