The grass isn't always greener with Turf's Up. Over the past 10-12 years, I have used several lawn maintenance services. Turf's Up is by far the worst. On their first visit (unannounced), they took soil samples and sprayed 2-3 spots for weeds, then received a bill for $61. Next up, they did aeration and overseeding on the next visit. Despite watering daily, the onnly seeds that germinated were the seeds that were hand applied in a few spots. The rest of the yard saw very little new grass growth ($215 wasted). On another visit, the technician didn't do one side of the yard (doorbell camera). Turf's Up sent someone to finish the yard. On the last visit of the season, Turf's Up applied a lime application on a very windy day. See attached picture which shows lime dumped on the street in front of my house.
Absolutely the worst lawn care service I have ever dealt with. We hired Turf's Up last year for fertilization, aeration, seeding, and insect control. What a disaster. Despite their "expert" services, our lawn was completely overrun with weeds all season. We called multiple times asking for help, but it was like shouting into the void – they never addressed our concerns. To make matters worse, they never show up when they say they will. This caused major timing issues with our lawn mowing service, throwing our entire schedule off. Their lack of professionalism and reliability is beyond frustrating. And the cherry on top? After prepaying for all our services, they had the audacity to send an unpaid bill to collections without ever contacting us or even sending an invoice. This is not just a mistake; it's immoral and shady business practice. Stay far, far away from Turf's Up. If you're looking for quality service and ethical business practices, you won’t find them here. They’re an absolute nightmare to deal with. Avoid at all costs!
I have been impressed with the professional and hardworking team at Turfs Up. Randy and Dan were knowledgeable and took their time to make sure I understood the various options offered. I would definitely recommend to my friends and family.
Dan Thacker is a hero. Pretty much everyone at Turf's Up is fantastic. Omar and Randy are great, too. They are available, professional, and understanding at ALL times. Competitive prices also don't hurt. Not many customer driven companies are out there anymore, so it's pleasant when I run into one.
I tried three other lawn care services prior to Turf's Up (at the time it was Rockwater Farms). I have been VERY pleased with their service and responsiveness to any problem areas. I honestly get so many compliments on how great my lawn looks and I know it was a huge selling point when I sold my house.
Turf’s Up has been treating our property for a little over a year now and what a difference. Our yard has never looked healthier since we have been in our home. The techs always do a great job treating our yard and cleaning up the driveway from any scattered fertilizer. We are always notified of when the next application is scheduled and their prices are hard to beat. Great staff and great service. I highly recommend them.
Customer service at its best! Yes I am here to brag about Rock Water/Turf’s Up customer service. Shout out to Dan! Honestly, this review is way over due. Over the years Dan has listened to our lawn concerns and addressed each of them efficiently, visited our property to investigate the issue, educated us on the root cause of the problem, took soil samples and treated our lawn effectively. Just recently, we simply asked Dan “what can we do to take our yard from lemon-lime green to deep green?” He promptly answered our question, provided us with a couple of reasons for this, asked us a few questions and using his whit he felt like we had a soil deficiency. Dan came out, treated our lawn and within a couple of weeks our lawn went from well manicured to a lush vibrant green well manicured lawn. It is always a pleasure working with Dan! Dan Thacker was knowledgeable, professional and very responsive. The work was just completed and appears to be done satisfactorily. Will know about effectiveness in 4 weeks so hoping for the best. So far so good! Two aerating and seasons later they are outstanding and the results show it
I am not a huge review person and I dont really like to write many reviews online, but if a business or place is exceptional, I feel its important to share my positive experience. This is exactly how I feel about Turfs Up in Haymarket, VA. Dan Thacker is the best! I researched for a few weeks on a reliable lawn care company. It was quite difficult as there are many many lawn cares with decent reviews in this area. I finally decided on Turfs Up. To be honest, they looked liked all the others so I really wasnt sure how it would be. I was impressed to find out that Dan Tracker was amazing. He is great to work with and really exceeds my customer service expectations. We NEVER had a lawn care company or something ongoing so we had no idea on what to do. We literally had a thousand questions and Dan answered every one. He was so accommodating. Service every few weeks is great, consistent and overall, I could not be more pleased. Im so glad I found this company! Thanks again Dan Thacker for working with us and I continue to look forward to your amazing service. Thank you for giving me a wonderful experience Turfs up.

Turfs up has been great so far. I use them for regular weed control. Aside from one hiccup, which they were professional, took accountability, and worked to correct, it has been a great experience. Recommend using them vs other common lawn weed type companies.
I have had an 8 year relationship with the Rockwater and Turfs Up combination of teams and have had a great experience. If you want a reliable service provider who does what they say they will do and stands behind their service, then this is the choice for you. If you want the cheapest bidder and dont care about having a company that wants to do things right, then you can search for a Chuck with a Truck, fly by night company.
Using Turfs Up dramatically improved my lawn in the first season, they make as many trips as necessary to knock out weeds right away. They always answer their phone, management is always available, and the office staff are helpful and kind. If you want a great lawn by the end of summer, call them now, you won t regret it!
We ve been using Rockwater Farm / Turf s Up for several years now and we re so happy with them. Their customer service is wonderful and our yard looks great. They ve done our weed control, grass seed, and compost/top dressing.
The majority of houses on our street use turfs up and there s a reason why. Great company to work with. We were planning to sell our home and Turfs up offered a pay as you go plan that could be cancelled any time. After just 2 rounds of treatments and a few (free) weed control service our lawn looks great. Definitely recommend

Update: For 2024 Ive asked Turfs Up to expand treatment to the whole yard. I saw good results, compared to a neighbor, and decided to go all in. I selected Turfs Up because I saw them working a neighbors yard that I had admired. I purchased their 8-treatment plan for 2022 plus aeration and seeding in the fall. Because of the large size of our yard, I had them treat about 2/3 of it. The areas they treated and seeded are noticeably improved over the area that was not treated, so I am well pleased with the results. Additionally, I have called them several times to ask questions about the treatments and to identify certain weeds (now gone) that were causing problems. I have always been proud of my yard being the best looking in my neighborhood and Turfs Up Lawn Care Service had been instrumental in my beautiful lawn, shrubs, and trees.
Very friendly and responsive staff. Always willing to come out to do extra weed control treatments. Price and value is better than many of their competitors. Only concern is that based on weather, may not get a full 8 applications, but still charged for 8 applications.
Turfs Up are great. From the office staff, the technicians and I think I talked to a boss once when I called. These people are easy to deal with. I always get a 2 day warning when they are coming. They do what they say they are going do. Our lawn is looking beautiful.
I used to try to do my own yard fertalizing throughout the year. I enjoy working outside but the weeds were never under control and the yard just didnt look great. We finally decided to try this service and what a difference. Im sure Ive spent way more each year but i never got these results. My husband and i are both thrilled and our yard looks great. Great service! Lawn has improved every year. Very professional, and responsive to requests. They have aerated my lawn 2yrs in a row without shredding my invisible dog fence. Previous lawn service destroyed my fence every year, no matter how I marked the fence. They take pride in their work--great staff!
Ive been using Turfs Up for a couple years now and the product speaks for itself. My lawn has been treated for weeds, pests, bare spots and overall ph balance. It has transformed. I continue to use them for spring cleanup and we are working on extending the improvement plan to even more space in my backyard. I look forward to the transformation Ill see this year.
