TruGreen Lawn Care in Lake Forest

The worst possible service. They pretty much killed off my lawn and when I tried to cancel the service they just kept turning up. Every time I called them they promised that they had canceled and yet they kept turning up and kept billing me.

The job was done right.

Not only did the tech intentionally leave my gate unlatched last time which made almost lose mu dog (which I have on my video camera, he went to latch it, didnt because he had gate still open, he looked again and walked away), I called right away and canceled and demanded a supervisor to call me back. Needless to say they never called me and guess who showed up today... in my yard at 645 am, never knocked, and spraying away in my yard on top of their toys, orange balls everything... I am so fed up with this company

Three years ago our lawn was in poor condition. Way too much creeping Charlie. True green was able to get rid of it. Our lawn is now lush and feels like a carpet when we walk on it.

Very cunning, make sure you keep contract and statements and what they are doing. Say one thing and and now they try an upper hand, saying another. No longer using Lake Forest. It is a shame because the worker was great doing my landscape maintenance. The administration had billing issues for two years. Accusing me of unpaid service with bullying tactics. Took long phone calls and someone that could really take care of concern. Because once yearly season finishes all maintenance, sales representatives are gone. Also note your credit card is held, charged, for the following year, no calls, and doing service, that where problems start, unless you ask to remove give 1 star to adminstration representatives that I actually talked to, went to see to and talk to in Lake Forest yet 5 star for Mr. Alejandro for his job well done and a decent worker.

We get notification of our lawn service by text and email. Our lawn looks great. We also use the aeriation and overseeding and this has helped with the health of our backyard.

My husband inquired about services and ended up receiving 4 calls a day. When called to request he be removed from list we were hung up on by Lee from the local office. Not only that but quote was around $800 more than other local family owned businesses. All and all, would not recommend even getting on this places call list.

On 5 occasions, 4 times last year and today, they said they were at my house for a fertilizer application, they charged me, but they never did their job. When you call them, they always have an excuse that they ran out of fertilizer, the technician got the wrong address, etc., or even call you a liar saying they did the application. When I told them I have security cameras all around my house and they never showed up those days, they wanted to offer me a $4 discount for the inconvenience. Dont do business with them

After weeds were still present after 1st application, TruGreen came back today for additional follow-up treatment at no cost. Very responsive. Thank you.

My Magnolia tree had Black Soot on it which turns the tree black , it stopped the beautiful flowers each year and can kill it after a while. Its an insect. I tried everything and couldnt get rid of it. TrueGreen came out the next spring and after one application I could already see the difference. Now my tree is completely clean and no black soot and it is flowering and healthy again.

We had insect and Pest Control done on our trees and shrubs. He did a very thorough job on all of them. We are very pleased with the service he provided.

I signed up for Trugreen and than couldnt sign back in. 1) I spent 30 minutes with their IT department. 2) I made an appointment for my first service today between 6:00a-8:30a. I left at 9am and on my security camera they didnt show up till 11:17. No phone call or anything. This was the first time someone was coming out to look at my lawn which is why I made an appointment. I dont need to be home after things are established. I called Trugreen this morning and politely explained the situation. 3) 20 minutes on the phone and was disconnected. No one called me back to complete the call. The only nice thing I can say about this company is that their employees on the phone are very nice. Unfortunately their service is not. I have called them back and cancelled the service. If they run a company like this I want no part of it. Look at local companies who will be there and do what they say they will.

Our lawn care specialist Ryan is the best one weve had by far. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable. Great service and explanation of work done.

Had to remind lawn pro to do the back yard also. Lawn pro was here and gone in less than 20 minutes. Never knocked on my door like paperwork states. Honesty and a thorough job go a long way with us. This was a hit and get service today.

On Tuesday 8/22/23 your tech arrived at 0600, way too early Contractor work cannot begin for residential until 0800. I never made an appointment for this visit. I believe the neighbors called the police to complain.

I ve had my front lawn dug up many times since we ve lived here (water main breaks) and they repaired it with gravel and the worst soil you can imagine, consequently cheep seed, bad soil we ended with nothing but weeds very little grass, after using this service since the beginning of the season, a very different looking lawn and we are so pleased with how it is doing now!

