Beautiful place with such friendly and helpful staff. I got the cutest plants there and left feeling my soul full. Highly recommend visiting!
My favorite place to go for plants. They have a variety of plants/flowers that are of good quality. All the employees there are highly knowledgeable and friendly. In 10 minutes an employee picked out the perfect arrangement for my flower box. It’s absolutely gorgeous, they are very talented. I also appreciate that they teach classes.
The team at For Garden's Sake far exceeded our expectations and the outcome of our backyard landscape project is just beautiful! We contacted several landscape contractors to give us ideas and quotes for a paver patio overlay with extension and full landscaping with native plants of our side courtyard. Once we decided to pay for a professional plan, Billy Balton came to our home to review, survey, measure, listen to our "wants," and then developed a plan that encompassed the right plants for our space and fulfilled everything on our wish list. Our largest concern was about grading and making sure the paver patio overlay would work functionally well and be aesthetically pleasing. Billy met with us several times during the process and adjusted areas where we had questions. He was so easy to work with and the plan came together perfectly!! Billy and the team are also experienced at working with the needs and requirements of HOAs and held our hand through the process of approval. The home office team kept in contact with us through the holidays while we waited for our date to come up on the schedule (February 2024). The mostly 3-man crew started every day on time, cleaned up at the end of each day, never showed any dismay when we asked questions or peeked out the windows to watch - they were so professional and an absolute delight to work with! We watched the dream come together before our eyes. And when we questioned the size of stone steps being put in the yard, they worked with us to make sure we were satisfied with everything they were doing. Each day a crew manager came by to discuss the project and kept us in the loop for what was coming next. And now, 5-6 weeks after completion, all of the plants they planted are thriving. The paver patio, while currently covered in pine pollen dust, is amazingly beautiful and just what we wanted. We could not be happier with the outcome or the team at For Garden's Sake. Thank you to the home office team, the landscape managers, the crew, and Billy for giving us an exceptional experience!
My office was last minute looking for Valentine’s Day gifts for our colleagues. When I came into For Garden’s Sake, Morgan was eager to help! I gave her our price range and she laid out different options for me; I was a little weary as I don’t have a lot of experience with plants, but how experienced and friendly she was reassured me. They were able to put together and deliver almost 100 BEAUTIFUL plants+pots in just a few days. Absolutely amazing customer service, and beautiful plants! I would recommend For Garden’s Sake to everybody!!
We bought some herbs seeds like cilantro, mint, chilli, basil. This place has a large variety of plants. The service was friendly. They also have very rare plants which were imported.
One of my favorite plant nursery in the triangle and I've been to many! They have much more variety than other places for both indoor and outdoor plants. This year they had a HUGE selection, much more than when I last visited in August of last year. Most of the prices I saw were very fair and the staff seems knowledgeable as if they at least get some degree of training on plant care. They staff is very friendly too. The overall area is cute to visit. They have goats chickens and ducks outside and a little outdoor seating area though I never see any coffee truck or anything so not sure what the seating is really for. My latest visit I got two new houseplants, a succulent for $7 and a fern for $17, both of which I thought was fair for the breed of plants they were. The only other plant supply I LOVE in this area is actually a traveling bus called Rooted so this is my top place for plant nursery with a physical, permanent location.
Hands down the BEST garden center I have been to. It's so much better to support smaller businesses like this place than big brand name stores. The staff is incredibly helpful with answering questions and extremely knowledgeable, not forgetting to mention how kind they have always been to me and my family. They've taught me many things about each of the plants I've gotten there. I can't say enough good things about them. :)
A magical wonderland for all the plant lovers out there. This place is massive! Plants everywhere, pots everywhere, everything you'd ever need! The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable of the plants available. I probably spent an hour here and it was so worth it. When you think of a plant shop, this is the place you think of. Plants hanging from the ceilings, climbing up the wall, everywhere you look something new catches your eye. I will definitely be returning and I'll be bringing some plant lovers with me!
Helpful staff always available
Great place to shop for plants and so much more!
This is such a great little hidden gem off of 751. Ive lived here 10 years and never knew it was here but I will definitely be back. If youre like me and you collected 500 houseplants during the lockdowns in 2020 then youll probably love this place too. Live music on Friday nights, and amazing slushies! (Both with and without alcohol added) Plus dogs are welcome, so I was able to bring my puppy and let him see goats and chickens for the first time. Staff are super friendly and helpful as well.
Beautiful place where you get everything for your garden. To renew or improve it. For all tastes. All types of bushes. Trees. Seeds, vases, variety. Etc. And you can refresh yourself with a local craft drink. And some days you will hear live music.
One of our favorite places in the triangle!
This amazing gem is literally 2 miles from my home. I stop in just to browse , but if you love plants like I do one or many more are coming home with you. The outside plants are arranged so carefully and you can easily find shade plants vs sun loving. Wandering through the plants I was greeted several times and asked if I needed help. FGS has really expanded and improved their site. It is a real pleasure just to visit. Make sure you have time to enjoy it all you will take some time to visit the goats, walk down to the pond, maybe sit a spell at the picnic tables too. Maybe visit the Potting Shed for a beverage. Buy some plants to take home. Plant shopping here is no stress and they can answer questions about the plants to help you.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great selection, a little pricey but worth the well kept plants
We love FGS. We have been buying plants from them for years and they are always great quality. This year we used their design services and couldnt be happier. We now have a master plan for our house with projects that are delineated for each year. We had FGS redo our front yard this summer. The staff was knowledgeable and professional. Our landscape is beautiful and we cant wait to see it fill out.
