I am a very happy customer of Green City Design and would recommend this company to anyone looking to elevate their backyard! Nick went above and beyond in designing a unique layout for my backyard in a modern-boho style. He offered valuable ideas to enhance my vision and it turned out extremely professional looking, while maintaining the bohemian feel I wanted. We added different features including a deck, fence, dog-friendly turf area, an archway, a stone pathway and patio area patio area, etc. I’m impressed with his knowledge and ability to guide me through the process without confusion. I work from home and have pets, so sharing our space could have been very stressful, but the crew was respectful of my apartment. It allowed me to see just how intensive the project was- and why I definitely could not DIY anything like it. They are true professionals with impeccable skills. I am thankful I chose them as my landscaping company!
I can’t say enough good things about Nick and the GREENCITY team. Our backyard design wasn’t overly complex but Nick was able to put together a design that captured all of the elements that we were looking for. He was accessible, communicative and has an acute attention to detail. The precision was impressive. In terms of install, the guys were fantastic. It’s tough to find companies that take pride in the quality of their work, and I can say with absolute certainty that the crew was second to none in terms of quality, attention to detail, and work ethic. No detail went unnoticed - which highlights their workmanship. I would absolutely recommend GREENCITY no matter how complex or simple your landscaping needs may be.
Nick & his team designed our backyard for us in Downtown Jersey City from something which was non functional to a beautiful, child and pet friendly place. He was very proactive right from the first correspondence and paid attention to all details. His team was very courteous of our space and always treated it with respect and care. The entire work was carried out by them walking through the house but they left no damage. He always kept our budget constraints in mind while designing the space and was never pushy. The project consisted of hauling tons of dirt, mud and paver materials outside and bringing in new pavers, turf, laying out plants and planters. They installed a beautiful fountain for the space too. Green City Design - All aspects of what I expect were exceeded - responsiveness, professional knowledge and integrity, calm, patient, thorough, creative, great advisor and collaborator (good listeners to my needs). And the quality of the work was fantastic - they were on time, did a difficult job with careful precision and an eye for detail. The job required them to move materials back and forth through the house....they left the house cleaner than they found it! I love the end product and working with GCD (Nick and his crew) was the best experience and decision I could have made. You would be foolish to entertain using anyone else.
The crew at Green City Design are fantastic to work with, very professional and highly communicative. As a landscape architect I have often relied on GCD to install my high-end landscape projects in Hoboken and Manhattan.
Our space was bland and boring until Nick and the team came in to beautify our roof deck. They were flexible to our schedule and selected the perfect design and greenscape to complete our space. We now have a fully green, easily maintained garden with lighting, full irrigation and a layout that gets the jaw-drop response we were hoping for when visitors come by. I highly recommend them.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience working with Nick at Green City Design. He came to do a walkthrough of our space and helped us realize the true potential of our yard. Nick and his team worked incredibly hard during the installation of the plants and has been very supportive to us with all the questions we have since everything has been planted. Nick and his team did an excellent job of transforming our unfinished backyard into a space that is calming, comfortable, and low maintenance. Nick was able to match and extend our existing patio to better utilize our space. His team installed artificial turf that is high quality and safe for my toddler to play on. They planted a beautiful array of flowers, grasses, and bushes with my existing plants mixed in. They installed an irrigation system and topped the flower beds with mixed river rock that is not only visually pleasing but also functions to keep the soil in place. Nick s finishing touch was the placement of a gorgeous Japanese Maple that brings the entire space together. I highly recommend Green City Design to anyone interested in revamping an outdoor space.

We had our entire backyard re-done in Hoboken - Nick and his team were great to work with. Very creative, yet detail-oriented, patient with our many questions and flexible as we changed a few design items along the way. Also very careful as they had to go through our house with all equipment and plants etc. We highly recommend Green City Design for your garden project.
I hired Nick in the fall of 2020 for a backyard overhaul. First of all, he is the best! Communication is top notch, attention to detail/design eye is impressive and he was on time and did what he promised from the beginning! He scheduled time with me immediately to review my property. When we met, I was impressed with his knowhow and professionalism. He turned a proposal around quickly and started the project immediately. We had some time deadlines due to the approaching winter. Nick and his team worked overtime to get the project done. As the spring of 2021 approached, I didn t hesitate to hire him for phase 2 (plant installation). Also, over the winter due to weather, there were minor things that needed to be fixed (i.e. chipped paint on the retaining wall due to the weather) I just thought I would have to pay for this since it wasn t Nick s fault. He took care of it no questions! Needless to say, my yard ended up so beautiful it could be in a magazine! I know this is a long review, but he is seriously worth every word. HIRE HIM AND HIS TEAM!!

