Rock Creek Tree, Turf & Landscape LLC in Derwood

I do not normally write a review, but after purchasing firewood for more than 45 years from local vendors I can state without qualification that the firewood I purchased (twice) from Rock Creek Tree is the best I have ever purchased.

After a tree struck our home we had no idea what to do.On advise from our neighbor we reached out to Rockcreek who arrived with a crane and all the equipment nessasary in less than an hour.The guys at Rockcreek expertly removed the tree off our home saving it from any further damage and cleaned up all debris.Afterwards, John at Rockcreek pointed out weaknesses in other trees on our property so we could be proactive in addressing further issues.We our so grateful for guys at Rockcreek on that fateful night,they truly navigated us through a nightmare.Since then we use Rockcreek for all our landscaping needs.They sure make my life easier

Ive had three major projects done by Rock Creek Tree, Turf & Landscape: tree removal (2023), and back yard redesign (brush clearing, replanting of shrubs from front yard, grading/seeding) and replacement of front porch walk (redesign, slate installed over cement for entire front porch, landscaping and sod), all in 2024. Each of these projects was done as scheduled, as proposed, and in a thoroughly professional manner. In addition, the design elements that were recommended were excellent and have greatly enhanced my property. Highly recommended.

Everyone at Rock Creek are amazing. They do phenomenal work and really care about the people they re doing service calls for. They are also super knowledgeable. I couldn t recommend them enough to someone in need of tree removal services.

I was unable to proceed with two projects I had planned, but I received fair and well documented estimates in a timely fashion. John was on extremely thorough when he did his on site visit. His video explanations of potential work were top notch. While I am unable to proceed at this time, I am confident that the work would have been very well done.

Removed small and large shrubs, shaped 40ft holly tree and replaced walkway with PA flagstone, covered side and top of porch to match. Nice grey thick tiles with bluish and greenish hues and an occasional rust color to break up uniformity. The ground crew did an excellent job. The tree crew came back and nipped off a limb that was still too long, no questions asked. Mishappen holly looks great. The walkway was installed in three days which was faster than expected. The walkway base is 3.5 inch or more of concrete sloped to overcome where the ground had settled so the first step onto the porch is now correct height. The foreman kicked off the job on the first day and was responsive when we had questions. The Rock Creek Teamed collaborated well with us from design through installation. Pleased with the process, the results and overall reasonable cost. For the record, Hector the mason is an artist.

Rock Creek was ready to help us out immediately after a stormed downed a huge tree onto our garage roof. The team was able to give a quick and clear estimate that also provided good detail to our insurance adjusters and the tree was gone in a just a few days. I really appreciated the rapid response, the clarity of costs, the staging required for the crane and the quick execution of the work! We referred them later that week to multiple other neighbors!

Branch, limb, sawdust and leaf are removed such that there is no evidence that the work was done by looking at the yard. In comparison to other companies I considered, their prices are very reasonable.

Best Tree Company ever! I have used Rock Creek Tree & Turf for Tree and branch removal many times. From a tree that fell on my house to a 90-foot tree that I feared was going to fall on my house. They have a large crane truck that makes sure the tree trunk and branches come down without damage. They were very professional, arrived on time with 3 trucks and did not leave until the work was done. They took every part of the tree with them and even raked, cleaned and swept the driveway of all of the little twigs and leaves. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

John came out quickly to give an estimate on cutting down and removing several dead trees. I thought it was great that they sent a video detailing the work to be done for approval. Their price was significantly less than a previous estimate, but the quality of the work was excellent. Lastly, the crew came out quickly and I really appreciated that they were willing to do the work in a certain oder to avoid being noisy near a window for an hour. Id use them again and definitely recommend them.