Love the selection of outdoor plants and indoor house plants! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, plus the animals are cute
Great indoor plant selections for decent prices! However, my main issue with them is that they frequently mislabel plants ex. I noticed all of their golden bone Alocasia being marked as Alocasia cuprea. When I brought it up to the person working there, she just shrugged it off. Most are labeled correctly but there are at least 3 different plant species that are clearly mislabeled and continue to do so. Overall, they re a cool place to shop for indoor plants and usually have amazing customer service, just make sure you know what you re buying :)
We had a really great experience with For Gardens Sake. They took time to explain their decisions and were great about taking our feedback and making adjustments where necessary. Then once they got started the project moved very quickly! Theyve also been awesome about follow up and have been really helpful in answering our questions - so we feel like we still have access to their advice and expertise even after the project is complete. Highly recommended!
My favorite place to get the best indoor and outdoor plants. The service is always wonderful and the variety is always abundant.
Have not been there. Would love a For Gardens Sake near me in Central FL!! What a beautiful place, you have thought of everything. Beautiful build out, awesome outdoor area with playground and lake. And you can even get a cold drink while you shop even a beer or wine. Perfect!
The shrubs are overpriced but if you want perennials or Vines or annuals this is the spot to go
Such a wonderful laid back place to visit. Nice music, great food trucks, and lovely plants.
Really nice place, decent prices, you can drink a beer while perusing, good selection of all kinds of plants, flowers, trees, shrubs and accessories
Had so much fun with their Mothers day fairy garden workshop today !! We enjoyed our time here and bought a few beautiful plants and flowers afterwards ! Will definitely be back for more
After working with number of landscape companies over the years, my recent experience with For Gardens Sake has been by far the best. Throughout the planning, design and installation process, everyone on the team was a pleasure to work with; attentive, responsive and taking time to answer the many questions I had. Even with a challenging site, Doug Barnes was able to design a plan that resulted in the look and feel I was hoping for and continue to enjoy daily. I love my new yard as do the neighbors. I could not be more pleased working with FGS and do not hesitate to give them my highest recommendation. I
For Gardens Sake is a hidden Gem that all gardeners need to discover. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. It is well stocked with everything a gardener needs. The nursery is beautiful like walking in to the Garden of Eden. Come check out For Gardens Sake out next time you need something for your garden.
We worked with FGS to do a landscape renovation at our home in Durham. We could not have been happier! They were very clear and communicative throughout the process, showed us options for the final plan, and the end result looked spectacular, to the point where we had multiple neighbors come up to us to compliment our yard and landscaping. We are working with them on the back yard next!
I loveeeeee this place!!!! The workers are SO kind and knowledgeable. I get so excited everytime I get to come here.
Great selection of beautiful plants. The staff were Very Helpful and so friendly! Highly recommend!
Their flowers always last longer than buying from Lowe s or elsewhere! Best selection and fun for the kids with the swing set and animals.
For Garden s Sake redid our entire landscaping - drainage, grading, sod and new shrubs and trees. They were very thorough, did an amazing job and very tidy. We are very pleased with the entire process. The designer, the office staff and the installers.
Great selection of well grown plants and totally knowledgeable helpful staff.
I love this place. Beautiful plants and pots, super nice staff. Morgan is SUPER knowledgeable about plants, I am fairly new, so I pick her brain regularly with all sorts of questions, some probably dumb, and she always has good and patient answers.
Plants and pots and people! What a lovely garden center! Beautifully laid out with both inside and outside areas. They even have goats!! I found a bubble gum tradescantia plant that is very healthy and hardy. Judy, who helped me, was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my visit and will be going back when Im in town.
Huge selection! Fun to meander through the aisles and imagine the possibilities.
I bought a pitcher plant here and it not only survived the trip back to Michigan but is thriving! The IPA beer garden is peaceful! If you think you dont need any more plants, or you think that you have a brown thumb, visit here and chat with them! They will help you not only find you a new plant friend, but they will tell you everything you need to know... Books are great but these ppl individualized my experience and made my day fun! Dont miss out on this gem!
Beautiful place, but the staff is not as nice as you would expect them to be. I once called and asked if they had the dark green heart-shaped leaves Philodendrons. She had no idea what plant I was talking about, then became rude when I said it was a very common houseplant. I asked if I could speak with a supervisor, thinking they would understand what I was talking about. She irately said I AM the supervisor . I was shocked at how rude this person was, and just as shocked she didn t know what a heart-shaped philodendron was. I said Thank you, anyway and hung up. I then called the Durham Garden Center where they are always polite and knowledgeable when you have questions. Of course, they knew what plant I was asking about, and they had plenty. I have posted a picture of the philodendron I was asking about so you can see it s not an unusual plant in any way. It s okay if you don t know something, but you certainly should not be rude to potential customers. This certainly is a beautiful place to walk around and look. It s when you have questions that you will experience poor customer service skills and bad attitudes.
Beautiful and extensive selection, will definitely be back
Great place. A destination for garden plants and supplies. Friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Very helpful staff and good quality plants.
