It’s been a long and frustrating year dealing with this company. Most of the issues started when I called the office and had them adjust my contract to include a large area behind our fence. We wanted it treated because we plan on extending our yard. 5 separate times the yard maintenance technicians arrived to our house and treated the rest of our property except for the newly agreed on section of our property. The first time or two I understood and didn’t get too upset because it was a new section and I did have a pile of about 15 logs stacked up which may have caused some confusion to the technician on site. However, the second visit I did let the technician know that the marked area behind the fence was now in the contract and needed to be treated. I watched him on our ring camera walk to behind the fence for a few seconds then turn around and proceed back to his vehicle. I spoke with a supervisor later and they claimed he was new so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. The supervisor did send a technician back out at which time they did finish treating the yard. After this issue I called the office and voiced my opinion, to which they were understanding and assured me that this issue would be resolved and there would not be any more problems. Also, after the second issue I had all of the logs removed and I put brand new pink and orange fluorescent tape on all the rebar that was marking the area that needed to be treated. It was highly visible and protruded 24” from the ground. Then came the third visit. I checked my cameras when I got a chance because I was at work. When I did check I saw the tech had treated the rest of the property but had again left the new section untreated. I called the office and they told me a supervisor would be in touch after they viewed the gps located on the technician to see whether or not he was in the area being questioned. I did not receive a call back within a few days so I reached back out to the office and got in contact with Rob who is one of their supervisors. He came to my property after business hours and reviewed the area in question to see for himself if there was an issue with the property being clearly marked. We talked for a while and told me that there was absolutely no issues as he could clearly see the area and he was unsure why the technicians were not treating that section of the property. He was nice and gave me an extra treatment for free which was appreciated. Although, at that point I was becoming frustrated and removed the aeration and seeding from the contract. He told me because of the companies errors that he would contact me later with a small discount on the service. I never heard back from him about the discount. It’s been over two months. The fourth and fifth time the technicians came out it was more of the same. I checked the camera and no treatment was done to the yard. I called the office line and complained and never received a call back until I canceled the service. At that point I received a call saying that if I changed my mind I would be “hooked up” but I chose to stop service anyway. I’m tired of having to double check their company’s work and convince them to treat a part of our property that I’m paying for.
We hired Virginia Green to get rid of several areas of weeds in our yard, what happened is that the grass was balding as well. This happened throughout the summer and never grew back. We resorted to pay a service to cover the area with mulch and stone. Needless to say, we were embarrassed of our yard and disappointed with Virginia Green. When I informed them by phone, they repeated what I said “your lawn is getting bald?” with disbelief and promise to have someone come out and access, however only the person that treated the area in a rush came out,
Your company literally killed the grass in both my yard and my neighbor’s yard. (Yes, I do have before and after pictures of my green yard and the brown, dead version). They put down a lawn application in May and within a week, my grass begin to brown. When I complained the 1st time and stated that I no longer wanted service, the phone attendant stated that it must a water issue. I refuted that answer due to the fact that my $600 per month irrigation bill showed me watering. She then blamed it on me not using your version of grass seed. She stated that she’d put the account on hold and would notify the manager. Spoke to Chaz, but there was no clear plan to resolve the issue. The 2nd time I called, your rep (Chaz) came out to state to my Wife and I that, “yes the grass is dead”. He then stated that he would try to work something out to fix it, but it will cost between $2500-$3000. After receiving my service bill for $192.85, I called and stated again that I wanted to cancel my service as my grass was already dead. Chaz calls me and I returned the call and he proceeded to say the same thing about the grass. The conversation turned sour on both sides and I stated that I wasn’t paying this bill when my lawn looks like crap. They never came to my door to discuss the grass and stated that I should have received emails about it. I didn’t receive anything. He stated that I should have researched how they did business before signing up. My neighbor and I both cancelled services. I got quoted $8000 to dig up my dead sod, prep the soil, and lay down new sod. They are an unprofessional lawn company that will not take responsibility for their shotty work. I will get penance somehow.
Virginia Green is fantastic! I believe that they are the best at helping homeowners have beautiful lawns here in the mid-Atlantic region. Our soils, weather, and natural weeds make this area a difficult challenge; but VA Green has figured out how to nurture gorgeous lawns here. I highly recommend them!

