Monti and his crew did a great job removing a large and very dead tree from our yard. He gave us a competitive bid, explained why the tree had died, and stayed in constant communication with me in scheduling the service around Minnesota winter weather. Hes really nice, knows his stuff and gets it done -- and done well. Highly recommend!

UPDATE: Rescheduling was NOT an issue for us - as I state below, we completely understood staff being sick. It was your rude, unprofessional texts that disgusted us. Weve moved on. Wow - SO disappointed with this company!! Unbelievable. Super friendly when he came to give us an estimate (told me one-week to get on schedule, but we then had to wait three - not the end of the world). They were more expensive than 3 other companies we got estimates from, but they seemed professional and knowledgeable so we chose them. The day they were supposed to come out, they didnt show up. No phone call or anything. We had to text and call before we got a response. They were short-staffed - which is understandable and it happens. So we asked how quickly we could reschedule... and we got a NASTY response from Monte. Super rude and totally unprofessional! If he had said sorry, well get you reschedule asap, all would have been fine. However, he sent some snarky text responses and said that were lucky to get rescheduled as theyre so busy. Would NOT recommend this company to anyone - they likely wont show up.

UPDATE: Weve just used Monti for the third time for tree removal and buckthorn clean up. As always, excellent and timely service at a very reasonable price. We have one more large clean up project planned, and Mahner Tree Service will be the only place we go to. Monti responded to my initial call the same day and was able to review the project and provide an estimate the same day. We had a very large job that involved removing multiple trees and stumps, clearing buckthorn, trimming trees away from the house and removing debris that we had gathered ourselves. The team arrived on time, was extremely polite and professional, and began working immediately upon review of the long list. They even did some extra trimming on trees that werent on the list, but needed a little clean up. The yard and driveway were left spotless with all work completed to our satisfaction. I would highly recommend this company and plan to use them for all our future tree needs.

Came out quickly to remove a large broken branch. Then scheduled a small tree removal/replacement but never came back to do that job. Contacted us once to say they were waiting for supplier to have better trees. 2 months later and still waiting to hear back.

I don t usually write reviews but the service I received last week was exceptional. We had lighting hit a tree in our yard on a Wednesday evening. Once I realized it had happened (the storm ended) I texted Mahner (I had used them in the past) to see if they were still doing tree work. They responded immediately (this was 6:30PM). We were leaving town, on Friday, and I was concerned the damaged tree would hit the house while we were gone. I sent a picture and was told a team would be out there in the AM. By 9:00 AM they had a crew here. By 10:30 the tree was gone, stump ground and everything cleaned up. Crazy fast and they did a great job. This was a fairly large tree (I m still getting used to it not being there ). I couldn t recommend them enough. Not just for their work but I chatted up a few of the workers and they were all extremely pleasant. Great crew. Great service.

This is our second time using Mahner Tree Service. From the original contact thru the end of service we couldn t be more pleased with the communication and service. The team that came out to the house was very efficient and did a nice job cleaning up. We would definitely recommend Mahner if you re in need of tree trimming or removal.

Called this company to see if they could trim and prune my beautiful lilac bush that is now overgrown. Owner said he no longer services Minneapolis (despite indicating so on his website) because he is afraid of black people. Recommend that at a minimum he removes the fact that he serves Minneapolis from his website and also lay off the YouTube conspiracy theories.

Monti and his crew cut down four huge dead oak trees and removed a large dead branch from a fifth. The crew was polite and respectful. They worked well as a team. The trees they dropped fell exactly where they said they would. They were on time and accomplished the work without a hitch. Watching Monti scale one of the trees was amazing to watch. The man has skills. Since I intend on cutting and splitting the wood myself, I cant comment on clean-up. I would use them again.

I just had a negative experience with Mahner. I reached out for a quote for removing a mature Cottonwood tree in my back yard. Besides writing an email that said Ill come out I was giving no notification when. This evening Im sitting in my backyard when an unleashed dog shows up and urinates on my landscaping. This was immediately followed by an owner/employee of Monti who first wanted to know how many quotes Id already solicited, then within a minute of looking at the tree said the cost would be $12,000. About 300% more than a previous quote. Hey, he can charge what he wants, but a very unprofessional experience overall.

Tree trimming was done a few days earlier then expected. I wanted a specific limb removed from tree, but Monti was honest and told me tree would not heal and would look horrible if removed. The tree looks amazing and and my other 2 trees look great also. Definitely recommend this company

Found Mahner Tree Service with a quick Google when the neighbors pointed out that we had a couple branches snapped on our tree, just dangling there and likely to fall on the house soon. Gave Monti a call and he was out as my house in an hour for the estimate. I lucked out that his crew had just finished up a job so he had them swing by my house, again within the hour. And this was after 4 pm on a Friday. Wouldnt have blamed anyone if they just wanted to call it a week and go home, but no complaints from the polite and professional crew. Got the problem branches taken care of AND trimmed back a bunch that would have likely been problematic in the future. The crew even had me come out and explain their recommendation there and if I agreed to it, which was much appreciated. If they hadnt been able to come the same day, I likely would have some branches on my roof right now because a storm rolled through the next night. When other tree services are so booked up that they arent taking new customers, its even more awesome they were able to get this done so quickly. Last thing: Monti clearly knows a helluva lot about trees, as I had him take a look at a big evergreen we got in the back yard - just because its huge and I worry about it sometimes. He explained thoroughly why its still in good shape and what I can do to keep it that way.