In 2022, I finally decided that the poor drainage situation in our back yard had to be addressed. Ive had other landscape services that disappointed me and was determined to get a qualified & dependable company this time. I researched the landscapers in the area and found For Gardens Sake was a well run and very reputable organization. I reached out to the folks at FGS and gave them a description of the problems we were experiencing. Nick contacted me and we arranged to have him survey the property to do a landscape consultation. During the consultation, my wife and I worked with Doug (FGSs landscape architect) to detail the items we had to have fixed and some others that would be a nice to have. From that, FGS developed a proposal showing all parts of the planned project with explanations for each segment. We then had a meeting with Doug to adjust the scope and materials to fit our budget and, once it was agreed upon, schedule the work. We were away for the initial portion (regrading and old sod removal) but were there to see the rest as they progressed. The worker were efficient, competent and considerate of us and our property. Total time for the work was 11 days. The results were amazing! One of the best parts was the work done to create a walkway and disposal bin pad from the garage driveway to the backyard deck eliminating the walk through soggy grass. I would highly recommend FGS for their expertise and professional work. The people there are devoted to making the customer satisfied and providing the best service possible.
Nice variety of plants! A bit overpriced but this is a greenhouse/nursery so you can t expect prices you see at big box stores. Was surprised to see their clearance section with wilted plants still quite $$ though. I don t understand the concept of selling plants that are just vines and dried up :( but It s a fun experience to go here though and would definitely reccommend it to see some nice scenery and harder to find houseplants! Will be visiting again.
This was my first time visiting this outdoor garden shop. The staff was kind and helpful. They have a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants. Prices seemed to be comparable to similar garden shops.
Great variety and always lots of folks on hand to help advise on what might do well, how to care for, and when to plant. Healthy plants, nice to support local business.
Expensive, but well worth it.
Beautiful place, great selection of plants. A little on the higher price but the quality is great.
Beautiful garden center with very knowledgeable staff. There is a nice pond to sit by and also an area with goats and chickens you can feed! A sweet little food truck style drink station was awesome- they have slashes, soft drinks, select beer, wines and my favorite was enjoying a mimosa while browsing the beautiful plants
Great walks for adults, kids and dogs! But plants too!
Nice facility, with special areas for indoor plants, outdoor shaded plans, outdoor full sun plants, etc. They have many of the common plants you might expect, but they also have some more unique looking plants. The lady I worked with today was friendly and able to help me find a couple of distinctive plants and decorative pots that should work well in the room where we plan to place them. Price was reasonable. The main area where Id suggest some improvement would be to make sure that you get written care instructions for each type of plant you purchase.
Amazingly beautiful place! It is such a pleasure simply sitting around and enjoying the breeze. They have built such a remarkable ecosystem and here is better than any park in NC!
I Love this place!!? They all kinds of plants and flowers and the costumer service is great they really have knowledge of what they have and any questions you need help with. And all around is beautiful
This place is amazing. A great selection of house plants. They even had a few rare plants.
Very knowledgeable staff and quality plants for a herb and vegetable garden, and berry bushes.
For Gardens Sake is an absolute treasure trove. I visited for the first time yesterday, bringing along my eight-year-old son who recently discovered his green thumb and was very excited to look for seeds that he could sow at home. He had been to this garden center with my husband previously and was eager to show me around. What an amazing place! Ive driven past it many, many times but never realized how much is hidden behind the trees along that stretch of 751. From the moment we drove into the clearing past the gate, the aesthetic was instantly pleasing peaceful, breathtaking, spacious, and organized. I was impressed by how much they have to offer, not only in plant life and the many accessories that could complement it, but in services. They have a landscape design and installation company, workshops and classes, The Potting Shed for refreshments, and an overall stunning site complete with pond, chickens, goats, and a little library. Beyond the beauty of this location and all that it offers, I was most taken with the customer service. Every team member we passed smiled and/or spoke to us and offered to help. One in particular shared her vast knowledge of houseplants and guided us toward our ultimate purchase: a tiny, adorable asparagus fern that made my sons whole day. And while we spent next to nothing on this small plant, every one of the staff treated us as though we were buying something much more expensive. We were clearly valued, and that meant so much to me and my son. Thank you, For Gardens Sake, for being part of our community. You are such a diamond, and I will tell many others about you!
Great selection beautiful place to hang out.
One of the best spots to go in Durham! Highly recommend taking the family and supporting this local business
I love the selection here
Smaller but quite knowledgeable!!
I really like this place. Their selection is great and the people are nice. Minus one star because the sections are not clearly marked. You struggle to find perennial vs annual and not every plant has a proper tag. If they added more information on the tags like they do with some, to all of them, you wouldnt have to use your phone so much while you are there or find an associate.
The team was very effecient and friendly and did a wonderful job!
Sells invasives
Great selection of plants and pots.
Not coming back anymore. I have given this place 4 tries and every time I go back I deal with the same thing every time. My husband and I get watched and followed around the whole place like we re going to steal and this time I went into their indoor plant section and the employee planted themselves in the same room and and just stood and stared and watched us making us feel very uncomfortable. We immediately left and will not be returning. If you are a person of color I do not recommend this place. The employees are never as friendly as you think. It is very rare you even get so much as a hello.
I have always LOVED For Gardens Sake--their selection and quality are unsurpassed--I did have a disappointing experience where a sales associate would not accept a gift card AFTER I purchased almost $300 worth of the best stuff there is. BUT, the management and owners IMMEDIATELY contacted me, listened and made it all right. It is rare to receive that level of courtesy and consideration. I will always and forever go to For Gardens Sake first and foremost. The bottom line is: dont condemn until you have an open and honest dialogue!
