Riverwood Landscape in Guelph

My condo corporation used this company for snow removal last year (thankfully did not use them this year) they leave an absolute mess of the property. The corporation next to us has used them this year and despite being told numerous amount of times not to pile the snow at the separating chain they continue to do so, pushing snow onto our property and refusing to clean it up. I have been in contact with the condo corporation that hired the company and even they have placed complaints with riverwood stating numerous times that this is not a designated snow pile area. I have never placed a negative review with any company, but this is completely unacceptable.

Jan 27 2023. This company was hired by my condo Corp. We hired them for snow removal as well as lawn maintenance. They did not complete work they quoted for . They were paid for lawn maintenance and they did not show up for the whole month of August. They did not complete the fall clean up which they quoted for. This company quoted for snow removal. This included driveways and walkways. They have not cleared any driveways or porched/stairs this season yet. They pile snow in areas that need to be cleared even after they were told not to. This will delay EMS or potentially hamper in an emergency. Overall a VERY bad experience. Their communication is non existent. They just ignore requests. I could go on and on. Please dont hire this company as you will not get your money s worth.

The best!! Honestly this company is a life saver..they work more than regular hours and very reasonable prices..super friendly and great quality of work..highly recommended and all I can say THANK YOU!

Our condo community uses this service for property maintenance, and their snow removal is almost worse than doing nothing at all. A few highlights: they arrive far too late to make a difference; they actually plow across driveways and trap vehicles, requiring owners to dig themselves out; they leave with only part of the property attended to (they seem to arrive to work on only one of three areas - sidewalks, driveways, or roadways - and then leave without clearing the other two areas); they seem to prefer to wait for the snow on the road to melt, rather than clearing it. I really am not sure what were paying for. I see neighbors run out of patience and clear their own walks, drives, and the sidewalks in front of their houses. There were complaints about this service at our last condo meeting, and discussion about switching services. At this point well be insisting on a change, rather than discussing one.

Service has been questionable, my first season with them - during the storm it took them a few days to clear my driveway, then on the next snowy weekend the route manager thought there wasn t enough snow in Oakville while my driveway had 3 snow on my stairs. Had to clear the snow myself although I ve paid for the season.

Update: Feb 2023. So, just when you thought this company couldnt get any worse, try this on for size. Ever see a plow truck come through a complex with over a foot of snow, and keep the blade up, not plowing, but instead salting??? This horrible company does just that. When asked they claim Im tired. Well you chose your job. Dont like it, then do something else. Oh I know, easy money right? Tons of video and photos of the terrible job this useless company does. stay away. Would give 0 stars, they dont even deserve 1. This is the worst company for snow removal (and summer lawn maintenance). They were hired to maintain a complex in Kitchener. As you can see from the photos, they do not clear the snow completely. Their work ethics are terrible. A plow truck will drive through quickly, without the blade touching the ground. then pass by again, and throw down some salt and call it a day. The roads are worse after the plow has been through. Its been like this for 3yrs now. They are ripping off the complex management with shady work, more like NO work done at all. DO NOT USE this company, unless you enjoy terrible work and lazy workers.

Not all heroes wear capes, some drive snow plows I woke up to about 20cms of snow and my daughter was supposed to be on her way to an event. I saw the Riverwood website where it says contractors don t call back right down don t show up. I thought that meant they would come when they said. I was dealing with Isabelle about getting a quote and all was going well. Troy stepped in and an appointment was set between 1 and 4 last Tuesday then I got an email narrowing it down to a time between 1 and 1:30. This was going good. Well, NOBODY SHOWED UP. No call, text or email. I waited all afternoon on Tuesday. I emailed hoping they were not in an accident or something. Today is Saturday and crickets. I know I just have a small residential sod job but what can I say. This company seems to be exactly what their website advertises they are not. To Riverwood, Is business too good?

These guys did a great job. Very well organized, did everything exactly how I wanted and more. They did my backyard, side of my garage and around my shed. Flawless.

Excellent company. They are prompt, professional and friendly. I used them for sod installation and would recommend them for that. We contacted Riverwood for a spring clean up. Tanis captured all of our needs and helped to modify the job based on our budget. The job was completed earlier than scheduled and in an efficient way. Tanner helped to address our follow-up questions and needs.

