Weed Man Lawn Care in Elgin

Fired this clown show in 2015 for invoicing me for services they never actually completed, just drove by. 9 years later, they called me again today, and in November, and in August. Well you get the picture. Once in the weed man system, you are spamed for a lifetime, even after previously telling them to stop calling and being part of the dnc list, they keep at it. Reported to the FTC.

Very conscientious of our lawn needs. Friendly. They walk you through every step of your services.

Chris is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Chris came out to do a core aeration and gave me some info on our lawn before he did anything. I mentioned an issue in the back with our lawn and he took the time to do look and made a call because he had a few questions to ask his manager. All in all he was very helpful.

Weedman has done a fantastic job on my challenging lawn. They have great communication and were prompt at getting the aeration done. Since starting with Weedman my extensive lawn weed collection has reduced to almost nothing, making my lawn the healthiest it s ever been!

Bryan came out and personally walked the whole yard this Spring and was very thorough in explaining areas that Weed Man will address. There was a wet area of ground that had some big divots after areation that needed to be regraded. He could have said he would send a technician out to fix it, but instead, he went and got tools, topsoil, seed, and boots and took care of it himself! This is the personal attention to detail and customer service that sets Weed Man apart!!

Update 10/18/2025 Still going strong with WeedMan services! Even in a drought and with disease conditions this year my lawn is doing great! Today Alan & Alan provided services including a double aeration, weed control and spot seeded a couple places for Me! They go above and beyond to take care of their customers. The provide guidance for services provided and answer my questions about the upcoming season and any concerns I have about pet safety, watering. etc. Very pleased with the teams services again! Danial is very efficient and informed part of their great team! Thank you for your service!

Update- I have been using Weedman for about 3 years now. My lawn is looking so much better! Very few weeds, greener grass and more filled in. I am very pleased with the results of Weedmans services. This is my first year using them and I already can see a difference in my grass. In areas that the grass was slow to grow, it is now just as long as the rest of the yard and greener. Weeds are very few after one application. Highly recommend their service.

Edit & Update -- 3/29/2024 Unprofessional automatic billing practices. We have been quite satisfied with the lawn care itself and have NO complaints about Jose, our assigned technician, whos been brilliant for the past few years. But, we have recently run into some frustrating problems with how the company handle automatic billing and use credit cards on file. First off, Ive always been cautious about automatic charges to my credit card. I didnt want to be automatically charged this year, especially since we might not use the service or might prefer to use a different card. After a call today, we decided its best to look elsewhere for services next year due to these main issues below: We were told that the company does not send out receipts after payment unless you specifically ask for one. It feels odd to me that you wouldnt automatically get a receipt for a transaction. Despite asking not to automatically charge my card for next years service, they told me its not possible. We were told that they send out a letter before charging your card again, and you must call them to cancel if you do not want to continue the service. Otherwise, theyll just charge the card they have on file. This was all confirmed to me today, March 29, 2024, as I paid for what will be unfortunately be our last year using the Weed Man service. As someone who travels often for work, the chances of me missing any letter is high. And frankly, even if I did see the letter, I find this approach to billing unacceptable. I believe in clear and straightforward billing practices, and its simply not right that a company wont respect their customers request about payment methods, especially when the request is not out of the norm of billing practices. This year, even though its our third (or fourth) year with them, we made it clear that these billing practices are a deal-breaker for us. Its disappointing because the service itself is good, but we just cant overlook these payment issues. As a business owner and service provider I cant even imagine playing out what was described above, or explaining it with a straight face to our clients, why the should not expect a receipt for their payments, that we will automatically rebill them unless they respond to our letter informing them that we will service them again or, that we will override their specific request not to bill them using a card we have used previously. = = = = This is an honest customer review about Weed Man lawn care services, which weve been using for a couple of years. First of all we really like this business, especially our technician, Jose. Joses careful work has made our grass look healthy and vibrant. He always takes time to tell us what hes going to do and checks in with us after the treatment to answer any questions. This has helped us learn more about our lawn. We had a little issue with miscommunication at the company when renewing, but they fixed it quickly. Weed Man uses top-quality fertilizer and weed control. If you get a technician like Jose, youll be very happy with the service

Due to an ongoing construction project in our back yard we have temporary fencing to contain our dogs. Prior to the scheduled arrival of Weedman I had opened that fencing to allow access. After the Weedman tech had left I went out to reposition the temporary fencing. To my pleasant surprise I found that the weedman tech had reassembled the fencing and quite accurately. I was and still am very impressed by that consideration and extra effort. Thank you!