The staff here was helpful and knowledgeable. The location is great and so are the plants/pots/materials they have on site. The play area is good for kids as are the animals. Accessible parking is not on the gravel so you can get a wheelchair into the place without having to deal with that hassle too. If you have mobility issues and that spot is taken, youre out of luck
Beautiful garden center with a huge selection of indoor and outdoor plants and plant care supplies. Love that you can drink a mimosa while you shop and enjoy the duck pond and goats. Cute, fun weekend spot for plant lovers!
Received a cat palm as a gift from here and was infested with mealybugs which became apparent in 2 weeks. Having to isolate the plant outside to protect my other house plants. A shame because Ive really wanted to visit this nursery but not sure with potential infestation problem going on.
I enjoy visiting this nursery and occasionally buy things from them. I wish they offered more native species and non-invasive groundcovers.
The outdoor space is really nice. I came here for an outdoor yoga class and enjoyed myself.
Love this place and all their events
We had the best experience with For Gardens Sake! Everyone we were in contact with was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. We had them plant seven trees to make a privacy screen, and it turned out beautifully. Since we purchased the house, we have had drainage issues in that area and they were able to formulate a plan to re-direct water to maintain our beautiful new trees. We highly recommend them and will use them in the future!
Wonderful and informative staff, great place to wander and relax. I love the ducks! How can one not be happy in the presence of ducks. I wish you had donkeys!!!
Love taking my kid here to play on the playground, look at animals, and browse plants.
Could their employees be more polite and friendly? I dont think so! I was searching for some pansies, kind of late in the season to even find any. Theyre great cos they last thru the Winter into Spring. Thankfully they still had some left! They also have Christmas trees of all sizes and greenery right now. The wonderful scent of pine in the air was intoxicating! Their setting is lovely and peaceful. The farm animals (in a separate fence area with plenty of room to roam) as you drive in and the pond was a pleasant surprise.
I am very pleased with For Gardens Sake for residential landscape design and installation. They were easy to work with and drew up an attractive yard design. They were very flexible throughout the process, allowing me to change my mind on a few items prior to ordering. Installation was very smooth and we have gotten many compliments from neighbors since it was done. Highly recommend!
I used them for landscaping, which incorporated plan design, plant recommendations, implementation, stone edging, patio construction, garden boxes, even irrigation and lighting. These folks are very talented and extremely easy to work with. Ryan and his crew addressed any questions or concerns I had right away, and always with a smile. Always punctual, they kept me well-informed through every phase of the project!
From landscape plan conception, to installation, to finished product, AmberLeigh, Jack, Billy, Viridian and the entire team at For Gardens Sake were fantastic. Knowledgeable, hard-working and responsive. I wont hesitate to seek their advice and work with them again in the future.
Favorite plant store in the Triangle! They have amazing classes too for a great price! Ive taken multiple classes including their wreath classes, bouquet classes, house plants 101, 102, and propagation 101 and 102. I always learn so much and the employees teaching the courses are so nice and happy to answer questions. On top of that, they have a great selection of drinks seasonally and awesome food trucks!
Loved the class and instructor. He was engaging, knowledgeable and witty.
Incredibly helpful and attentive staff, knowledgeable. Relaxed vibe and great selection of plants, pots and educational materials.
Helpful and friendly staff. Love the plants
Very professional, extremely courteous and attentive to our needs. Jack and the entire crew just finished a project in our backyard and could not be happier. Kudos to the entire team and looking forward to working with them on future projects!!
This was the cutest garden place ever! They have a place to get a beer or glass of wine while your walking around looking at plants. We were in search of a big house plant for our living room. They have an entire indoor area for house plants. They had a variety of sizes for each plant we looked at. Debbie helped us and was so nice, patient and knowledgeable. I have quite a few plants at home and had questions about them and she answered all of them. They gave us a brochure to help answer questions and problem solve if something isn t going right. They also said we can call and they can look up the plants we ve gotten from them to assist us in making sure the plants are flourishing. I highly recommend this place if you are someone who really wants to help your plants thrive. Thank you so much!
This is such a stunning place. The aesthetic is everything. You instantly feel at peace entering the grounds. Im mainly a houseplant kind of gal and I fell in love when I entered their indoor houseplant area. I saw so many unique plants that I rarely ever see in person, just online. I would highly recommend. The staff was lovely and there are ducks, chickens, and goats, out front. I visited on my birthday and honestly it was the highlight of my day. I cant wait to go back.
Love this place!! They have a rare plants shelf that is stunning. Constantly getting new plants in, love the succulents but there isnt a massive selection. Ive found SOT, SOH, VSOH, SOP, and a few other strings of things. Also, they have goats! Its a great experience and worth going to, but keep in mind the prices are a bit steep. They arent awful since you know youre getting quality, but definitely not the type where you walk out with dozen new plants.
Could not be happier with the attention to detail by the staff at For Gardens Sake. From the Design the to Installation, all staff members were professional and attentive to my questions/concerns. Would definitely recommend FGS to your landscaping needs.
We drove 2 hours to come visit and it was totally worth it; would highly recommend this adventure! An exceptional experience and high quality plants too.
