Look what he did and caused problem for customers

Honestly? One of the worst contracting experiences I have dealt with. We spent, what I feel was a higher end amount of money to add retainer walls below the gapping holes below our fence to make sure my families corgis would not escape. Also asked them to spread some wood chips in the front of our yard for us to put together a raised garden bed. When I first got the quote I was a little taken back with how expensive it was but they had such good reviews and I said hey I guess you get what you pay for boy was I wrong. We clearly asked grasshopper how long of a project this would be simply because my wife and I run a business and we have to accommodate being at our house if the contractors need us. The sales person Blaine said that s not a problem and should be a day project. Great so they told us as soon as they know when they will come they would let us know. Well they let us know but it was less than 24 hours before the actual job time so we scrambled to make plans in being available. The crew got there a little after 9. Worked for all of 2-3 hours. Took a lunch from 12-2 worked for another 45 mins or so then left without telling us. Our fence was completely dismantled we had a massive bobcat in our back yard and tools and equipment were scattered all over the place. At first we thought oh they re coming back but then hours past by and I finally called there office to get an extremely rude response by Becca. She stated that they were done for the day ( no one even remotely told us they were finished they just left with this mess in our yard) and that the project manager said no one was home and he tried to communicate with us about it. That didn t happen I was in my living room the entire time and I pulled the ring cameras just in case I might have missed something but no one came up to our door. She then was very cold and direct stating it s a two day project and they wouldn t be back till MONDAY. Our yard is wide open and our puppies could easily get out. I explained to her the situation and she shrugged off my concerns and basically said this is how we do things and see you on Monday. I was infuriated at that point. I spent close to 9k on this project for this type of service. Now my wife and I have to spend an hour cleaning up grass hoppers gardens mess so we could get our cars out of the driveway and make sure our corgis couldn t escape out of the yard. On Monday the project manager reached out to apologize and then I had to reach out to this Becca individual to ultimately get a resolution. Her response? $300 off ..are you kidding me do the math on the above and how much of a percentage off is that from your project. How much margin did you really shave off for this nightmare of a scenario for a first time customer. She gave me the old sales routine after I told her offering me $300 is an embarrassment for what we had to go through and asked what should they take off to make it right. Why is that MY RESPONSIBILITY?! I own a business and this is simply a tactic to try to save margin on a deal while appeasing a customer thinking if the customer takes ownership in the number then it will solve the problem. I ended up asking for 10% off because frankly unless it was 50% off I don t think I would of been happy. With how bad this whole situation was grasshopper should of felt some pain in this deal. Instead they got my money finished the project and moved on based on what was most convenient for them. Cool you guys got your money but you lost a customer for life. Hopefully it s a learning experience for them because it was for me on who not to use locally. **UPDATE** After their team saw this review their office manager Christy researched this situation and handled it very well. I updated my experience to a 3 star because the original experience still happened and they gave me a refund for essentially one days worth of work as opposed to two. I m still not sure if I would use them again but at the very least Christy proactively did the best she could for a very poor first time experience.

We saw Grasshopper Gardens at the Home Show at HVCC back in the winter of this year, where we requested a quote for a job and had an appointment set up, but nobody ever showed. A few months later, my mother recommended them to us for a different job, and we decided to try again. Blaine in sales came out on 8/14. I explained what we were looking for and he said wed have an estimate within the next day or so; however, we didnt receive it until 9/5. It was significantly higher than other quotes wed received from other businesses. Eventually he talked with my husband and they amended the job to get the cost lower. They were still significantly higher than the other quotes, but they had a very good reputation and my mother had raved about the job theyd done for her, so we decided it would be worth paying a premium price to get a premium service. An appointment was scheduled for Friday 10/18 to meet with Blaine and the project manager to make sure everyone was on the same page about what we wanted. The meeting went fine, and I was told that the job would be done either Thursday or Friday the following week and Becca from the office would be reaching out either that same day or Monday regarding the scheduling. We didnt receive anything from her until an email on Thursday at 4:33 p.m., saying the job would start the next morning at 9. EXTREMELY short notice, but luckily I usually work from home on Fridays, so it was fine. They came out at 9 the next morning and started the work. They left for a long lunch, and maybe 1- 1.5 hours after they returned, we noticed that theyd left for a second time. We have Ring cameras, and the last I saw them was at 2:45. We assumed theyd run out out of materials and went to go get them. Two hours later, we started to worry, because we had plans for the evening and didnt know if we needed to stay home. Theyd taken a fence down, which meant our yard wasnt enclosed and our dogs could get out. There were rakes laying teeth-up in the leaves all throughout the yard, one of them even jutting into the driveway behind my husbands car. If he hadnt noticed it, he wouldve backed over it and punctured a tire. My husband called their office, and got Becca. I was extremely taken aback at her attitude. When my husband inquired as to an update for the job, she told him abruptly that because it was a two day job, theyd be back to pick up their stuff and finish up on Monday. We were very taken aback at this revelation, because at NO POINT had anyone told us it was a two day job. This also wasnt stated in any paperwork we received. Becca was very defensive and argumentative when he responded that we had no idea it was a multi-day job. He explained about the fence being down, the heavy equipment sitting in our yard, and the tools all over the place, and she told us that our salesman Blaine would have explained it was a two day job, that this was just how they do business, and theyd be back as scheduled on Monday to finish the job and clean up. On Monday, they showed up again at 9 and took the day to finish. The end result was very good quality, but it was overshadowed by the lack of communication and the response from the office about it. Becca called my husband and claimed the project manager had said no one was home Friday and he tried knocking on our door. Our cameras show that absolutely wasnt true. The project manager made no such claims to me and apologized about the experience. Becca had offered a cursory and negligible discount, and when my husband reacted in disbelief, she asked how much money he wanted off. IT WASNT ABOUT THE MONEY. It was about the experience. We spent thousands more on this job than we would have anywhere else, and expected that with the premium price was going to come a premium service, and the lack of communication and the experience with the office showed that this just isnt a priority for them. Such a shame, as we have other jobs were looking at for the next couple years, and we will be using anyone but them, and will tell everyone about our experience.