Our lawn has made good progress in the 3 years TruGreen has provided support. The challenges occur with their ability to make applications on schedule but more importantly with the attitude of their call center operators and the lackluster response time of their General & Service Managers (they dont return calls). They have a fairly good result but the aggravation outweighs their performance.

The technician notified me via email that they were providing service. After the task was finished I was notified again via email.

Each time they let us know via their app when they are coming a few days ahead and on the appt date what time and where they are. They explain what they intend to do during their visit and for how long. Then the technician carefully walks around and intentionally covers the correct areas. Have used them for over six years and very satisfied! JJ

Theyre doing a good job at lawn care. Sometimes too good. Last year burned my crops along with the weeds.

I tried taking care of it myself, but the results were not the same.

Signed up in March and Trugreen came out for their service, it is now almost 2 months later and I am still waiting for the second application. My yard now is covered in Dandelions, Creeping Charlie and Crab Grass is starting to appear, Had my April service been completed as I expected my lawn would look great, instead my lawn is damaged and is ruined for the year. I had to reach out to Trugreen to get them to schedule a service but I have not heard from the locations manager or anyone else on why they failed to show up. So far they have disappointed me beyond belief as I have seen several Trugreen trucks treating neighbors yards on my street this week. I will be looking to alternate companies who will value my business more.

I began my service with TruGreen when we purchased our new house in June 2021. It is now mid May 2022 and my lawn has never looked worse. It was slow to green this spring and barely growing in spite of at least two fertilizer applications this spring and lots of rain. There are multiple bare spots that were not there last fall. The turf service is truly disappointing. However, it s the customer service that has driven the decision to cancel. Two days ago I called to voice my displeasure and cancel. The rep convinced me to stay by offering free treatments to remedy the problem. But the call from the general manager never arrived and my calls to follow up were completely unproductive and frustrating. Free treatments without a plan are worthless. A year ago I was hopeful I d have a green, lush lawn this spring and summer and now I m forced to start over. My advice is to keep doing your own lawn treatment or find a true professional to do the work for you.

Didnt come for 1.5 months so I called them confirmed service for 5/2, NO SHOW. Rescheduled for 5/5, NO SHOW, was marked as customer cancellation. I called them and they reschedule service for later in the day... NO SHOW. Several of these calls they escalated and a manager was supposed to call me or come out, NO CALLS. Im done. 3 no shows in 1 week and a skipped service. 1+ week later, ANOTHER skipped service, took 4 days for a manager to call me although each day I called I was told within 24 hours.

I called asking for lawn care services and they said they do not mow lawns. Im not sure how that is okay in this field of business.

I called Trugreen for pest control because we just purchased a house with a large yard. They got a technician over within 2 days which was great until he said he could only spray around my house and high volume areas. My whole yard is high volume I have kids and dogs. My dog got a tick on him which is why I called in the first place. I told him if he s not going to do my whole yard then I don t want services. After the guy left I called the company and they told me that he was wrong and they would send a new technician out. New tech never showed up. I called back to see what was going on and they cancelled my account and took my money. Very upsetting to say the least.

Dear TruGreen, Ill update most recent visit TruGreen Clyde shows up 7/29 and finally get him to spray the lawn. He told me I was charged for the 2 previous applications but I was there walked the yard showing him where they hadnt sprayed on any service this season. 7/15 So another driver courtesy spot treated my lawn and told me it was done. I walked the lawn with him. A week later I received a bill for $88 he hadnt done anything but touch up what they missed and he did with a small spray can. OMG this is crazy cause that means they were at my house doing nothing and billing me for it. If I hadnt been home I would have never known. Well this has been the most disappointing service I have ever received. My neighbor had the service truck here in April and the tech left without doing my service, I was told when I signed up this winter that the first application would be in April 2022, Now mine was not completed until May 27th 2022. The tech came out and said he couldnt do service because of landscaping on the property which was not the case and caused 2 reschedule. This was because My neighbor was having concrete work done in the back of his house the day the tech showed up. You Should See how terrible my lawn looks. The weeds have completely taken over - sad because we have a party with a hundred guest coming over June 11th and I will be sharing how terrible this experience has been.

