We set up a $75 design appointment with the hopes of coming up with good ideas for our homes retaining wall. Tom McVean came to the appointment and said he would send us photos of a similar design he thought would look good. We didnt hear from him for over a week. When i called, he did not answer but i left a message and he simply sent an expensive quote with barely any information for what was being proposed. I called him and he once again said he would send me photos. We never heard from him again, its been over a week. Frustrating. Horrible customer service.

Go get some plants

--We bought and paid for a tree, and found out they sold it to someone else when we called to schedule delivery!-- We purchased a tree for a special occasion and paid for the tree and delivery up front. However, when we called to schedule delivery and planting, we were informed that Merrified had put our tree back out on the lot and sold it to someone else! Yes, we paid up front, saw them tag the tree with our name, were told they would hold it for us and take good care of it, and had talked to the staff in detail about the delivery timeframe which was even written on the receipt and circled. This was particularly disappointing because we had spent hours looking through the trees and had finally found the one that we wanted. Merrifield took our hand-selected tree that we had already purchased, and then sold it again to someone else without even the courtesy of a phone call or contacting us. During this ordeal, we had a glimmer of hope when they said they had found our tree ! But this was soon to be squashed as they had just picked another tree and stuck our name on it. No, Merrified: Each tree is unique and has its own character, and you can t sell the same tree to multiple people and then just replace them with another tree that happens to still be on the lot. We picked Merrifield because we thought we would get a great product and professional service. Unfortunately, Merrifield does have the premium prices, but is severely lacking when it comes to customer service. We won t be returning to Merrifield after this unnecessary and extremely disappointing experience.

Had an positive experience at Merrifield Garden Center near Mosaic! The greenhouse staff went above and beyond with my struggling Monstera plant. They not only took the time to repot it for me but also provided detailed care instructions. Their patience and expertise were truly impressive. The level of personalized service made me confident about caring for my plants going forward. Will definitely be returning for all my indoor and outdoor plant needs. This is exactly the kind of knowledgeable, hands-on help that makes local garden centers special!

I have a business. I went to buy sod. When i saw yhe sod i talked with the teller she said if fresh from yesterday. The sod was yellow and brown. Then i buy. My customer was mad for that kind of sod. I return part of the sod. When the a other teller recibe the sod. They tell me that was for a bad pallet of sod. And tell me is a other complaint with the same problem. Appreciate it the second the honest of the second teller. The bad thing is lie like the first teller just for sell. Also is bad the company sell bad items. They dont give me guarantee of the sod.. But my customers get my guarantee of the sod because i respect and appreciate it my customers.

I m a frequent flyer at the Merrifield Garden Center in Fairfax VA and have shopped here for years. I often describe this particular garden center as my happy place. It s especially been an important stop for me post divorce. From shopping during the holiday season to supplies and plants, this store does a better job than most, and if not all, in our area. Staff are top notch and they know their stuff. That being said, buyer beware! I m personally able to afford premium products and service from time to time. However, I recently came face to face with the reality that one item I purchased (a sprinkler) recently wasn t just marked up, but was double the price at Merrifield. A $50 sprinkler at Ace Hardware is $100 at Merrifield. And not a similar sprinkler, but the same make, model and color. Now, again, I m ok with paying a premium in some circumstances, but this is retail malpractice. Wondering whether their affiliation with companies like Dramm (US built) would support them charging so much above MSRP. PSA: if you don t care what things cost than this is your store.

I love coming here for the huge selection and they always have what I need. Some of the staff are very friendly and helpful but I was disappointed with an interaction with one of the staff. He asked me if I needed help looking at azaleas and I mentioned I was looking for certain varieties that are fragrant. He said azaleas don t have fragrance , I replied some of them do and he responded with the most sarcastic and condescending well gOoD LuCk . Has he personally smelled all 10,000+ varieties of azalea?? There are in fact several fragrant varieties that aren t exactly rare (I ve encountered them in person, also it s a 2 second google). He could have at least said that they don t carry any fragrant ones, or had a conversation with me about it, but he just assumed I don t know what I m talking about and made me want to leave immediately without buying anything. I can find one somewhere else.

