Hurr Vasa, James, the entire crew, and subcontractors all did excellent work -- what began as a small fix-our-porch task blossomed into a tremendous improvement to the entire front of our house and property under their planning and guidance. Hurr Vasa's team coordinated with multiple vendors, subcontractors, et al, communication was great, pricing was fair and competitive, the work progressed quickly and professionally, and clean-up was thorough. His goal was to create something that we wanted, we went through several iterations of the plan over several visits and phone calls. Arturo and his team had such finesse in building our rock wall, leveling paths, and creating beautiful lines. We recently hired Hurr Vasa Sprinkler and Landscape to transform our front and backyard, and we couldn't be happier with the results. James came out to estimate a small backyard project in Old Town Fort Collins after another company wouldn't give me an estimate after a site visit. Received our quote promptly and it was one half of a quote we received last year from another company. Made my down payment and Dan and his crew were out here within a week. Everybody was great at what they do and very professional. My wife and I are extremely pleased with how it all turned out. We had Hurr Vasa demo the site, put in a new sidewalk and then create three areas of breeze, mulch and grass with irrigation. Thank you, thank you thank you. Now we get to enjoy our back yard for the rest of the summer.
I want to be fair and say they were on time and the crew that reimagined our backyard beautifully. The overall project lingered on an overstacked Hurr Vasa schedule due to a limited employment base (which I do not fault), incorrect plant material, lack of tools for individual tasks, etc. I will also shoulder some of the delay issues with having to travel out of town for a family illness. I had several conversations with our lead, where he took no notes, despite at one point me asking if he should be taking notes, and believed that we were on the same page. I blame myself for trusting him to plant what I asked for, execute the landscape plan I had asked for, and potentially not being more firm. I am sure that you can tell by the photo's that the North and East backyard landscaping is quite beautiful; however, the looks completely shade the real story. The spiral trees were erroneously placed (they were supposed to be placed in three spots that I chose with the lead of my project to help block the neighbor view from my picture window in the kitchen), the drain spout took three callbacks to do correctly, incorrect plants were ordered and had to be returned, and reordered-I am still not convinced that we weren't charged double on the delivery fee for this, broken flagstone was not only laid but left as that were acceptable, one of the posts for the sun sail had to be redone, I have 3/4 plants that died or are dying and was told to wait till spring and they will be replaced as they fall under the warranty. The sprinkler cap-off and restructuring took three or more times to get completed due to lack of communication, is what I was told. I am sure there is more, but I am overwhelmed with the details. Moving to the front South yard, the small area near the sidewalk... The plants were not placed where we had discussed and not placed right until two callbacks and excuses from the lead. The backyard and the small front section were part of the original 'new' landscaping. Here's the deal, because they are nice and polite, mostly, I asked them to do a clean-up of the front yard and honestly, the only reason I feel the need to tell you about my experience. I have a small manicured area near the porch and an even smaller landscaped area on the SW edge of the driveway. I asked for these two areas to be weeded and refreshed with new mulch. Not only did I have to call them back for leaving debris and old leaves behind, a light mulch refresh, and removing a Colorado native plant, they destroyed my Colorado state tree-my gorgeous 30+-year-old Blue Spruce (pictured). The blue spruce is NOT a pinon pine, which thrives in its beauty trimmed this way; it won't grow back, and was not to be touched. I was told, "my bad", the new crew didn't know, and the leader said he would take $500 off the overall bill for the clean-up and the sprinkler fix. The first bill for this work was, IMO, highway robbery for the clean-up and offered a mere 10% discount for forever ruining my Blue Spruce. I emailed them to complain and heard nothing from anyone for nearly a month, then I got more apologies and offered a 30% discount, which still was less than the lead had promised initially. I emailed them again in between yet another trip to NE to help care for my ailing mother-in-law and an emergency trip to care for my daughter in KY, who was put on bed rest at 22 weeks pregnant. It's been two weeks, and we have decided to pay the bill as is and leave it be. I had to write this as a warning to you. The crews I spoke with and mostly worked on the significant project were friendly, respectful, and on time. I cannot, however, in good conscience, recommend the company. The seeming lack of concern for my position (mostly about my tree), the $$$ spent, the apparent void of integrity or customer service, etc. *the picture of the spruce is an older one, as the landscaped area in front of it has changed since this picture (which Hurr did not do). This is what 'she' looked liked before Hurr chopped off the bottom 5 feet of her branches.
Fixed a programming problem on our sprinkler system that two other companies said required a new control box. Informative, professional, and courteous. And saved us the cost of new equipment and labor. They serve high end clients yet treated our little problem like we were their most important client. Highly recommend!

