I was in awe at how well he was able to maneuver the chainsaw up in the air given the position of the trees. It is no easy job that these guys are doing, but they do it well!

Our lot was totally overtaken by bamboo. Mr Chuck was the only co that we called who offered a complete removal plan and installation of a barrier. He had the equipment and staff to dig the bamboo up completely. He carried out everything in a efficient and timely manner. We were very happy with the result.

RE: Bamboo > Save yourself money, time, and frustration by calling Columbia Tree & Lawn Service to get rid of bamboo. Bamboo took over my neighbors backyard here in Bowie MD and it started coming into my yard. So I went online and had 8 or 9 vendors recommended by well-known internet websites call/email within a day or so. I had most of them come by. They talked a good game, their prices were suspiciously low, and not one of them had a plan to deal with the bamboo roots (called rhizomes). These roots can be 2 feet down and reach out 15 feet or more from the nearest stalk of bamboo (miss 1 root and it all grows back). So I gave up on the internet referrals and hired Chuck at CT&LS. His references checked out and he was the only guy who had actual working knowledge of bamboo. The really nice thing was that when the work was underway I wandered outside to look and Chuck took time to explain exactly what he was doing and how he was ferreting out the bamboo roots with his big digging machine. Only then did it dawn on me that if I hired one of the internet referrals I would have spent THOUSANDS and made the bamboo problem WORSE. It s been a year and I m overjoyed with the results. So I told Chuck to have any customer who is on the fence about hiring him or who thinks his price is too high to contact me so I can invite them to look at my backyard and then across the fence at the bamboo still growing in my neighbor s yard (they got a lower price from some other company last year).

Update (after business response): I never said that I had an issue or was frustrated with doing business your company, a small business. As I stated in my response to your tree referral email, my husband and his family have also been running a small business for years and I myself own a small business in the culinary industry so I totally understand the constraints when you have to do everything yourself as a small business owner. Kindly do not portray me as being against small businesses as I never said or expressed that. I am happy to do business with anyone (small, medium or big). How did you get the impression that I was not happy with your company when we discussed possible dates and you were to contact your guy to confirm that the work could be completed within a week as stated on estimate visit? Your tone and attitude changed towards me when I provided feedback. Your response below portrays me as an individual who has issues with working with a small business and I do not appreciate that. Original Post: We were super excited to work with CT&LS for tree trimming, cutting as well as redoing the bushes in our front yard. The consultation visit was amazing and was blown away at how knowledgeable they were and the recommendations for spruce up our backyard and the front of the house. I was given a few suggestions on what type of plants/bushes would be ideal for our home, especially to prevent deer damage in the upcoming fall seasons. We were given a proposal that met our needs and were ready to move forward. Being the negotiator that I am, I contacted the office the next day to inquire about any coupons or offers available for the services outlined in the proposal. It took over a week of back and forth, late in the evenings over phone calls and emails to get an answer from Lisa, who seemed to be the only person I could speak to in regards to move forward with CT&LS. We finally speak this evening over the phone and I start the conversation with saying that we are happy to move forward with them to get the work done. She confirms that there is a 10% coupon available for use which I responded was great! She also stated that no one would be available to come out and do the work until July 2nd or the 12th (cant remember precisely) contrary to what I was told (1 week). I also kindly and respectfully provided some feedback in terms of perhaps improving communication with prospective clients as I did not understand why I could only speak to someone in the evenings as I wanted to get the work started and was excited to go shopping at Meadows Farms as recommended by the guy who came by for the estimate. Lisa explained that they were a small family owned business, which had been operating for 30 years. I was impressed. She continued to add that she was a government worker and could only attend to calls/emails in the evening after work. She continues by adding that she would totally understand if we decided to move forward with someone else and I told her that my comments were not ill intended and didnt mean to offend her and that as I mentioned in the beginning of the call, we were happy to move forward with them. I think she took offense to my comments and added we could not be a good fit to do business with their company. She then proceeded to hang up the phone on me. This literally just happened about 15 minutes ago and I am still in shock. I did not mean to offend anyone at CT&LS and was just providing some feedback based on my experience with them so far. After she explained why it was so, it all made sense. And she also provided more information on who could possibly get it done within 1 week and would reach out to him for further information. I do not understand how the call ended with Lisa with CT&LS, hanging up the phone on me when I was very pleased with the consultation visit and excited for them to assist with our little project. Again, I am still in shock that Lisa hung up the phone on me.

We hired these guys for a huge bamboo removal job consisting of 11 years of overgrowth that came from a nearby neighbors yard. I battled this stuff for 11 years and had no freaking clue how badly I was losing until Chuck came in with his machinery and started pulling up all the massive roots of this devil plant. These guys are amazing, they made quick work of our yard, including the root removal and hand digging some of the roots up, even the ones that had spread into our front yard, they installed bamboo barrier so it will never return, replaced all the dirt in our yard and seeded, fertilized, and strawed it; and they managed to do all this in a week. It is incredible to look out my window to an actual yard and not a bamboo forest. I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone and will be calling them for any other yard work I need. They also beat the competitors pricing by a grand, and I am pretty sure they did not have as solid of a plan as Chuck, and they probably wouldve given up at some points in the job when it became more of an archeological dig and less of bamboo removal. Seriously these guys are the best!