Absolutely terrible! Not sure how this company is still in business. Instead of my yard they treated my neighbors yard. The next time they never showed up but send the bill. I called and spoke with the rep who promised me a free treatment as a courtesy. Instead I they send me a bill for something I have not requested a service for. I called and got rep who is working from home and her kids are yelling on the background to the point she could not speak with me. She said that she is removing the charges, and I requested to send me an email. The email came very laim. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! YOU WILL BE CHARGED BUT SERVIVE WILL NOT BE PROVIDED!

Havent had weeds in two years

from day One they had been very manipulative with the contract fee until we said yes to the service. thereafter, everytime someone was coming, they covered different set of area and each and everyone said that they have been told to cover this area and the pricing told to us are wrong as the our lawn area. if we asked to cover the area,the person would say,they do not have that much quantitiy of chemicals to cover our lawn area. they actually do not come to your property when they quote the price and just give estimation by looking at the pictures on the web. since ours is a no fence zone, they ar enot good in estimation. their app is very outdated. it will give yout notifaication that the person is scheduled, and we can reschedule the appointment on app, but it will redirect is to make a phone call and one time I had to be on line for almost an hour just to talk to the correct person. One time, they also came on a rainy day. but one of their guys told us that we cannot turn on the sprinkler for that day after they spray,but when they come on rainy day, will rain wash away the chemicals. SO i believe they are just trying to make money and do not have any knowledg eabout the same.

Very poor service. Cannot recommend Trugreen. Their technicians do not come when they are scheduled; they have serviced the wrong house a few times, most recently this week. Calling customer service does not seem to help since all they do is take your name and then do not follow up.

This is our first year with TruGreen and were very happy with the results. We thought our lawn was doomed but its come back due to TruGreens treatments. Service is dependable and communication is good.

Worst services I even experienced. The specialist named Vincent B just parked his car and sat in the car for 20 mins before sending a message that the service is complete. Horrible staff and extremely poor service. Please DO NOT take Trugreen for your lawn care.

I left another servce after three years and was not happy with my lawn. Nver again for the doctors.... Trugreen came in and just the first year of service has my lawn looking outstanding!

Tru green is awesome Ive been using them for the last 5 years no longer have any problems with weeds or dandelions there always available when I need to have a respray done. c Customer service is excellent! Very satisfied with their service. If you added up the cost of buying fertilizer, weed killer and applying it yourself, you would spend more money. Plus, the weed killer and fertilizer that you can buy at ac big Box store is not as powerful as what tru green can put on. In the State of Illinois you must be licensed to use effective fertilizers and weed killers.

Terrible. Cant stick to a schedule. Waiting for 30+ days with 5 rescheduled no shows for aeration/service. Manager call backs just transfer you to the main line with 5 hour wait times. Im never using them again.

Horrible non effective weed application and abysmal customer service. Canceled immediately. I would strongly recommend using a local lawn service in your area vs such corporate entities, as to avoid the aforementioned problems and waste of money.

The worst possible scam around. They do horrible work and my lawn looks awful. I trusted these people and they truly let me down. They didn t do what they were hired to do, the people who work at the local office are super rude and not qualified to do this type of work. I paid in advance and they were very slow to come for the services and I had to call to remind them it was time. When they came here they hardly spent any time and did not do much of anything. I m better off going to the local hardware store and getting a weed and feed treatment than having these people not do anything.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced Specialists not showing up for scheduled applications, creating unsubstantiated reasons not to provide service, no consistency in personnel- 7 appointments by 7 different specialists No consistency in training or knowledge. I was ghosted several times after setting my day aside and cancelling important meetings . No respect for my time and all customer service reps working from home unable to review past notes or do anything to schedule or improve the situation. Do yourself a favor and buy a fogger and do it yourself. It will be a lot less time consuming or frustrating

This place is predatory. Since I was not satisfied with their service and they couldnt get an aerator in my backyard I called to cancel. They kept sending service guys out and billing me. Then I used online chat to cancel. Still sent people to my property. Called again and told them to not send anyone to my home, again they showed up. Im debating legal action because how do I keep them off my property? Call the police for trespassing?