I needed to replace a dead crape myrtle in my backyard. I didn t know what tree to buy (I already have three crape myrtles in my yard). I turned to Billy (Landscape Design) who introduced me to several ornamental trees. I finally found one I like. Jack (Operation Manager) contacted me about the installation details; he and his crow did a great job amending the clay soil. Without my asking, he and his crew straightened and restoked two trees that I purchased earlier. I am very pleased. Thanks, Jack and Billy, for your continuous support!
A large and widely varied selection of very healthy plants, in a beautiful garden setting. There are goats and areas to picnic, and a beverage shop that also sells wine, beer, and cider. Everything Ive bought here has done well.
This was our first time to visit. What a really nice space and plant selection. It is a great way to have an enjoyable few hours doing something different (from normal).
Great garden center and great place to take the kids and just chill. They have some goats, chickens, ducks, fish, and turtles to look at and a lake and small play set. There is zero pressure to walk around and shop. They even have a little free library for books!
Super cute nursery. First time going and can t wait to go back! Had so much to choose from!
They have everything, an the uncommon on top of the everything.
I enjoy the goats and they have a great house plant section, though the prices have increased a lot over the last year relative to other garden centers. Prices can be surprisingly high on some plants and ok on others so you have to watch. For instance this Fall, tiny miniature gourd pumpkins were $5, when a fair price is probably around $2. As a result I will probably not return because I prefer some other options. I was also a previously happy landscaping maintenance customer but quality of service had unfortunately declined a lot in the past year and there is poor follow ups on problems or missed service. I would not consider them for routine maintain like mowing though one of the employees that did specific jobs was great. There were just too many problems that required sending an email and trying to get them made aware of problems or otherwise addressed, and it doesnt seem like the team would come out and check behind them to make sure jobs were being done. The crew seemed to want to get done early and would then be on their cellphones. One time they skipped the front yard because they said they wanted the rut they made in a ditch to heal, but used that as reason to not push mow the entire front yard. Unfortunately, the folks managing them did not see this as a problem and do not really seem to be training their staff to do a good job. While polite, the final email talked a bit about trust in that they know what they are doing, kind of implying not trusting them was a problem, which rubbed me the wrong way, especially given the minimal oversight of the jobs done.
Beautiful flowers and herbs. Very helpful staff and a great place to hang out with the goats bring kids and have a drink in the sun and take in the beauty
Too good
The staff is phenomenal and the selection is plants and herbs is nice. I also love that they have animals on site. Nice & peaceful.
Great place with beautiful.plants, goats, ducks, chickens, and trees!
Friendly staff. Well cared for plants. Just an overall great nursery.
Great selection of plants and a great atmosphere. Employees really care about your choices and needs
Super cute and great deals
Fabulous result from planning to execution. I could not be happier. In fact, now I plan to have some work done in a different location on my property. My neighbors have asked me who did this marvelous work and of course, I mention For Gardens Sake!
A BEAUTIFUL nursery with such friendly employees! They helped me find exactly what I was looking for- can t wait to come back!
Love this place! Great selection (with a native area for local friendly landscaping), excellent service, beautiful area, and fun for the entire family. They have a playground, goats/chickens, and a beverage stand with delicacies for all ages. *wink*
The cutest plant shop. I love grabbing a beer at the shed and plant shopping.
Its a nice place to visit but way too overpriced for what its worth. You can find plants for much cheaper in other garden stores.
My wife loves this place and I appreciate it for that. Beyond that, they always have something new when we go there, the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They have so much stuff for indoors and out so is definitely worth the trip to check it out. There are goats, chickens, and ducks to look at too! UPDATE: They have expanded a little and there are even more plants inside. There is a clearance section with some really good deals, too!
Plan and design were beyond my expectations. Installation was equally excellent. Not the least expensive but I am convinced - from experience with other landscapers - Garden Sake is well worth it.
Best garden/plant and pottery shop in the Triangle.
One of our favorite garden stores. The food trucks, beer, and farm animals make for a fun family visit.
Lovely place to keeps your grounds beautiful
They had a lot of options for all kinds of genuses. I left with an alocasia cuprea and a Hoya compacta variegata :)
Very good place to buy plants. They stand by there one year warranty. They just replaced for plants that died within the warranty at no cost and their prices are competitive the other nurseries in this area
More expensive than the Big Boxes but great people and fabulous plants.
This was my second time visiting this garden center. The first time was absolutely delightful: good prices, awesome selection and pest free plants. This visit was woefully disappointing. The price of plants was still decent, however, it seemed as if almost all of their plants were infested with spider mites. Only redeeming quality was the friendly staff and selection of plants.
My husband and I worked with FGS on a landscaping project to upgrade our yard after being long-time customers of the garden center. We had a great experience with this team as they worked with us closely to understand what we wanted in landscaping, including specific colors, care-levels, and design elements. Billy provided us with a professional design, complete with a full listing of all plants and their preferred care. They got us on the schedule quickly and completed the planting at the perfect time (October) for our area. Overall, we love the way this turned out and cannot recommend this team enough!
This is a fun place to visit. Unfortunately the quality of the houseplants they sell doesn t match the higher end prices they charge. I purchased a scindapsus exotica only to find it was a pot stuffed full of one leaf rooted cuttings. Do better!
Visited for the first time today. Staff, especially Jon, were very helpful. Will be back for spring plants!