Merrifields always has a terrific selection of plants and advisors to help me choose the right plant for my growing conditions. If I lived close by, I would stop here all the time. But I do not, so I plan my visits around trips to the airport or Falls Church so that I always make time to stop.

Wonderful place! Fun to just wander through the plants, but plants, buy supplies, or even decor.

Amazing (if at times, overwhelming) selection. A great way to spend a time warp, as you will, no doubt, forget to check your watch. A bit perplexed by the no returns policy with the greenhouse plants. Its a very strong message. Maybe a gentler approach would be better? Something like, were here to help, so your plant shouldnt die... I still bought one... a baby mimosa! I had fun!

Dont fall for the service of we plan you plant! I paid my $75 for a consultation for my HOA. We want something to beautify the community but at this point we are just in the planning stages so wanted a recommendation from a professional for what to do and what to plant....they came spent about 30 minutes walking around and I said, we wanted ideas on what to plant how far apart trees should be how many trees and where the best places given the amount of cleanup. A week or two later I get an email that they don t want to bid on our cleanup project......which isnt what I asked for...I asked for a plan...Im not even getting reimbursed by the HOA since we now have to find someone to help us understand what to do!

If you need mulch and need it fast, go here. Merrifield Garden Center can provide you with quick service and deliver the mulch straight to your car. We got 6 bags of hardwood mulch and were in and out in 5 minutes flat... Cant beat that!

Merrifield Garden is one of the largest nurseries in the area. They have a large assortment of things for your yard/garden. The products are well maintained by a large contingent of extremely knowledgeable staff. They have plenty of staff available to assist you with your purchase. I am always impressed with how packed their parking lot is on both weekend days.

First thing, all of the people who work at Merrifield gardening are very helpful, and all will do their best to resolve your questions. Years ago, I had Merrifield plant a bunch of bushes, and they did a great job. This time I went to get a scoop on top soil and a few bags of others. I didnt have to ask or even touch anything. Truck loaded and another happy customer.

The smallest of the three Merrifield Garden Centers but certainly nothing to sniff at. There is always more than enough selection. I am very happy with my Quince I got the other day. Always very knowledgeable. Thank you John for your help in choosing my Quince.

Almost everything I need in one place for all of my plant setups!

This is a great place for all things plants and landscaping. It is so beautiful to just walk around and take in the beauty. A very large selection of plants for your home.

Good choice of trees and lovely, knowledgeable staff

We have always love MGC and purchase our Christmas tree, garlands, spring plantings and a variety of miscellaneous items from them for over 25 years. On Tuesday I walked in to purchase my annual two large containers of Preen weed preventer and the price was $69.99. The last time I purchased it last year and the cost was either $39.99 or $42.99. I looked online and found the same thing for $32..29. Home Depot had it at $38.99 and priced matched me. I saved over $70. Seriously MGC I love you but that is taking inflation way too far. You may no longer be my first stop. Very disappointed.

Nice place, but we drove a distance after calling ahead of time asking if they had a certain plant and they said yes, but when we got there... they did not.

Got there very late with a self-created problem using bulbs I bought on-line (because most nurseries do not carry saffron crocus). Two employees were VERY generous with time and advice, settling my anxiety and allowing me to see a way to help bulbs survive. Priceless . . .

I found an amazing new to me, fern. A crocodile fern. FABULOUS!!! Always a good selection in the greenhouse for those of us who need to get a little dirt on our hands even in winter!

This particular center is really great to walk through, they used an older building and they have different venues as to a museum fill with beautiful merchandise and curiosities, including a variety of plants and flowers of course and the stuff that makes them grow! Prices are a little high but worth a visit.

This location is my least favorite one of the 3 I have been to. House plant section is too small, and the plants are crowded in there and in very bad shape. Many had really bad spider mites and dead leaves.

Well staffed, and a generally fun place for plant people. If it goes in a yard or garden these people can help you with it.

A little pricey, but, amazing place.

