Tobias was very quick to respond to our initial inquiry and provided a quite reasonable proposal for an irrigation system installation and large tree planting project. They were on-site shortly thereafter and were among the most pleasant contractors to work with in memory. The job -- notwithstanding the rainy weather -- was accomplished expeditiously. I unreservedly recommend them to others and will happily employ them again when the need arises.

Toby and Patrick were wonderful to work with. Toby was great from the very beginning, with keeping me informed of when they would arrive. They did the job I asked them to do and more! We hired Tobias in the Spring to landscape the entire wooded lot around our home, plus the adjacent lot that lies between our house and the neighbors. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, but only had a vague idea. Now, just a couple of months later, it is a paradise, complete with trails between the trees and gardens and lovely focal points. He put in a "dry creek bed" and had an associate build a beautiful little bridge with a trellis over it. We also had him install an irrigation system making our lives much easier, and I can hardly wait until next summer when all the new perennials will burst into bloom. We are not completely finished, and will be hiring him to do a lot more in the future. Tobias has some "before & after" pictures that I'm sure he will post, and I'll be posting others as well. I can't recommend him highly enough. He and his helper, Patrick, are knowledgable, creative, fair, honest and trustworthy. I highly recommend them for any landscaping job, large or small.
Thank you Grass Roots for your swift action! My client needed some branches and debris removed from their property before we hit the market and grass roots came to the rescue! Simple call and text confirmation they came in and went over and beyond cleaning it up. No job to small they are on it! 💯 will continue to recommend them.

We have been more than pleasantly surprised once our overgrown plants have been trimmed and the overgrowth cut back, our yard now looks like it did 30 years ago. They really do amazing work and I highly recommend them, they work hard and the results are amazing. No lawn to mow just watch the new plants grow, it has been a delight seeing the yard take shape and all the hard work they have done.

Grass Roots does the landscaping for our business and we couldnt be happier. We get daily compliments on the state of our garden. We are constantly blown away by the flowers and greenery they add to our beds, and we literally have people coming in just to tell us how much they love it. The maintenance, thought, and care they put into our garden and greenery is incredible and I would not go with any other landscaper if you paid us to!

When we bought our house, there were quite a few hugely overgrown shrubs and a continual large puddle in our drive way. Tobias removed the shrubs we didnt want, sourced and planted new shrubs and remedied the standing water issue in our parking area. I had a boring backyard in desperate need of refreshing. The plan I had in mind would have taken me months of post-work digging and awkward Subaru haul-aways to accomplish. Tobias responded right away to my request for help and provided thoughtful suggestions which refined the design I had in mind. It took Tobias and Patrick just 3 days to accomplish what would have taken me an entire growing season to get done. And, it was done right! Pavers are squared up & level, new walkways are beautifully edged, all the old sod is gone and lovely top soil is ready for planting. The results look better than I hoped for and all credit goes to Grass Roots Lawn & Garden. Thanks, guys!

Toby is building a large rock retaining wall which includes drainage of a huge wet area. My collection of rocks is pretty random and rather difficult to fit, but he persists and it is looking great. Highly recommend he is great to work with.

Tobias and his crew have, over the last year, really worked to shape up our large and overplanted yard. We appreciate that they are not limited to just a mow, blow and go job. They remove or prune overgrown plants and take all the trimmings to recycle. It is wonderful to have their good ideas and strong young backs taking care of our place.

We were on vacation in La Conner recently during the snowstorm. The home we stayed at was on a hill and we were unable to drive out to the main road due to the snow and ice. Tobias and his crew came and dug through the snow and thick ice then treated the driveway. They came back two days later after more snow fell, shoveled and retreated the drive again. Tobias even picked up some chains I ordered at the local tire store in Burlington and delivered them to us. I was worried I still may have issues getting out and Tobias offerred to come and help us if needed on the day we left. Fortunately we got out without a hitch but we will forever be grateful to this kind man.
