Hiring Donnie Mac was a huge mistake. After spending months planning the yard landscaping, I called him for an update and he gave me an aggressive attitude for making an inquiry into our project, which he later blamed on his personal issues. There was no discussion of what do to with existing plants which we spent days later replanting ourselves. The landscaping crew was awful. They planted a lilac plant two inches from a staircase. Most of the plants were very immature when compared to the same full grown specimens from a local nursery plants for the same price (he did give us a modest discount when I pointed this out to him in person). The crew didn't have our complete order of plants with them, so they planted whatever they had leftover on their truck. I also found a can of Modelo in the bushes shortly after they left. Many of the plants have since died off or not grown at all several years later. I felt completely disrespected by an angry, malcontent individual with a poorly trained construction crew. Avoid hiring this company and save yourself the expense and headache of a totally underwhelming outcome.

Pay the extra $ now to be guaranteed exceptional results! If you have a beautiful nice new home or are looking to enhance your exterior aesthetic, you NEED to budget for landscaping!!! Follow their lead, they know what they’re doing! They also do uplighting! They designed our entire plan, walked us through every step of the process, were on time and professional and all we had to do was sit back and watch it come to life! I can’t say enough positive things about our experience from start to finish! I am truly impressed with Don and his amazing company!

I had my edging project completed this May 2023. My project was a whole year after the 2nd meeting back in July 2022. The initial plan was to include paver behind my covered patio and edging throughout the house. I was told my project would be done in early summer 2023. We decided to not move forward with the paver before selecting the type of paver we would want after weighing the pros and cons of paver versus cement. Nobody really reached out for the duration that we waited. I did not hear from my designer on whether I would still want to continue with current design or make changes before project start date. I had to reach out to remain up to date on my project. My other issue was that I wasn't heard on my design. I wanted edging throughout the perimeter of my house. When I was shown my design, I had asked the project designer about the other side. I was told the other side would be about the same. When the crew came to do the project, they only did one side of the house. I became wary because the other side of the house was not completed, so I contacted my project designer. Because the design did not include the other side of the house and did not include written details, the other half of the house was not done. It was not communicated in writing that they only work on big project and not small one like mine, which I learned later. Communication is definitely missing, and it is big for me on this project. For the price that I've paid, I don't think it is worth it. It is poor judgment on my part because I have received better pricing elsewhere without the price of the paver for whole edging around my house. This is my honest review.

Extremely knowledgeable! Amazing designers, professional installers. Kind and respectful. This company doesn't mess around. As soon as the workers show up for install, they WORK. They don't just lollygag around, they dish out some Amazing progress. Once the job is completed, it's not short of emaculate. Very highly recommend!!

We could not be more pleased with Donnie Mac’s! From the design phase with the architecture team to the build phase with the hardscape and softscape teams, to Donnie himself, it was a first-class experience. We now have a beautiful patio with landscaping that has transformed our outdoor environment to a retreat that will serve our family for many years to come. Wonderful job and thank you to the Donnie Mac’s team!

Came out to give me an estimate. Didn’t listen to what I wanted and tried to suggest things that I absolutely did not want. They emailed me the estimate about a month later with the trees on it that I told them several times that I did not want. I emailed them back with the adjustments that I wanted, and they responded that they would get back to me to see if the designer is okay with my changes (it’s MY yard, I don’t care if they don’t like that I don’t want the messy trees they are suggesting) and email me back with the updated proposal. I then receive an email that they haven’t heard from me and are just following up to see if I was still interested! So they completely forgot about our prior conversation. They also said they can’t do the project until next year. I wouldn’t schedule them for anything far in advance if they can’t even remember an email from a few days ago. I can’t rate their work, as I have decided not to use this company so I went neutral on my rating. My personal experience was one star. Had they listed to what I wanted, got me a proposal promptly, and been able to do the work this season, I would have wrote them a check today. But all of the above are what clients look for in a landscaper, and this company fell short.
