These guys did an excellent job landscaping around our dumpsters at work. We needed to dig holes for trees, but were unable to because of rocks. They were very quick and professional. I would definitely recommend them and use them for future landscaping needs!

James Thompson and his employee, Marvin, are simply amazing. Our back yard is a major train wreck with problematic areas like a chain link fence and a space between the shed and the fence which was hard to get to. The first thing they did was to come out and pre-spray, and that spray must be nuclear. Within 12 hours the vines and overgrowth was already wilting. Then Marvin came out and trimmed and cut everything out, hauled away the vines and brush and in 3 days the yard was completely transformed. Marvin sprayed again when he finished, so as to keep the junk from coming back. Now the yard is much, MUCH easier to maintain as my husband is a disabled vet and cant do a lot. It looks absolutely fantastic and now that it is all cleared and nice, I might get my wish for a bench and firepit back there! We have more work to do in the front; removing a tree, washing the house, etc. and I know EXACTLY who I will get to do that! Thompsons Improvements is absolutely terrific and I highly recommend them to everyone. Their price was a little lower than expected, the quality of the work was off the scale and James Thompson keeps track of everything, calls you with updates, answers the phone every time, and his guy Marvin was a miracle worker. Thompson Improvements Pro Services went above and beyond to help with leaf removal and lawn care at my grandmothers house. Quick response in regards to a quote and was able to provide service the very next day. They even suggested improvements and services that I had not even thought of. He improved flow into our French drain, spruced up our flower beds, and did some light land clearing. I will be hiring him again to fix a larger water drainage issue between an artesian well and creek. We have underground springs coming to the surface and it s not easy to develop a solution. His design is much superior to what I got from larger companies in Asheville. His price is lower but I d rehire him even if he were higher.

Based on the good reviews, I chose Thompson Improvements to call for handyman and yard work. He came quickly to examine the work and gave me an estimated time for a quote. Time went by and I never heard from him. Followups led to more promises of a quote, which again came and went without hearing from him. Eventually I was able to get an estimate. The quote was way above his stated 120/hr for three workers. For example, $85 for a 15 minute max one person job. In any case, I chose a handful of smaller jobs that I still wanted done. He said that this was no problem and hed take any work, but would be later in the week. At the end of the week, I simply received a text saying that he will not be doing work any work as he is too busy. No recommendation of someone else, just not going to do it. One full month of flaking out at every opportunity and one full month of wasting my time. Is very friendly in person, but has absolutely no respect for anyones time, make constant promises that he never follows through on, and prices are completely divorced from his stated hourly rate. Avoid!

I was very impressed of not only the project that James and his crew tackled but also the professionalism and attention they gave to detail. It is important to me to hire people that not only can do the job, but I can trust and welcome into my home. James & his crew removed 3 large trees close to the house without any issues, in addition they trimmed quite a few other trees close to the house that were hanging over the roof. His crew also cleaned and repaired the gutters, soft washed the eaves & soffits, deck railing and power washed the retaining wall which all came out beautiful. They also tackled a job I was not capable of doing which was cleaning out my fathers shop which had years of old & unwanted items such as tv s, microwaves, old carpeting, treadmill, exercise bike, vacuum cleaners, wood, furniture and so much more. This might be a long review, but it needs to be! We ve been in between moving into a new house and fixing up our old one to sell, and have had quite a bit of work to do at both places. I ve been trying to line up different people to do some yard work at the new place and repair some siding at the old place. I searched through all the usual websites and contacted quite a few people over several days, but calls weren t returned and emails weren t answered. I ve never been so frustrated and panicked in my life! But then....the heavens opened up and there was James! He answered my request for a quote for yard work almost immediately, and said he would come by that afternoon to give me an estimate. Not only did he actually show up, eagerly jumping out of his truck with a big smile and great attitude, he even brought his lawn mower and by the time he was done we had a beautifully manicured yard! He even spread some extra grass seed he had with him on the lawn to fill in some empty spots, and offered to come by the next day to reseed and aerate the whole yard. And he showed up then too! I wasn t able to be there then, so he surprised me by taking pictures of what he had done and sending them to me, along with a detailed description. When I learned that day that he could do siding, along with just about everything else (he had worked for a general contractor before starting his own business, and his dad is also a contractor), I realized I had found a gold mine! He came a few days later (promptly on time!) to give us an estimate, and showed up bright and early the very next morning armed with tools and a great attitude. The siding job was a lot more involved than he had thought (rotten wood and ants), but he took that in stride and worked even harder to fix everything, including treating the ant colony. He even painted the new pieces and caulked (with the very best non-cracking caulk) every possible way ants could have gotten in, and cleaned up so well afterwards you would have never known it had just been a major construction zone. And our house looks beautiful! James takes a great deal of pride in his work, and is one of the hardest working people I ve ever seen. He sees every challenge as a way to learn something new, and is so grateful for every opportunity. I m so relieved to know an honest person I can call now for just about anything I need to have done, at a very reasonable price, who is dependable and does excellent work. Thank you so much, James!!! Update 05/14/2019: More great work from James over the past week! We re on his schedule now to have our new yard mowed on an ongoing basis and we have a beautiful, trimmed yard again. He mentioned that he had been clearing English ivy off trees on another job, so I asked his advice on some trees in our new backyard that were covered up with ivy. He explained about a method he had learned to eliminate it and save the tree, and I asked him to do that for us whenever he had a chance. After he finished mowing I looked out the window and there he was, knee deep in ivy, working hard for several more hours till he had our trees all cleared off. What a relief to know that those trees will live on! I love how he takes the initiative and just jumps in. On an earlier visit he had noticed that our gutters were full of pine needles and offered to clean them out and blow off our roof, taking the time to explain to me the damage it could cause if we let it go too long. We set up a time for home to come back yesterday and clear them out. I wasn t able to be there, but he took before and after pictures from the rooftops and sent them to me as he was working (I didn t ask him to do that, but appreciated so much seeing it firsthand!). All the gutters were completely full and all clogged up, just like he had suspected, so he cleared and flushed them all out, and also blew off the roof, leaving everything like new. So thankful that he suggested that! James really cares about his customers, and is eager to share his knowledge and experience to help them in any way he can. Thanks, James!!!

James and his team did an amazing job at my house. There were four of them and they cleared so much brush, small trees, a massive Juniper bush, and a ton of poison ivy. They got more work done in one day than most of my other contractors have done in twice that time. Ill definitely have them back!

I was very impressed with the job that was done on my property recently. They cleared massive amounts of weeds but managed to keep all the flowers and bushes isolated and without hurting them. I have used Alans Handyman Services for the past 2 years. Alan is easy to work with and eager to get to work. He can do handyman jobs, yard work, remodeling and anything else you might need help with. He pays attention to details and when working on one thing and notices something else that needs attention he will let you know. For example, one time he was trimming some branches that were hanging over the roof. He noticed the gutters were full of leaves and offered to clean them out. I will be using Alans services for many jobs in the future including maintenance, repairs and home-improvement projects.
