Our backyard was flooding badly so I was looking for DIY and paid solutions. I found Ted online and he came out for a paid consultation. 100% worth the investment. He used tools Id never have access to to determine what we needed for the job and walked me through the process of doing it myself as well as how to review quotes from other professionals. Amazing company for landscape lighting! Tim went out of his way to call me about an issue with my order (transformer wasn t big enough for watts) and took so much time discussing different options. Definitely wasn t expecting that and so thankful that I decided to order from TJB! Photo doesn t do the lights justice but they are perfect, and the service is unbeatable!

This company is the real deal. We just moved to our Hamden home and within a week realized that our lawn was entirely draining towards our house. Inside an hour we had water leaking into our basement. We called Ted and his son Rob and they came by, assessed the problem, and installed a drainage conduit to our yard. Ive waited a few moths to post a review, to make sure that the drain fixed our problem. Tropical storm Elsa came and went and no water in the basement. If you have lawn drainage issues, call this company without delay!

PSA: Their website says they service all of Connecticut, but when I submitted a quote request for residential landscaping, i was told it would be too far and I should find a more local servicer. I live 2 towns away (12 miles). I added this 1 star review so others would be aware that there is fine print on where they actually service depending on the type of service you are looking for. And I didnt just want a lawn mowed, i wanted a larger clean-up service. I personally didnt think Meriden was too far from Hamden, but for this business it is so please just keep this in mind when considering this company. Im not upset I just think they should highlight their terms and conditions a bit clearer on their website.

I used Ted Greiners flat-fee consultation to solve my drainage issues. He made himself available for follow up questions and even checked in with me after Tropical Storm Henri. We trimmed some trees around our property which resulted in our backyard flooding with water up against our foundation regularly with all the crazy rain this summer. Ted came out and came up with a drainage solution to take care of the issue. There were some complications and tweaks that needed to be made after Hurricane Ida that Teds crew came back and took care of. Ted even showed up unannounced one day to check-in on everything. TJB is reasonably priced and professional. Recommended.

Ted has come out to my house twice and I can attest to the fact that he is extremely knowledgeable. Even my engineer husband was impressed by Teds expertise. Ted has a keen eye and will spot whatever the issues are with your property. He is not in a rush and will take the time to discuss the problem with you so that he completely understands the situation. We had him assess a drainage issue that is destroying our patio. Many others have looked at this patio and fled the scene. Ted told us exactly what was wrong and how to fix it. Although he thinks we could make the fix ourselves, I think Id prefer to have Ted do the work!

Weve had a muddy yard and water seepage since we bought the house thirty+ years ago. We finally decided enough was enough and went looking for drainage experts. We found TJB, and were glad we did. Ted was knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely professional. He recommended installing a system of underground drains and grading the yard so water would be directed away from the house. As others have noted, he sent us a variety of literature describing the techniques he was going to use. As an arborist, he also helped us figure out which of our trees needed to be removed. (TJB doesnt do tree work.) One thing I always watch for is how much the boss trusts his crew. Ted and his son were confident enough not to micromanage their employees. As a certified sidewalk supervisor, I tell you that their trust was justified. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend TJB.

The labor pains are not worth the baby! We did a major project, most of the work by the end was very nice...however, lots of chasing for return phone calls, chasing for scheduling, accusations of not making payments after setting up a credit card profile for auto payments (you sign each days work form, I expected to be charged automatically as it was an ongoing project over several weeks and close to 20k total costs.) Apparently, they expected me to call regularly to give my CC info each time, but they didnt tell me this... we spent an hour setting up my profile and the owner explained how well his encryption system to protect my info is, my CC info is safe with them. The owners son blasted me claiming I was a deadbeat. If I set up a profile and you dont say that you want me to call, how would I know what you want? Less than a year later some bushes are black and nearly dead, they are the least expensive ones on the property, not the most expensive, the owner didnt want to come look, instead he explained why these are the wrong bushes for the location...hmmm, but he recommended the type, bought and planted them based on our property and desired look. I asked if he would replace the two worst ones. End result? Basically we need to buy new bushes full price! No offer to split the cost, no offer to just replace them, only a litany of why I was wrong to even think that. Apparently, as the owner personally told me, I am stupid, their warranty is for 60 days and it covers planting! Not the plant, just the quality of the hole and planting the bush or tree. Stay away, the only good thing about working with them was finding a better landscaper and understanding how good they are...if you are close enough, choose Robert Hansen out of Shelton, a million times better. UPDATE: New landscaper came in and said the issue with the Holly Bushes is that they were planted too deep. Emailed Ted to share the information, even forwarded the email to read and ask to please replace or split the two bushes with me. In exchange Id update my one star review. Three weeks have passed no response. Interesting, Ted was so proud to say his warranty is on planting, an independent landscaper said the issue was planting too deep. Crickets. Well I hope that is worth it for you Ted. You did not do right by us and karma eventually evens out the world. Disappointed a family run business would do this, two holly bushes, $240 each. Disappointed you did not stand by your company, your employees or yourself RESPONSE TO OWNER: Be careful about lying Ted. I had given you my credit card on file and SIGNED every DAILY change order and Work Order. The fact that you did not charge the credit card and then claimed I didnt make payments is false and a lie. Similar to your claim I have a history of not paying bills, be careful you are treading into Liable Territory, my attorney would be happy to discuss directly with you. The plants YOU RECOMMENDED & planted died, the second landscaper said they were buried too deep and YOU said it was my choice of plant. YOU choose the plant. Then you said it was a $20 plant and you would have replaced it if I was nice. . . .hmmm emails I have were asking you to come look but YOU did not respond. When you did you wanted to charge me $240 per bush, the original price you charged me, but yet you claim it is a $20 bush. Proof you lie. Accuse me once more of not paying vendors and I will take legal action against you. Have a good life, move on and do better by other people, you cant take money to the grave and you cant wash your face without facing the mirror. You know what you did, you lied, you did not stand behind your work and you are making false statements about me. Be careful, dangerous steps you are making, you should never make false accusations, I have NEVER not paid vendors, in fact as you may recall, you had my credit card to use at will. I fed your men lunch while on property, tipped them and let them use our bathroom - none of which I HAD to do, all of which I CHOOSE to do.

