Absolutely fabulous service! Sam walked us through the process the whole time and was so patient and understand when we had delays come up before being able to start our project. They did fantastic work repairing a two level retaining wall and helping re-landscape our front yard. We are already planning more projects with them for our back yard. They were well priced and extremely professional to work with.

Sam went above and beyond to fix issues with the home that he uncovered as part of a driveway expansion. He took care of it professionally and was always willing to collaborate and adjust to all my needs as a homeowner. At the same time, he prices jobs fairly and communicates promptly, you’ll definitely get a job well finished with Sam!
They added mulch and my front and side flower beds. The work is nice but they left a bunch of mulch in my yard and did not clean this up. After the work was “complete”, Sam sent me a Cash app bill, did not follow up with me and did not ask if I was happy with the work. I paid the bill but told Sam that I was concerned about all the mulch left in my yard. Sam said they would come out the following Tuesday. He had a worker come out and they used a blower and just blew the debris into my neighbor’s yard. I called Sam and complained about this and he said they would come out the following morning. They did not come out and I haven’t heard from them since… Sam, we were considering doing more work with your company for our backyard but we will take our business elsewhere.
I cannot recommend Sam Smith Landscaping. Do yourself a favor and search all reviews of this company, not just the sanitized reviews on their website. We made that mistake by only seeing the reviews on the website. We contacted Sam Smith Landscaping (SSL) to build a retaining wall. Sam came out and looked at our property and within a day or so gave us an estimate. He called back later and suggested that we should have him add steps to the project to enhance the look. We accepted his second estimate which included the steps and paid 50% deposit. Work started Thursday 3/7/2024. Sam got his two-man crew started and apologized that he had to go out of town for a few days, but he assured us that his crew was very capable for the job. On Friday morning I pointed out to the lead man that the wall was crooked and not level. I explained to the lead man that the wall should be fixed now before it is complete. That would be less work. The lead man called Sam, and on a speaker, I explained the situation. Sam told the worker to fix the wall. The wall was not fixed. End of day Saturday 3/9/2024 this is what the project looked like. The wall is still crooked and not level, and the steps were at the same height as the wall. Sam shows up Monday morning 3/14/2024 with his crew and we have a talk about the project. I asked him if he was pleased with the project and if this is how he had envisioned the project. He said no and that they will fix it. All day long on Monday Sam was belittling his lead man in front of me to the point it was very uncomfortable. Not professional at all. By end of the day Tuesday 3/12/2024 Sam had emailed a revised bill for their work as they have almost completed the job. The invoice was $1900 more than was agreed to. Sam explained that they used 20 more “Blocked Wall” and 52 more “Cap Block” than was estimated. Sam also explained that he provided for “free” 5 bales of pine straw (which I did not asked for), polymeric sand (which is used to help join the pavers) and moving the dirt pile that they made in putting in the steps (they placed the dirt not where we asked them to). We negotiated a slightly lower price, and when they had completed the job, paid the lower price. Judge for yourselves. As you can see from the pictures, the wall is still crooked, the stairs are at different heights, some landing leans toward the house, some lean away from the house. The wall is not level, and there is a hole near the top. I wished that we would have used another contractor. If you want an estimate that is vague and doesn’t define the scope of work, a crew that is untrained/unskilled, an owner who belittles his employees in front of customers, an invoice for $1900 more than estimated, and shotty work, then Sam Smith Landscaping is your go to.
On May 4, 2023, I reached out to Sam (text, via his cell number) to give me a bid on placing zoysia zenn sod over unwanted bermuda and dead spots in my front yard. I gave the same bid opportunity to another local landscape service provider. Both companies gave me their bid and Sam's was the most reasonable. We made arrangements for a work day on June 2. Sam asked if I could pay half in advance. Personal experience and Clark Howard advise against it, so I said no. Sam understood. He and 2 crew members came on the expected date and started the job. However one of his crew needed a ride to a Dr appointment, so Sam took him. Cristian, Sam's friendly able-bodied crew member spread the remaining dirt and sod. Unfortunately, not all the needed sod was on-site. Sam promised to bring it this weekend. I didn't expect him to do so yesterday (Friday), but when I came home from an all day event, I discovered to my delight that the job was done! The sod placement was exactly where I needed it (see my photo). Sam and team are a capable group. I recommend them for your jobs.
I started my retaining wall with someone who tried to help me but does not dedicate to do this type of job, for did not know how to do it properly and did not had the needed tools. I had to stopped the project and looked for a specialist and Sam appeared. He was very helpful. He helped me and was just on the price, he counted and deducted the materials I had already bought and got delivered to my property and he and his team did the rest, they did an amazing job. They built a retaining wall in front of my house with 2 levels or tiers. They fixed my drainage and filled with dirt so that we could plant later on. I will definitely contact him for anything I would like to do at home. And I am planning on filling the area with plants with him, hopefully soon.