Virginia Green is my saving grace. Their estate plan to include tree and shrub service has made my life easier and has gotten me plenty of compliments from my fellow neighbors. What I appreciate the most is their willingness to make sure you understand the processes.
Excellent service
I paid $290 to have my lawn aerated and over seeded. From the time they arrived till they loaded the truck was 15 MINUTES! They barely penetrated the ground. ****The below response from the owner is not acceptable. The person was basically running through my yard and the so called aeration barely penetrated 1/2 inch.
We have been having shoddy service over the last year of treatment with a few no shows and no communication to reschedule. We had to reach out to the company to inquire when the treatment would be done each time. I tried to work through the no show appointments a few times but the latest situations have us looking elsewhere. We received a text with a scheduled treatment for 8/24, in which they were a no show for. No communication from the company that they needed to reschedule. I gave it until Tuesday and had to call them to ask when they planned on making up the appointment. It was finally completed on 8/28. This was shortly followed by an issue with our over seeding and aeration. As somebody else has stated in their review, the two gentlemen who came to do this process were here for maybe 10 minutes. The person out front flew around on a riding aerator, cut corners, and didn t come through to hand aerate all of the areas he missed with the hand tool (verified by the numerous exterior recording devices we have on our home). There was no over seeding done on the front and sides of the property. The person who did the back did a great job, however, that is where all of the over-seeding went. Our backyard was covered in grass seeds (it was even all over our patio). I called the company to discuss the areas that were not fully aerated and the fact that most of the over seeding was done in 1/4 of our yard. They asked me to email pictures which I did and I was told they were putting in a ticket on 9/12. By 9/17 I had heard nothing so I submitted an inquiry online. Received no response. 9/19 my husband was tired of waiting and called. They said we were on the schedule for tomorrow which should have been today 9/20. AGAIN zero contact or communication from the company and ANOTHER no show. They used to be great but we will now be switching.
Virginia Green is contracted to perform full service for our HOA here at Barley Woods, Fredericksburg. They did a very poor job of pre-emergent lawn care and regular weed control this year. We have crab grass and may other weeds actively growing everywhere! Terrible job Virginia Green! Maybe the management should take the time to pay this community a visit!
When we moved into our new home four years ago, are sod was all brown due to the fact that we moved in during a very hot June Virginia green came and told us to give them a year and they would help us get our lawn to where it needed to be. We have now been with them for 3 years and our lawn is the envy of the neighborhood. It is thick and green and beautiful and to be able to do that in this Virginia clay that grows pretty much nothing is nothing short of incredible. Their personnel is considerate, always remind us when theyre coming to handle a treatment, and if for some reason the weather affects the service, they let us know and always consider our busy lives when they reschedule. They always ask us if theres anything else they can do for us. If you want the best lawn possible, there is no one better. We would never let anyone else touch our lawn. Ann & Bob

The last 2 years I used a different service. Yard was fabulous but price was high. Switched to Virginia Green this year. Yard still looks great and price is considerably less. Time will tell. To date I am very pleased.

We are now in our third year with Virginia Green s lawn services, and are exceptionally pleased with their products and services. And while we had tried to tend our lawn and property in general with care, it was quite a task maintaining the seasonal fungicides, insecticides, fertilizations, etc. We d even tried another company at one point and was disappointed at the results. The Virginia Green commercials literally persuaded us to at least give them a try; we re elated that we did. Since working with Virginia Green, our lawn resembles a thick, green carpet; the turf is beautiful, and we are often complimented on it. When I discovered they also provided treatment for shrubs and certain trees, despite the fact that we were using another service for our trees, decided to contract with them for that service as well! What a Godsend! I used to spend hours treating my plants; now, I watch them grow beautifully as they re tended by Virginia Green s horticulturalists! Their staff has been exceptionally great to work with, and we think they re the best!