Really should talk to your employees about traffic safety (50 in a 30?) and cell phone use while driving.
Nate showed up on time and fixed more sprinkler repairs / issues than I thoght possible in less than a half day of work. When I got the repair bill it was more than fair. Great service, got to work and the job done , no excuses or dilly dallying.
Hurr Vasa recently installed our sprinkler system. James designed the system and Dan and his crew did a great job of installing everything. Once complete you could barely tell lines had been buried. As a part of the final inspection/testing of the system, they even made adjustments to the original zones to ensure coverage in all conditions. Very courteous and professional throughout the entire process.

We contracted with Hurr-Vasa last year to execute on a landscape design for both the front and back yards at our house in midtown, Fort Collins. This was a near complete makeover, including xeriscape landscaping, new concrete steps, ponywall, and walkway, a new deck, and installation of an irrigation system. We scraped the surface and started over. We are pleased with the results and are enjoying watching the new plantings emerge. The new landscaping adds depth and new perspective to both front and back yards. It s a thrill to move through this new space. Landscaping to this extent can be trying and requires patience, communication, and commitment by both client and contractor. Hurr-Vasa did their part. The staff excelled at showing up when they said they would and performing the transformation we had requested. The landscape architect who ran the job was responsive, calm, and articulate. Both crew and management communicated well. When contacted they responded. The follow through was solid. The project manager provided working solutions to the various problems of geometry and proportion that inevitably crop up. He guided us through a couple of issues that had confounded us. This job had a number of parts that required other contractors: someone to build the deck, another to tear out the pony wall and steps, then replace them. Other specialists were needed to apply the new facing stone and to design and install the steel hand rails on the front steps. The Hurr-Vasa project manager located and subcontracted with those other trades due to his experience and tenure in the community. Early in the job it was clear to me that we had found the right outfit to work with. This was not our first full scale landscaping project so we had already experienced the sticker shock accompanying this much work and materials. If you are unfamiliar with these costs please take a calm look at the proposal and talk with your project manager. Breathe. I give Hurr-Vasa high marks. My only frustration stems from the same issue facing all the trades on the Front Range - a thriving need for workers. This is where our patience paid off. Hurr-Vasa stuck with the job and completed the many tasks to satisfaction. We will continue to do business with Hurr-Vasa.
We have used Hurr Vasa for various jobs over the past several years - Planted new bushes and tress with drip lines, built a new walkway, performed several winter sprinkler blowouts. Theyre not the cheapest in town but theres a reason for that. You get what you pay for. Good quality, professional service are worth it!
Hurr Vasa completely redesigned our front and back yards including sprinkler system, sod, landscaping, patio, dry creek, etc. They were awesome. Not only did they do a great job, they were responsive when questions came up. Even years after their service they are a text or a phone call away whenever something comes up.