We had sink holes develop behind a retaining wall they installed. The foreman came out to look at the wall and then after getting the run around and no return call backs, he finally agreed to dig up the site to determine what was causing the issue. Instead they sent one guy out with soil to fill in the holes and put down seed. We hired another company to come out and they determined the wall was not installed properly and fixed the issue for us. After years of using Grasshopper, we will never use them again. They lied and did not take accountability.

Ever since we started using Grasshopper Gardens our lawn is the nicest in the area. I am new to the area and bought my dream house. The yard was in desperate need of help. Grasshopper has come to my rescue. The started with mowing, edging, and general start up. Giovanni was wonderful! He explained that my mole problem was not the problem. Grubs are the culprit and then skunks trying to find grubs to eat by digging holes all over the place. I hope I have the problem solved. Natures Way misdiagnosed my problems and were treating my lawns for moles all summer. A wasted 600$ +!! Giovanni is very knowledgeable, sympathetic and friendly. We switched to grasshopper,we were previously using Apex.what a nightmare apex was!our yard that used to be beautiful,became filled with weeds,the yard was burnt no matter how much we watered.when we called apex to come back to do the weeds again,they sent people out and it was like they did nothing.Wveey weed was still there.You never knew when they were coming,so you couldn t make sure sprinklers and things were moved out of the yard.We switched to grasshopper,and the first time they came out,they did more with ONE service than apex did for us all summer.The weeds died right away,they messaged us so we knew when they were coming so we could make sure all the sprinklers and things were cleaned up out of their way,and they followed up with us 2 weeks later to make sure we were happy! I love that they have a website where you can see what you owe,pay for services right online,you can see the what service they re providing during that visit.it s so simple!I m so glad we switched! Grasshopper has been so great!i m mad we didn t switch sooner! Kyle Irving helped us out a bunch a long the way,replied to all our emails quickly,and helped us find a lawn care plan that would work for us! All around great experience! Totally would recommend!

Outstanding service. We needed a special variety of crab apple tree and they carried it. We happened to be driving by ( we live in Vermont) and couldn t get there during business hours. They took the time to call us back when our cell phone call dropped, they wrapped it up in burlap so we could transport in our SUV, and left it out for us the grab after hours. Truly awesome! Arrived on time for fist appointment. the technician introduced himself and went about fertilizing the lawn. Very courteous.

Riley, the technician/applicator from Grasshopper Gardens did a great job. Riley was courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. Generally my experience with Grasshopper and its employees has been excellent. And on the rare occasion where there has been questions or a problem they worked hard to make it right. Overall, Grasshopper has met or exceeded my expectations.

I expected to see more evidence that the grounds had been aerated. Some of the grounds had indentations but some parts none.

We have real grass for the first time in years!

Giovanni did an excellent job yesterday. He was on time, thorough and efficient.

My wife watched through the window and saw that he missed many spots. When he saw that she was watching he went back and added more but never hit the top near the driveway. I have to say that my lawn has not looked this bad in a long time. Problem is that I don t think you re any different than all the big names. It s all about hitting as many lawns as you can in a day.

I just had my lawn aerated and over seeded this morning by another company and my lawn has plugs all over it. I would think Adam would have seen the plugs and asked us or had the company ask us before they applied the stabilizer. I really hope it doesn t make my lawn look worse than it already does. I guess only time will tell. Thank you.
