Update 2 years later: the lawn still looks fantastic and weed free, but it s even thicker and healthier whereas it used to be quite patchy from poor sodding by the builder. My husband and I talk about how pleased we are regularly! Lawn Doctor has been taking care of our yard for probably a year or so now. We had used another company before and just weren t happy with the results. Really happy with the weed control that was achieved for us all through the spring and summer! Especially seeing neighbors lawns littered with weeds. Thank you!

One month ago, I had a conversation with Richard, the owner, while he was standing on my driveway. I conveyed our ongoing frustration with lawn care companies, highlighting their consistent failure to honor scheduled appointments and their tendency to attend to our lawn only when it suits them. Richard assured me that this wouldnt be the case with his company. I told him if they show up on time and deliver excellent service, they would earn our loyalty for years to come. He agreed. I also let him know I am a mortgage broker and would be happy to refer them to the dozens of real estate agents I have relationships with in the area. On Monday 03/17/2024, they didnt bother to show-up, nor did they call or text us. We sent them an email on Monday asking why they didnt come out and when they will. They responded on Tuesday 03/18/24, to our email stating their technician had something come up that prevented him from completing his route. No mention of when they would reschedule! Later, we receive a text saying theyll come out on Wednesday 03/20. On the morning of 03/20, we receive ANOTHER text saying theyll be coming out on Thursday 03/21! No explanation given. Irritated, I called the company and explained I told them up-front about us having issues with these companies not showing-up when they supposed to. As brand new clients, they cancelled on us twice in one week! She told me not one, but two different techs are having issues with pollen. Not buying it. I cancelled their services and would not recommend this company to anyone. In fact, Ill be telling my neighbors and agents to avoid them. UPDATE: Editing in response to the owners reply. You did not notify us of either cancellation. I had to CALL to ask why they werent showing-up. It was on that phone call that I was informed they would be cancelling for a 2nd time. Hang up on her? I told her I wanted to cancel. She replied, Well, OK. I then ended the conversation. Fixed it for you.

Lawn Dr aerated my lawn so I called them and communicated with them that my landscaper was putting Bermuda seed down and so do Not do any lawn treatment until my seed started to grow. But they went ahead without my approval and put pre emergent down killing hundreds of dollars worth of seed. I phoned them to complain and they said they didnt want my Business!

I had a very worst and frustrating experience with Lawn doctor service. BECAREFUL BEFORE HAVING SERVICE WITH LAWN DOCTOR, OTHERWISE THEY WILL MAKE YOU PATIENT . Prior to starting service with Lawn doctor, they told nicely so many things that they will take care of my Lawn by making it greenery and maintaining it healthy with no weeds. but nothing happened. They did service for few months and the grass turned yellowish and unhealthy. After few months I asked one day what kind of service they doing, since i dont see anything better with my grass, He said weeds were there before and he dont see weeds now. But the fact is weeds also I took care of myself by plucking them which he is not aware of. After few months of service, when I complained to them then they scheduled a visit to my home to look at the grass and to discuss with me. He visited in the morning and took some pics of the grass and left. When he visited my home, he didnt even knock my door or called on my phone to discuss. when i asked same thing, he said he called on my phone and knocked my door. but neither he knocked my door nor he called on my phone. When I asked him which phone # he called, he didnt not even replied to my email at all. Fact is he dont have my phone # and calling some other wrong #. My Neighbours they dont have any service with any Lawn moving company but their grass looks very green. Even i told same thing to him, but instead of fixing the issue. He simply ignored saying am not watering regularly to grass thats the reason it turned yellow and unhealthy. I told him am watering regularly to grass without fail. I requested him nicely to fix the issue, since they did service for few months, but grass became yellowish. But instead of fixing the issue, he simply closed my account without my confirmation and with no further service. He just looted all my money for few months with no proper service and messed up my complete Lawn. Now again I need to spend money with a good company to bring back my Lawn to greenery and healthy.