We had a wonderful experience working with James Long of Hurr Vasa on our large landscaping project this spring from the initial design process all the way through to project completion. James team handled many projects for us, including replacing our front garden bed (with both hardscape and plants as well as re-routing drip line and burying gutter downspout), planting additional trees, pouring a cement sidewalk spanning the entire side of our house (including a trash can storage pad), pouring a cement pad for the A/C, expanding our concrete patio and covering both the old and new part of the patio with concrete pavers, building and installing a gas stone fire pit (including trenching from the front of the house for the gas line), installing smart lights on our patio and along the cement walkway, creating two garden beds in the backyard with a drip line, and replacing inefficient sprinkler heads with high efficient smart sprinklers. From the first meeting and until the job was done, James was professional and attentive to our requests while also suggesting additional ways to improve the projects while staying within our budget. The end result of our patio is gorgeous, and so much prettier and better done than we even imagined when we first sought out help with our ideas. James patiently met with us and explained his reasoning and ideas and kept us updated on his work and expected completion times. There were never any surprises, and if something in one area ended up being a little more expensive than initially planned, he found a way to reduce our costs in other areas. The final cost was right in line with the initial estimate. His team also did high quality work and addressed all of our minor changes along the way. They worked impressively fast as well, especially given the multiple surprise snow storms we had this spring that required adjustments to the plan and redoing some of the concrete work. All-in-all, we were very pleased with how James handled any hiccup along the way and with his desire to make sure we were happy. We cannot say enough good things about our experience; we would absolutely recommend him and his team to anyone looking to do landscaping projects.
James and his crew (lead by Aurturo) did a fine job and I would use them again, and recommend. James was motivated and proactive, helpful as we brainstormed, and communicated promptly. Artys team was hardworking, conscientious, and enjoyable to have around. We did have a few minor tweaks that needing addressing at the end of the project, but both James and Arty were quick to respond and resolve.
We hired Hurr Vasa to landscape our Old Town property and they did a great job. The scope included design, installation of a large paver patio with a gas fire place, stepping stone pathways, sprinkler system and new sod. They were professional, timely and responsive. I would definitely recommend them to anyone considering a quality landscape contractor.

I never had a issue with Hurt tree trimming. My neighbor had her tree done and the man working was indecent and rude thought he knew it all did not lison to what she wanted. I believe his man name was zach. Her trees are ugly now . And I guess we have to wait a couple of years before they we can enjoy them again Hope we live long enough to enjoy them again
We had Hurr Vasa come do a sprinkler survey of our yard. Proposed and fixed all of our watering issues. They were amazing. Great response with minimum tearing up of the yard. New sprinkler heads work fantastic!

I have called 3 times to get help with the system they installed and they won t call me back. I had them install my sprinkler system several years ago. I feel like since they already have my money they refuse to work with me anymore.

We are very satisfied with the work they did at our home but I was even more impressed by their willingness to help us work through some other issues we encountered throughout our project. Their customer service was excellent and I would strongly recommend giving them the opportunity to work on your project! They provide the kind of service you hope to receive from a contractor. Theyre a quality company I would recommend to anyone with a landscape or irrigation project.
By far the most rude people I have ever seen. Well I was sitting in the bank drive thur they pulled up beside me and turned on the leaf mulcher. Sending dust and leafs everywhere. Just had my car washed and you couldnt tell. Would not recommend for anyone and would never use their service. I even called the company and still have not heard back from them. The most unprofessional lawn company I have ever seen. Ive asked Nick and Jason for years now for them to STOP coming on to my property from the HOA area. They come on to my lawn were they have been cutting into it so low that kills it. They also weed eat a line between the two that they go so deep into my lawn its into the soil. This has been an on going situation forever and they refuse to listen. Men that will not do as there asked by people who pay them.