I have had Weed Man taking care of my lawn for several years. My lawn has never looked better. I fired the last firm because the lawn just seemed to get worse each year. But, Weed Man has brought it back to what a lawn should look like and is keeping it that way. I am very happy with them.

The sales rep said that they can kill the wild violet and creeping charlie in some areas of my yard, so I signed up in May 2023. I had to keep asking the person who sprayed my lawn for over 3 months before they finally killed the wild violet, creeping charlie in the end of September 2023. They also killed all of the grass around the areas where they sprayed. The grass around the wild violet and creeping charlie also died at the same time. I could have done that without paying them $400. When I asked their technician to come to my home and tell my why the grass around it was dead, he said that the wild violet and creeping charlie killed the grass around the weeds not their chemicals.

I leave this review as I transition to Native Gardens in place of my lawn. Weedman, from 2018 to 2023, did a FANTASTIC job controlling our dandelions and other ground coverings. When we started with them, I was just happy that my lawn was green. As we progressed, I was happy that I had green grass, rather than just green things. Over the course of 5 years, Weedman did a great job making our lawn healthy and actual lawn. I would HIGHLY recommend them as your lawn care specialists. They worked with us to formulate a plan that provided fertilizer, weed control, aeration and seeding. Were we not changing up what we are doing with our lawn, I would still be using their services. Ask for Tommy in sales, hell help you move your fridge! :D

Everyone I contacted from Customer Service to the Lawn Care Technician was always pleasant and helpful. They always provided suggestions to improve my lawn of which I was free to change or refuse. All service was scheduled in advance by text which I could always change if necessary. I am totally happy with this company!

Rep I spoke with today was very knowledgeable and offered services, without being pushy, that will be of great benefit to my lawn that i didnt know were an option.

Julien, my tech, has been great at communicating with me. This is the second year using the service. Julien understands the changes we ve made in the yard and what it needs. He makes suggestions as needed. He always reminds us to keep the dogs inside until the yard is safe for them!

I hired them for 2022 and they reduced some of the weed, but not more than what you could achieve with 2-3 treatments yourself. It is nearly impossible to call them, unless you want to spend min 30 min on hold. They only call you to up-sell more services. They will come again if you ask, but this is kind of useless, since they want two weeks after the last treatment and if the next treatment is next week, they will not come either. I would not recommend them. Also, I do not feel they care if you tell them that you are not satisfied.

They are always prompt and professional. Weve always had issues with other companies leaving our gates open, and our dog got loose one day... Not with Weedman! They love pets like we do.

We have had the other company taking care of our lawn for years. We are at the end of the first year with Weedman and our lawn has never looked better. Johnny our service technician takes the time to explain the treatment, ask about concerns, reminds me about the dogs and covers/treats the entire yard. He also takes the time post treatment. to inform us when he is done and to keep the dogs off the grass.

We basically live in a forest preserve and the weeds in the yard and beds were unmanageable! We were referred to Weedman and they have done an amazing job! The yard is looking great and their follow up and communication was great! Highly recommend

We had a technician come out for fertilizer, airation, and now for weed control and the two who came out were great, Johnathan Vargas has done the fertilization and the weed control and has been a big help in maintaining my yard. Great people to do business with

I hired these guys to maintain my lawn for weeds. Prior years I ve used a lawn service for mowing, fertilizer, seeding etc. but 2020 was not good to me monetarily so we are taking care of our own mowing etc. this year but figured I d keep up with a weeding service. (Point is my yard is/was in fairly great shape. The day I hired them, the sales guy, (who was very nice to be fair) set us up on the 6-8 week program and fertilized our yard. He said that was the first step and someone would be back in about 8 weeks. Someone came out 5 days later and fertilized my yard again! They called me and said they were done and left. I told him that was just done and he was confused and said this is bad It burnt my lawn and killed it in multiple spots through out. I called and complained. They sent two guys out about 5 days later. One talked on the phone and with the Amazon delivery guy for about 20 min while the other guy just through hand fulls of seed down, literally in piles! Didn t even spread it! I asked if that s how they were going to treat/fix my yard and they replied by saying yeah, you just gotta water it! This is still not resolved and I have literally spent about $500 on Scott s Turf Builder and Grass seeds, let alone the exuberant use of water to try and get my yard back to full and green instead of sparse and burnt AND hours of my and my wife s time! And I still have dandelions growing on top of it! Horrible company Horrible customer service! I m writing this because I ve had zero follow up by WEEDMAN in 4 weeks, meanwhile my yard is that much worse!

Weeds are pretty much taken care of, but grubs are still a problem.

Joshua was my technician for the weed control today, and he was really, really great! He listened to what my concerns were regarding my lawn and he gave great tips and information on what I could do in addition to their services. I really appreciated his help and honesty.