What a great group of professionals. They worked as a team, were efficient, and took safety seriously. It was impressive to watch the way they systematically cut branches from a large Ash and dropped them safely. We had a fence nearby and a playhouse and neither seemingly had so much as a twig hit them. Excellent customer service and ensured the lawn was adequately cleaned up and even went next door and gave my neighbors lawn a quick once over with the leaf blower for good measure. 10/10 would recommend them.

He understood what I needed and recommended the right branches to trim. He discussed with me how to visualize the trees after the trim. I knew right away they d look great. The crew lead, Brandan, reviewed the details of the estimate assured me his clean up would be thorough and complete. I watched him huddle the crew and discuss the job. When they broke the group went straight to work. Everyone seemed to know exactly what was expected. Within a short time Brandan was at the door and showed me everything they did. It was exactly as expected. My yard showed no sign that a large crew had just trimmed my trees!! Monti, himself, followed up and made sure I was satisfied. I ll use them again and recommended them to my neighbors. My neighbors appreciated that the trees were trimmed back from their houses and yards. A job well done!

I submitted 5 online estimate requests to local 4 star or above tree service companies. Mahner was the only company that came out and did the estimate. They were quick to respond, thorough, professional, and awesome to work with. It was nice to work with a company that transparent about its pricing, no BS, and got the job done right the first time. Our tree was in a difficult location, maybe 15 ft from housefront. They made and accomplished great work plan in this tree removal process. To be quite honest we were shocked to see the end result. With stump and roots removal we expected to see our yard in somewhat disarray but one can hardly tell there was a 60 ft tree in our yard!! Overall simply put , an incredible job! It was so great working with Monte and his crew! We had them out to remove some infected ash trees over the winter, then had them come out this spring to remove a few more trees. They were in and out in no time! Made sure the area and yard were cleaned of mess. Highly recommend and actually referred to our neighbor for a few of their trees recently.

I couldnt be happier with Mahner tree service. I contacted them, left a voicemail and within a few hours I had a professional customized quote on my doorstep. Monti was very helpful and had his crew out to my address THE NEXT DAY! They were professional, friendly and most important efficient. Within 20 minutes the first tree was falling and after a couple hours they were done. On top of that they raked and cleaned up afterward. You wouldnt be able to tell they removed 2 trees and trimmed another. Pricing was great and even worked with me alittle. Monti and his crew simply put, personified above and beyond!

The city had told me I needed to have a tree gone in a month due to an infestation. I contacted them and Monti came out and looked at the situation and gave me a quote. An hour later I texted him I liked what he had said and would go with him. I asked him what day worked best for him and the next day I came home from work and the tree was gone already!! The mess was cleaned up as well as it could be with snow and ice on the ground and Im 100% happy with his work. I even referred him to my neighbors that needed trees gone as well. When I called up Monty he was helping a friend deal with snow melt cause hes such a great guy. He stopped by later in the day to look at my old apple tree that was overgrown and leaning over the property line. Tree was trimmed and ready the next day. Couldnt ask for more.

They were easy to work with, priced fairly, and were even kind enough to leave us a couple yards of wood chips dumped on the driveway (at our request) for us to use as mulch this season. Montis crew was awesome! They came out on the appointed day, discussed the game plan with me and then started in. They were professional and courteous, and I appreciated their kindness toward my disabled son who wanted to watch the machinery. The foreman stopped to answer my questions throughout the day, and they had enough time to take care of a pesky Russian olive that was crowding my shed. They spent at least an hour at the end of the day raking and cleaning up. I was very impressed, and the price seemed resasonable. Thumbs up, guys!

I had a very large pine tree fall in a winter storm. The tree was completely blocking a sidewalk and needed to be quickly removed. Monti made the entire process very easy. We just had Mahner Tree Service out to remove 2 GIANT cottonwood trees& clean up our other trees. He quoted it as a 2-3 day job & the had everything cut down & mostly cleaned up in a day with only stump grinding left to do the 2nd day. We were definitely impressed with how hard the crew worked & the great job they did. Would definitely recommend!