The reply from Hurr Vasa is just a CYA response. Those photos were taken 2 months ago in the hopes of them sending a tree expert out to see what was happening. THEY SENT NO ONE, and made no reparations for their costly installation mistake. At present, 75% of the tree is completely brown and has no needles. SEE PHOTOS BELOW. It is not a case of waiting for the tree to establish. It is a case of dying after an initial season of gross under watering because of their faulty installation. We did NOT overwater the tree. It has been watered in the same way, and via the same system, as the remaining trees, the rest of which are doing very well. It is simple. This tree was badly damaged due to negligent installation of drip emitters, not replaced along with the other two that were also badly stressed and dying, and it is now almost dead. We have lost not only a tree we cared for, but also over $700 that we paid to have that installed. My warning to other consumers stands. ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for your landscaping needs. I am giving it one star solely because the designer came up with a great plan, and was nice to work with. Hurr Vasa installed our backyard landscape early last June. By fall, 3 of the 4 pine trees they planted were well on their way to dying, because they installed the wrong emitters and, over the very hot summer, the trees received only a small fraction of the water they should have been getting. The one pine that survived did so only because it was at the bottom of a slope, so it somehow received enough runoff water from other areas. We informed the designer as soon as we realized what was happening and thankfully he took it upon himself to recommend replacing the two worst pines (almost entirely brown), an action that management was not happy about. When those trees were dug up, it turned out that one of them still had the thick burlap around its base, and the other one had both burlap and the metal frame that held the burlap on! We pointed out that a third pine was also looking badly stressed, but we were asked to wait until Spring to see how the third tree would come through the winter. By late Spring, it looked dismal. Not even the tiniest bit of new growth was on it by late June, and it never did get any. It has basically been dying this whole summer, although we have worked hard to try to save it. Trees need a lot of water when they are newly planted, so they were just too damaged by the end of last summer. Now, in spite of photos, calls and emails repeatedly sent to make our point, the owner refuses to replace it. No one has even come to personally have a look at it, despite our requests. We spent extra money to have larger trees put in, so this is a BIG LOSS--two seasons worth of growth and a lot of money. We are now going to have to pay to have it removed and replaced. This is very poor professionalism by Hurr Vasa. Theyve been callous and greedy, especially when the fault was completely due to their own negligence. WE WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM.
This company is contracted by my former HOA to provide snow removal and landscaping services in my neighborhood. Besides the pile of snow they pushed into the middle my driveway, (after I had already cleared my driveway myself) the giant pile of snow on the corner they created blocking drivers s views of cross traffic, the pile of snow they pushed onto my sidewalk, them not showing up for almost 24 hours after a snow storm that dropped 14 inches of snow, or the fact that they haven t even attempted to clear several other sidewalks in my neighborhood 36 hours later I CANNOT recommend this company!
Reading thru the reviews here it seems as though this company only does great work for mostly residential customers. They do a terrible job with my subdivision. Last Summer they let all of our lawns die and become brown rotted horrible looking eyesores. They did not water for over half of the Summer and their snow removal services are even worse. They drop buckets of ice melt at various locations and just expect the residents to do it themselves. And as for shoveling, we never see them until late in the day when most people have already shoveled for themselves or its melted. And then they do a half ass job of it with no regard or caring of peoples property. I would not recommend them and I wish our subdivision would get our old company back.
This is the second spring that I have had Hurr Vasa design and install landscaping for my home in Loveland. On both occasions, this professional contractor has listened to my thoughts, designed an approach and then implemented the agreed-to plan. Most importantly, the foreman on site for this contractor has spent the time required to discuss his approach to the work and has bent over backwards to help maximize this work. I am delighted by the care and attention, not to mention the professionalism of this professional firm.
Came out to see one of the mow crews mowing a parking lot perimeter that was gravel* discharging it all over my car without a single care. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional
I wanted a berm for the corner of my front yard. They were able to turn my ideas into reality. I am very happy with the quality of their work and professional staff. From the office manager Tanya on the phone, the owners who did the bids, and the staff that did the actual install it was a very smooth experience. I will use them again for future landscaping projects.

I recently employed Hurr Vasa to make major changes in the landscaping of my front yard. Working with Arik on the re-design and with Brandon on the implementation was a pleasure. Im delighted with the result. The whole process went smoothly with great communications and follow through.
Terrible customer service. Work ended up being 23% over their highest estimate with no discussion before completing the work and invoicing me. I called 5 times before a manager returned my phone call and only left me a voicemail saying they wouldn t even discuss the issue with me. I wish I had used another business with better service and better integrity.

Their work is great so please before you continue reading this review please keep in mind that the men and women who do all the physical work for this company are amazing and do great work... That being said,, the accountant ,, Tonya is a very rude and condisending individual... She loses time sheets and puts the blame on the workers,, she misplaces checks of the very hard working employees and then refuses to get new checks made out to them on a timely manor... She is very snippy to people who call into the company... If it wasnt for her,, this company would be the perfect company...
Why go anywhere else or use any other landscape service. Hurr has completed 2 projects for me and 1 is several years old now and looks fantastic and is easy to maintain. All the plants have survived and matured and the planning is spot on. Thanks Graham Maggie Melisa Atereo Jason and the rest of the crew that deserves a thanks from a very satisfied customer!