I was considering a new lawn service, and I had seen the Lawn Doctor vans in the community. I researched information and read the reviews/recommendations and decided to go with them. What a great decision! Richard Benbow and his staff are great. They are fast, efficient, professional and very knowledgeable. They are also respectful of the owners and their lawns. They answer questions and return calls quickly. I definitely would recommend them...they know what theyre doing.

This was excellent service from my call to Alicia who handled my care needs to the service by Theo who handled the service. Theo let me know he was on his way, arrived and went right to work. He did an excellent job. I would definitely use the Lawn Doctor service again and certainly request Theo.

Were very happy with the Lawn Doctor and particularly with the service Billy provides. He was professional, answered all my questions, and scheduled a free follow-up service call.

I hired Lawn Dr in Jan 2023. Our main issues were Poa and Dove Weed, which I made clear to Richard. Upon arriving for consultation, Richard never left the driveway to walk the yard. That was a red-flag but based on the 5 star reviews, I decided to hire his services. He did tell me he could not eliminate the Poa or Dove Weed the first year but could improve the situation. I could accept that as long as I was seeing results. None of the spring treatments affected the Poa. It was the worst year ever and took over our front yard and much of our backyard. After repeated requests for Richard to view our yard, he finally came in late May, which was the only visit over 9 mons. I repeatedly called about crabgrass near the street and ditch, which appeared in mid spring. Alecia(in office)told me they didnt spray from ditch to street unless homeowner specifically requested. Well no wonder we had crabgrass! We hadnt had crabgrass in over 12 yrs! In early July, the Dove weed showed up. Nothing that was put on it was effective. I finally resorted to physically pulling it up to prevent spread throughout the lawn. As it stands, I am pulling up Dove Weed on a weekly basis in multiple areas. We still have the original crabgrass, and it has also spread throughout the lawn. In addition, in late spring or early June, Richard had someone drive by our house to evaluate at our lawn. I happened to be home when this occurred. The driver was in a black truck, slowed down briefly in front of our house, then continued on, not even stopping. On 9/11, Theo came by, stopped in road, walked to my door and back to vehicle and left. He put a paper on front door that said he had visited the property and inspected all turf areas. That was it- no comment on the dove weed, crabgrass or condition of our lawn. I know he did not inspect turf because we had a heavy dew that morning and only footprints were from street to our front porch and back to street! Two weeks ago, I called office 3 consecutive days. The first day, I had to leave a message asking Richard to call. On afternoon of 2nd day, I received an email from Alecia that she would have Tech spray again for crabgrass(this would have been the 4th time). I replied back to have Richard call me. When I still didnt hear from Richard, I called again(day 3), spoke to Alecia, & asked that Richard call. After 5 hrs, Richard had not called so I cancelled services. Richard did service the yard as scheduled but did not improve the issues he was hired for and because yard was not properly sprayed early on, we developed an additional crabgrass problem. I found communication to be poor and no interest in physically viewing/evaluating how our lawn was doing during the 9 mons we used them. If you have a problem, you must go through Alecia and good luck getting up with Richard.

The results are significantly better than I received for years with trugreen. Service is generally good and consistent, with the same people coming out, which is imperative when you have a large and complex yard.

Our previous lawn service treated our Bermuda grass with a solution meant for Centipede, causing dead and dying patches. They also failed to address our weed issues. The Lawn Doctor group has properly evaluated and treated the lawn and our Bermuda grass has filled in beautifully, and is now without weeds.