Three years ago our grass had multiple large bare patches as well as an abundance of weeds in a few areas. I needed help to turn this around. A neighbor highly recommended Virginia Green. I set up service that September and expected to see the results by the following spring. To my surprise the grass was beginning to fill in and the weeds were gone that fall. Prices are comparable to other companies & each Va Green employee I have seen has been courteous to include closing my gates for my fur baby.

Robert was great and alerted me when my puppies greeted him in the back yard. He is very thorough and makes sure the gates are locked when he is leaving. Also the yard has never looked better!

My lawn has never looked better. They do great work, their other lawns down the road look very nice too. If I had a watering system my lawn would be perfect.
Have had very good results with Virginia Green services out the many years that I have had taken care of the weed control in me lawn. The only issue that I have had is when one of the Techs told me that Virginia Green didnt spay for crab grass, which I found out not to be true because when I asked the office and another Tech I was told that the issue would be taken care of and it was.
Had some nutsedge and some weed grass that was sprouting. Technician came out and sprayed and was knowledgeable about the weeds.
Had other service and they were GOOD. Virginia Green is GREAT! Others homes in my area switched after seeing our lawn. Workers are courteous and inform us prior to starting the service.

Virginia Green is a complete ripoff, at least the crew in Fredericksburg is. First treatment was good, they actually applied weed killer to the yard. The subsequent treatments were quick quick with just enough chemical in the water to let us smell it. The weeds loved it and came back with a quickness. I fired them after three visits. Stay away. If Google allowed no stars that would be my rating.

We switched from being 10 years Trugreen customers when we moved to a new development in Stafford. We have been customers now for 3+ years and are very happy with our lawn and get lots of compliments. Our builder scraped all the good soil so it has been a process to build it up every year. Robert Lamas helped me out a lot by giving me great advice every time I would get to see him and I followed it every time. This year we upgraded to the estate package and I noticed a huge difference in my Japanese beetle population and have very few bushes/leaves devoured!
We used this company for a year. I did not realize when my husband signed up for it that it goes on automatic charge to my credit card. well, a year later when we go to cancel it because it is too expensive now and we have other more important bills to pay, they refuse to let us cancel and KEEP CHARGING OUR CREDIT CARD!!!! the sales guy kept calling my husband even on a Friday evening when my family and i were out to dinner to stay with them. all the while they kept charging our credit card. i even had to dispute the charge with my credit card company and they tried to charge it again and keep i guess sneaking to our home when we arent here to service it???? we have not even seen them come yet get charged. now we have invoices coming with past due amount and INTEREST being charged!!!!!! i called them myself to dispute and they did not care and kept saying we owe them. such a horrible way to service customers and when bills are lax again and we are back to being able to afford lawn service again, we will NOT be using this company!!! just awful and unethical. oh and the harassment of all the mailings too. geez people!

Cancelled my service I had since spring of 2021. Had aeration and seeding done in August of 2021. The yard looks terrible. The little bit of new grass that grew never looked healthy and is now brown and the yard has grassy weeds and numerous bare spots. I called about these concerns and was told it takes time. My yard is an embarrassment. I was told give Virginia green a year and you will have a beautiful lawn. What a waste of money. Terribly disappointed in the lack of concern and help from Virginia green. I have posted pics of my front yard.

