Black Belt Landscaping in Holden

We have been using Black Belt Landscaping services for 3 years and we are very pleased and satisfied with their work. We highly recommend them.

My experience with Black Belt Landscaping was rough from the start. It took nearly six weeks from initial review of the work/my property to getting a finalized, revised quote after multiple attempts between calling, emailing, re-submitting their online form to get someone to contact me and getting on the books. I really needed this work done before first frost, and I had gotten the furthest in the quote shopping process with them and was more or less desperate, which was clearly my mistake. They finally come to complete the work and, while I will say that they were incredibly kind and professional the two days they were on my property, the compliments mostly end there. The work that they did was sub-par and it seems that they were just looking to do a job, not a good job. Issues that I noticed included debris from a cut tree left on the end of my neighbors property and not walked back into the woods where they were told they could dump, poorly compacted grass/dirt that was dumped at the rear of my property and not flattened down much at all so its basically just a dirt pile in my back yard, old landscaping fabric that should have been pulled up in order to prepare a garden bed that was instead left in shreds all over the area with some still partially buried, stone dust that was haphazardly layered around in my garden in uneven depths when I had specifically requested and was quoted crushed stone (which I was told was the same price when it most certainly is not), and improperly installed garden beds that were not dug down into the dirt as requested which I was still expected to pay for the installation of despite the wind literally ripping three (of five) of them out of the ground. They also severely scraped up the black chain link fence I had around my garden. I followed up with these concerns that were found around the property and was more or less told thats what you get and that the quote was for the work that they did, even when I pointed out that I was quoted for different materials that have significantly different costs. Any attempts to request revisions, or to come at least complete what I had paid for, was met with an outrageous quote which I took as them just wanting me to go away. More specifically, I had asked them to install the crushed stone that I had originally requested so that the stone dust they did install wouldnt harden into an impermeable mud pit every time it rains (which they claimed wouldnt happen despite me watching it happen in real time), and I was quoted at an unbelievable $2200 and was told of their concerns about material availability late in the season. Oddly, I was quoted only $900 for this same work from another company who made no mention of material concerns. I had to remove the debris and dig the garden beds down by hand. While I have no problem in doing this work myself... what did I pay them for? I wound up paying the full amount that they charged me given that they refused to budge about the work, refused to do any revisions without charging me even more money, and refused to look again at the quote. I wasnt quite interested in going to small claims over this.. I almost never write reviews, let alone bad reviews, but the existing reviews for this company led me to believe they would go above and beyond and that they take pride in their work. Maybe my landscaping project was small peanuts compared to the work that they usually do and wasnt worth the effort from their perspective, but at that point just say that you dont have enough time to fit me in the schedule. Dont take a large sum of money from me and then expect another 2,200 to correct something that should have been done in the first place OR at least should have been quoted correctly so that I could determine what landscaping work I could just drop from the quote to make the amount work. All in all, very disappointed in the work they did, but I wont give just 1 star because they did SOMETHING.. but not much more than that.

There are lawn services and then there is Black Belt Landscaping. Let s start with fall clean up. Not only do they not show up at the first sign of a fallen leaf and consider that the job is done, but they respectfully wait until the trees are bare enough and then they do their magic. EVERY leaf and exhausted twig is removed from the premises until the lawn looks spotless. When spring arrives, so does Black Belt, consistently, competently and always with a pleasure to be of help. If ever our neighborhood were to run a contest for the best in show lawn, my property would win without an argument. I am convinced that even golf course owners envy what they see. Customer service is always available. No need listen to elevator music. Someone is ALWAYS available to handle the slightest concern or request. Ha! You say? But at what price? I m pleased report, more than reasonable when you experience this quality of workmanship. I wish I could send them out to Seattle to help my family out there

And because I like anecdotal stories, when first got the estimate from Alex it was for a gall cleanup. I wanted my year and neighbors front yard since he just had his surgery. The crew didnt realize that it was both yards so didnt do my neighbors....I quickly contacted Alex and at the end of a long day be came out and redid the task. More recently, I asked for a modification in the land scaping and no sooner said, it was done. Long and short, I would recommend Blackbelt..they surpass their name in what they deliver!

We were struggling with three overgrown hydrangea plants. Despite trimming and fertilizing, we had two blooms only for s few years. It was time for them to go! Black Belt came removed the plants without disturbing other plants that were very close. Black Belt did a great job. I am very happy with the results.

Requested a quote for an aeration back in April and the quote I received was higher than their website listed. They let me know they raised their prices and haven t updated their website yet. Signed the quote and didn t hear anything for 2 weeks. Called back and was told they would be calling me that week to schedule. Two weeks later and still no answer. Now we re past the time we needed the work done and already planted our seed. No communication and poor customer service. Oh, and the website is still wrong for pricing.

Black Belt Landscaping is an extremely professional, thorough lawn and garden care business. They always do a top notch job on my lawn , garden edging , and bush trimming. Recently they removed some trees from my back woodlands which were bending towards my house . They always use a blower to clean up the driveway and sidewalk as well as to clean grass and leaf debris from my back and front porches. Last year I was looking for a landscaping company because my lawn and all the green areas around my house were in a really bad condition. Black Belt Landscaping came into our rescue and in just a day they transformed the green areas of our home in a beautiful and revitalized landscaping with new mulch. They are 100% professional, beautiful high quality work, excellent customer service, quick responders and reasonable prices. Last year, when the heat wave was awful we didn t have to call them to delay their service, they called us to let us know that there was no need for them to provide the service because the lawn was not in bad condition. This is evidence that they don t take advantage of their customers, they care about us. 100% recommended, they are simply the best.

I have been very happy with the routine lawn service, Fall cleanup, and a special request to remove a couple Rhodies and replace them with holly bushes. One of the hollies blew over when we had very strong winds because it had not yet developed strong roots. I contacted Alex and he came the same day and re-planted it.
