RTEC Tree has been taking care of our front Zelkova with biostimulant treatments for several years now. We had extensive front hard and landscape construction completed around the Zelkova, and the tree came through beautifully with no shock whatsoever. They recently pruned our Zelkova, and they preserved the shape of the tree. Upon pruning, they noticed a nest of 3 baby squirrels in the crook of two of the limbs. They respected that nest and notified me that they worked around the nest. Thank you, RTEC! They also removed 4 dead or suspect limbs from an oak tree adjoining our back yard. The limbs were hanging over our fence and house. They cleaned up all the debris after carefully lowering the limbs without damage to our patio furniture and grill. They respect the existing new landscaping. RTEC has also removed diseased trees from our property over the years, including an oak tree from the Resource Protection Area (which was not on our property). They worked with Fairfax County to file all paperwork to remove the tree which posed a hazard to the surrounding homes including ours. RTEC has all the equipment to deal with any tree problem and their crews are pleasant to interact with. Ben Gotch has been our consultant and he is tuned into the homeowner. Very detail oriented and thorough. He kept us apprised of our service especially if scheduling modifications needed to be made. RTEC arrived on time and finished the jobs in an efficient manner, cleaning up all the debris. I very highly recommend RTEC for all your tree needs.

Ben helped me assess our sickly oak tree and decide on a plan, which ended up being removal. When the crew came to do the job, there were very professional and left my yard looking great. The stump is exactly the height I requested, all of the plants under the tree were left intact and healthy, the crew cleared walkways of debris, and they worked with my request to have a few branches and rounds from the trunk for my own use. All communication was timely and they even handled a technical issue with their equipment with professionalism and courtesy. Ill absolutely be calling RTEC again with any future tree concerns.

Work was done efficiently and quickly with state-of-the-art equipment which did not damage the lawn and shrubbery or make much noise, especially the chain saw. I was amazed at their effectiveness and the clean up was done so that it was impossible to tell that any work had been done.

RTEC has pruned our 50 year old, 30 foot willow oak twice and it always looks happier and healthier afterwards. RTEC has taken care of our much-loved Sakura cherry tree for the past few years. We just engaged them again earlier in the summer and they came out to assess the tree within a week, scheduled the work within a day after, and performed the work the following week. The tree grooming is perfect - exactly what I tried to convey. Pleasant office staff, but of particular note is Ben, who came to visit and assess the tree - he followed up with me every step of the way and with humor and kindness. I should note that I was widowed in between this and the previous visit by RTEC, and although I have gotten the widow tax from several businesses who dealt with me much differently (in a negative and more costly way) than they did my late husband, RTEC did the exact opposite. They made it easy, didnt push for anything unnecessary, and were reliable and professional, and did that all with kindness. Will definitely continue to have our tree serviced by RTEC.

RTEC was very easy to work with. They sent a knowledgeable arborist to our home to evaluate all the trees on the lot. We knew which trees we needed taken care of, but Ben really helped us understand the health of all the trees on our lot and he was definitely not a high-pressure sales person. (And, the arborist visit is no cost.) The crew that came to do the work was excellent. They showed up right on time and did the work methodically and safely. They were polite and cordial and seemed to work well together. Tree work is expensive but if you have a heavily-wooded lot, its not an option to delay it. To wit, later in the day after the crew left, we had a a giant thunder storm with high winds. I wasnt worried about falling limbs even once! All-in-all a very good experience.

RTEC was at my house today to removed a large Magnolia that was badly damaged by the recent snow. They did a fantastic job at a very reasonable price. They arrived right on time, worked efficiently and quickly and cleaned up so well it was hard to tell anything have been disturbed. Over the past several years, I have used RTEC for all the services I checked above, and have always been very pleased with their service and professionalism. I also appreciate that they are not eager to take down trees that dont need to come down. In this case, the damage was too extensive for the tree to recover.

We had a large tree brought down in a storm recently. I have never had to deal with this so I spoke with my insurer and they sent me to RTEC. I worked with Ben. They were so responsive. They called quickly and came the next day to give the estimate. Ben was knowledgeable and explained everything to us (even warning us about some poison ivy in our yard). There was a lot of storm damage in my area, so I was expecting it to take a while, but they said they would come as quickly as possible. They actually came out the next day. The tree was gone before I knew it. I highly recommend them and will definitely use them in the future for any tree needs.