We can 100% recommend Sam Smith Landscaping! A previous landscaper had constructed a huge retaining wall on the side of out home. It went a few feet into our neighbors yard. We had to attend court-mandated mediation and we agreed to have the wall moved in 30 days. The previous landscaper said he would fix it but never showed up. We contacted Sam Smith Landscaping since we had to comply with mediation and were running out of time. Sam showed up when he said he would, assessed the situation and had the entire wall moved in a few days. He fixed everything that both we and our neighbor asked him to, on time and at a good price. He and his team were very professional and we are grateful for the excellent work they did. I highly recommend Sam Smith Landscaping. They did GREAT work!

We used this company to lay down pine straw in a large naturalized area and to lay down sod in our back yard, and in the front over an area where some tree stumps had been ground down. Sam was very responsive and showed up when he said he would. He had some excellent suggestions on a better way to do our yard and increase the curb appeal. We paid a very competitive rate for the work he did. I would highly recommend this company for any landscaping needs you have.

I had an appointment on a Thursday. They first tried to charge me for services I didn t request. Once we discussed what in fact we needed they told me the service would be rendered on Friday. They never showed, I called Saturday and no answer. Someone called me back on Sunday and said his people were tired and left for the day and would surely be there Monday. No show. I received a call Tuesday morning that they would be by that day, I was second on the list. Tuesday evening I received a text that it would be Wednesday. After a week of run around I decided to hire someone who cared about their customers.

My wife and I had a vision for our property and Sam made it manifest! We wanted a space where our children could play and we could entertain guest in privacy. Sam provided a privacy fence, ground leveling, sod installation, masonry work and follow-up upkeep with 5 STAR service! Our property had gained value because of the work he put in to make our dream backyard a reality! Sam did an amazing job not only on my yard but on my whole house! He completely redid my yard with sod, planting plants, removing trees, put mulch and pine straw where needed so things would flow and the colors would pop, he out did himself! He also painted the outside of my home, replaced rotted trim and siding where needed, replaced almost my whole back deck (upstairs and down) and stained them. My house looks so good, neighbors tell me all the time what a great job they did and even some have hired him to do work for them! Sam went above and beyond when it came to making my home beautiful and have so much curb appeal! I highly recommend Sam for your next project! We will be using him again soon to redo my fire pit and put in a stone walk way leading to it! He also does regular upkeep on yards and has my business for the foreseeable future, super grateful I came across him on google!! Wish I could upload pictures to show his work!!

I called these guys looking for a quick trim and clean up on some hedge bushes and rose bushes. They swung by later that afternoon. Trimmed it all up, cleaned everything up, and it looks great. Thanks. Part 2: I had a major removal project where we took out about 30 Holly Bushes and trees. Everything was ground up and removed. They put down pine straw and seeded it all. It really is a new yard. They also quoted over $1,000 lower than other landscapers I quoted. So, I got great service and an amazing rate. I will continue to use them for all my landscaping needs.
We recently hired Sam and his crew to help us remedy a drainage issue between our house and our neighbors. Sam and his crew did a great job! They installed a drain with 4 pipe, a sock pipe (to absorb moisture in surrounding area), and tied in our down spouts and HVAC drain so it would all drain to the road. We got some serious rain a few days later and Sam called to ask if he could stop by to make sure everything was draining as it should. While here (in the rain) he and one of his guys realized there was a slight issue with the water getting to the drain so they got out their shovels and got to work. I totally wasn t expecting that, but by the time they left everything was right. They even added some more sod in a few bare spots around another area of work we d recently had done (by a different company). These guys went above and beyond and were great to work with. I would definitely recommend them in you re looking for landscape work!!
Would not recommend Sam Smith. We hired Sam to assist with an erosion problem in our back yard. To his credit he did stop the erosion by ensuring we had standing water. Sam also showed no regard for homeowner property. This job required fill, which Sam put on an unprotected driveway. He then moved that load of fill using a machine that caused damage and spread unwanted rock and debris in the front and side yards. We will have to buy and put in new sod to fix this issue as well. I have attempted to work with Sam to correct these on 7 separate occasions starting in October, but continually he has neglected to follow up and when a reply would come the response was always that he would schedule, but never did. We were left with such a mess that we had to hire a new company to come in and fix the issues caused by Sam s haste. Sam sold us saying that we would have a six month warranty, but as we approach that mark and too many attempts trying to work with Sam to follow-up and fix his work we were left with no choice but to hire a reputable company to do just that .. fix the work that we paid Sam to do. Overall, we have been nothing short of disappointed in our decision to hire Sam Smith Landscaping and would encourage others to find any other option.