Fist time visit and I will certainly be back. I interacted with at least 7 staff members and everyone was amazing. They were friendly, knowledgeable and patient with questions. Selection was out of this world and it only comes down to how much room you have in your budget and in your vehicle EDIT: Adding pictures of flowers in the ground with stones, still need more rocks and mulch surrounding them.

Paid to have a design created, agreed to pay to have completed and they were unable to execute the design that they created. I ended up having to rework this myself. Thought by paying the premium, the service would be good but I was mistaken.

One can usually find what they are looking for- you just have to ask. Their selection is excellent. I like the wide range of the common to less common plants. I would suggest they make an bigger effort to offer beverage selections as it does get hot out there.

Expensive for many items but top quality

My husband and I are obsessed by this place. The selection of plants, flowers, shrubs, herbs, trees and pots is outstanding and the staff are experts in all things that help you find the right thing and keep it alive!

Could not be more thrilled with Madison, Dan (plant clinic) and Tim (tree expert). Went above and beyond to help me out of a tough situation with large dogwood. So grateful for this business and their decades of service to NOVA.

Great place to get outdoor and indoor plants, but very expensive. Their indoor plant selection is limited due to a smaller greenhouse- I prefer their Fairfax or Gainesville locations. Make sure you check the house plants for pests before you buy! I ve seen several with spider mites or mealy bugs each time I visit.

If you love gardening, this is the place to go. The staff are super helpful, knowledgeable and kind. I could spend hours here. The plants all looked healthy and separated nicely by shade and sun. They also have decor and other items for sale.

Overpriced plants that rapidly die, and returns not honored due to excuses. I bought 4 shrubs and 4 planters, 2 from Home Depot for $350 and 2 from Merifield for $1020. The 2 from Home Depot are doing great. The 2 from Merifield died after a few hot summer days, 3 months after I bought them. When I bought the shrubs from Merifield I was told they had a money back return policy. When I went to return them I was told the return policy would not be honored, as the planters were not the correct size. I bought the shrubs and planters from Merifield, that the Merrifield staff recommended, and now I am being told the planters were wrong. At least I still have the planters, for Home Depots plants.

Decent selection; I am glad this has not turned into a condo development. Almost all items can be found elsewhere for at least 15 percent less. Its funny that they have experts on-hand to guide how to get rid of bamboo, yet they sell (invasive) bamboo!! I shop here if I cannot find what I want anywhere else. I brought a plant in one time (which was still in its container) that a friend gave me 6 months prior - to ask the experts to identify the plant. They did identify it, THEN they accused me of theft! (of course, this was a 20-something accusing a 60-something).

Needed to exchange a tree of the incorrect variety which was purchased for a client. Returned a 10 tree, identified the correct variety, loaded new 10 tree and transaction completed in 17 minutes total onsite. These folks are the absolute gold standard of customer service. UPDATE: Bumped to 4 stars since Merrifield did follow up to this review in a responsive and thoughtful way. And the tree planting itself looks to have been done well. I just hope they improve the communication to customers about their yard being marked out for utilities. Ordered 2 small trees + planting for my back yard. Found a stranger in my back yard 1 week before delivery date... turned out to be the utility marking company. Had not occurred to me this would be needed, since trees are at back of my property which borders forest. Fair enough, but wish Id been informed. Turned out they had requested my ENTIRE 1/2 acre property (back, front, sides) to be marked out. Utility person had to trample valuable plants and newly seeded, rain-soaked lawn in completely unnecessary areas. Utility person told me that they can be requested to mark out only specific parts of a property, e.g. just back yard, or even back right side. I called Merrifield to ask for the marking to be scaled down to just the area of the plantings. The woman I spoke to was completely dismissive. She (a) lied that its the law to do the entire property, when I had just been informed otherwise by the utility person themselves (and my Merrifield order specified back yard, so location was known). And (b) dismissed it with I always tell people the property will be marked out, which was completely irrelevant since the employee that served me did not. When I politely suggested that was a training issue that should be worked on, it was once again dismissed. When a garden/landscaping company is completely dismissive to valid concerns about damage to your yard caused by their actions, choose a different company.