Theyve done a great job removing our poplar tree and grinding its stump. And also beautifully trimmed 4 of our other trees on our property and picked up our brush pile that I had been neglecting over the years. Time window would be nice though. I was told theyd be here sometime after 9 am, 1 pm I started getting worried that they were not coming and I would have to schedule another tree service company for another date. Also I got an earful from the wife for that. Thought I was going to have another hubby failure notch on her honey do list. With that being said, I prefer to work with small businesses because they dont nickle and dime you and will work with them again in the future. Again great work guys!

Outstanding! We tried 5 different places to get estimates to get our trees trimmed. Only 2 responded and Mahner Tree service came out right away to do a free estimate. Their price was by far the best. I was given all information up front such as their insurance info. We set something up a few days later and they were here within a week! They trimmed trees and grounded down old stumps. They shredded up the branches and were done in just over half an hour. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We needed two river birch trees trimmed badly in our back yard so I got a few estimates from local tree trimmers. The professionalism ends after the neat paperwork, folders, and brochures. We were provided a date for service along with an alternate date. The first date we neglected chores and errands to wait for the service while a nearby neighbor received service (on a third date scheduled). The crew packed up and departed, without explanation. The next scheduled date, nobody showed up or contacted us to explain why service wouldnt be completed as agreed. Mr. Mahner does not seem to understand that I fully understand that emergencies happen, the lack of professionalism and customer service stems from his lack of communication regarding the situation and delay. The paperwork we were provided had indicated one date, with an alternate date. The first date, we absolutely observed some of his challenges (not the first challenge experienced by a neighbor) with his equipment, the second date his account when asked was that he forgot . Again, its not lack of flexibility and understanding on my part but lack of communication and professionalism that prompts my unfavorable review.

Mahner Tree Service was one of a handful of companies I called to get a quote on the removal of a large tree limb that broke off from a storm. I selected this company based on first impressions. Monti was responsive, courteous, friendly, and professional over the phone and expressed a genuine sense of urgency in being able to stop by my house to look at the damage to provide an accurate quote. I wasnt home when he stopped by to assess the damage, but over the phone, Monti mentioned that since the large tree limb fell on top of a large bush, it caused some damage and he said he would clean that up. I really appreciated the extra attention to detail. This incident prompted me to inquire about getting a quote for some additional work to the yard my husband and I have been wanting to do. Monti was very willing and suggestive. In addition, he took time to answer our landscaping questions, providing helpful suggestions, with an obvious knowledge of his craft. Not only was the service excellent, the price was on par with the other companies I called for quotes as well, giving me confidence I was not being taking advantage of.

We had a basswood linden that needed a lot of trimming. Monti came out very quickly and gave me a more than fair estimate compared to others I had received. The work was completed the next day and the results were great! Done fast, done right. I will use him again and recommend him to everyone.

We had a large tree blow down in a storm on our house. Called for estimate. Monty, the owner, came over 4 hours later to quote the job. 10 hours later the tree was gone without a trace! 10 out of 5 stars.

We found out about this business while they were working a job to a neighbor. They seem nice and easy to work with. Got an appointment for the tree trimming estimate and everything was great. Set an appointment and my spouse took off from work to be home for when they come. They were supposed to come at 0900. At 0930 my spouse called since he took only few hours off from work. Well, without any concern for their professionalism we were told they are not coming because their wood chipper is down. Why did they call us? After my spouse set a different date I asked him to call back and tell them to came anyway and cut the tree. I would not care if I have big trees branches in my back yard. It was my way of calling them out. Well guess what, after stumbling a bit they said they have other equipment problems too. So, they were supposed to come back the next day at 2:00pm. They got called at 10:45am to make sure they will show up since my spouse took off from work again. Their answer was Sure nothing will stop us, will be there sometimes after 2:00pm. The appointment was at 2:00pm. So, sometimes after 3:30 we got a phone call saying they will not show up. This time they said the boss fell off the tree and needs surgery, and that is why they did not show up or call. But they were willing to reschedule. I pray to God he is ok because using an excuse like this is horrible. Any way they were supposed to be at house not at somebody elses house. And if the job was way before 2:00m why wait until 3:30pm to contact us?That means we were not important to them and they decided to get another job and get to our house when they were done with the other job. So scheduling an appointment is not important is like waiting for the cable guy.

We had a dead tree on our backyard. We did a web request to Monti. He arrived when we were not at home. He left a quote in a very professional folder. Quite impressive! Without meeting him, over the phone, I asked him to take the tree down. By the afternoon, the tree was gone without any trace. The lawn was not damaged at all. The stump was cleanly removed and long roots exposed on the ground were also gone. Unbelievable. Very happy with the quality of work.

Great service from the initial estimate visit to to the end result. Monti showed up at designated time in a suit. He talked to my wife and they discussed everything we wanted done. My wife thought he was easy to talk to and liked his additional reccomendations. He and his crew showed up at scheduled time a few weeks later and did fantastic work. Monti went from a suit to jeans and climbed our tall trees to take them down. The clean up was great as well. No debris or anything else was left behind. Very clean and efficient team.