Lawn Doctor of Southern Wake County came highly recommended by several neighbors. Shortly after inquiring, Brendon contacted us and went over the services they offered in great detail, but in terms that were easily understood by someone not familiar with the science behind having a great looking yard. It was this explanation that helped me make the decision to have them treat my yard, and helped me understand the results of the soil test when Richard emailed me the results. Zach was thorough in his explanation of what he would be doing when he arrived for our initial treatment. He finished the treatment and discussed verbally, and emailed us to follow up with what had been done, why it was done, and recommendations for what to do next. Richard then contacted us with the results of the soil test. The explanation was informative, and surprisingly, he explained that while they would be happy to provide the soil correction, I would be able to do it myself if I wanted to. Its rare today that a business owner will tell you youre able, and explain how to do something yourself, when they provide that service. From the Initial Contact with Brendan, to the service with Zach, and the follow up with Richard, I have nothing but good things to say about Lawn Doctor of Southern Wake County. If youre like me and grew up with a father who had to have the nicest lawn in the neighborhood, but you lack the time and knowledge to do it yourself, these are the folks to call! To whom it may concern, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and compliment one of your Service Technicians, Mr. Amarius Degree for the exceptional service performed at my home (48 Chambury CT, Garner, NC) on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. As a new customer to Lawn Doctor, i am overly cautious about the quality of this and future service of which I have committed to a 3 part winter program that would ensure a lust green lawn (fescue) by the end of this year - (#1) crabgrass/weed treatment, (#2) aeration, and (#3) overseeding). The first treatment to rid my lawn of crabgrass appears to be working great as a result of work performed by Mr. Amarius Degree today and on September 6. He was able to clearly explain his work and what I should expect to see as a result of his two applications. I would only hope the technicians assigned to complete (within the next few weeks) #2 the aeration, and #3 overseeding are as thorough and effective as the work performed by Mr. Amarius Degree. I only ask for proper spreading of grass seeds and rapid germination without having to ask for a second application. In today s environment, more workers (if qualified) are in need of some type of acknowledgement from their employer s for outstanding work performance. This goes a long way to ensure a positive retention ratio. You too should be commended for your efforts in recognizing your deserving employees. Again, Mr. Amarius Degree s quality of work was outstanding and warrants recognition.

Theo and Darnell seeded the yard today so we will finally have actual grass instead of dirt. Scheduling was communicated well and my questions were answered. Definitely satisfied with the work (Lawn Dr also sprays my yard for mosquitoes).

We have been using Lawn Doctor since moving to Raleigh, NC. We needed to get our property up to par. They have done a great job. Today Darnell did a wonderful job core aeration/seeding service. Went the extra mile to address the area near the road (it s always a problem area fir us). He was a pleasure & very professional.

I hired Lawn Doctor to help me get a nice green yard. Started with Bermuda because I had so much of it but I ended up not liking vine aspect of it so I requested a change to fescue. Theo s been the specialist going to my place and he s great. Responds and communicates well and is straight up. Still working on my lawn and will update as we move forward hence the 4 star but from the looks and the enthusiasm Theo shows for getting my lawn nice and green, this will most likely be updated to a 5 star. Highly recommend Lawn Doctor thus far, especially if your specialist is Theo.

Lawn Doctor came out earlier to reseed my yard. There were a few patches that didn t take, so, they returned and put down more seed. Theo did a great job of putting down additional seed. Here is my post from earlier Theo and an assistant brought 2 aeration machines to reseed my yard. It was in rough shape and I m hopeful that this will significantly improve my yard. The guys did a great job and provided my with instructions on how to water and maintain my yard for best results. Thanks so much.

I have had better results with lawn doctor than any other company. I have tried several other brands and my lawn has never looked better. Theo is efficient and listens to my concerns in the lawn. There was a problem patch this last visit and I observed him spending extra time to make sure it will look it s best!

Lawn Doctor has taken care of the lawn maintenance of three properties for me over the years, and I couldnt be happier. At one of them, we went from 95% weeds to reviving a gorgeous Bermuda lawn. Recently, Theo and Darnell have been my service techs and have done a great job in a complicated space (no easy, square yard for us!). Big thanks to those guys and Lawn Doctor.

Two gentlemen came to work on my neighbors yard. They proceed to come down the dead end then idlely sit in the way when Im obviously trying to leave me home. Rude. Trying to take my children to school, they do not know how to move out of the way. They take up the roadway, so Im unable to get by. Very rude and unprofessional.

Provided the service I requested in a timely manner. Lawn, weed control and bush/tree service are all a part of the annual contract I use them for. Owner/operator answers my questions when I seek additional information regarding my lawn care. I would recommended them based on my experience with them.