I called next day they showed up, measured , walked me through the process, 3 hours later , gave the quote which was good , I booked the case when they said 2 days they were done , it turned out the way they said it would. Dave From Fergus

The rental property uses this company for snow removal. It is AWFUL, and that is being nice. When they do show up (never on the same day as a major snowfall), the truck drives through the complex up to 4 times and doesnt have the plow down. It leaves piles of snow at end of the driveways. Does not clear slush. In fact, it looks even worse after they leave. Multiple times they park at the onsite managers unit, and they all flirt with each other. If a plow goes down a road and does its job correctly, you should not see large tracks in the snow when they leave. Do not use this company for any snow removal services. They better stick to grass care. The attached photos are a few moments after the plow truck left for the night. Good job right?

They did a fine job with the work but where they really impressed me was the customer service. Excellent communication from quote to completion and ensured I was aware of the process every step of the way.

Great experience with Isabelle during the quotation phase. Very detailed quote with all of the various options that we discussed. Job scheduling was prompt, a couple of weeks after agreement on the scope. Communication during the execution phase was poor and I had to reach out for updates every day as opposed to being given updates. Teams left site untidy and without any communication that they would be leaving and not returning. The constant follow up to find out what was happening and when it would be happening should not have been required and to honest, I spent more of my time chasing for updates and following up on concerns than I expected to. They did a great job with the mulch application, not so great with the over-seeding where there was a lot of asphalt spread on my lawn with the topsoil and seed. My expectations for the over-seeding were certainly not met. With regards to the spring tidy up, I thought they did an ok job. Disappointed in the mess that was left and also that an entire flowerbed was removed in the cleanup. This was put down as a misalignment on scope, however I would expect something of that nature would have been clearly indicated on the quote and not just seen as part of the lawn over-seeding. The team have promised to restore the flowerbed, so thats positive. My experience raising my concerns with Colin and Antonio was very positive and they were receptive to feedback. All in all, a good team and if there had have been more attention to detail, tidiness and communication during the job, I would not have hesitated in giving them a higher rating.

Riverwood Landscaping renovated our front side and backyard. They removed old bushes and installed new; created a back garden around the trees; defined and brightened the side garden and walkways; created a landscape design and installed all; coordinated colours with our brick and stone work. A young up and coming landscaping company who take pride in their work. Highly recommended!!

Riverwood does VERY poor work. They are to come on Wednesday and don t show up until mondays. They have told me they can t do something that is in contract due to them having a busy day. Their plowing job is laughable. & them cutting grass is like a kid doing it. Spots missed everywhere.

They ve been cutting my grass for several years now. Very professional and prompt, I m quite happy with the service and would recommend giving them a chance.

We have used Riverwood for rental property lawn care for 1 season so far and have overall been pleased with their service. They keep us updated on their schedule by text and the landscaping work has been good.

This is our first year using Riverwood for lawn and yard maintenance. We have found the staff to be very friendly and easy to work with. They were open to discussing the work we needed to have done. They made every effort to follow through on jobs that were arranged and messaged us when the work was completed. During the busiest times in the season, when a few jobs were not completed as scheduled, there was a quick response to us explaining what the issue was and what the resolution would be. We plan to use Riverwood again next year.

Reliable and professional. Riverwood Landscape just recently did an awesome fall cleanup. Trimmed hedges, edged the sidewalk, collected branches and debris. They send weekly text messages before and after servicing my property. Im very happy with their attention to detail.

My parents lawn and yard were an eyesore - flower beds full of weeds, junk all over the lawn, and a general mess! It was so bad that my parents could not get it under control. The team did a great clean up and plant care - weeded and mulched all the flower beds, edged the beds and the border between the garden and the lawn, got rid of all the dead vegetation, and cleaned up of the other junk. I still cant believe how much they did in 1 day!! I was impressed by their professionalism and the care they took in all of their work. It looks wonderful and will be much easier to manage. The before and after pictures are like night and day. They had open communication and kept me well informed throughout! I would recommend their work without hesitation. Thank you Riverwood.

French Drain Installed. April 2021. Prompt reply and quotation provided. Scheduled and completed the project within a week. Professional team approach. Fair price for quality of the work. They kept us in the loop at every step throughout the project. We really couldnt have asked for better service and quality of work. 100% would recommend.

I dont like giving bad reviews but they dont respond if you just have a little project. I was in contact with Colin but after the assessment by Maddy, they never responded back even after messaging. Not sure what happened there, but it would be much more professional to just respond with rejection than not all. They all seem nice people. I just hope they improve on this part.