Sam Smith is one of the best landscapers i have ever hired. I hired Sam to do the weekly maintenance on my yard butbi also hired him to remove some trees and create some flower beds and he did a fantastic job. He replaced a retaining wall and dumped all the old cross ties (14) on the other side of my fence. I paid for removal. My phone calls and text messages go unanswered. I am furious.
Yes, the lawn was nicely maintained, but Sam was rude on several occasions. He just stopped coming one day with no notice. Does anyone know a dependable landscaper?

Called them last fall to give an estimate on some seasonal yard maintenance, mulching, etc. The young man they sent out came about 4:30 one day, couldnt answer any questions, and said hed have to check with the people in the office that knew about pricing. He said they would call the next day. Never heard from them again. Would not recommend.

I used Sam Smith Landscaping for my front lawn. The place was a complete mess, huge tree roots all over, rocks, and uneven ground. These guys worked all day and landscaped my yard so that it was even and even rearranged my rocks to make it look like my yard was designed. I have never had such a great experience with a landscaping company. I highly recommend these people. They re so nice, flexible, and the results are amazing. Will definitely use them again.

Sam Smith Landscaping exceeded expectations. I was quoted a very competitive rate for refreshing pine straw in both my front and back yard. Not only did the crew spend hours removing weeds to prep the area, they ended up putting down pine straw around the entire house! I was very impressed with their dedication to complete the work.
Sams did an absolutely amazing job on my yard!! It was a royal mess....the front and the back!! I was getting ready to put my rental house on the market and the yard needed a major clean up. The gentleman that performed the work (Drew and John), were punctual, professional, and did everything they promised and then some! They laid more pinestraw, planted flowers, and hauled away a patio full of pots, whiskey barrels, dead plants, and lots of junk. I am very impressed and will highly recommend their service to anyone.

Mr. Robert from Sam Smith Landscaping did an amazing job on my lawn and hedges. It was a last minute arrangement but Mr. Robert arrived in less than an hour. I would reccomend this crew to anyone.
I hired this contractor to perform landscaping at my home, he was hired to do work in the front and the rear. The work in the front turned out to be quite nice, however the work in the rear of my home turned out horrible. The contractor was suppose to clear an area in the back of my home and spread pine straw....instead of clearing the area he cut a few plants and spreaded pinestraw he even left the orange string that goes around the pinestraw in my yard Long story short, the area was definitely not cleaned up and excessive weeds can been seen throughout the pinestraw the area looked the same as before-he laid the pinestraw- he literally just added pinestaw. I was not home when my husband made the final payment he advised that the contractor stated he would return and spray for the weeds and of course contactor did not. He said he felt the contractor was a fair guy ! Anyhow I always believe in working with a firm first in regards to performance issues. So, I contacted the contractor regarding the issues a total of four times over four weeks and contractor has been unresponsive. prior to final payment he was definitely responsive. I am giving him 2 1/2 stars giving the work in my front yard turned out nice and I do know the contractor has the capabilities to do the work, but I did gather that he may not have the capacity for additional work. However my overall review of his performance is as follows: Schedule was ok their was some slippage but most slippage was due to weather other slippage cant be explained , the contractor was unresponsive, work performance in r rear was horrible (see pics attached), and I would not recommend the contractor for any work. Also, please look this Contractor up on the Better Business Bureau site and yelp his reviews are not good.