I moved to Garner a year ago into a new construction home. My yard was in need of everything. The front yard had been sodded but I had never had Bermuda grass before. The back yard was just a lot of red clay and weeds. Several people on the Next Door App had recommended The Lawn Doctor. I called and Richard, the owner, answered the phone. He answered my questions about Bermuda grass and gave me a free soil test. He told me about services that he offered and why I needed them. He gave me a senior citizen discount as well. Fast forward a year later and my yard is looking so good. I obviously still have some areas where grass needs to grow but with the right nutrients and advice from Richard, Ive seen a huge difference. No doubt my yard will look even better next year. He is super knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this company to you. Update....2 yrs 10 months later. Im still a satisfied customer. The grass has filled in nicely with no weeds nor crab grass in the Bermuda.. We got hit by Army Worms last fall. I sent Lawn Doctor a picture and Richard came out personally and treated right away, thank goodness. We get compliments all the time as neighbors walk by. Thanks Richard and technicians.

They have provided personal service and were more than willing to explain each service. We bought a house that had been a rental so the lawn was a mess with several types of grass, all kinds of weeds and moles. The owner recommended a way to reduce the amount of fescue in favor of Bermuda by changing mowing habits rather than seeding. So far it seems to be working well. Decided to go with their program for a year and if it works (seems to so far), renew the service. Otherwise, try someone else.

We had Brendan come out for our first lawn treatment a few weeks ago. He was very professional and knew what he was doing. Before, during and after treatment I have referred back to both Brendan and Richard with questions and both have been very knowledgeable and quick to respond. This is a quality company with quality employees.

We have been using Lawn Doctor since late summer 2019 and the difference in our lawn is tremendous. We have a large zoysia lawn which had suffered from brown spot and mole infestations. Not to mention, we had a problem with button weed and dollar weed taking over where the grass had yet to establish. The weeds are under control, the moles are gone, and the zoysia is really taking hold now. Lawn Doctor of Southern Wake is professional, quick, and they deliver visible results. We started using Lawn Doctor of Southern Wake in late June and have been impressed by the knowledge, the service, and the responsiveness. The owner, Richard Benbow, came to our home to look at our lawn and gave us so much information on what we could do to improve the look and health of the lawn. He then took a soil sample, which later told him that our lawn was deficient in lime, even though our previous service was supposed to have been treating our yard correctly. I love how green the lawn is and the improvements we have already seen. We look forward to a long relationship with Lawn Doctor of Southern Wake County!

We called about 6 months ago for them to come out and give an estimate on the service we wanted. We were tired of paying other companies and not seeing results. They were very quick to come out and also very knowledgeable. We have noticed a difference in our yard (healthier and no weeds) and especially our bushes(they were pitiful before this service). I can t wait to see how the grass will thicken up next year! Also this company makes it extremely easy to adjust/change what you want done. It s all online and extremely user friendly. Also keeps track of everything they ve done and what is scheduled in the future. If you are looking for a knowledgeable company with educated employees this is the company for you!

My lawn was a mess, the weeds had really taken over. I tried the over the counter stuff but it seemed to only make things worse. So, I sought some help when I saw how nice my neighbors lawn was. I had previous interaction with Lawn Doctor to deal with a grub and mole problem and they were knowledgable and did a great job. So, I sought them to help with the weeds. They came up with a plan and executed that plan perfectly. We are still in the middle of the plan but the lawn is so much more healthy than it was previously. Im very happy with the direction we are heading. Just a new update through the fall of 2020. As the stated, the plan is working great. My front lawn is now plush and green and NO weeds are around. We are still working on the back yard but I have no doubt it will be as nice as the front in spring 2021. Thanks Lawn Doctor.