This fall we used RTEC for a second time (after five years) to trim about 10 trees, most of which are close to the house. Ben, their exceptionally nice arborist, prepared the work order after listening carefully to my concerns. The crew of four included one lead who operated from a bucket truck plus two climbers. I recognized two crew members from five years earlier. The crew consulted me about details including issues about one tree near a concerned neighbor s yard. They handled the people issues with great skill. Another neighbor hired them after seeing their work. This firm has lots of experience with corporate clients and the National Park Service. They said they would arrive at 715 and they rolled up 713! They came in quick and efficiently removed the tree from my house. The cleanup was amazing you couldnt even tell there was a tree down...well except for the holes in the roof of course.

Complete waste of time. Made an appointment on their website and received confirmation. Drove from VA to my new house in MD and they never showed up. Why? Because apparently theyre closed. Why allow me to make an appointment and rearrange my schedule for a day youre not open?!

This is the third time that Ive used the team at RTEC treecare. I live in a DC rowhouse and have a 40 diameter tree trimmed and cleared of dead branches for every 3-5 years. Ive been working with RTEC for several years now. I originally hired them to remove and trim some trees. The arborist I worked with, Ben Gotch, is knowledgeable, courteous and very professional. He was candid with his advice about care for our trees and based on that advice I kept a tree I had originally planned to remove. (You know the arborist cares about the trees if he recommends less work!) Several times after that first visit, I asked Mr. Gotch to come over and provide advice about additional concerns. He was always very responsive. I had an aphid problem in a very large maple tree near my driveway that was covering our cars in aphid dew. He recommended a protection program for that tree that worked in one season and that has kept that tree aphid free since. RTEC is a high quality company that does high quality work.

I asked RTEC to come and look at a very large tree that was leaning against the roof of my house. They assessed the situation and advised me that the tree would need to be removed. In addition two other trees in the yard were dead and needed to be removed. Because the tree beside my house was so large, the staging was quite complex. But RTEC took care of everything including scheduling with Dominion Power. The electricity had to be cut off and electrical wires had to be lowered. On the day of the tree removal, the team arrived at 8 a.m. with equipment including a crane. They safely and efficiently removed the three trees in an orderly fashion. They also did an excellent job in cleaning up the yard following the removal of the trees. I was very pleased with the professionalism of everyone at RTEC and will definitely use RTEC in the future for the care of the trees in my yard.

Great experience from our first meeting with Arborist Charlotte, to Enrique s team s great clean up of the tree debris. Charlotte assessed what tree trimming would meet our needs of removing branches overhanging our house and keep our neighbor s tree healthy. She promptly sent a detailed quote, with the tree removal separately itemized from the tree trimming. Charlotte was also very responsive to my many questions. Scheduling was easy. Enrique and his team did an amazing job with tree trimming/removal. They were punctual and professional. Their expertise in dodging wires with dangling limbs was astonishing! The team was safe and well coordinated. All the neighbors appreciate how careful they were and what a great job they did with clean up.

After getting 3 estimates, I decided to go with RTEC Treecare even if they werent the cheapest because I felt more comfortable with the knowledge of the arborist, who discussed in detail the particular plan for our trees. Everything went smoothly--workers showed up on time, did the work as specified, and left everything very clean and picked up.

The team arrived on time and did clear the biggest dead tree branches and trim them but they did no trim any of the shrubs or remove smaller tree branches that had been damaged by the cicadas. They were always polite and professional and very careful to clear up all their trimmed materials. A tree fell on my house during a storm. I called my insurance company in the middle of the night, and the owner of RTEC was at my house before 7 a.m. He got a crew out there that morning, and they removed the tree without any further damage. They also put up tarps and cleaned up thoroughly, and they were professional and courteous throughout.