Based on responsiveness, this companys customer service is non-existent. I have called multiple times and I always get the recording. They must not be in need of clients. There are many other tree service companies but just thought Id pass on that not answering the phone is a sure way to hand over customers to your competitors.

Chuck called me quickly and gave a price that was reasonable for a crew of five to completely remove two very large trees from a hard to reach fenced yard. The site was neat and clean when they left. Easy Peazy for me. I recommend.

I had several dogwoods that were getting out of hand. As a teacher, I have little time to play phone tag with people. I left a message and my call was returned back to me within my time frame, which was appreciated. I scheduled a time for them to come while I was at work. When I came home my my trees were trimmed and beyond my expectations. They looked beautiful. Highly recommend.

Yesterday: As always, Chuck and his crew delivers great work in a super impressive manner. Under the rain, and with stormy winds they came and completed all the items they came to work on: stumps removal, retaining wall, patio fixes, fence fixes and all done in 1 day. Columbia Tree and Lawn Service has helped us 3 or 4 different times with trees and yard work, always in a very professional way and for very reasonable prices. We had quite a bit of work done (tree and stump removal, landscaping, buried down spouts, etc.). Chuck and his team did a great job addressing all aspects of the project and worked with me to address any areas of concern. This is a hard working crew that takes their work seriously. Ive used Columbia tree on three different occasions over the last year and a half to cut trees down. They were the lowest price and did a great job every time. They also did additional work outside of the original scope. Plan on using them again.

Chuck and his crew did an amazing job clearing trees, brush and grinding over 20 stumps in our yard. They arrived on time, were very hard working and took care with all aspects of the job. They filled all the holes with topsoil, seeded and covered with straw. Would highly recommend using this local family run business.

Columbia Tree & Lawn Service took down a huge maple tree for us. The stump took several hours to grind. The tree was down quickly and not a single branch fell to damage our deck, our house or the neighbors house within reach of this tree. Great job!!

My job was scheduled for 8:00-10:00am. As of 10:04 this morning, the time that I posted my review, NOBODY from your company called or emailed me. You claim your tech knocked on the door. I received a text message from him at 10:51am, in which he notified me that the estimate was in my mailbox. I was awake at 8:00am and never heard a knock on my door. Plus, I have a DOORBELL which was never rung (and I tested it to be sure that it does work). I received your email at 11:00am and your text at 6:19pm. Because you guys did communicate with me after I posted my original message (though still late), I am giving you back two stars. However, I still stand by what I said, as the customer service still could have been better. You said this was just an estimate. However, even if I am only asking for an estimate, I expect to have a conversation with the tech. I would have also expected him to survey the area and let me know if there was anything else your company could have done to help. Yes, that is going above and beyond, but that is what I expect before I give five stars. Plus, doing so benefits your company, because you could have up-sold me and essentially made more business beyond what I originally asked. I gave three now, because you did make an effort after the fact, but still your tech was late and could have communicated better. Also - just to be clear - I do practice social distancing, so we still could have safely had this conversation. Regarding what I said about the reviews, I did not outright accuse anyone of anything, but still I have deleted that portion of my post. I wish no ill will toward your company, but I stated the facts and stand by them. Thank you, and I wish you all the best. My original post: I scheduled a job 9 days in advance with this company. They never showed up after setting a time

I had Columbia Tree and Lawn come out to take down a tree that was dropping branches on my yard (nearly hitting me) and was a danger to my house. They did a fantastic job. They were professional and polite, placed the wood that I will use as fire wood exactly as I instructed, and cleaned up the yard afterwards. They even cleaned the debris that they did not cause, my yard looks great! I am extremely satisfied with their work and would recommend them to anyone I know.

The crew came in and promptly took down 4 trees. 2 trees were close to my house. Professionally done.

They didnt show up. I had an appointment window from 12 to 2 for an estimate. By 1:50 no one had contacted me so I called the office. They gave me the number for their guy on the field so I could text him. I texted but didnt hear back.

Really great job all around from the bidding process to the actual work. I had a couple trees cut down and surface roots ground out in backyard. They are fair and reasonably priced and did a fantastic job. I will be a return customer and highly recommend them.

Its very seldom in life that you truly get what you pay for, but we had #columbiatree&lawnservice here yesterday and when they were done, I couldnt find a twig or leaf that they left behind. I highly recommend Columbia Tree & Lawn Service to anyone needing their skillset!! It DID take over a month for them to get to me because theyre in very high demand, BUT the wait was well worth it. I wish I had some BEFORE pics, but I (in my old age) forgot to take some. These guys are worth the wait AND the $$$!!! A few pics are posted on #Nextdoor app.

This is a great company that provides excellent service. We had a lot of trees that needed to be removed and an old tree stump left by a previous company who said they could not remove it. Chuck and his team showed up early in the morning and got to work. When they were done, they cleaned the entire yard. The front of the house looked like nobody had even been there! Great job! I look forward to working with them again in the future and highly recommend them.

