BEWARE! This company is totally UNBELIEVEABLE. I made the big mistake of hiring them last year and still can't get rid of them. Attempted to cancel service numerous times but to no avail. They continued to charge my credit card even though no one had been there. Long story short, I finally filed a complaint with the BBB and finally got someone from LawnStarter to actually speak to. They agreed to give me a partial refund of the fraudulent charges on my credit card. I agreed to the lesser amount just to get rid of them. Today as I look was looking at my credit card statement to see if they had refunded me the money, to my surprise, there is NO refund yet, but there are ADDITIONAL CHARGES. This company is extremely shady. BEWARE!
I enjoy having a regular service but wish the crew could take more time. On the last mowing, I lost two of my heirloom tomato plants, mowed down.
Booked the first lawn mowing for the season to start on 4/13/2024. Pro no showed and no message by 4/15/2024. Called in to complain, was told they will put it out for reassignment. Same pro claimed assignment and rescheduled for 4/17/2024, claimed he could not complete original service due to "inclement weather" when it was sunny and clear. Same as before, no show/no call/ rescheduled 2 more times. Support agents apologized, offered a $15 discount, and said I could call in and dispute the long grass fee. Finally was informed the had limited pros for my area. Hired another service and had next day service, but due to grass height had to pay 3 times the fee. Will never use this company again. Edited for update: Today (May 3) My credit card was CHARGED FOR THE SERVICE I DID NOT RECEIVE ON THE LAWNSTARTER ACCOUNT THAT I HAD CLOSED.!!!!!!! Do not ever think of using this company.
I’ve been waiting for my LawnStarter crew to come mow my lawn for over two weeks now. They said their phone was ran over on Monday, and their trailer got a flat on Friday when they were on their way to my house, and at 9am this morning they were “headed my way shortly”. It’s 1:44 pm now, and they’re not messaging me back at all. I used them for 2 and 1/2 years with no issue until now. I guess the one guy that was professional quit. I’m so frustrated and disgusted! They’re a joke!
Absolutely terrible service! I used them for about 3 months at the beginning of this season (2022), first mow went fine. Then it was a constant loop of not showing up, rescheduling days later, getting notifications the work was done when it wasn't and getting charged for it, complaining to them, rescheduling again, AGAIN getting a charge for the mow that wasn't done, complaining AGAIN about the charge, getting a credit, they finally show up and mow, then get charged even though I had a credit for the mow that was never done. Then they had the audacity to try and get me to pay $30.00 to trim an tiny hedge next to my porch! My final straw was they were scheduled for Thursday, didn't show, got a notification on Friday they would definitely be here Saturday, never showed, so my grandson that was visiting from out of town cut it for me on Sunday. I got a notification and pictures on Monday that my yard was mowed with a charge for the mow! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE SERVICE! Avoid them like the plague!
Oh it's a sleek, modern service with an app! This is going to make getting my lawn mowed so convenient, hassle-free and eliminate the need for social interaction! And it's cheap! If you're having any of the above thoughts in regards to Lawnstarter, stop yourself as that dream doesn't exist. This service is complete garbage, and you're going to be better off in the long run putting in a little extra effort to find a different local lawn provider. Last season this service initially matched me with 3 or 4 lawn providers, all terrible for various reasons. Bad communication, bad scheduling, equipment breakdowns (twice in 1 visit!), you name it. Eventually I got matched with what I thought was a good one and had a relaxing rest of the season. Cut to this season. Same provider, grass hasn't changed, yet they start charging Long Grass fees. I admit my grass grows fast and gets a little long, but they were applying the fee even in cases it was due to them needing to reschedule. Long Grass fee = 100% of the cost per mow = cheap service gets expensive fast. I stopped tipping the provider as a result, who in-turn dropped me as a result. That's fine, we're probably both better off for it. But what is for certain is that you will be better off for avoiding Lawnstarter all together.
It’s been over two weeks of dealing with this company and my grass still isn’t mowed. I downloaded lawnstarter over two weeks ago in an attempt to get my lawn taken care of. They told me they would send someone out on the 6th. Apparently the pro they were going to send rescheduled to the 8th without letting me know, then canceled. When I reached out to Lawnstarter to ask what was going on, they then said they’d be sending someone out on the 12th, and that I may be charged a fee for the length of my grass (which wouldn’t be an issue if they had someone come out in the first place.) I informed them I wouldn’t be paying a fee and Danielle (who deserves a raise or a better job) sent me a $15 credit to take care of it and told me that the fee would be credited back to my account if it was charged. Cool, no problem. Fast forward to last night when I received a notification to rate my lawn because the pro had finished the job, but no one had been out and my account was billed. I reached out to the service pro who informed me he would be here Monday and then to Lawnstarter to see why I was charged for a job that hadn’t been completed. They informed me they would be reaching out to the pro and may have to reschedule my service AGAIN. This entire thing has been a headache and I’ve decided to go back to reaching out to lawn care professionals directly in order to take care of my lawn. Take my advice. Cut out the middle man because this company seems to be hassling not only it’s customers but the service providers that work for them as far as the way they pay them goes. Just avoid the headache.
Started using this company in June & since then it has been issue after issue with getting our lawn mowed. Whoever the “pros” are that they contract out are NOT dependable & don’t do the job they are suppose to when they come out to my home. Asked 3 times for a quote in having extra work done & the team never showed up or even remembered to give a quote when they came out for service when they finally did show up. In just over a month there have been 3 “pros” come out to mow my lawn & the last 2 have had multiple issues showing up & even when they don’t show up we get charged! Recently changed to just mowing the front yard because NONE of them have equipment to fit in my back gate to mow my backyard & was charged $63 to mow just the front yard that took them all of 10 minutes maybe even less! I do NOT recommend & will absolutely be taking my business elsewhere!