Professional in the phone, however the technician who came to do the job, didnt do the whole job. I have weeds everywhere that are much bigger than they should considering the time called, from visit to one week after. Large weeds signifying they were not even touched. The entire back yard is a mess, and when I called to talk to them, they said the soonest they could get someone out is a week later. Im not going to pay money per visit if the visit isnt helping. They did the bulk of the front yard but still missed spots that were clearly there from the start. Ill change and update my review as the service improves or doesnt.

My yard was never so green!! No weeds!!

Clearly too big to care about a single residential house. Technicians spend minutes at the house and clearly do not cover the entire lawn, bushes and shrubs. My lawn is in much worse condition that it was 3 years ago when they took over. I cannot get to speak to someone from the branch that actually services my house with all calls going through to a service-call center. They were supposed to have called me back 10 days ago to set up a grass inspection to try and address the problems but I was never contacted. Really frustrated. Unfortunately, has become a mass market company with little care for each individual house.

They killed my lawn. Not much else to say. See the photos, they dont lie. When I called them on it they sent a guy out who blamed it on the summer heat, even though I followed their instructions and watered every other day as specified by my village. Ive since had another landscaper/lawn service companies come look at it and they both agreed that clearly the wrong chemical was applied; most likely by an inexperienced employee.

Reading the other reviews about lack of response to severe lawn problems , i have the same issue. Total lack of concern. Told twice my grass had leaf blight and I should water it and it would green up. Called Lake Forest office to have someone come and look at my damaged lawn and nobody showed up. My landscaper found Chinch bugs while aerating this week. My whole parkway grass is now dead. TruGreen s fault! I would give zero stars if I could

They walk around and dont do anything to the lawn and they still bill YOU. They will put a flag on your lawn saying to stay off it until the application dries. Even though my security cameras clearly shows no application was performed. The weak seeds they used never grew. I watched my neighbors lawn go from dried out to super thick and green. While my so called Profesional Tru Green just made it worse. My neighbors hire an independent landscaper. Tru Green is a waste of money.

This is the 3rd time I have cancelled Trugreen after two months. I still have clover in my front yard. You would think they could/would control the first place you see in your yard. 3rd time is charm I m done!

TERRIBLE! Unhappy with the service. We had lawn doctor last season and my husband switched it this year to save a buck. I knew once he did was a bad idea. Our grass looks terrible. It was so lush and green and lawn doctor took care of all the weeds when we bought this home. Once we changed over to tru green we got weeds popping up and tons of crab grass all over coming through. It s so ugly and just TERRIBLE!! Called yesterday to cancel and don t need them to come back and retreat it. They ve came 5 times already and all 5 I would ve think it would have taken cared of it by now. Tru green was a huge mistake. They also kept hounding us about mosquito treatment 4 times in a row. We kept declining and asked them to stop calling us. CANCELLED, TERMINATED OUR SERVICE ASAP!!! Biggest mistake to go with them. Called lawn doctor and started back up with them.

You call because there are still weeds in the lawn they tell you that they will spray again free to send out the same tech who doesn t do it right the first time so it never gets resolved. It only helps if you are at home to watch every thing they do. Do not trust them

This company is a fraud! They perform applications without telling you. I cancelled a tree service, they performed it anyway. I am now stuck with a $50 bill for a service I did not want. Customer service is both rude, and unhelpful. STAY AWAY!