Colin and his team provided an excellent service in the regrading of my yard so that the water is better managed. They were able to work with my neighbour and I to fix both of our water issues. I would recommend them for any landscaping work going forwards.

I have waited to post a review of this company since they installed new sod in my back yard and created a shed base September 2020 because I was just so upset and the whole experience and best to take time for some perspective. They were a week late coming without notifying me. I had to use their unusual call centre to ask when they were coming. I had taken the original week off work to tend to the yard. I was unlucky to not be home EVER while they were pricing the work so had to convey through text or if lucky enough to speak with Colin ( apparently he is the boss ). I never met him. He never showed up despite serious concerns about the grading the team did. The amount of new soil that was added and quite frankly not removing enough old soil to deal with the weed infestation of which I m having to deal with this spring. Same weeds growing back in same place. It s pathetic. There wasn t enough river rock and bare patches are easily seen. I m a nurse and had the unfortunate timing of been called in to work the day they finally appeared. I did notice they didn t roll the grass as I came home as they were laying the sod. I m convinced there was hardly any new soil replaced. They came back and did a pathetic attempt to roll the grass. Being the landscape experts I thought they re would ve been an edge created between the river rock and grass edge or at least posed to the question. Another lame attempt to rectify that with cheap plastic edging just sitting on top of the soil. Which now I have to remove. I m also pretty sure the shed base won t work as they created well below the grass edge or at the very least more adjustments so shed door can swing open. I would really think twice about using this company or watch them very closely at the quality of their work. I regret paying them in full to be honest.

We had a new patio installed and resod of the full back yard. The sod has settled and it s looking great. I think the patio guy is called Eric, Eric was superb. Knocking on the back door with updates, a very pleasant man with an incredible attention to detail in his patio work.

The quoting was fast and reasonable. That is where it ended. The job started beginning of May and finished June12th. Patio Maintenance which I was assured my patio would look like new. The first crew took forever to complete the power wash and polymeric sand. The job was terrible . I told the project manager they better not seal it until he came and inspected the job. He admitted the job was terrible and had to start over and remove what was done. After a new crew was hired they did a great job of sanding and cleanup. The sealing was completed and it looks 100 percent better.

Thanks for the great work and clear communications on our sod install. While it was a busy summer and schedules adjusted a bit, I appreciate how open you were in your communications with me. We got them to sod our front yard which was full of mulch, trees and clay soil. Colin and his team did an amazing job. It looks beautiful now. We highly recommend them for any yard projects. Update: This year we went to them to get our backyard done since we were so happy with our previous project but the experience was not good. Over the call we asked if they could do any better with pricing since we were returning customers. I even said if they cant I understand I just need to know. Instead of saying they cant match it to the price we were asking for I got an email after many days and follow ups saying we were wasting there time and man hours! We had so many contractors come and give us quote and design for free, these guys were the only ones to whom we paid an admin fee to come and check the backyard for creating the design because that is how confident we were we would go with them. But at the end Customer service turned out to be horrible. All that we expected was either yes we can try and get the price close to what you are looking for or no we cannot do that price Instead of making us wait for days just to send an email telling we have wasted your time! We are still happy with our frontyard but very disappointed with the backyard project experience .

Unsure of what to do to solve our drainage issues in the backyard - lots of clay here. Colin evaluated our options and proposed re-sloping a portion of the yard, laying of new sod, and installing a planted rain garden/dry well as a place for the water to collect. Crew was professional, worked hard, and showed up as scheduled over the couple of days needed to complete the work. Covid created some supply issues with sourcing the flagstone for the path, which was communicated to us - so it was completed a couple of weeks after the rest of the work. The flagstone they were able to find and install for us was exceptional and well worth the extra wait. Id certainly recommend Colin and his crews for you landscaping needs.

Riverwood was able to come over and do a fall cleanup on short notice. The team was professional and did a good job. Attention to detail was missing as some stones were moved and not put back in it s original place and some weeds weren t removed. Colin assured me that it will be taken care of during their next visit. Overall I m satisfied and will be engaging with them for long term services!

I spoke to several companies and Colin had the best offer. Our yard was neglected this whole summer because we were extremely busy with construction work around the house. After Installing interlock with another company we were left with the lawn grade too high in one area and too low in another. Colin assured me that his team can get the job done and more, he was right. They not only fixed the grade in both the front yard and backyard they also trimmed the hedges rearranged plants in my flowerbeds and removed all the weed before laying out the beautiful sod. The project was completed today and Ive already received so many complements.