We buy a lot of our plants for our salon from For Gardens Sake and they are so beautiful and have lasted us a really long time! We always get compliments on our plants, too. They look excellent on our product shelves and at the front desk of our salon. If you ever need any plants for your home or your business, we cant recommend For Gardens Sake enough!
I had a great visit here. An employee suggested plants to fit my request. They have a vast selection of plants, pots, a potting station, beverages, animals, a playground etc. I definitely recommend this place. Update 2/9/21- Second visit went well. Employees were helpful, and knowledgeable.
Hands down my favorite place for plant shopping. Staff is polite and knowledgeable and have been more than helpful every time Ive visited. I can personally only speak for their houseplants, but everything Ive bought from here has been impressively healthy and has thrived since I brought it home. Great pot selection as well. Highly recommend.
Nice nursery, but overpriced.
Ive wanted to visit this nursery for years. Glad I finally came. Nice selection of plants and pots. I dont think may people of color come here because everytime I shop I get the wide eyed surprised to see you here look. . I still frequent though, the prices are great!
The staff was extremely kind/knowledgeable. And the selection of plants is wonderful. To prove my point about knowledgeable and kind staff. Owner reached out to me RE the previous version of my review. Which mentioned discovering that the philodendron we purchased consisted of rooted cuttings. Rather than a whole plant. A quick phone call to my niece who is a botanist confirmed that this is indeed a normal practice. Thank you for this information. Review has been upped from three to a fully deserved five stars. The plant in question is thriving. Currently hangs in our living room and gets plenty of light. Will likely be a fixture for years to come. Thanks again. Highly recommend. Enrique.
Lovely place with a great selection of plants as well as very helpful staff.
The nursery is well-organized. Great place to find both indoor and outdoor plants. Highly recommended.
Best Garden Center in the Triangle! All the plants I have bought from For Gardens Sake are healthy and thriving. The personnel are kind and knowledgeable. The Potting Shed is awesome!
Aurora gave us tons of information and advice about Japanese maples, helped us with rose selection and made the post COVID shopping experience a dream. Going back today for more - very well stocked and organized with easy outdoor checkout, monster pot selection and very competitive prices. Shawn delivered our trees and roses and made a wonderful experience even better. Can t recommend them highly enough. There are goats, chickens and large play area as well.
Nice people, friendly and helpful! Lots of trees, shrubs and plants to choose from. I like their pinestraw.
Beautiful garden center, lots of hard to find plants
Fantastic!!
Awesome plants, lots of choices, and great customer service. I enjoyed my visit.
We live just up the street from this garden center and love visiting for the atmosphere, and to broowse their selection. Theyve done some excellent landscape / hardscape work in our neighborhood as well. Worth the trip.
Ask Debbie to help you with building a container!
Beautiful, a bit pricey but still great place
Awesome
One of my favorite place to shop for flowers and plants in the Triangle! For Garden s Sake has a great variety of plants and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The delicious beverages, food trucks and goats are a plus!!
From design to installation, the staff of For Garden s Sake were knowledgeable, professional, friendly. Communication was excellent throughout the process. We are delighted with the landscaping they did for us and give them the highest recommendation.
Such an amazing garden center! I m a frequent visitor!! Great collection of trees and all kinds of plants. I was particularly impressed with the variety of Japanese Maples in stock. The farm with duck, goats and other animals are a joy for the kids!
Fantastic selection. Lots of friendly and knowledgeable staff to provide advice. There s a neat little snack bar that serves beer, wine, and slushees. Food truck were also set up the Saturday we visited. A little hike from Durham, Chapel Hill or Raleigh but TOTALLY worth the drive and you re supporting a local business!
Love the selection staff pricing and shed shack!
Absolutely amazing place. Knowledge and friendly staff, great selection, drinks, and goats. This place is way more than your average garden/nursery!
Great place! So many nice plants and very friendly and helpful staff.
Pretty expensive $$$$$$
Very helpful staff!
Visiting For Gardens Sake is not just a great retail experience, but overall an enjoyable trip. Whether it is a random afternoon or on the occasional Saturday events (which include live music, food trucks, and more) the place is a fun visit that always ends with a quality plant purchase. THIS GARDEN CENTER HAS: lots of plants of all kinds, goats/chickens/ducks, sightseeing, bar with drinks/snacks, swings/tube for children, and overall a great place to hang out. On weekends they have fun events that are always changing and all of this supported by educational plant classes, landscaping and other services. Seriously, this is a GARDEN center. Go for the plants and stay even longer for the fun experience. Always worth revisiting during every new season with friends and family! Im not a super knowledgeable plant person, but the staff will always be there to help you find either exactly what you want or advise on plants that appeal to what you might be searching.
We just go for the goats, ducks , & play set!!! love it
This is my favorite place to plant shop! They have such a great variety of indoor and outdoor plants. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable.
Workers are very helpful 5 stars for them. However the pricing is double what I feel should be on everything. With so much help I guess they have to charge more then other nurserys. Nice garden center lots of detail making it pretty. Wont be back to expensive for the quality of plants and vegetables.
Gave clear description of what I wanted, immediately dismissed, I guess they dont want the business - thats fine. Basically told I wasnt worth their time via email because I am too small but, they never bothered to come look at the project - its not small, but someone else will get the business. Ill edit this since the company replied with some fabrication and of course, no ownership whatsoever. All the correspondence with this company were self-righteous and rude, you only need to see their reply. They can do no wrong, have no respect for customers and feel like they are doing you a favor, just look at the reply. I think their reply said better than I ever could, you should just deal with someone else and skip their Drama.