Great service and a great variety of pkants

Over the years Ive spent thousands at this place. I can say they are competent and provide a good service. They have never been inexpensive, but in the last years their prices became ridiculous, This year the gouging has skyrocketed and they are simply a RIP OFF. They charge $12.99 for a small bag of their home brand topsoil. An outrageous sum since you can get similar for less than $3 at the Home Depot, nearby. They have determined that there are enough affluent people around who dont really care if Merrifield Garden Center picks their pockets. I am not one of them.

We had an Elizabeth Magnolia tree planted by two gentlemen from the MGC Dunn Loring team. They were so quick and did a very clean job. Both very professional. We appreciate that they kept our grass neat despite heavy rain. Thank you to the two guys!

Sold what we bought before delivery. Bought and paid for a pallet of stones but they sold them to someone else. Made a special appointment to speak to an expert but the person I spoke with was not knowlegeable. Called about the availability of some plants/trees and was told they had them but they were not available once I got there. Have a big project but will no longer purchase anything from Merrifield. Sad because it used to be an excellent nursery.

This place sells a wide variety of plants, pretty much anything you want. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is an onsite advisor who is very knowledgeable and provided us with useful information. Price seems reasonable. They also provide plastic covers for your car to keep the dirt from spreading. Plenty of parking but can be busy and packed on weekends. Kids really enjoyed seeing water plants, e.g. water lily, and gold fish.

This place is huge and has an amazing variety of gardening materials, flowers, plants, and the like. I had been there the first time and really enjoyed looking at all the different choices since gardening is new to me. Im giving it 3 stars because I went there a second time, and both employees that helped me were condescending when I told them I was starting to garden for the first time though the guy at least was a bit nicer about it. The second employee who helped me extremely condescending and talked to me like I was a child. The first thing she said to me unfortunately was an insult to what I was wearing, which was ridiculous and unprofessional. I was a bit surprised because for one thing, thats not the type of behavior that I was expecting, but also because that hadnt been my experience the first time I went. Anyways, as beautiful and amazing as the place is, I wont be patronizing it any longer.

Merrifield Garden Center is a place where you can find anything plant. The grounds are large and filled with beautiful flowers, plants, herbs, trees, bushes and shrubs. Supplies from basic clay pots to watering cans to attractive pottery pots to tools ... anything you can think of to help your garden grow, youll find it here. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable; they go out of their way to help. There is ample parking on the grounds. The only problem? It will be hard for you to limit what you want to take home!

Friendly staff. A large selection of plants!

We hired Merrifield Garden Center to build a good-sized flagstone patio in our backyard, improve the walkway path to our front stoop and the beds in our front yard, and transplant some trees. Our entire experience with MGC was first rate. Tom was the project manager and design expert, and from our first consultation he had excellent ideas and clear vision that worked with our budget. Throughout the job, Tom was in regular contact to guide and inspect the work, answer questions, and ensure we were happy with what we were getting. The crews who did the work were top notch. Carlos was the masonry crew foreman and led a masterful build of a flagstone patio with swept-in stone dust. It was tricky work too because of a significant slope in our yard. Julio was the landscaping crew foreman, and he too was personable and professional. The crews worked efficiently, took great care to protect the home and landscaping and clean up, and did touch up and finishing work that was beyond the scope of the project. With Merrifield, we felt like we paid good money for outstanding service and craftsmanship. All the materials used, like the flagstone, were of the highest quality. And no shortcuts were taken with the work. It all really showed in the end. We are completely satisfied customers and will definitely go back to MGC for any future landscaping services, and well request the same crews given the positive experience we had.

The breakfast buffet was well done and straight forward. No custom orders but everything was fresh. They could have used more fruit, just pinapples and grapes (both fresh).