Ernest has been taking care of our yard for about 2 years now. Hes always done a great job. He communicates with us if he cant make on a particular day bc of the weather. We are quiet satisfied.
Danny is great. Found a replacement package delivered (by FedEx for the second time) at the end of my driveway and brought it to my door. Went above and beyond. Does a great job with your yard and cleans up!

I ve been happy with Joseph here in Knoxville. He s been responsive and always messages me when the weather interferes. I like that I can use the app to order services, communicate, leave a tip and pay.

Beautiful job cutting, trimming, edging and cleanup. Always get a notice when the grass will be cut or if there is a weather delay. The professional equipment completes the job in short order.
I just started using LawnStarter Lawn Care last month and so far they have been Outstanding! They set a schedule and stick to it. If they cant make it for the next service you are notified well in advance. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing any type of lawn care!
Very poor service. 3 appointment minimum locks you into 3 times they can screw you over. First appointment while I was out of town, only half the yard was mowed. Multiple appointments were marked as completed when nobody had showed up at all, and at least one appointment was cancelled due to inclement weather on a sunny day. In a month of service, the job was only completed once.

They clearly state that the first service is $20, but what they don t tell you is they actually charge you $29.99 for the service plus a height charge of $44.00 which they do not inform you of when you are giving your information and a trust fee of $1.99. 100% false advertisement!

Very annoying call to get started. I called asking for a quote on mowing services and fixing a couple of dead spots. They required a set up of 3 mowing sessions to come look at my lawn and determine cost of the dead spot fixes.
Delay after delay use a different service.
Do not and I repeat do NOT use this service. They make you pay for services not being used. They will not allow you to decline service even when the season has changed and there s no GRASS TO CUT. They will charge you $80 just because your card is on file. They do not care that you have canceled or attempted to cancel service. Do not use lawn starters
Awful company. They took us all the way through the enrollment and we provided all of our information and even scheduled our first cut then we get an EMAIL that they can t provide us service in our area. A phone call at least would have been nice!!!! Bad business and would not recommend to anyone. If they were not able to service our address then they should have said that instead of scheduling our first cut.

You never know what you will be charged. What I was quoted for my weekly service was never what i was charged. My charges could vary between $23 and $52 for no reason I could fathom. I would get long grass charges when the crew came less than a week ago. They never cleaned up after themselves and left branches everywhere. Absolutely not worth it.

Price I was initially quoted is what I am always charged. The same crew seems to come every two weeks. They are fast, efficient, and do a good job. Finally paying someone else to cut my lawn is one of the best decisions Ive made as a homeowner.
This crew is great!! They do a good job mowing and always alert me if there is an issue with the lawn schedule. They have on line scheduling and messaging, which I find very convenient!! Have used them for 2 years and will continue to use them next season!
I contacted Lawn Services to mow our front and side lawn. Half of the front and the side yard is covered in leaves from the fall. There was no grass to actually cut in those areas. The front grass was approximately an area 10-15x60. The person I spoke with ask if the grass was over 6 inches tall. I told her it was. She never told me I would be charged double. She only told me they only ask that we let them mow 3 times. I didn t have a problem with that. They ended up charging me $66.80 to mow this small area. They get your credit card information up front so you don t know until after they run your card what they cheated you out of. They are dishonest. I do not recommend anyone using them.

Tried to get them on my property for a week and they blew it off 3 times, and then said they wouldnt waive the long grass fee when I was told my appointment would be on day 2. Terrible customer service.
These guys were awesome. They rescheduled my appointment and were able to knock out my lawn before the rain storms last week. Great communication and customer service. I would highly recommend.
This year I was looking for a new lawn service because my lawn care service I had been using previously retired. After doing my research lawnstarter came highly recommended and I really loved I could schedule in an app. My first mow (on April 8) was uneventful, crew was professional and nice and did a great job. But that was the only time my lawn has been mowed. The next mow was scheduled between April 19 and April 21. On April 20 my boyfriend came home to the front lawn mowed and the gate to our back yard completely broken and the latch bent backward. I also got an email that day saying our crew had to cancel and they were looking for a new crew . All I can figure is instead of just fessing up to breaking my gate latch (maybe a $30 fix, not a huge deal, things happen) they just cancelled the mow and left. I was out of the country for work the next few days and I had trusted LawnStarter would get back to me. But by Thursday morning my lawn still hadn t been mowed so I called and spoke to Janice, who was very kind and professional and ensured me they would help with my gate and a crew would be at my home by Monday. I explained the situation that now my lawn was a week late being mowed and if they could get someone there before the weekend and I was hosting a party that weekend. She put a rush and ensured me the lawn would be mowed either that day or the next. I got home from my business trip and lo and behold my lawn STILL isn t mowed. I had to relocate the party I was hosting over the weekend and, still giving them the benefit of the doubt, assumed it would be done on Monday (yesterday) but it still isn t mowed. To add insult to injury I received an email this morning saying that my lawn had been rescheduled to tomorrow because another customer needed to reschedule; as well as an email asking for proof that the crew that broke my gate latch came to my house, which I don t have other than the context clues that one lawn was mowed and the other not and my gate was broken. Incredibly unacceptable way to do business.