From start to finish, RTEC has been 100% professional, highly skilled, and easy to work with. Our experience started with Charlotte, the ISA Certified Arborist who came to assess the trees on our property after we saw aphids on our crepe myrtles. She assessed everything with a practiced eye -- including some sort of boring insect that was chewing up an oak tree that was hanging over a neighbors house. She created a proposal that was flexible and met our needs. Nick handled the scheduling of the crew and answered all of our questions. We had to borrow our neighbors driveway for the truck, and RTEC had an online form that made the waivers easy. When the crew coming to take down our tree had a sudden opening in their schedule, the evening shift even called our neighbors to confirm the next day would work for their needs. For the tree crew themselves: they knew their job, they were fast, and they clearly liked their work. Arlington properties are tightly spaced, but they were able to take down the tree with zero collateral damage. They did great work pruning a large tree of mine. My only complaint is the price. Looking back at the whole experience I feel like I was taken advantage of and most definitely over paid. Make sure to really understand all of the details before the job starts... time commitment, crew size, equipment, permits. I made some incorrect assumptions and ended up paying thousands of dollars for 3 hours of work. Pretty sure they didnt even get a permit to block the busy road next to my house. I thought I was paying for this type of stuff with the high price tag, but I guess not.

Arborist Ben was very thorough in his assessment of the large oaks on our property and was mindful of our need to keep safety for our small children a priority as we scheduled a routine pruning. The crew worked hard and when Luis knocked on the door to let me know the work was complete, I noticed a smaller dead branch still hanging overhead and pointed it out to him. He was quick to apologize and he took care of it immediately. I did have to call more than once after initial contact was made to follow up, but this was around the holidays so they may have been a bit understaffed. RTEC might have been more expensive than the drive-by tree services, but after talking with their arborist (Gotch) I had a much better feeling about the services they would provide (warm and fuzzy). And they preformed as anticipated with careful professionalism. Recommended them to my neighbors who went through the drive-by scenario where falling limbs broke their bug zapper and knocked out lights.

RTEC responded promptly and effectively to trim a neighbor s multi-branched Silver Maple and reduce the threat of dead limbs dropping on my property. They worked to eliminate the dead limbs while preserving the health of the tree. While access involved a bucket truck, the intrusion was limited and all tree debris was removed for chipping. We had a crew of 3 come to our home (Jose, Enrique, and Pedro) to take down a dangerous 50+ year old tree in our front yard. the 70 foot tall tree was slowly dying on the inside. At one point, previous owners had filled the trunk with cement and had girdled the limbs with cable (I guess their poor attempt at stabilizing). Branches had started to fall off in storms, and I think we were lucky it hadnt already come down into our daughters room. I cannot express enough how wonderful the crew was. They were quick, safe, and efficient. It took a lot of skill to take down the tree without hitting the house or damaging the power lines, and they never came remotely close to either. Branches and sections were secured before removal eased straight down to the ground. They set up signage on the street, they were wearing proper and bright safety gear, and they worked in tandem like they have been doing this for many years together. They were very professional, and cleaned up before they left. I was told they would come back the next morning to haul away the wood that couldnt be chipped, and Jose was halfway finished before we even realized he was there! The only way you could tell they had been there is giant space that used to have a tree. On top of that, our 3 month old daughter wasnt bothered by any of the work...Jose managed to not wake a sleeping baby at 7:30am while hauling the large sections away...kudos!

I have been using RTEC Treecare and arborist, Ben Gotch, for my trees and shrubs since 2009. In 2009 I was looking an arborist who would devise a plan to keep my then 25 old red maple healthy for years to come. Besides pruning the tree when needed Ben developed a root and soil management plan. He also advised putting in two cables to maintain the structural integrity of the tree during heavy wind storms. Best decision I made since not long after the cables were installed we had a derecho. My red maple had no damage!!

RTEC came and cut down trees, then came back to grind down the stumps. The fact that they informed me of a cut wire during the grinding process goes a long way in my book. Many companies would not have been honest about that. They came back to repair it in no time. I would like to give them 4.5 stars only due to the time gap between the tree cutting and the actual stump grinding. Other than that, I received excellent service.

Fortunately, I received a postcard in the mail right before we had a tree emergency outside our home. I researched several companies, and was thrilled that I went with RTEC Treecare. Ben did his free consult as advertised - super easy to self-schedule online, and offered honest advice and information - no hard sell. The RTEC crew did a fabulous job taking down a large Siver Maple in our front yard. It was in a tricky spot with power lines on two sides. The job was accomplished with great skill and care. I needed help with pruning but also advice on health and future issues from growth. Ben G. was very knowledgable and patient; his geeky passion for plant life was endearing and comforting that their concern was for the plants and not just doing my bidding to get the business. RTECs free estimate was unlike other free estimates by not being pushy or salesy, but rather informative and friendly. They worked with me on my budget and timing, and the crew that came out to do the work were quick, polite and clean. Overall great experience with a company that was personal and responsive.