Came here for some fun plant shopping for indoor plants. They have such a variety in their greenhouse. All of the plants were in healthy condition. They have common and unique plants. I was able to purchase a medium sized prayer plant $34.99, string of pearls $12.99, and a marbled pathos for $8.99. Additionally I found these beautiful off white/tan terracotta pots. Overall, prices are on the higher side but the quality is high. Less unique plants like the pathos run similar pricing as Lowes/ Home Depot but better value. I will definitely be back, my plants are already happy at home and no sign of over watering, pests, or disease. Would recommend this location for your indoor plant needs

No one asked if I needed assistance with finding any flowers, but others around me were asked. Im a plant enthusiast, but will never go back to this place. The underlying racism was felt

Great place to get a new plant to attempt to keep alive! It was incredibly impressive how alive and well all of the plants in the outdoor garden area. Everyone was very helpful and offered assistance to anyone they were near. Ill never go back to a home Depot or Lowes garden center after this.

Great nursery but very expensive

This review is about Merrifields landscaping service. We love shopping at Merrifield and so we were excited to work with their landscape designers. We booked a Full Service appointment via their website and paid a $75 fee up front for a consultation. On the day of our consultation, our assigned designer did not show up so we decided to call after 30 minutes had passed. Our assigned designer said that she was at another appointment and that the system must have double-booked the appointment, which apparently has been occurring frequently. We fortunately had flexibility on that day and were happy to meet at a different time. Our designer arrived later that afternoon and spent 30 or so minutes with us. She told us that the project was doable and that our next step would be to engage her to draw detailed plans at a cost of $150 per hour. We agreed to the price of the drawings and were excited to get the project moving, but the designer stopped responding to our messages even after we followed up. We get that folks may be busy and are ok with lead times, but do not appreciate the lack of customer service and attention. It is after all a service industry, so we will be looking elsewhere for our landscaping needs.

Weve bought a few items here but one thing Ive gotten and will continue to get is firewood. They sell kiln dried wood that actually burns. Ive bought from some of those folks that truck wood in from the country side and its never been properly dried. The firewood here always burns great. This is a pretty big Garden center is firewood isnt a main item for them its just an example of the quality items they have. Anyway, did I mention the firewood is good?

When my 10 year old son and I called MGC tonight to see if they had anything they could donate to make the elderly residents of Iliff Nursing and Rehab center in Dunn Loring (where my grandmother lived out her life) feel a touch of the holidays, they leaned in big time. No resident - forgotten or not - will wake up on the morning of Christmas Eve, without a wreath on their bedroom door or a gorgeous flower in their room. They will know they are loved and remembered. Very expensive! A 20-minute job, plastic piping and pop-up spout for drainage was $1000. Plus- the drainage did not fully address the problem of water accumulating with heavy rainfall. The first person who completed the job claimed he didn t see a stump and had to drain water to the middle of the yard where there was risk of water accumulating at the foundation. The second ran it further down the hill. Not very confident that it will work without causing a drench to form over time.

Like many people, I have been gardening more (all in containers) during the pandemic. Merrifield s classes have gone virtual, which have been a godsend to this novice gardener. The seminars are short 45 minutes to an hour but filled with great information from personable Merrifield employees. In one of the classes, the host featured a planter that I thought would look great on our patio, and I contacted Customer Service via the Merrifield website. I got a call back within 24 hours from someone who really wanted to help me. I texted a photo of the planter; he contacted the store to try to find it; and texted back a pic of what they had in stock. (Shout out to Lyndsey and Bryn at the Fair Oaks store for finding them for me!) He had the planters set aside, told me whom to ask for at the store, and I picked them up the next day. Only after I was home did I learn that my customer service contact was a senior person at the company and, in fact, is a son of one of the founders. Wow. What an incredibly run family business. Highly recommend!

This place is HUGE! I have no doubt that whatever youre looking for you will definitely find it here. Their inventory is stellar. I certainly enjoyed visiting this nursery. Unfortunately the prices kept me from making a purchase. Sticker shock is an understatement. I cruise nurseries in the DMV and Merrifield is one of the most, if not the most, expensive. Id only make a purchase if I just cant find what Im looking for anywhere else.

They have most plants and plant related things you might want, and then lots more youve never thought of or heard of. The staff is knowledgeable and the plants are of good quality. Check it out for yourself!! It is a pleasant place even if you mainly just want a stroll.

Loved it they have everything!

