I ve worked with Dennis, Joel and Jon. All very helpful and knowledgable. They have done quality lawn and landscape work for me.

Dennis Detmering is great to work with. Very knowledgeable in all aspects of his position. My yard has never looked so good.

Hired smitty s for big project last year, their crew cut our cable cord 3x, just left it and didn t notify us. Decided to give them another try a couple weeks ago. Whoever does the quoting and handles the billing is awful. We got billed double than what was quoted. When we called about it she said they waived the bill which was not true. Then the guys backed their dump truck into our mailbox. They just left. We were told they were Spanish speaking so didn t know to say anything which I think is a super ignorant response. I m glad to see others in the deerwood area using other lawn companies and we will be doing the same.

Late fall of 2021 we went into talk about having the landscaping in our front yard done. Had the design drawn up. Agreed on a few changes and paid the down payment. Planning on having the work completed in early June 2022. June came and went and we had called many times each time being told well be there next week. Finally in mid July they show up to do the work. Took 2 days... called after it was done to inquire about some issues with the work thats been done. Dismissed and acted as if it was no big deal and touched up a few of the things that were inquired about. Not satisfied with the work we did not pay the total bill immediately after the work was completed as we were hoping to get things done correctly. (That did not happen) so the bill was paid and no poor review was left as we were all just over the ridiculousness of it. Here we are not quite a year later. 2 dead plants and apparently they replace the plants but you have to dig the old ones up... then re-plant the new ones.... why did I hire you to do the work if I wanted to do it myself? Many of the plants you sell come with a guarantee... so Jamie comes out to look at the plants we need replaced today. Then says its 75$ to have them replaced or theyll give us new ones if we come get them??? What? Do you not know the definition of guarantee? Also the shabby work that was done is outrageous! The previous flowers that were in the area prior to their work are growing through the weed barrier they put down. Completely unacceptable! I have weed barrier in my back yard thats been there for 20+ years that nothing is growing through because its thick like youd think a professional would use. So between what we asked to have done basically being ignored and they did what they wanted and now I need to completely fix their awful work myself... why did I waste my money in the first place???? Terrible service! Awful customer service and lack of empathy when nothing is done correctly. Choose anyone else!!

Highly recommended by a friend. So looking forward to my new steps. Pictures were sent to me and it will be amazing.

We spent $1800 for them to do landscaping for us. It has been a nightmare. Half the plants have died. When they originally did the project they had to return to fix the spacing of the plants. They sent us a picture of what we project would look like. Today it isnt even close to what they told us it would be. We contacted them and they said sorry your warranty is up. The project has ne er been even close to what they said it would be.

Jon and Dennis do a very good job at customer service and provide a quality product. Always available when needed.

Honest, hard working crew, and great service. They helped me after , another landscaper in the area didn t complete the job, and some of his finished work was substandard at best. But Smittys not only helped me with all the mess, they turned my yard into an oasis. Thank you all for everything and Jon thanking you for everything you did.

It is good place

Best greenhouse in the area. We drove there over an hour one way get plants. They have outperformed everything else we got this year and the staff there is super helpful they dont ignore you and assist you with any and all questions.

We had Smittys do a weed treatment on a rental property and remove some bushes. The weeds died without killing the lawn and there is little evidence that the bushes were ever there. I thought they did a good job.

Jon and his crew provided great service along the way for a number of different items for our business and home. I would not choose any other lawn and landscape company as the prices are fair and they focus on over delivering on the goods and services they provide.

I dont ever write reviews but this seemed important to me. We had hired Smittys back in July to clear out a bunch of rock and roots in our backyard and put some grass down. Once we got our estimate we decided to hire them. They required 30% down and then the rest after it was done. So we go in talk it over and I ask them when wed be able to do it, I was on maternity leave until August 7 and was hoping to get it done before I went back to work. The girl said she had to do some rearranging of the schedule but said they should be able to do it before then. She said she would call me to get it scheduled. 3 weeks goes by, I got back to work and I never get a call, I thought ok thats fine, they must be really busy. I decided to wait another week and then I emailed the girl simply asking for an update on the scheduling. No response. Waited about 2 weeks before I sent her another email. No response. My husband called them and left a voicemail. No response. So I sent a private message on Facebook. No response. Havent been able to go in because they close at 430 and my husband and I work. I call them once again and someone answers and says they will call me back once they get back into the office. No call back. Finally my husband has a day off so he goes in there to get our money back. The girl says theyll give us a call that next week when we can get our check. She never calls so my husband goes in that next Friday. It had been over 8 weeks since we left the deposit. Needless to say we got our money back but was VERY disappointed in the lack of communication. Will not be going back. There was also no apology whatsoever.

Smitty s has an excellent product at a good price. The staff are very professional and experienced in all aspects of landscaping and lawn care.

I was mad at first when my girlfriend signed us up because I felt like they took away my man card haha but they do a great job so I cant complain. You can tell they really take pride in their job.

I reside at a complex here in Fort Dodge and Smittys does the lawn care. Worst lawn care company I have ever seen !! I used to do lawn care part-time when I was younger .... so I know what quality work is. Smittys does do a great job at laying the grass over .... not cutting it, but laying it over. Lack of maintenance with keeping their blades sharp. They mow the yard like its a hay field. Way too tall. When there is garbage in the yard, rather than pick it up, they mow over or around it. Fallen branches in the yard .... instead of picking them up and sitting them at the curb, Smittys mows around them. A good lawn care co. who takes a little pride in their work ensures a yard is picked up and looks good when they are finished. Not Smittys .... No pride there. I could go on, but suffice it to say ... I just dont understand why anyone would use them.