Been using Trugreen for my lawn for years with very good results, so I figured they what be a good option for pest control. Wow, was I wrong! I called and got an estimate and declined because it was much higher than I wanted to pay. Within hours of declining I got another call and told them again it was too high. About an hour later, Jason from the Lake Forest office called and asked me what it would take to close a deal. I told him he would need to get me the Mosquito Defense Plus (plus gets fleas, ticks, spiders, etc.) and he talked to his manager and said done deal if I would pay for it all now, which I did. When the email confirmation came it only listed the Mosquito Defense, so I called Jason and he assured me I would get the Plus as well. I told him, I guess I ll have to trust you and he said absolutely. On Tuesday the next week they came for the first application and my wife was home and talked to the guy to verify we were getting both and he said no, there s nothing on the order saying you re getting the plus plan and as matter of fact it s a different crew for the plus. He told her he would follow up with the office and get back to her...guess no follow up call. I called and texted Jason and he said he would follow up and let me know what happened...two days later after no response from Jason (and still no response), I called and left him a not so nice message since no so surprisingly he didn t answer my call directly... he could have at least called me and fessed-up to the bad deal he made with me! I then called and cancel my order and got a refund...got the refund. It s been about a week and a half since the Mosquito Defense application and the skeeters in my yard are thick as thieves...not unlike Jason is suppose. After leaving a bag of leaves at my front door, they called to pitch me bug control. I made an offer they didnt like and laughed at me. When I asked to cancel my existing lawn service he hung up on me. I am moving to Lawn Doctor of Antioch who has a 4.9 rating.

My landscaper asked me to consult with Richard or Neal at the Lake Forest office. I would then, if satisfied they could address my particular problem, start an account. But if you dont have an account, Customer Service cannot send a message to these gentlemen for them to call me. There are no direct phone lines to a specific office. Very limited and inflexible.

Just Offices not a store

The gentlemen who serviced my lawn was great! He was polite and when I asked him to move my sons play toys/balls so that he wont miss a spot he did and was nice about it. Thank you, Cindy Porter

Recent Experience with TurGreen... The specialist did his services on our lawn. Our lawn is doing great too. The grass with the help of rain is doing wonderful. He answered any questions we may have had too.

Your specialist, 64354-Alan Espinoza, was out today to administer a lawn application, he is a credit to your organization. Alan addressed some problem areas with my lawn and could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Service of that quality is certainly noticed and much appreciated.

They give me a call to let me know they are coming and then leave a documented confirmation of the treatments made and observations of how the lawn looks. My lawn looks the best it ever has, and after four years of treatment, very satisfied with the service, keep up the great work.

Unreal. Asked on several occasions and have spoken to customer service to have a someone, even a supervisor, of the Lake Forest office call me regarding spray schedules. I have NOT received one call. Completely unacceptable.

After a year in a half and hundreds of dollars my grass is in worse shape since I hired trugreen. So disappointing.

Ive experienced terrible service over this season. First, They missed two months of applications during the summer. They did make up for it later in the season; however, it didnt help with the weeds when I needed it. Now, they treat a neighbors yard that is across the street and not even close to the same address for the last application instead of my house. Fortunately, my neighbor brought me the receipt that was left at his door. I would like to say that the lady I called in customer service was helpful and very pleasant. This will be the last year that I use TruGreen for my lawn care service.

Last week, I had what I thought would be my last service for the season. Upon arriving home a few hours after the service was completed, I inspected my property and I discovered that half of my back yard was neglected by the specialist (#53027). I called the TruGreen branch and they were understanding of my situation. A different specialist was scheduled for a second appointment to hit the areas that were missed. Today, Timothy B. (#68146) came to my home. He came to the door and I was lucky enough to be home at the time to speak to him about the yard. Tim reinforced my belief in the services provided by the company with his deep understanding and pride in what he does. The level of his customer service and the quality of his work was on full display while he was re-hitting my property. He is the reason why Ill continue to do business with TruGreen next season.

This was our first experience with TruGreen. We were sold a total package and promised some grass by the end of the season from overseeding and aeration, fertilization, and more. First service we got they only fertilized and grub control. We called customer service and find out everything their salesman told us was a lie and that they dont even seed or do the aeration till Fall which is not what we were told. If that was the case we would have just hired them in the fall. We ask to cancel the service and were told only a manager could refund our money. After 2 weeks and 4 phone calls, finally getting a manager. We were told we would get a full refund and he apologized up and down for the way we were handled in doing business. We were happy but then the refund came and we were shorted for the first service. Of course we call and have to talk to a manager who is not available and they will call us. I dont expect we will ever get a call. Worst experience ever with a company. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Their sales people are horrible and their customer service SUCKS!!!