My fiance and I hired TJB-INC to remove a set of concrete steps in order for our deck to be built. It required special machinery and TJB-INC had no issues breaking up the thick pieces of concrete. Not only did they break it up for us, they also removed the material and left a clean dirt surface for us to build our deck. We will now be using them this summer to build our patio off our deck!

Whatever your landscaping needs may be, you will not find a more knowledgeable, professional, and honest man than Ted. I highly recommend Ted and TJB for ANY job.

We called Ted to review and provide consultation on a drainage issue of a property we are under contract to purchase. He was very accommodating of our tight inspection timeline and provided great expertise and guidance on potential ways to alleviate; plus he provided a quote right on the spot!

Although we did not hire TJB to plant the trees, Ted provided us with some valuable information that the Emerald Green were not Deer Resistant and knew that our area had lots of deer so he suggested using the Green Giant variety instead. We would definitely at least request a quote from them for any future work.

We are new CT homeowners, transplanted from an urban area, and reached out to Ted for consulting services to learn about how we could mitigate a drainage issue affecting parts of our yard. Not only did Ted provide an education about the issue itself, but he explained how we could handle it ourselves by building a drain on the property. He also offered a wealth of information about all aspects of maintaining our yard--from caring for plants to addressing moss growing on a synthetic grass part of our property. As new homeowners without much knowledge of lawn maintenance, the information Ted provided is empowering us to know how to maintain our property for years to come. Only word of advice when hiring Ted for consulting services is to have a notebook handy. He will explain so much that you may have a hard time remembering it all.

Ted and team recently solved a complex drainage issue for me. TJB wants your project to be successful and Ted provided me the encouragement and knowledge to attempt a DIY solve. Unfortunately, the job proved too much for me and I called TJB back in. They accommodated me within in a week and lucky for me- the day before a Tropical Storm. The storm provided an excellent test and I slept comfortably knowing I had the right system installed. Ted s team works neat and left the site looking great- properly graded with a nice cap of seed and hay. Ted is super knowledgeable. Make sure you know where your utilities are and review it with the team. Any damage will be your responsibility.

I called Ted at TJB in Hamden .He came out and explained to me that my yard needed drainage pipes put in to resolve the dampness and water build up in the yard. He was very quick and efficient with his crew that he sent out left no mess rinsed and cleaned off my driveway and re seeded and straw the lawn. Very good Company would refer to anyone.

Previous posters experience about responsiveness differs quite a bit from mine. I called this contractor first about a year ago regarding yard drainage issues. The owner Ted picked up for me and had a good, lengthy discussion with me about some things to try before having him come out. Called them again yesterday to follow up and get a consultation, and Ted picked up after 3 rings right around noon - so when most folks would roll to voicemail for lunch - and he was able to schedule me for today. Arrived promptly, had a good attitude, wasnt rushed, and was willing to explore my property and options available. I havent hired out for any work yet, but my experiences with Teds professionalism so far have been excellent.

Ted was absolutely amazing. He took the time to diagnose and explain my drainage issues. He even drew me a diagram so I could do the job myself. He wasnt a pushy salesman and insisted I could do the job cheaper myself. I cant find words to praise him enough!!! Thanks Ted you rock!!

I had a great consultation with Ted. He was very knowledgeable and spent about two hours with me going over my drainage problems and solutions. The solutions he proposed were things he said I could do cheaper myself and the problems were not as bad as I had expected (as long as I deal with them). He also touched on non-drainage issues like tree pruning to keep squirrels away, types of mulch to use / not use and planting solutions for shady areas. I got a lot for my time and money. This is an incredible company because they have dedicated and caring employees. This is one of the very few companies that shuts off their lawn mower when a wheelchair drives by.I am sick and tired of of leaves and lawn clippings hitting me when I drive by on a scooter or wheelchair,because the others do not care.Keep up the good work.

Ted & company installed some drainage on our property this fall. Cant say they do bad work, but they treat employees like children. Anybody that has periodic work done from them will see different people 99% of the time on their property. They dont train employees. They use them temporarily then toss them like so much trash. They send employees out to clean customers koi ponds, without customers permission. You get to job site, lug all the equipment out, then homeowner would arrive home and say they didnt ask or give him permission to come. If clients didnt answer phone, he would leave message then send employees over so he would have to charge clients road time, and labor rates. ( and they did that often, and clients would take it out on employees. ) They may be nice and cordial on phone or in person, but trust me, nothing but money hungry, greedy wolves, in sheeps clothing....and dont talk very highly of some clients, behind their masks. ....dont be fooled!!...They ALWAYS have to have greenest lawn....if you know what I mean....children in adult bodies. .....