I was blown away at how beautiful this garden center is!
Its a beautiful set-up with gravel paths & signage to peruse the plants, shrubs & trees and the staff is friendly & helpful. They also allow dogs & have a cute area with chickens & goats for the kids to check out.
We worked with FGS on a backyard overhaul project. We had a lot of drainage issues in our yard and, as a young family, we wanted to have a backyard redesign that would keep in mind kids running around. Our landscape designer, Doug, made all of this possible! The landscape installation team was also great. Everyone listened to our thoughts and concerns at each step and we are very pleased with the outcome.
Customer service is great
Really beautiful nursery to stop by, gorgeous property and so many animals! Their recent addition to the houseplant section is awesome. Prices are a little high, but the staff is so friendly and the location makes it worthy.
Friendly staff and great variety!
So we just went here for the first time & fell in love with the place! The variety and amount of houseplants is mind blowing. Everyone is super nice and helpful. Can t wait to come back!
Awesomeness
Aside from the abundance of plants, the rest of the grounds are phenomenal. There were goats to feed (the store has goat food; dont bring your own), ducks to feed (they like blueberries and chopped up banana peels), and a very adventurous hen who knows toddlers are a food source and will follow them around. There is also a Little Free Library.
We had a fall wreath making class there and it was super fun! It is also a beautiful place to visit - they have many interesting plants . We also had a good time watching the goats, chickens, and ducks :)
Great selection of plants. Be sure to check out the goats and chickens! Staff was very friendly.
We recently remodeled our backyard with For Gardens Sake and were very happy with the results! The team is awesome and very responsive and was what we were looking for. From Billys design chops to AmberLeigh and Viridian coordinating the whole thing and Jack keeping us up-to-date on the job site, we found the whole experience to be pleasant and straightforward. They even got us in touch with a deck builder and worked with us to adjust our overall design plan to fit our budget. As you can see, we opted out of the plants for now, but that just goes to show you how versatile they are!
Beautiful establishment well maintained, very pleasing to your eyes. Polite staff and helpful. Highly recommend it.
This is place is fantastic!! I cannot wait to go back.
Very sweet staff. Beautiful flowers. If it grows I think they have it.
I LOVE THIS PLACE. Visit the Potting Shed for drinks while (or before, or after) you shop. House plants are available inside and they rotate new inventory constantly. Only slightly more expensive than big box stores and the plants are WAY healthier. I visit at least once a week, usually for either new pots or new plants and then I end up leaving with both. All plants pictured below are from FGS!
I loved it here! As a plant mom this is a paradise!
Nice place little pricey
This place is just an overall great experience, knowledgeable people and great place to sit out and enjoy a dtink.
It was beautiful! I visited with my family and walked around their grounds. The pond was lovely and had ducks! It also had some turtles that poked their heads through the water. There were some goats that were kinda shy till they walked up, and then they were very nice. The garden has all sorts of pretty plants, not much of a plant guy but they were in all sorts of types and lighting requirements. Very nice potting selection too, all sizes and very well decorated. Im gonna come back for sure
Creative, trustworthy, talented, hard-working, knowledgeable, good-listeners, good communicators, pleasant and professional. This organization is run really well from the owners down to the conscientious workers. It is a top-notch company and has earned my business on 3 major hardscaping/landscaping projects over several years. I know that I am paying a little more than the average, but the end-product is exceptional and the pleasant experience, peace-of-mind and my total satisfaction ensures that my investment is well-spent. My projects involved a variety of plantings, pavers, multiple dry-creek-beds and an overall natural looking landscape. I can t say enough about the integrity, talent and overall quality of service and end-product. This company exceeds my expectations every time.
What a gem! Amazing assortment of plants, a bar, and hang out with the goats, ducks, and chickens (no fee!). Great place for adults and kids alike. And friendly staff. Love this place!
This place is gorgeous and has beautiful Christmas trees. BUT they forgot to put water in them and ours is drying out severely within 6 days of having it indoors. There was no water in any of the stands in any of their trees for 2021. Had no place to email this comment on their site so its here.
I purchased 2 beautiful plants (a Frosty Fern and a Norfolk Island Pine). The staff was helpful and mentioned that theres a bar and live music during the Spring/Summer months. I cant wait to go back!
I did a complete overhaul of my back yard and am very happy with the team at For Gardens Sake. They were clear, professional, gave great instructions for plant care, were flexible with my questions and changes, and I couldnt be happier with the end product. I love my yard again!
Phase 3 of our landscape design was just completed by For Gardens Sake. The designs by Doug Barnes are beautiful and exactly what we had hoped. Jack Meyers, landscape operations manager, worked closely with the crew to ensure the plan was executed and even picked up a shovel to help out! Because of supply issues, there were substitutions made on the size of several plants. Doug took the time to talk us through this so we understood how this would impact the overall design. Friends bring friends over to see our gardens and yard. This is our utopia.
The entire experience working with the For Gardens Sake staff was totally enjoyable. Very professional group, and the outcome of our landscape beyond expectations!! Thanks for all they do.