Bis Issues with this company that sucks 1.- They burned all my yard 2.- The aeration they did, we were stole 3.- After the above we cancelled the contract 4.- three weeks later they showed arguing that we agree to a visit and they performed another treatment to the already BURNED yard and they charged me. When called thay wanted to put me throught a Service Manager to review my case. This company SUCKS. Please consider some other options out there. David Trevino

My lawns transformation from before TruGreen to 1 year after TrugGreen treatments continues to amaze me. I thought my lawn would never be rid of the creeping charlie because the surrounding lawns were also covered with it. Gone is the embarrassment of a shameful-looking lawn.

Will never use again. Missed second treatment 4 times. After 3 Rd treatment my weeds were worse, not better. And when I told them to skip one treatment because the second one was so late and give me refund they agreed and then forgot. Never honored agreement. And as I spent 4 weeks yelling at them for promising to come out and not showing up they kept trying g to up sell. Only way to get them to stop calling me to sell me new features was to take me off call list that also told me they were coming out to treat lawn. What a scam.

Ive been using them of over 10 years and in March I thought I was going to redo my backyard because of the damage done by my new dog. I called True Green and put my account on hold. Two weeks later I decided not to redo the lawn because the dog at this point would only damage it again. I called True Green and told the rep (you can never get the people who actually come out and do the work) that I wanted my service back. First the call center rep told me I had to wait for someone to come out and measure my yard to give me a quote. Sounded strange but I said okay. A week later, nothing happened, no visit , no call, no nothing. I called again and told the rep that between last Fall and this Spring my yard didnt get any bigger so why cant hey just reinstate my program. The call rep agreed with my logic and said okay shed turn it over to sales. That was two weeks ago and nothing. A day or so ago I put in a request for a call back and guess what? No call back. Terrible customer service and I can never talk to anyone in the Lake Forest office unless they call me wanting to sell me some other service. Im still waiting for a call but wont call the call center because they are unresponsive. I can see why theyre not very highly rated on Angies List (the recent rating is C mostly because of responsiveness vs. the highest, which is A).

TruGreen does a great job keeping my yard weed-free. If I ever do have issues, it is nice to know that TruGreen stands behind its products with great customer service.

The people that take care of our lawn are the best. I wouldnt want any one else. There that good. I give them highest grade.

My lawn always looks great and I get a lot of compliments from my neighbors. You can see the difference from both of my adjoining neighbors...one uses a different service and the other does his own.

The specialist is professional and friendly. In general my lawn is in good condition except for several bare spots. The specialist recommends creeping red fescue grass seed. I will try this and see if we can fix these bare spots.

The technicians are friendly and knowledgable.. They took time to explaine issues they see with my lawn and how best to treat them. After using TrueGreen for 1 season my lawn looked great and it continues to look great with their continued attention.

Chris, our technician is very good and knowledgeable. He visited our lawn today because of fertilizer burn from our last technician.

Since I have been using TruGreen my lawn stands out amongst my neighbors lawns. I am very pleased with the results. Green lawn and no weeds. Not to mention the expert level of customer service. TruGreen delivers on time, great follow-up, good customer relations.

My husband is normally home when TruGreen arrives and is very satisfied with the agent that performs the work. He is extremly friendly and gives excellant advise on how to care for the lawn. We have been very satisfied with the Service this year.

First the good parts: The folks who do the actual lawn care are friendly and care about what you think about their service. They make it a point to seek your feedback. Also the ladies that run the call center are concerned but wouldnt want their job. Why? See below. Management here is terrible. They will not respond to complaints, are not accessible, and cant live up to their promises. For the past week I have called 5 times trying to get someone other than the call center. Each time I have been told my complaint has been escalated and a manager will call that day or the next day. Still waiting for a call. Primary reason for my call was a missed appointment (didnt get a call about that either). When I called back in, appointment was rescheduled. That one was missed. Today I called and they rescheduled for tomorrow. What are the chances. In addition, treatment for my crabapple tree is late and now will not be effective although I have already paid for several treatments. I cant get management to call me, much less address these issues. They apparently just want my money and dont want to perform the services.

Sprayed lawn after service was canceled and then sent a bill for unauthorized service. The bill was only corrected after I threatened to call the police for trespassing.