Green City Design transformed our neglected backyard into our own personal backyard getaway. Nick was there every steps of the way helping guide us through all the design decisions. Nick and his team worked effortless to deliver quality work while keeping within our budget and timeline.
We worked with Nick in summer 2020, he designed and helped us to select landscaping for our front and backyard. It looks AMAZING. I liked it right away but really came to appreciate all the thoughtful selections this summer (2021). Throughout the summer we always had something new blooming and changing. From textured grasses to native perennials around our patio and pergola, there is so much to take in. We had butterflies visiting all summer and even saw a rare hummingbird moth. I knew nothing about plants so I would have never been able to pick what he did. He totally understood the vibe I was going for too. Cant recommend enough!

Nick and his crew are hands down the best in the area. They overhauled the courtyard and parking lot plantings in our condo building in Jersey City Heights. I interviewed many others and none came close to the degree of professionalism and understanding of keeping our garden spaces natural and beautifully designed. The plantings have majorly upgraded our common spaces and are low maintenance with zero chemical sprays, or plastic coverings. They also put in irrigation for us and have been really helpful in making sure its all working post-winter. Id definitely hire them again!
Nick and his team did a fantastic job with our Hoboken backyard. He was creative in his approach and practical with design. He built a gorgeous fence, relocated a tree and brought in the perfect blend of shrubs and plants to our yard. His team was on time, clean and wore masks.

Nick did an amazing job with our relatively small balcony (about 180 SF) in Hoboken. The quality of the materials he sourced was excellent and he completely understood the modern, tranquil look we were looking to achieve. He was patient with us despite our indecisiveness during the design process, and always followed-up. Greencity Design completely transformed our outdoor space from something completely unusable, overgrown and dangerous to our toddler, too an amazing play, dining, lounging and BBQ space! From design to execution (in the face of COVID restrictions and delays) Nick and the team were on point, communicated everyday and worked with our neighbors to ensure a respectful environment in our neighborhood. Nick was on site 99% of the days rain, hail or shine and always available on the phone if anything came up (like the audible we pulled on him same day to reduce the retaining wall height!) Challenges we tackled as a team. Ideas and advice always shared. Overall a great experience.
Nick and his team did a phenomenal job transforming our concrete backyard that overlooked a parking lot, into a private relaxing oasis. They installed fencing, a privacy wall, turf, planters and trees. Green City Design exceeded our expectations, they were professional, knowledgable and overall great to work with. GreenCity Design (GCD) transformed our over exposed, sun baked 20x20, concrete slab of a yard into a luxurious, private oasis. In the process we gained privacy, year round greenery, extended the use of our garden to 10+ months /year and somehow made our little yard look bigger. Our project involved soft and hard landscaping, masonry, fireplace, a custom pergola build and install, lighting and electrical. From start to finish, GCD was the height of professionalism and delivered as promised with results that really WOW...and totally on budget. We could not have asked for a better result and can t overstate the quality of the GCD team. GCD provides creative design which is responsive to customer objectives, a take charge approach to the planning and permitting process, an organized and methodical implementation process with exacting standards and white glove service from start to finish. For GCD the job does not end after the final invoice is paid. We had several follow up questions and needs for guidance, such as plant maintenance and an unusual caterpillar infestation - - GCD was quick to respond with patient guidance and informative advice. Would I work with GCD again? Absolutely! In fact, we are already planning to work with GCD to transform our front yard. Big job or small, you are in great hands with GCD.
My wife and I hired Green City Design to install a patio and re-do the landscaping in our backyard. This was a unique job because we live in an apartment building with limited access to the outdoor space. Nick did an incredible job coming up with a design that fit our needs and budget. He was very accommodating, making himself available early in the morning or later in the evenings to meet and discuss the project. He and his team did a great job on the project, working quickly to acquire the necessary permits and complete the job in time for us to enjoy it during the warmer months. I have no hesitation in recommending Green City Design as our experience was very positive and exceeded our expectations.