I found Green Virginia team very caring, professional, punctual, and polite. I have been benefiting from their over-seeding, aeration, and anti-weed services and can recommend this company to any one who wants a quality job with a good price. The reason I am leaving this review is Virginia Greens excellent customer service. Their regional manager, Yujin, immediately responded to my inquiry and paid a visit to my property in less than 24 hours after I told then about seeing an empty bag of their materials near my house. He came and collected the bag and checked the area to make sure his crew did not accidentally leave any thing behind. This experience proved me that they genuinely care about their customers and our neighborhood, and encouraged me to continue having business with them. I can compare Green Virginias quality and professional job with a terrible experience from a local provider (I prefer to not name them here). I high recommend this company.
I sent two emails requesting a quotation for a fairly small job, removal of bushes, including a picture. I received no response. After that, I called and left a detailed message. Still no response.
My yard was inundated with weeds and I was ready to rip out the sod and replace it. I hired Virginia Green as my last resort and now the yard looks great! The clover and crab grass have all but disappeared. I wish I had used them from the beginning!
DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! They were hired a few months ago when my mother believed the job was too large for her current lawn guy. The lawn was beautiful, looked like a green carpet of Zoysia. My father nurtured the lawn, he worked at a golf course after retiring and his lawn showed his hard work and knowledge. Thursday they came by to overseed and aerate. Whoever did it ruined the lawn. It was very wet as the yard is heavily covered by trees. They spun wheels in the yard in about 8 places leaving divots, mud, and mess. They also left a bag of seed for sunny lawns! I am cancelling my service, demanding a refund and money to repair the yard. They have also been barred from my property.
I am very happy with the service provided by Virginia Green. Rob at the Fredericksburg office was up front with me about how bad my lawn was and what steps would be taken to improve the lawn. He even guaranteed a greener lawn at Christmas. And he delivered! I now have grass growing where never before and in less than 1 year. I can see an amazing difference. Looking forward to 2020 and an even prettier lawn. Thanks Rob and all the technicians at Virginia Green.
We have been using the service for approximately a year and have been very satisfied with the service in all respects. Our lawn looks the best it has every looked and I like having the service on auto pilot so I dont have to remember to schedule or call for service. They arrive and do the work without being intrusive.

Very responsive and professional. They always give me a heads up on the days theyll be arriving. I also receive a text or phone call when theyre on their way. After two treatments, my lawn already looks better. Crab grass is dying and lawn is looking more lush. Definitely recommend!

Virginia Green has a One Size fits all approach. No yard is the same. Each yard has different sunlight, different soil and different type of grass, they show up and treat for 3 min and leave with no real unique inspection to the lawn. I was looking for a partner with my lawn and TG is not it. My grass was beautiful before they started and now I m embarrassed by it, I should not pay for this service. it is just throwing away money. I have pictures of before and after of my yard and it s it s a total disaster.
Great company, great service, and great individuals
I have used Virginia Green for a year now. At first, their work was great and treatment seemed to be working. After this last Spring and Summer, they had a lot of turnover, and I had to do all of the footwork to get them over to perform service. Im not sure what theyre using, but my lawn looks worse than when I first hired them.
First season using service. Have always received a call before service. Technician sends an email with lawn status and suggestions. My lawn looks better then ever before!

An excellent job on our aeration and seeding. They always do a great job. All the employees I have met or talked to are professional and friendly.
We had VGLC for awhile and after months of service we saw absolutely no real improvement. Called and spoke to the manager out of Fredericksburg office, said he would come by and look at our lawn in November 2018, he never came by and never said anything to me if he did. In December 2018 they called to say we were coming out and we told them DO NOT COME OUT, they SHOWED UP ANYWAY. They DID NOT help out our lawn or trees and cannot follow simple directions. On top of that they are NOT backed by the BBB. I wonder why. Do your research and do it yourself, it may not be cheaper but youll have much better results.
I love this company so much. I tried Lawn Doctor and True Green and had bad experiences. This company is actually helping my lawn and they are so pleasant to deal with. Whoever treated my lawn on June 3 2019 was fantastic!

I ve experienced educated personnel who are genuinely friendly and honest. Rob, the guy who sold me on they re lawn care program was not pushy or presumptive. Eugene my lawn technician is friendly and keeps an open dialog with me about how to maintain my lawn after each application. And the very nice lady in they re customer service department knew exactly what to do when I called with a concern about the changing condition of my lawn. I ve been nothing but pleased with they re pricing and customer service. I would recommend to a friend or neighbor.
