It is difficult to overstate the value Angel Leal and his crew provided for the removal of five trees, four nuisance trees and a large white oak from our backyard. We started with permitting the four nuisance trees, but had concerns about the white oak and wanted it evaluated as well. We asked for bids from five tree companies on the nuisance trees and talked to all of them about the oak. All but two of the bidders noticed nothing of concern regarding the oak tree. One company, whose employee is a certified arborist for municipal work, indicated that the oak needed attention, including trimming lower branches and cabling the tree. He opined that the oak needed this attention rather urgently due to its fragile condition and the risk of failure this winter from ice and snow. When asked if the oak should be removed, the arborist hesitated but said that its condition is healthy, but it doesn't have to be removed. Unlike any of the other arborists, Angel noticed cause for concern on the health of the oak tree right away as he approached the house, even though it was located in the back yard. While he did not push the discussion, he was attentive when we asked about his recommendation on the oak, just like we did with all the tree companies who suggested the tree is fine or just needed to be cabled and pruned. He was most concerned about signs of fungus which we had not noticed. Angel pointed to the co-dominant stem structure, a typical growth pattern for white oaks that inherently weakens the central stem union and creates a structural vulnerability. He also noted signs of infection and decay, even though the tree does not show outward signs of deteriorating health. This compromises the vascular integrity of the tree. He pointed to co-dependent and significant lean and canopy distribution with both trunks, compounded by extensive sunward branching and canopy weight distribution which increases the mechanical stress and intensifies the risk of structural failure. Angel did not recommend cabling the tree because he worried that its condition was too advanced to warrant the cost when it is unlikely the tree could survive its current stressful condition for any reasonable period of time. Cabling would work only for a couple of years at best and then we would need to remove the tree - effectively doubling the cost since costs for cabling and pruning were comparable to the cost of cutting the tree. We applied for a permit to remove the white oak. After inspection, the City’s arborist suggested the tree might be at risk but there was not enough evidence of fungal infection or decay to approve the permit. Angel followed up and spoke with the City arborist and expressed his concern for us having to pay essentially twice as much for the tree to be removed since cabling and pruning would provide only temporary relief from the stress and disease. The arborist asked for a Level 3 assessment and Angel went to work with pictures to support his contention the tree is too diseased to continue with a healthy growth pattern and would certainly fail. The permit was approved shortly thereafter. Angel and his crew were highly professional both on and off site. It was clear he had earned the respect of his crew, and he appreciated their competency. Angel took extra time to research helpful ways to reduce the cost of our project by salvaging the wood as firewood or in the case of the cherry trees, as potential marketing for smoking meats and cheeses. His pricing was very competitive, and he saved us several thousand dollars by pressing the municipal arborist to consider the cost to the homeowner and the risk of allowing the diseased tree to remain standing in their approval of application to remove the oak. Angel is a highly knowledgeable, dedicated arborist with a passion for helping customers not only with tree removal, but also other landscaping design projects including retaining walls and concrete work. These guys came out and completed a very difficult tree removal of some large and tall cottonwood trees. The trees were close to houses and powerlines and were removed safely and promptly. I would highly recommend Tripllle for any residential tree projects.

We used Tripllle LLC for quite a few projects this fall, after we decided to redo our back yard. They leveled an old putting green, built a new low stone retaining wall to match an existing wall, planted a bunch of laurel hedging for us, built and installed a lattice on top of our fence for privacy while the laurel grows, sealed the entire fence, and put down artificial turf in a section of the yard. They were great to work with, and everything was done in a professional and timely manner. They also straightened out a bunch of issues related to our sprinkler system, which was done by a different contractor.