Sooo expensive... but the selection and quality cant be beat. Also, the people that work there are very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. If money isnt an object, this is the place to go. I typically go there to ask questions and get information, which is a way better option than researching on the internet. I recently went there to buy seeds. They have a better variety of seeds than home depot down the street and all their seeds are certified organic. I also wanted to buy blueberry bushes, but, while they do have great variety, their bushes are very expensive - think $40-$50 avg for 1 gal. Ended up going to Lowes in Chantilly, which had Legacy blueberries at $27 for 3.25 gal (and could have bought 1 gal for $13). In terms of blueberries, Id probably do Lowes -> online -> marryfield (based on selection/ price)

Love going to this garden center! It has a large selection of plants, indoor and outdoor. It has a ton of garden decor, as well, including a large variety of pots. This Merrified has much of what you may be lo ok king for so, definitely worth the visit! The staff is quite friendly and helpful. Also, if you there are plants you are having an issue with, this is a great place to come for expert advice! The only drawback with this place is the relatively small parking lot and it can be a little pricey. Otherwise, an awesome garden center!!!

MGC is a standout source in the area for all manner of plants. The variety and quality are exceptional. I ve also been pleased with the friendliness and knowledge of the staff, who have helped find the right plant for the circumstance on multiple occasions.

Only place to get plants if you live in Arlington!

Came here today after being disappointed with the Fairfax location. I was looking for a particular house plan and figured I would find it here. Their indoor plant section looks like it a jungle! It was quite surprising and a different look than the Fairfax location. Although it looked beautiful, it was a bit annoying when it came to trying to actually find some thing. Plants were mixed in everywhere with different plants. I almost just left out or frustration of not being able to spot what I was looking for. They didn t really have sections for plants like the Fairfax location. The indoor plant area in Fairfax is nicely organized. I simply came for a pothos plant .a neon/marble Queen to be specific. I finally find the pothos section and only see like two golden pothos. I was actually a bit surprised at their pothos selection. There was really nothing there lol. The Fairfax location is actually better and they had every single thing I was looking for, but I saw pests on a plant I wanted and didn t buy a single thing. I can t say I d come back to this location, but it was nice to take a look.

I went with my 7 year old daughter and literally everyone was so friendly it was wonderful. The staff genuinely cared and everyone knew their area. The selections were great both inside and out.

I recently purchased an office plant for my director who had a death in the family. The staff at Merrifield got me the perfect plant. It was a beautiful gift from our staff and I really appreciated their expert help with my budget and choice of plant and pot. Thank you so much!

I have loved visiting Merrifield garden center for many many years, sometimes just to soak in the lovely atmosphere. Today Amy helped me immensely in the greenhouse and helped me love this place even more! Can t recommend it enough!

Awesome spot.....only place locally I can find replacement pumps and filters for fountains and ponds. Nice selection too!

Nice and large place you will find everything for your garden

Nice nursery with lots if nice items. I hope they start having at least one person on shift who has experience with items your purchasing. Owner does great hiring folks who are just starting out in working world but they need experienced folks too.

Beautiful space, kind staff. Parking is horrendous, and every plant Ive purchased there has been infected by spider mites. Thought it was just bad luck, but were talking seven different plants from here have all had spider mites, which is disappointing. Great energy in the store.

Mrs. Whitehead also arranged packaging and delivery. I am in Seattle and could not get a flight to get me back in time for the service. Merrifield has the best flowers and plants. No good service plus there people ask for full explanation by email but they don t reply those email that confirms how they run there traditional business.

So it has basically all youll want from a garden center but the prices for everything is pretty high. For some reason they have a basic version of all the tools and then very expensive versions. I purchases a side angle rake that broke after light use, as well as shears and a garden rake that all broke quickly. It seems like your trapped into purchasing the inflated item. Their statuary and plant selection is nice. They do take regular care of the plants there . staff is kind and helpful

We were very excited about Merrifield. We have so much work to do that we need to span it over phases. After we waited more than a month to get an appointment with a designer, Andrea Mains, we ended up with no design and not being able to move ahead. In short, after a quick visit in July and not hearing back for weeks afterwards, we were told that because we were thinking to do the patio ourselves, that the design would cost double ($2500). We were also told that if we were going to choose to do our hardscaping, the design would be available in November instead of earlier. There is A LOT of work to be done outside of the patio, but it seems greed for a larger commission was more important. We re now exploring another company with more competitive pricing. But we ve missed the window to have anything done for this year.