Weve had Rock Creek Tree, Turf & Landscape do work at our home on several occassions now. We just recently once again had them prune large trees, smaller trees, and even bushes. John came out and conducted a very comprehensive walkthrough of the property with me to identify diseased branches and/or trees. Rock Creek removed a maple with a large stump with roots right over the power lines. They did a great job (and marked the lines prior unlike other companies we have used) everyone was responsive and friendly, and their price was the best of all the estimates we received. I called Rock Creek Landscaping a day after a 70 foot tree fell onto my property and destroyed my fence after a big storm. The owner, John, answered my phone call right away and explained to me that his crews had been working around the clock pulling trees off of houses due to this storm, but assured me someone will come by my house to give an estimate that same night. After contacting two other landscaping companies prior, who had agreed to come and give estimates that same day, only one actually showed up during my time of need. That was John and Rock Creek Landscaping. Despite working through the night and into the next day John assured me his crew would be out tomorrow morning to remove the large tree. I received a heads up phone call 30 minutes prior to the crews arrival to remove the tree. Since John took a video and photos to give to the on-site manager I didn t even need to be home at the time of the tree removal. In no time after the crew arrived they remove the tree from my property making this situation painless and easy. It s hard to find good honest people like John at Rock Creek landscaping and I will for sure be using them in the future for any landscaping needs.

Emergency removal of huge beach tree that fell toward house -- it was supported by large branches that landed on a metal roof but threatened to continue falling and split the house. Rock Creek Tree had 110-ton crane in the neighborhood on the day after the storm that caused the tree to fall, and was happy to help -- and they did an excellent and professional job, removing the threat!

The recent service provided by Rock Creek Landscaping which involved resodding half our lawn and dethatching and reseeding the other half was excellent in all respects and worth every cent of the cost. Rock Creek did an excellent job of taking down three old, crêpe myrtle trees, and planting an arborvitae, a redbud tree and an autumn blaze maple. They ground the stumps and an extensive root system from an old maple. They also leveled and re-sodded a large portion of my backyard. The workers were quite polite and conscientious. All of the work was completed in one day, including cleanup. Our backyard looks great!

Rock Creek removed or trimmed seven trees at our church. A crane was used for trees near power lines and over a playground. The crew members were experienced and they worked smoothly in difficult conditions of high heat and humidity to complete such a large job in one day. The cost was very reasonable. Used Rock Creek Tree, Turf & Landscape for a whole package of tree trimmings and tree removals this summer and they were really professional and thorough, despite a number of annoying obstacles that popped up. Parts of two different fences needed to be delicately removed and replaced to gain access to trees, and they did so perfectly--youd never know anything was out of place. From the quotes I collected, their rates seemed basically standard for upper Montgomery County. Recommended!

Yet it was the team of men who completed the work on my new pollinator s garden who deserve my praise. They were most kind, easy to work with and did considerable heavy lifting. On-site manager Kevin took time to hear of my concern while the job unfolded and was happy to make a slight adjustment. When all was said and done, the men working on my job cleaned up my backyard to perfection. They offered the best price of all estimates collected but what makes them great value is quality work at reasonable price. I had a large job of removing 27 fifty feet plus aged Leyland Cypress trees including grinding the stumps as well as removing a fifty feet Blue Spruce (grinding the stump) and pruning other trees. All of these trees were over grown and very close to the my house which required extreme know how and precisions to cut and prune. The crew was very punctual, professional and friendly. Every morning I had a visit by the crew supervisor Chris that reviewed what will be done that day. The crew left the job site spotless every night. Jimmy Lazas who manages the company met with me few times before and after the project to ensure total satisfaction.

They took the time to come out for a full review of my property and spent well over an hour with us during the initial consultation. I really appreciated how clearly they were able to explain/show me the source of our drainage issues, before then offering up multiple options on how address the issue. A comprehensive and creative proposal was then sent to me the next day. The drainage system they installed has turned out to be a great investment; it has withstood even the heaviest of storms and has effectively solved a water issue that I have been fighting for years. We have also used Rock Creek for tree work on numerous occasions over the years and they have proven to be by far the best tree company I have ever worked with. The skill level and machinery that they put on display during the process of removing and pruning our trees is fun to watch!

Used Rock Creek for the last several years for yard clean-up. Called and emailed to schedule for this year, but had to wait almost 2 weeks for a response. When I finally received a response, I was informed that the company is only servicing those customers who have full-service maintenance contracts. So if you are NOT a full-service maintenance client, then they no longer want your business.