lol It apparently doesnt take much to get these guys to throw your business away to a competitor. Should the 2 stars come across misleading, Im actually being liberal with them. Ill explain. This was my first experience with Lawn Doctor. My lawn has gone without proper care for some time, and my green-thumb is pretty much brown. Looked around and saw a couple yards advertising for Lawn Doctor, so I thought Id call. The lady I spoke with was VERY kind and informative (+1 star). She walked me through a few details and answered a few questions. At the end of the call, I was left with the impression that someone might be able to come out in a week to give me an official estimate. Well, imagine my surprise when Im pulling out of my garage to take my dog out and someones pulling down it unannounced. Poor guy--my dog doesnt take kindly to surprise walk-ups. This silver-headed gentleman all but gripped his chest when my passenger lunged with a growl. He does his best to catch his breath and inform me that the purpose of his impromptu visit was to check out the area and provide the promised quote. Somewhat concerned Ill return to heart attack victim lying in my yard, I nodded him through with a few remarks on what we were hoping to accomplish. Begrudgingly giving another +1 star for the speedy, albeit slightly unprofessional response time. But thats where the pleasantries ended. Fast forward to today, Im sitting at my work computer when I receive the quote via email. Richard of Lawn Doctor provides all the details promised, leaving me with a handful questions about their service. Namely, their mentioned use of Roundup to kill weeds. Now, as I said before, Im not lawncare savvy, however, I am dialed into the ongoing litigation surrounding Roundup and the use of glyphosate. I dont pretend to know whats what in the debate beyond what the CDC has provided about it. All things equal, I have an infant daughter and a dog to worry about, so coating my entire backyard in this questionable stuff is a gamble Im not interested in taking. I ask politely in my reply if they have any alternatives that dont use glyphosate, along with a few other questions. Richard replies promptly, answering my queries, and linking me to a couple opinion columns extolling the dubiousness of glyphosate research and its loose link to a few cancer victims. I snickered a bit. Again, Im no buff on the subject, but I know better than to gamble my familys lives on the word of a couple opinion columnists over the CDC. So I, again, politely inform Richard that we simply arent interested in using Roundup and ask, again, if they have any other guaranteed alternatives. My reply must of triggered a worn nerve, because Richards answers are now short, dismissive, and defensive. Richard informs me that he doesnt apply home remedies (I didnt ask him to...?), that his company has done things the way they do them for 50 years, and (quoting here) if our solution is unacceptable, you may wish to contact our competitor. ... Again, I was never impolite, and I definitely never pushed some weird holistic lawncare tone. I came from a place of some ignorance and asked basic questions like Do you spread straw or provide other deterrents for birds and voles that consume seed? Reasonable questions. But poor Richard came to the end of his patience with simply being asked for a different weed killer beyond what I assume hes paid to push. If not for the lady I initially spoke with, this would be one or zero stars. But if you do decide to use these guys, make sure you keep your dog secured when they come by. Not sure poor Richards heart can take another shock.. Edit: Adding a star because Richard did reach out afterwards to apologize and clear things up. Even still, I will be taking his initial recommendation and looking elsewhere.

I usually do not post reviews of services that I pay for but in this case Im making an exception not only because Ive been very happy with the service and value provided by Richard and the crew at Lawn Doctor but because I want other home owners looking for a lawn care service to avoid the hassles that come with the national chains that come door to door selling their lawn care services with pressure tactics. I chose to pay for a full year of service up front and Im a new customer so discounts were applied to my account which made Lawn Doctor come out cheaper than the other services in my area that provided quotes. Ive been with Lawn Doctor since spring of 2019 and I was a little doubtful at first on what type of transformation my Bermuda lawn could see in one season. I was assuming that after a few seasons the weeds would be gone and the grass would start to thicken up because prior to Lawn Doctor I didnt put much effort into it and the lawn was getting thinner and thinner each year that I didnt put a lot of work into it. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my lawn was 99% weed free and lush as its ever been by the time summer came around. I honestly did not expect the lawn to transform so quickly. This is the first summer in years that Ive truly enjoyed my lawn and it holds up to the traffic of my kids and the neighborhood kids really well. I work from home and each time the crew visits I can tell they do a thorough job with the application as well as cleanup including blowing off hard surfaces to remove extra fertilizer, etc.. I would like to add that if you have a lawn that doesnt drain well, has soft patches, or is usually muddy for days after a rain event then coordinate with Richard before they begin their services. They use a ride on machine to make applications and it can leave tracks on your lawn if you have this situation going on, although they do their best to prevent this. Have realistic expectations and understand that in some situations where a lawn has almost completely been taken over by weeds you may actually need to plant grass, sod, etc.. before Lawn Doctors services can truly be appreciated. Richard has always been quick to respond to my emails so ask questions about your lawns individual needs so that you know what to expect financially and what kind of timeline you are looking at to see a real change.