I absolutely adore this store. They have a great selection of plants, the store is clean and well organized, and the employees are kind, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Today David helped me with re-potting 2 of my plants even though they were about to close, and was perfectly wonderful the whole time, chatting and joking with us. I have been shopping here for over a year and will continue to come back and reccomend it to my friends! Thank you to all the amazing employees who make it a great place to shop!

Large place, if you cant find what you need there then its probably not around. My 3 star rating is on the staff. I asked a question on shrubs and was told not my area of expertise even after he said if you have any questions just ask . This happened again with another person.

***Still no response, customer service seems to be a low priority here*** **Update: Still no response from Kevin** *Update: Email sent 9 days ago, No response...whats the point? 2 stars because the delivery driver gave my SO the receipt for my Valentines day flowers, a bit tacky in my opinion. Made our dinner date later that night a bit uncomfortable since she felt like her gift to me wasnt as good since she saw what I spent on the flowers alone. Also, the delivery man made her feel a bit uncomfortable waiting around for a tip. She didnt give him one because the receipt he gave her was a $30 delivery fee to go 2 minutes down the road. The online service, customer support via the phone was great.

The people are always super friendly and the plants are super healthy. I love this location, I ve never been let down with the plants or the experience in general!

This place has it all with the knowledge to match! It s not cheap, but it s quality.

Selection was great, the staff was pretty friendly.

The alway go to shop for my personal garden. They have good experts suggesting for best products to use. Really well decorations and ornaments for festive season. And Awesome variety for the all kinds of plants.

While it can be more expensive than other nurseries the selection and expertise of the staff in unrivaled in Northern Virginia.

Beautiful displays to get inspired but the prices are outrageous! You can purchase many of the same things at Hobby Lobby or Michaels fir a fraction of the cost.

We had an issue early on getting them to come out and communicate. But David and Danny at Gallows made it up and sent out the best crew to take care of our entire yard. We are very happy with the workmanship and professionalism of the specific crew that did our yard. Kudos to Dan as well at Gainesville for stepping up. THANK YOU AGAIN!

Weve been used to their other location for years but this one is just as amazing! Visit during the holidays for a winter wonderland, it is great for present shopping. The store is always well stocked with a huge selection and friendly staff!

This review is based solely on the purchase of one christmas tree. The good: Excellent selection of trees and service. Trees were all gorgeous and fully unwrapped so you can get a full look at it. I came here on December 5th after trying multiple tree farms and Home Depot, all with questionable looking trees. The worst trees here at Merrifield looked much better than the best trees at the tree farms or Home Depot. Staff was very attentive and helpful. It was a hands off process, you pick the tree, they do everything. Well worth the slightly higher costs of trees here. The bad: I selected a gorgeous 8 Douglas Fir, probably the most picture perfect tree I had ever purchased. After picking it, the attendant took the tree and told me he would trim the bottom branches and make a fresh cut while I went inside to pay. After I got the tree home, I immediately got the tree in water within 60 minutes. The tree drank some water within the first day and then stopped drinking water entirely. The tree had rapidly dried, and the branches all started to droop well before Christmas. I ve been desperately trying to keep the tree hydrated and presentable just enough to make it to Christmas. Added preservatives, drilled desperation holes, lightened up ornament weight, pulled out the ribbon, etc. All of the trees I ve had in years past drank plenty of water, had to fill every 3 days or so, and made it to Christmas and well past New Years perfectly fine. This is the first tree I ve had that has given up on life almost immediately and will barely make it to Christmas. Not sure if maybe the cut wasn t made or not well enough. Or maybe the tree wasn t fresh? (I don t know that much about trees). Also notable that this tree seems to be absent of sap. Again, would be worth the cost and would be a 5 star rating if the tree hadn t died prematurely. Maybe I just got a lemon tree.