I have always been impressed by the professionalism of this company. I have used them for multiple tree related projects throughout the years and have always been pleased with the work. My son was recently settled into a home for those with autism. Rock Creek did the landscaping for that house and based on their thoughtful work, I asked them to help me with my newly acquired house. The house had significant difficulties related to poor grading of the yard, a horrible deck, and degrading walkway. He explained the reasons that some solutions would work but others would not (based on soil type, etc...). John quickly assessed the situation and designed a solution that was amazing. We now have a yard with the proper grading and drainage, a new walkway, beautiful retaining walls, an appropriately placed fence, fresh grass and plantings, and a lovely concrete patio that took the place of the mess of a deck. They even developed solutions for unforeseen problems right on the spot as they arose...they were extremely flexible and quick to respond to our desires. No reappraisal, no nonsense, but rather a spirit of working together in anyway that would make us happy. It was clear that their desire was to do work that we would be happy with, rather than to sell us a plan that would make them money. Before designing solutions, they explored our needs and then collaboratively developed solutions with us. They were so quick that our neighbors were stunned that so much work was done so rapidly. However, today I switched to Rock Creek after meeting Jimmy Lazas at a charity golf tournament earlier this Fall. Jimmy sold me on the benefits and overall professionalism of Rock Creek. I m glad I listened!!! The team of Misha, Nelson, Victor and Atufo were terrific. Nelson and Victor performed the in tree work and were a pleasure to watch. More importantly, they communicated with me every step of the process to assure my satisfaction. I couldn t not have been more pleased. After completing the work they cleaned up the limbs, etc.such that you could not tell anyone had been to my home and the trees look great! I m so happy I found Rock Creek. We started shed construction project when realized that the new structure will be dangerously close to the tree. I used Rock Creek Tree, Turf & Landscape service before and now called them again. I explained that the construction has been started, the contractors cannot wait and asked to schedule tree removal service as soon as possible. John Miller came the same day, inspected the site and was able to put me in their busy schedule just in a few days, so i can proceed with my project with minimal delay. They did a good job of tree removal but were supposed to trim up another tree and did a completely unacceptable job of limbing up the other tree. They also said that they did not have copies of the pictures they sent me related to what they were supposed to do and refused to complete the job. Very unprofessional. You can find better.

Great deal on a full cord of firewood (4x4x8 stack), but they only drop all the wood on location. They do not stack it or move it for you. There are some firewood suppliers that will stack it even if for a fee. Rock Creek didnt tell me one way or the other if they could help stack the wood until after the delivery. For reference it took me (31 yr old, not lazy but not in shape either) about 3 hours over a two day period to move the full stack from my driveway to my shed (~40 feet with negligible elevation change) by myself using a wheelbarrow. Honestly wasnt that bad. Put on headphones, get to work. Ill still go to Rock Creek for more once my stack runs out in a year or two. It really is a great deal

They arrived on time and conducted themselves with utter professionalism, and the quality of the work was outstanding. Frankly, I was amazed at how clean the job site was when I got home. I also understand that there was a slight miscommunication on a tree stump that was to be ground up after the crew had packed up. My wife told me that the crew came back, unloaded the grinder again and processed the stump. That level of responsibility to get the job done right is not often found in todays get it done quickly mindset.

We had to remove a large (and dead) silver maple tree from our back yard this past July. Danny and Rock Creek came out quickly after calling for a quote and came back with the lowest estimate among ~5 others (nearly half the price in some cases). A crew came out only a few days after accepting their offer and did a great job, successfully removing the tree, leaving a ~3 ft stump (as requested), and clearing the associated debris. At one point during the job a branch hit and bent a horizontal pole in the chain link fence near the tree, but Danny and crew came back out and promptly repaired the minor damage. We are overall happy with their work, would hire again, and would recommend to others.

We recently hired this company to take over all of our lawn needs and are extremely pleased with their work so far. Rock Creek Tree, Turf and Landscape did an amazing comprehensive job for our family. We were renovating a home and needed to remove a couple trees, they did a very professional job. We then need stump removal for the construction, they once again, did an excellent job. After the construction we needed to do a final grading, seeding put down materials to stop any erosion and returned the landscape back to the original beautiful environment. They priced each phase of the work, and kept to the price. The price seemed very much in balance with the work involved.