We had a major (27 diameter) limb fall on our driveway, partially crushing our car and causing some damage to our roof. RTEC got a crew together and was there in a few hours, and the crew worked for about 4 hours in the rain. They were amazing! They were extremely skilled and careful to prevent any further damage to the house or car. When they were done removing all the debris, they got out rakes and a leaf blower and cleaned up the area beautifully. We could not have been more pleased with their work.

The RTEC team reported on schedule, and began work as expected. Proceeded on work according to the proposal, and completed timely and tidied up nicely. Especially happy that they all had the appropriate safety equipment, tools, and clothing to keep themselves safe as they worked in the trees and on the ground. Have used them for probably 10 years, and will continue to do so because of their expertise. After Snowmageddon and the Derecho ravaged a 30-foot maple, they brought it back to life (rejuvenation, I believe they called it) rather than having to take it down and leave a huge 4-ft-diameter stump prominent in my front yard. Well done then, and good job most recently. Thanks to the team and the arborists that know their jobs!

This is a very professional tree company and weve used them a couple of times over the years. For the most part were very pleased with the service and quality of the work, but feel their response time and follow up could be better. We had someone out July 27 to give us a quote and accepted the proposal in early August, but did not hear back until the end of September with a scheduled date for tree trimming. They did come right away to treat a bug infestation, but we were not home when they came so we have no idea how to know if the treatment worked and whether the cost was worth it. The tree trimmers, however, did do a terrific job!

I noticed some dead branches and a fungus on our cherry blossom trees- which we love dearly- and called RTEC Treecare in a panic. They got back to me quickly and sent someone out the very next day to inspect the trees and offer suggestions. Thankfully the fungus was not the death sentence I thought it was and theyve trimmed and fertilized my trees and they are looking better than ever. Highly recommend them!

I recently had RTEC Treecare perform some extensive tree pruning on our property. The work was completed ahead of schedule and accomplished in a very professional manner. The crew foreman was thorough in his assessment of the work order, the crew members were diligent and careful in performing the work, and clean-up was well done. On completion of the work, the arborist returned to inspect that the work had been completed to my satisfaction. I recommend RTEC Treecare for residential tree pruning services.

Received extremely expensive quote for 4 hours work. Quote was for elderly owned property. Person providing quote appears to be either: mislead or dishonest person. BEWARE

We bought our new home in July and are the proud new owners of one of the largest, most beautiful Willow Oaks I have ever seen. I was very concerned about the care of this tree, I didnt want to do anything to compromise it and everything to keep it healthy and thriving. RTECs arborist, Ben, came out and surveyed the tree to help us learn how to take care of it. He was very knowledgeable and provided us with valuable information and recommendations. We scheduled to have dead wood removed and a light root treatment. Everything went well. The crew was professional and courteous and did a fantastic job. We will continue to use them to care for our trees for what we hope is a very long time!

Had a great experience with RTEC from start to finish. I made my inquiry through their website and got a fast response. The arborist came out and listened attentively to my concerns and answered all my questions thoroughly. He gave me a quote which was followed up by a contract via email. Our service was performed about a month later and they did a superb job and cleaned up well. We will use them again for another huge tree in our yard.

I was very impressed by the professionalism and the response time of the entire team. They took down two large trees in our yard and did so quickly and, more importantly, safely. They left almost no footprint behind as well. Would definitely recommend RTEC and use them in the future.

RTEC removed a large limb that had fallen into my holly tree. They provided a quick estimate, the job was completed the next day without damage to my holly and at a reasonable price.

RTECs Arborist Dan came out to my property to look at my Japanese Maple. I love the tree so much and Dan was able to spot a girdling root at the base. He dispatched his team a couple of days after I signed the contract. I wasnt home when they did the service and was happy to see the yard clean when I came from work that afternoon. What a great service! Dan even sent pictures of the uncovered roots to show me what the issue was when I asked.

When someone knocked on my door and said that my tree was dead, I was ready to have them take it down for fear. Someone recommended I call an Arborist first, I called RTEC Treecare, they were out to my house in the next couple of days. The tree was dead, and they had to remove it, but fortunately RTEC did it because there were power lines running through it and they made sure it didnt damage the power lines or my house. They know their job.