They were great! They came out for an estimate on some unexpected leaning trees. Initially, they said they wouldnt be able to put us on the schedule for a couple weeks, but when we expressed concern about how quickly the trees started leaning, they booked us in the schedule the next day. They were in and out in half a day.

I called Chuck in a panic after several large branches from an extremely overgrown Pinetree slammed into the roof right above where my son was sleeping. He quickly arrive to my house even in sanely fair estimate and within just a few hours the deathtrap pine tree has been taken down. His group worked so clean and so, did I mention it was freezing rain the entire time? I really hope my community continues to use chalk in the future as his work was exceptional and his customer service was even better!

I dont write many reviews, only if I am very, very happy with the work or to warn people of very bad work. I just got a large amount of work done by Columbia tree and lawnservice. They did an exceptional job from start to finish. Its as if my lawn got a beautiful makeover. The owner Charles is onsite working with his very skilled crew. Charles or Chuck explained why they did work a certain way and he is happy to talk about any questions you have. Charles even shopped for a certain kind of tree later into the evening, he came back with a whole truck full of trees his customers wanted. Columbia tree & lawnservice is a breath of fresh air in this busy world. I will definitely call them again and be happy to do it. Very well run small company that take the time to please their customers.

1/2 of the crew showed up, then left and rescheduled. 2nd appointment one guy showed up, then left 10 minutes later. Got a call from the owner/supervisor saying he was going to walk away from the job. wouldnt give an explanation and hung up. We just had a storm so they probably got jobs for quicker money. Awful company, do not use!!!!!

I obtained an estimate from this company, I received a contract and it was signed. After two occasions when only a few of his crew showed up, Chuck called me to say they were not going to do the job. I feel they are very unprofessional though I must say that I am glad in the end they did not do the work as I was able to have a professional and skillful company complete it

Columbia Tree was recommended to me by a company repairing my deer fence. We called them and couldnt be happier that we did! Chuck came out and gave us a fair estimate, then showed up as promised and did an outstanding job. There was a lot of work to be done including removing several dead or dying trees and pruning other mature (ie large) ones. I was most impressed by how each member of his crew had specific tasks and went about his work efficiently. As they worked they cleaned up everything and before leaving cleaned our entire yard! I highly recommend them.

Columbia Tree & Lawn Service just did some lanscaping for our townhouse and they did an excellent job!!!!! They pulled out three big juniper bushes and installed a raised bed and a low stone wall. They did they whole thing in one day and did a great and professional job.

A storm brought down one of our 50+ foot pines into our neighbors yard and, 24 hours later, David and his crew had made it disappear. This is the second time we ve used Columbia Tree and Lawn and have been very happy each time. They do what they promise, don t over charge and are very professional.

I called to get a tree that was leaning up against my house removed. From initial phone call to showing up at my house was approximately 30-45 minutes. The job was done quickly and efficiently. Would definitely use them again!

Ive been using Chuck for 8 years to drop trees and grind stumps. He always comes out the Saturday right after we call to give a free estimate. He shows up with his crew on the appointed time and does exactly what he quotes to you. I find his prices to be fair for the work that he does. Hes always on-site when the work is being done too. Ive recommended him to friends of ours, and hes my first and only call when I need tree services. As a side note, he might be one of the funniest dudes Ive ever met.

We have never been more pleased with ANY service weve received!! Chuck sat with us for a good amount of time (after a long day for him) during the estimate and kept us laughing. He promised my wife what I thought was an unrealistic time frame but he kept that promise and had our six trees (one very precariously leaning over our house) down AHEAD of schedule. Lisa was great to talk to on the phone and had the insurance paperwork to us in a timely manner and Chuck and his crew were as polite and kid friendly as they possibly could be. Chuck even took the time to hang a swing for the kids from one of the tall oaks and when they kids couldnt get on it, he brought a little stump over so they could use that to mount the swing. I say this with all sincerity, I feel like Chuck is now part of the family. All of this and they TROUNCED the competition on the price (we had 6 estimates). My wife and I are both educators and both my grandfathers were self-employed and Columbia Tree and Lawn Service brings old time values to their business - friendly, courteous, reliable, and inexpensive. Extremely reliable

We had a tree taken down in the froont yard. We live in the city.They took great care to protect the sidewalk the tree had to drop on . They were so professoinal it was a pleasure to watch They worked into the night with bright lighting, to be compleatly cleaned up for morning traffic Licenced and insured was important to us. I would surely recommend them or have them back .

This was our first year using Columbia Tree & Lawn Services for the annual trimming of the trees in Waldens Landing, a 50-townhouse community in Long Reach. We used a competitive selection process and were very pleased with the expert tree knowledge reflected in the proposed statement of work and with the very reasonable fees. Work scheduling was flexible to ensure safety of residents car in the adjacent parking lots. Private tree trimming was also done via direct contact/contract at good rates when scheduled with the community work. These are tall mature trees, some of which are so big that they should never have been planted here 35 years ago. Noticed at lunch time that a large tree in the back yard was falling over towards my neighbors fence, shed and house. Called Charlie and in two hours he was out and had the tree safely down before dark without any damage. Did a great job.
