Normally, I don't post any type of reviews about a business. But, this company has really gotten under my skin with regards to how they charge the customer as well as their overall customer service. I purchased 6 tons of river rock from D&S. After reviewing my receipts a few days later, I noticed that I was charge a "Tip" fee for my purchase. I was never asked about a "tip" when purchasing and definitely never approved a "tip" for this purchase. The next day I called the business to ask about this fee. The sales associated told me that it was not a "tip", but it was a fee to cover their merchant service fees at a rate of 3.5%.I explained how misleading this was as it appears to be a "tip" instead of merchant fees and asked why they pass this onto the customer as well as why can it not be identified appropriately on the receipt .. after all if you can customize your receipt to show a 'tip", you can customize your receipt to show this fee as a merchant fee. However, they don't do this because it is a violation of the User Agreement with all merchant processing companies. The sales associate then became very defensive and tried to explain that "everyone did this" and that they tell every customer about this fee before completing the sale ... which is not true. I explained that I was never told about the fee, don't have a memory or seeing any signage inside the store and then asked for refund of the tip". He became angry, rude and told me that I would need to speak with the owner and then he hung up on me! I tired to call later that day as well as the next day and could not get anyone to answer the phone. The idea that "everyone does this" is a complete lie ... I never pay a "tip" fee when I buy groceries, gas, eat at my local restaurant (outside of adding gratuity to my bill myself), go to a department store, eat fast food, etc. This merchant fee is a cost of doing business in a world that has become exclusively electronic. The benefit of being able to process debit/credit cards as a source of payment is much greater than the potential loss when someone wishes to pay with a check. I understand the cost associated with accepting credit/debit cards as I was in retail for over 20 years .. those merchant fees can be expensive. But I also understand that charging the customer a merchant service is not looked at too kindly by the processing companies as this could encourage customers not to use credit cards and therefore the merchant processing companies lose money. At the end of the day, the manner in which D&S charges the customer a "tip" and their poor customer service warrants nothing more that a 1 star. They will not see my business ever again.
Very knowledgeable management, and a great crew of hardworking technicians inside that each and every task is done with professional skill
D&S Lawn Care & Landscaping in Easley, SC, constructed a GeoStone retaining wall on my property in late January 2020. I received a 1-year "guarantee" for the work. I immediately noticed a few blocks in the wall were misaligned and protruding from the wall. Also, during the final grading, soil was pushed up against the siding of the house. I attempted to contact D&S repeatedly over several months. Phone calls were not returned, no one came out to look at the problems. D&S's "guarantee" was worthless. They made no effort to stand by their work. I am now left with a wall that may or may not be structurally sound and grading that is damaging my house. I do not recommend this company.
D&S did our lawn for about 2 years and did a good. I recently had to change companies because D&S stopped coming. Skipped weeks or went for 10 days or more between cuttings. Did not remove clippings so when they did mow there was a heavy coat of cut grass left over the lawn.
Good place for mulch even though their prices are considerably higher this year. May be higher everywhere I have checked yet.
Hardworking, Respectful, Punctual, Professional, Devoted, Dedicated, Awesome, Sensational, Understanding, Loyal, Reliable, Adaptable, and just down right hospitable. These boys rock!!!
I've never used their lawn care service so I can't comment toward the last post. I do however stop by the store quite frequently for chicken feed, and also purchased a riding lawn mower from there. My experiences in the store are always pleasant. These are very nice country folks and I will be keeping my business there. I recommend stopping in for all your farming needs.
Very poor service. The owner blames his employees. I thought they were better than that. Would not recommend for landscaping. Worked with them through the property management company i work for.
This was a very helpful place and service was great.