The Robins Nest is a beautiful, little event space that was perfect size for my nieces bridal shower. It was reasonably priced as well. I would rent this space again based on location and decor. The space was wonderful and looks exactly as shown in photos. Be mindful that the few stairs shown in one picture are to offices for the business, not to the kitchen. The prep kitchen and bathroom are at the top of a steep staircase that leads above the rental space, so be prepared if needing to use either. There is a large table up there that we used to prep our trays for the event, as well as a microwave and fridge. Only hiccup: There was no running water in kitchen during my rental. The management seemed unaware of lack of water in kitchen and promised it was temporary issue that would be rectified ASAP and allowed us to transport water from different area to accommodate our event. I would have given 5 stars if not for water issue.
Our yard is a small yard and the previous landscaping was not exactly what we wanted. We contacted For Gardens Sake and right from the start to the end of our project, they were welcoming, easy and honest to work with. And we are very pleased with our landscaping. It looks fantastic and have zero complaints. Thank you and job well done For Gardens Sake.
This landscaping team is AWESOME!!!! Everyone-- professional hardworking & courteous. Always responsive to our concerns. LOVE the end result!!! Highly recommend this crew!
Place was great!!
This is an amazing garden center. They gave a great selection and I love that we can bring our dogs, get a drink, and say hi to goats.
This is one of Durhams best kept secrets. A perfect place to bring the family and dog. They serve beer and wine out of their potting shed and have a plethora of plants. On weekends they always have food trucks. The staff are all super kind. I cant say enough nice things about this place. Oh and they have goats.
We ve been here a ton and love it. There are plants, a small petting zoo, a quaint little lake, a park, and nice pumpkins in the fall. Now there s a cool little outdoor seating area where you can get a snack and a drink on the weekends. It s super cute and family friendly. If you only go for the plants, their prices are pretty much the same as Home Depot. And they re happy plants- I don t have much of a green thumb, and the ones we have are all staying alive and healthy.
Ended up visiting here since they are one of the only places with a pumpkin patch that allow dogs...for a photoshoot. I will def plan to return to purchase plants as well as to get drinks at the Shed. The slush with moscato was delicious!! There are also goats! Im very happy to have been introduced to this lovely spot.
We just had a landscape consultation with Doug this past week and he was extremely professional and very knowledgeable about plants and design. We are looking forward to our installation in a few weeks!
Great little place we just discovered. The guy at the garden shed on October 9th was super friendly and super helpful. They had a great selection of beers, my husband says kudos to whoever picks the beer selections! Cute little place with goats, chickens, and ducks. A little pond to have a drink at. Variety of plants too
Great little place. The guy at the beer shed was super nice. Some of the other staff, werent so friendly but we enjoyed ourselves all the same.
Well tended plants. Healthy specimens. Good selection. Friendly staff.
Great place with tons of plants and garden supplies. Drinks, pumpkins, food truck, goats and chickens! What more could you ask?
This is my favorite garden center! Beautiful plants & trees. Amazing help that can answer any questions and help you decide on the best plants for your home. So Covid friendly- everything is clean, masks are on everyone. Come see it for yourself! Its a little gem tucked away waiting to be discovered!
Great variety of fresh and healthy potted plants and shrubs. Plenty of stock so we could purchase ants in pairs to create balance on the property.
Love this place
This place is awesome!!! Everyone seems so happy, too
This place is the absolute best. They have soooo many plants and so many cool things to look at and do!! Ahhhh can t go on enough about how great this place is.
We went today mostly to just get outside and relax with a drink from the Potting Shed. Still ended up buying a couple of plants before we left. Staff is always friendly and helpful and the whole place is dog friendly.
Stopped here when we were quickly in town and it was such a nice experience. Got to pet the goats and view the beautiful ponds. They had a good selection of plants as well.
For Gardens Sake was very lovely to walk around, great selection of plants, clearly marked, and very helpful! Also we loved the selections for shaded plants, water loving plants, and pet friendly. You dont see these everywhere.
From start to finish, FGS delivered professionalism, responsiveness and quality service! I have been a customer for decades now and will continue to use FGS as my go to! So happy to see the business growing over the years!
Paradise on the earth. The most wonderful farm and garden Ive ever seen You can buy a lot of beautiful flowers for very affordable price. Also Christmas tree.
If you love plants and love people who love plants and people, then this is the place for you. For Garden s Sake is much more than a nursery and landscaping business, it is a community that welcomes everyone to enjoy the goats, sit in the sun by the lake, enjoy a glass of wine, hot chocolate, music on the weekends and wander through groves of GORGEOUS healthy plants.
Very nice garden center! Super friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere, and rare plants to boot!
Dump some dirt at the pond in the back. Very nice staff and landscaping. Awesome place! CBJ Trucking LLC
Goats. Lots of goats.
Even in December a true joy to visit
Stumbled in here and fell in love. Really high quality plants, gorgeous pots and the staff were so kind and helpful. I got lots of holiday shopping done here!
I love this garden center. A variety of beautiful indoor and outdoor plants, helpful staff, and a relaxing atmosphere make this a must visit. They also host classes and have a cute assortment of farm animals on the property.
Great garden center! Lots of nice houseplants and planters! Healthy, good quality plants.
Fantastic nursery and friendly staff.
Had a wonderful team from For Garden Sake from beginning of planning stage to execution of final project. We had a drainage issue on out side yard and they created a drainage area for water flow and added creeping Jenny to support the project on the side. Looks great. Also had a great cleanup crew lead by Jack that made the yard look organized and cleaned up and ready for spring plantings.
Great experience - knowledgeable and courteous staff, timely installation and the final product is beautiful!