Two treatments in and I can already see the transformation! The weeds are dying out and I have new grass in areas I could never get grass before. Richard has been so helpful answering all my questions and always knows his stuff. All and all top notch service and care. I will be using them for many years to come. I can wait to finally enjoy a beautiful yard!!!

We have been using lawn doctor for a couple of years now and while it started out great it has become so awful as of late. Our yard is so full of weeds our neighbors laugh that we actually pay a company to treat our yard. We have put in multiple calls (almost always answered by the answering service) to have them come out and treat our yard. Either they don t call us back or they tell us they will be out the next day and no one shows up. It s really ridiculous that this is how they run their business. We are basically paying for weeds at this point. We canceled our services with them and will be giving our business to a company that actually does what they say they are going to do.

However, they came out each time for retreatments and eventually they got the problem under control. They have done well with the fertilization. Right now the lawn looks GREAT! I just had lime, fall fertilizer, aeration and over seeding down yesterday. They even do a free soil sample. Cant wait to see the results.

Richard came out and gave me tips on getting my lawn back, was not pushy did not try to just sell me services gave me options to best suit my needs. The absolute most cost effective way of getting the lawn I want! What really sold me was his We are going to take care of our lawn, get it done and no needless applications also we want you to be our customer for the next five years instead of 5 months, like the company I fired, with still two treatments left! I moved into my new home in March of this year. I had about 1 acre of land I needed to seed, too costly to purchase sod for that size area. I was searching for a landscape company and ran across the Lawn Doctor on Home Advisors. Richard came out and made some suggestions on what type of seed would work best. I was only focused on Zoysia, which he recommended against due to the time it takes it to grow from seed. I installed a irrigation system, so watering the lawn was not an issue for me. So I planted Zoysia seed back in May, only to have the the heavy rains in the summer wash away about $1400 worth of seed. I knew I had to start over and decided to stick with fescue like I had in my previous home. I contacted Richard again and he came back out to evaluate what I needed and suggested I wait until September before I try anything again. He talked about his power seeder, which I was intrigued with. I did my research and read reviews about the machine and compared it to other methods like slit seeding. I decided to move forward and Richard came out on 09/22 to seed the lawn with his power seeder. After 1 week, I was more than impressed with the results of the newly grown grass. I did not think I would see anything for the first month. He said I would be mowing my lawn by Halloween. As you can see from the before and after pictures, the after pictures taken on 10/02, 10 days later, Ill be mowing within the next two weeks or sooner! He was very helpful and put my mind at ease every step of the way, since I was so worried about the seed getting washed away again. I would highly recommend the Lawn Doctor for any grass related projects, Im more than impressed with their work!

My wife and I recently hired Richard with Lawn Doctor, after using a few other companies over the last 9 years. Thus far, I can say that Richard has been professional, efficient and the work has been done as if it is his own property. In Years past the companies we have used come out(without notice) and work as fast as they can to get in and get out(what kind of customer service is that), but most of all it seemed as if the lawn never really looked like they initially said it would when they solicited us for their business. Lawn Doctor so far has done an outstanding job in keeping in touch(customer service), the work being done FAR EXCEEDS already that they care about my lawn as if it is theirs. I am looking forward into 2018 to see how my lawn will look through the Spring , Summer and Fall. I will update you again as I see further Changes. We moved from New Jersey to North Carolina a few years ago.
